About a year ago my wife and I stopped in as we were new here and wanted a buffet. We of course grabbed some fried chicken and sides. The Chicken tasted like OLD, old chicken!! So old, neither of us could swallow it. I ended up not making a fuss about it, I just figured others would be. So we left, and haven't been back. my wife and I eat at Monroe's GC often. The ladies and gentlemen, that wait on the customers are courteous. There's one fellow who needs to be schooled on how to talk to people. It's never, HOW MAY I HELP YOU, or WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU. It's always, WHAT DO YOU WANT. It just makes me want to throw plate and food in the trash. Can someone please school this gentleman how to speak to the public? And maybe teach him how to not scorch the steaks. We LOVE Golden Corral! The food is always hot and fresh! That being said...My absolute favorite area is the salad bar!!! It is always refreshingly cold and fresh and is always being refilled. Not to forget... it has the largest selection of items and dressings!!! Last but not least... THE DESSERT BAR! We've been to a few Golden Corrals before and normally the food choices are pretty decent. This one seemed pretty light on choices and definitely reminded me of school cafeteria lunch around Thanksgiving. I sampled one plateful of items and quickly moved on to dessert to try and redeem the experience. Dessert was not good.. the jello was flavorless and had a hard crust as if it had been out for a while. The brownies were hard and flavorless. The carrot cake tasted old and musty and had an aftertaste that lingered. Quite disappointing for over 40 dollars for two people. Unfortunately we didn't get our moneys worth because it wasn't worth going back for seconds. Would not recommend this location. I also read another yelp review that mentioned the plates were soaking wet and still dirty, that is still the case. read more

the Golden Corral in Monroe NC has got to be one of the nastiest restaurants. After visiting today I will never ever go back. All food is cold I had to get three different plates before I found a clean one for my dessert. The fried chicken was soggy and greasy the salad bar was just about empty. The waitress waited till I ran out of tea and decided to see if I wanted more. Employees standing around talking close to the bar so it was hard to navigate around it. I took my wife here on 2.26.23 for dinner. The first thing we noticed was the lack of food and the lack of customers compared to other 'Golden Corrals'. The tables were dirty. The plates were dripping wet - and some were dirty. We wanted to leave but I had already paid for this hot stinking mess! I started with a slice a pizza, but it had a strange metallic/detergent smell and taste. For the first time in my life (and despite being incredibly hungry) I could not take a 2nd bite of that slice of pizza (and the first bite went into a napkin). Something beeped loudly for at least 5 minutes - no one seemed to care. My well-done steak was burnt. I tried the fried okra but couldn't swallow it - it was cold and mushy. In the end, I filled up on cookies and ice cream. I had to apologize for taking my wife to this crappy place... never again... even McDonald's would have been 100 times better and much cheaper. *Maybe on Sundays they serve less food at night because there are less customers... but then maybe you should also charge less... right? I know we didn't eat $34 dollars worth of food (because we couldn't eat most of it!). I suspect I ate some triple re-heated leftovers from Friday and Saturday. Seriously, if you can't bring your A-game on Sunday nights (and every night), just turn off the lights and go home. P.S. On the way home, we passed by another Golden Corral in Matthews (on Hwy 74) - it was jammed packed full of cars and people... that speaks volumes.... right?! Nice Staff, guy up front was nice & gave us a coupon, since their car won the race So, kids ate free and everyone had their own selections (quite a lot) to choose from.. The Waitress, Isabel (management said he thought it was her), was VERY attentive and looked as though she really enjoyed her job! The price was reasonable enough with the discount and we'd love to come back for Prime Rib Weekend! Only Complaints would be: 1. Peel and Chop the Cucumber 2. Need Diced Tomatoes 3. Okay I was reluctant to eat here at first. I don't usually do buffets because I don't eat that much and the food isn't all that great. We heard differently from locals, so we gave it a try. I have to admit I was shocked!! My husband grabbed a steak. Asked for medium rare & it was seasoned & cooked PERFECTLY!! Had some chicken tenders for my daughter and I ended up eating a few. Again seasoned perfectly and super tender and juicy. They weren't dried out at all. Everything I put on my plate was hot and delicious. I especially loved the sweet potato dish. Just the right amount of brown sugar it was so yummy!! Service was attentive and friendly. As soon as our drinks were low, she was right there offering refills. They even have a dessert bar with has a chocolate fountain. Dipped some strawberries and Rice Krispies and it finished off our meal perfectly. I was surprised and full when leaving. My Husband and I just left here from getting a to go plate. We asked for a drink and were charged for a 32 Oz beverage. We were given a 16 Oz cup so we asked for them to please fix it. The manager came over and told us it was the right cup and if we would have paid 50 cent more we would have gotten the bigger size. I have my receipt and it clearly says 32 Oz beverage and the bottom of my cup shows 16oz. I know its not much but they basically stolen from me. I've NEVER had something like this happen, it's shameful. I've never left a review because I know some things can't be helped or sometimes people have things going on we don't know about. But keeping money or over charging for something you didn't get should NEVER be excused. This is basically theft. read more

Went for breakfast in a group of 5 on a Saturday. Plenty of seating and decent prices. Some of the food was a little too greasy and nasty. But the majority was good. Waitress was a little slow for not having a lot of people, but she was very friendly. read more

Terrible service , waitress kept talking loudly with another worker and were both on their phone . food was very bland and greasy , had to wait almost 20 min for a steak talked to management and he acted like he didn't care about his job.
