We came to celebrate my mother's birthday on Sunday November 9th and our server was Ashley. We had about a party of 13. They didn't have a big enough table so they sat us at 3 separate tables. When we were seated at our table our server Ashley already seemed overwhelmed and overworked she did not greet us and instead sprayed our table with a heavy chemical and only lightly wiped it down were there were still large puddles of the chemical on the table. I asked her if she could properly dry it and she rudely snatched a few napkins and wiped it but still didn't dry it completely. So my sister and I ended up grabbing more napkins and dried it ourselves. Ashley then threw our utensils on the table and walked away. She did check on our drinks and keeping it full but that was about it. She never asked if we needed anything or even just showed any hospitality since our arrival. If you are that unhappy you should find another job it is not fair to the customers to have to deal with terrible customer service and I feel the company should hold their accountable to provide good service as part of their employee policies. read more

I have to say, we came with little expectations, hearing it's similar to Hometown Buffet or even The Cracker Barrel, as sort of an all-American comfort food basic restaurant. For the price, it's well worth it for the variety. The good thing about buffets is you serve yourself so it's easy and fast and you get a diverse ability to try tasty flavors. There was a party of 12 in front of us. The cashier wasn't in the front yet. But they take your drink order first. It took awhile for the cashier to come. You can seat yourself. The drinks are on a try and you need to carry it to your table. They will take the tray from you after your seated. They will give you refills. They had 3 types of soups. Chicken noodle, clam chowder & I forgot the other one. There's salad, taco station, pastas, pizzas, mash potatoes, meats, desserts, chocolate fountain & cotton candy. Not a bad price for a Buffett. The food was great and our server Kellie made sure we were okay. The reason I'm giving a one-star here is because of the server named Toni. She's so rude to my family and me. I felt so uncomfortable seeing her around. Here's what happened, my family and I are looking for a booth close to the cafeteria. I understand that the table is not cleaned yet but with a family of five and the youngest sleeping on my wife's shoulder, we want to take a seat right away and secure the booth until someone comes to clean it. Then Toni came raising her voice telling us we can't sit there because the table wasn't ready yet. We understand that the table is not ready but I think you could say it politely. We came there to eat and relax and here's the service we would get? But this is not what really made me frustrated. We ended up seating on the booth we want and another server (Kellie) came and cleaned our table. Kellie was very nice and polite. Then Toni came to vacuum the floor. I watched her while she was vacuuming and when she passed by my wife's seat, she then intentionally hit my wife's seat with the vacuum, not knowing that I was behind her and watching her. This is when I loosed my temper and told her "Excuse me? Did you do that on purpose? She said no and then continued vacuuming the floor hitting other's seats with guests just to show that's how she vacuums the floor. But come on, I'm not stupid. I know your intentions. Let me start by saying we are not from this area. We live in Southern California and we have golden corrals near us and they are not nearly as clean or have as good food. Pros Good tasting food. Good variety. Large facility. There were several large parties all seated easily. Cons Staff was busting buns, but it was still tough to get drinks or silverware. Golden Corral in Orem honored my half birthday coupon that was emailed to me but said good only at their Midvale location. Since I moved to Utah county, I very much appreciated this. I immediately headed to the grill and asked for a medium well steak. The young lady with the tongs picked up a blood red piece of steak and asked if that was okay...I replied that it appeared to be medium rare and I will wait for a medium well one. Along comes an employee and she gives him a perfectly cooked medium well steak! I thought I was invisible so I again ask for a medium well steak. She cuts off a small piece that has a piece of gristle perfectly centered within it and I figure if I reject this one the wait for a nicely cooked steak will be unbearable. The baked beans, bourbon chicken, onion rings, slushee drinks, and hush puppies are all worth repeating at this buffet style restaurant. There is a picture window at this location that affords a great view of the Southern Wasatch range. It is about as far away from the food stations that you can get, but is a lovely view. read more

