Great food, friendly service and fantastic prices. Can't recommend more especially if you and your family is hungry!

My family went to Golden Corral on April 1st 2026 approx 4-4:30pm. The food was soooo old that the gravies had a thick film on top of them.. the rolls were pure black and burned, I asked for more mashed potatoes and the guy running the meat part scolded me that "he was getting them"... while yelling at the person who was baking new rolls "to hurry up with the rolls" across the aisle i to the bakery section. She was embarrassed as she literally scowled at him with a huff because she was already coming with them. The food was just old.. the place wasnt packed so there was no need for the workers to keep an eye on the food that was dried out!! Even the boiled potatoes werent cooked fully, they were hard as a rock. Its almost as if the place doesnt care yet wants to charge $50 for 3 people to eat... and ya cant eat when the food is disgustingly hard and dried out! That night my husband who usually eats mine and our daughters share of food... didnt eat hardly anything because of how nasty the food was that day. Unless they begin caring about their customers and their experience... they shouldn't be charging so much for old crusty food. read more

After moving recently to Mount Airy I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at Golden Coral. Seen their commercials for years, but never tried one. The only thing missing was the chocolate fountain. So sad. With that said, the food is good, the staff is very friendly, and the place is clean. Thumbs up! read more

It's lover 3 dollars for a drink. 20 to eat. What you think you're eating there? Besides the germs off every hand that touches the utensils and food? I can't believe people pay to eat there. I went in with some other people and sat there and watched them eat that trash. My stomach got quesy. And they were there eating late before closing. Omg. Even worse. The people are nice. My husband and I ate here on a Friday evening. The food tasted like it had been warmed over at least four or five times. The lettuce was brown on the salad bar, the fish was dry, and there is so much more I could say, but won't. We were very disappointed and probably won't waste our money by going back. Food poisoning is probably going to happen soon if this place dot get shut down soon. Bar was nasty food was cold and employees working with food had no sanitation in mind at all just nasty places must be under new management. Restaurant air conditioning was not working properly and it's probably going out of business soon it was really bad. read more

2021Jan 15; This has always been one of my favorite stops. The great variety and well stocked food are very positive asset. I like to try a variety of items. Some of my many favorites is the cabbage, the roast beef, fried chicken and mashed potatoes. I could go on. The cabbage is absolutely the best! Made just like my mother used to make. Absolutely have not been able to find that anywhere else! The Chicken is delicious! Crispy and moist like I love with such great flavor! The Roast beef, oh man this needs no review if you have ever tried it! If you haven't , you must! And the mashed potatoes are so great I always eat too much of that. Frankly, I have yet to try something that was not exceptional! I could eat here everyday if it was not so far away for me. But the trip is well worth it. These times require extra precautions and I see them taking things seriously so I feel quite comfortable eating at Golden Corral. With all the other places doing only drive thru or take out, it is a great break to be able to sit down and eat in the restaurant. If you have tried the one in Mt Airy NC, you should! Really good all the way around has a really good early bird I think last till around 3 Monday through Friday. Really nice wait staff here. Overall really clean. Using the three C's of great diners and dives which is cleanliness, cost-effectiveness, and most importantly great customer service. This is a excellent Golden Corral and yes they are using covid-19 restrictions. So on your way in to visit Andy Griffith's hometown this is a good stop. May God be with you always. This Golden Corral is an older property that has been converted into the newer stations concept. As a conversion, it does not have the space for all of the newer things like we find in Raleigh at the locations on Capital Blvd and Glenwood Ave. Having said that, there is certainly an ample variety of foods on the buffet. I did notice sirloin beef tips with gravy available, and I had not seen this on a GC buffet before. Was our first time at a Golden Corral. Most in NY have very average or below reviews. I'm not a buffet fan, my wife likes the Asian style buffets. I was pleasantly surprised with this place and she was also. In fact we went a second time a month later. Food is pretty good. Most things I tried was hot and fresh, except the fries...that's just luck of the draw, and I don't need those anyhow. I don't remember what I tried in each visit, so this is from 2 visits, not just 1: The salad bar looked great...but I'm shell-shocked from buffet salad bars. A couple times too many did I suffer later on. So I stayed away. The fried chicken was pretty tasty. The smoked chicken was surprisingly good...and I'm not a chicken lover. The burgers were "well done", but still not bad. I think you can get them made to order though....I didn't. The bacon was crisp and fairly tasty. Corn on the cob had a weird taste and aftertaste. I'm not real surprised that it wasn't great, just a weird taste though...can't put my finger on it. Popcorn shrimp were good...probably because more breading than shrimp. :oP Fried fish was pretty good. Pot roast was good. Dessert area is actually pretty good. I imagine they're all direct from Sysco foods or Curtze or some other supplier, so, couldn't go wrong there, I guess. Clean restaurant. Attentive service. Very clean restrooms. Though one paper towel dispenser and soap dispenser were not working. I mention it only because it was about a month in between visits, and the second time was the same as the first. read more