I love saddling up to the old feeding trough (not literally obviously) and just going to town on all my favorites! It was here that I discovered the joy of pizza with gravy and steak with ranch. There's a million flavor combos just begging to get tasted! Golden Corral really and truly got me through some of the hardest times of my life. My wife had just left me, I was starting to slip in my college courses, and depression had all but pushed me over the edge. Then I saw the red and gold sign that felt like home. This was our first and last visit to this location. Let's begin by saying the service was great including our server Jacoby. The only side eye I got was from the woman writing the cotton candy machine because I interrupted her video stream on her phone. Now the negative: they don't list ahead of time which items they're out of. Came here because my local Corral in Las Vegas is closed so it was a good chance to finally have food at one. Couldn't get the one item I wanted: Bourbon chicken. At every other location around the country, this is advertised everywhere because it's that popular but they had none here. The other food in the restaurant was overcooked except the steak. The steak was excellent and I recommend you get it when there. Big thumbs up. Pulled pork was tasty as well but I didn't finish anything else I tried (I went through a lot of options just to be sure). They also didn't have lids for their to-go cups. If you remove the service, I'd give it 1-2 stars but everyone was helpful and nice so I bumped it up to 3 stars thanks to that. read more

If I could give it a minus 10, I would... Went there while visiting family in October and it was pure GARBAGE!!! Hardly any food on the buffet tables/counters, not much of a variety of food either. I wanted a steak RARE, and what he gave me was almost totally cooked, just a little pink inside. When a asked for a different piece that was rare he got snobby and said that's the way he cooks it. Plus the piece of steak was only about a quarter of an inch thick, our Golden Corral where we go in Michigan the steaks are around a full inch thick, and they cook it the way you want! Although the new space is beautiful the food is much lower in quality than the old space. Everything I tried tasted old. My little boy and I went for steak specifically and we were there for an hour and they always seemed to be cooking some but it was never ready. Knowing that majority of the people there will most likely want steak, they should have it ready at all times. Luis was our server and he was great. That said, Orem's Golden Corral isn't a shabby place to hit up for our annual GC trip. Pros: -Decent food at an excellent price (under $30 for lunch for 2 adults and 1 9-12 year old) -Unlimited quantities (think the Saturday before Fast Sunday) -Casual environment -Baby changing station in the men's restroom Cons: -I've never been to a GC and thought "this place is a model of cleanliness" so Orem's GC meets the status quo there -You're eating with others who think GC is a budget-friendly, all-you-can eat food bar....take that as you will -No privacy Our most recent foray into the Land of Plenty was on a Friday around 2pm. There was no line and everything (plates, utensils, and food) were pretty well stocked. Our server was attentive and friendly; drinks stayed filled and plates were bused promptly. Don't ask for a spoon! I am left shocked at my recent experience with Golden Corral in Orem. What a saddening decline in the food industry when I pay money to get flipped off for asking for a spoon. As my child and I got to the dessert bar, the ice cream cups were gone. There were several other customers waiting for the cups so I went to the side of the buffet to see if a worker was close by. When the lady came out of the galley door, I said "excuse me" upon which she turned, looked at me and without a word gave me the hand "" and went past me to the oven. I would have appreciated a simple, "I'll be right with you!" or any proper acknowledgement of my presence. I waited until she came back and then asked if she had any more cups. Wordlessly she walked away and replaced the cups. Later I went back to get a spoon. The container of spoons at the dessert bar were empty so I asked a different worker right next to them if she had any more spoons. Her response was "ask your server". I responded that the dessert spoons were empty pointing to the empty cup. She looked at me and then pointed to the other lady (the worker from the cup experience) and said "ask her". So I approached the lady and nicely asked her if she had any more spoons. She says nothing and points across the room. **By this point I'm annoyed. Why can't she use words? I have no idea what she is even pointing to!** I respond--"I'm sorry, I don't understand where you are pointing to!" She looked at me annoyed and then changed fingers from her pointer finger to the middle finger, FLIPS ME OFF with a scowl and tells me "above the Mac and cheese!" What!!?! Is this what the Golden Corral standard is for employees? Is this what customer service in the food industry is? I literally got flipped off for asking someone to refill a spoon container. The Golden Corral has food just about as good as any buffet could get. It's nothing to be crazy about, with exception of the rolls and banana pudding which are OUTSTANDING. However, the sheer quantity and variety for the price offered (especially the lunch special) is just so tantalizing it does draw me in and tempt me to return. The waiters are nice here and frequent the tables to refill drinks and sauces but they aren't ever pushy or in your way. Basically, the Golden Corral is the lowest risk restaurant because, like any restaurant, you can try any food offered, but unlike any other restaurant, if you don't like it, you simply stack your plate on the edge of the table and go grab something new. It's a fun experience to try at a reasonable price, even if the food quality isn't fantastic. read more