Golden Corral has always been a favorite. They honor the military every year on Veterans ' Day & we honor them by making them our go to place for birthdays & other celebrations, or just when we're hungry. Service is our tradition, as is Golden Corral - until this year. Of course, things changed, due to COVID-19. That was expected. What wasn't expected was the betrayal of Golden Corral to service men & women! They advertised that the Veterans ' Day tradition we all look forward to would be honored in a different way. Veterans were to pick up a voucher during the month of November and the voucher was to be used before the end of May 2021. We went to this Golden Corral well before the end of November - we quit giving those out on Friday - so, I pulled up the ad that declared the last day of pickup would be November 30. " We ran out & corporate hasn't given us more ". So, we both called & messaged corporate on this double take made by the Mount Airy store. We never heard back. We don't appreciate being scammed nor dishonored by our contact being ignored. Golden Corral - if you don't want us, we will honor another establishment. Goodbye, Golden Corral. Food is kept warm & replenished. Services is very hit & miss & the environment is fast paced due to the large amount of people coming & going. Prices are a bit pricey for the quality if food but you do get all you can eat so there isnt much to complain about. read more

This is my dad's favorite restaurant so the day after Christmas we all met for lunch. It's not fancy and it's always packed. The food is what it is, abundant and pretty good. The salad bar is huge with plenty of spincach, man I love spinach. No fresh tomatoes that day. Hmmm. I opted for bourbon chicken and pot roast. One scoop of mixed greens and I was ready to chow down. I was informed they didn't have any vinegar. Who eats greens without vinegar? Also they didn't offer any steak for lunch. Big letdown. The desert bar overflowed with cakes, pies, all sorts of baked goods and of course the ice cream machine. All in all a good meal for eight bucks. This was the first visit for my family. The food was excellent. The steak was fatty but very tasty. I was quite surprised with the selection and they even have ribs on the Buffett. We went at a busy time and the image that I had in my head the whole time was one of those videos during shark week when they through chum in the water and the sharks go nuts eating. We went for lunch on a Thursday, unaware of a school field trip, consisting of about 60-75 children would be there.....OMG it was a nightmare, my feet stuck to the floor and it was crazy. I commend the staff for keeping the food bins full at all times and clean plates out!! Our server was on her game, kept our plates cleared and drinks full! Completely Un-Appetizing environment all the way around: Each buffet station looked unsanitary. Employees walked by spilled food on the buffets, smashed food on the floor, various spills, etc, and pretended not to notice. Many buffet items were sub-par, and the remaining buffet items were *barely* average. This place has been in a steady decline for the past few years... Even on a good day here, the food is barely worth $5 per person, never mind the $30 that it costs two adults (and that price is WITHOUT drinks.. just ice water) for a weekend dinner. I mean.. We have eaten there lots of times, but tonight will be my last. Roaches on the wall by the food the cooked called someone over to get it. Was killed with a napkin and never seen her wash her hands. Then kids playing in the chocolate fountain licking his fingers and sticking back in the chocolate. We had to get up and leave. Will never eat there again read more

The last three times I've went at least two foods on my plate have been cold or tough. It used to be really good.
