This place is filthy and the food is flavorless. All the meats were very overcooked and dry and most were actually burned. ALL the greens in the salad bar were obviously old because they were turning brown. There was food littered all over the bar and on the floors. None of the labeling was correct and at the meat craving station I waited 10 minutes for someone behind the counter to help me. One worker saw me, acknowledged me but proceeded to not help me. I came into the Golden Corral in Orem Utah I had 11 year old boy. I got a piece of chicken. That had a thumb tack in it a red thumb tack.thank goodness he cut his chicken open in Sturgis biting into a like most kids would. That could have done a lot of damage. I had the manager come over which was the actual store manager. And he wouldn't take fault for that being in his food.he even swear that he knew that for sure that none of his people would do that.he would not take any fault or responsibility and he actually even blame me for doing that. I told him that I wasn't out looking for a free meal.but if you actually would have got her it would be in a lawsuit and he still did not take responsibility. Try to put it back on me like I put it in there. All my years of being in management 30 years I've never had a manager disrespect and not take responsibility for their store. The store manager's name was Ryan. He should not be a store manager if something so horrific could happen and not take responsibility for it. We used to like coming here with our family. We won't be back. It's dirty. Facility was dusty and iffy. Tables aren't being cleaned well. Spills on the serving counters weren't being cleaned up. The food was bad. Undercooked shrimp. Overcooked and mushy vegetables. Salad bar ingredients in bad condition. Watery salad dressing. The hard ice cream has was melted and refrozen with ice crystals. An empty container was tossed in on top of the other cartons. The soft ice cream machines were filthy and some flavors were out. Everything that was fried was over-the-top greasy. Rubbery jello. They weren't cleaning up as they go in the kitchen. (What a mess!) The air conditioning in 3/4 of the building wasn't working well. I'm kind of scared that I ate there. My husband and traveled 75 miles to get to this restaurant and arrived on a Tuesday at lunch time. We were hoping to sample their new Smokehouse food items that we've been seeing on television. When we got there, there wasn't anything that could be mistaken for smokehouse food. Then I visit the website and it says "weekend menu". The television ad doesn't say weekend; the ad on the door on the way into the restaurant doesn't say weekend... it says all day, every day. We were so disappointed to have traveled so far only to not find the advertised items that we will never go back. I guess a "thanks for nothing, Golden Corral" is in order here. read more

Apparently Golden Corral just does not train their people well in cooking steak. Moreover, the worker does not really understood English. When I asked for medium rare she gave me well done. I had to use my finger to point which piece I want. The quality of foods in this branch are below standard. The staff need to be retrained on how to cook the food and how to present the food. read more

ONE WORD, FILTHY!!!! Went here Sunday, Aug 21 during a time it wasn't busy. The food options are different and they're tryna step up but my oh my is this place a filth!!!! Haven't been to this location in years and I walked in thinking, wth happened? I understand this is a buffet and a family restaurant but CLEANLINESS makes a HUGE IMPRESSION!!!!!! There was food droppings on the floor and all over the counters. Some food mixed in other pans, yuck!!!! I cringed when I walked to the salad and dessert area. Holy, kids carnival! Dried ice cream marks, candy scattered and mixed, choc fountain droppings everywhere, and dessert scoopers left out way too long. I seen a few customers wipe down the salad bar area and utensils. Heck, I had to use a new fork every time to scoop my food as the utensils were oily. I'm not exaggerating, I'm just disappointed. If you had seen what I saw, imagine the bathrooms. I left with a sick stomach!!!!! Not kidding. I'm battling food poisoning from here and so are my other fam Mbrs. I don't know how this location is still open. It's gross (excuse me) as f***!!! N all I had was a tiny portion of Mac n cheese n a tiny salad. NEVER GOING BACK!!!!!!! *** this place reminds me of that restaurant show where a famous chef is helping restaurants/bars come back to life and finds the restaurant/ bars nasty azz filth!!!!!! This place smells awful. The bathrooms are super gross. Employees eating in aprons in main area. Employees using the bathroom with aprons on. Ughhhh. We came on the premium weekend and it was bad. The teriyaki sirloin was blue. Not rare. Black and blue. Really not the place you want to eat a black and blue steak if your into that sort of thing. The salmon was white and salmon flavored, not even close to the real thing. The prime rib was very mediocre at best but they were out of horseradish sauce at 6pm on a Sunday. How does that happen? You can't have prime rib without horseradish. Shrimp was overdone each time they brought it out. Sooo much of the food was just old and gross. We used to really like this place but I'm hoping my husband never try's to drag me into this place again. Also hoping I don't get food poisoning.... Pray for me. read more

This Golden Corral recently changed management, and is now horrible in every way. The service is pathetic beyond belief, and the food is not only terrible, but is unsafe. Several of my family members got very sick after eating there. One of them was so sick, they missed work for over a week. Most Golden Corral buffets I have had are pretty good. This one was not good. Many of the vegetables appeared to have been sitting awhile with fresh ones dumped on top. The containers of lemons had seafood salad dropped in it, then fresh lemons were dumped on top. In general the salad bar area was very untidy. The servers were friendly. read more

Horrible. The options for food are limited and have a very bland flavor, worst of all, most of the food items were COLD. The silverware sets don't have spoons, so we had to go looking for them, and one of the spoons had a CHUNK of FOOD on the back. Absolutely disgusting, the service was mediocre. They had run out of soup spoons and took forever to restock, which is very inconvenient. Overall a very disgusting place. read more

I have been coming into golden corral for my whole life. I have never seen the likes of management of so much hate and disrespect for the employees as I have seen at this location. They do not let their employees eat unless it is before shift or after shift some of the shifts go for 14 hours, I do not think it is right that people don't get to eat in that long of a time period. I have witnessed carbon monoxide poisoning that was taking care of very quickly. Employees were under a lot of stress at that point in time. There was a manger that walked in that night and lifted a hand to get things straightened out. I'm not a doctor but there was two baby's lost in the a week of each other at that time. and if you got a problem with what I'm saying you can investigate and see if I'm lying about the 2 baby's that were lost. OSHA was called in to take care of the problem employees and customers were having head aces. You would think the state of Utah would have enough rules take care of workers eating every so often. State says they are for kids but don't realize its all kids working here. If my kids were working there me and the management would be having a big problem. I don't appreciate the jerks they are to the workers. I have heard management say they cant stand waitress and waiters if they try to eat they bully them, they are supposed to eat in the back and certain mangers bring there families in and eat in front of the people they tell that cant have food while working. people that have family working there need to stand up and say something. The restrooms are very dirty and no soap or hot water today. Its is pretty sad that the state of Utah cant put laws out to take care of the kids that work there. The price was low and the food quality decent for a buffet. They do not let you get your own drinks, and the servers are quite slow. Also, the plate and utinsil location is not intuitive. Other than that a decent bang for your buck. read more

We have been going here for the past 20+ years. The food is not so bad, except the chicken 50% of the time is undercooked, They keep having specials (really great egg rolls or chicken pot pie) but then they are gone. The "servers" and "manager" will only say that they don't make the decision for any specials. I don't eat beef, so I'm stuck with half-cooked chicken or "catfish" which I don't like. The "servers" are 85% of the time nice, but sometimes they don't come back to refill your glasses. This is frustrating because the only reason they do this is so the patron feels obligated to leave the customary $2 tip. I can't say I'm 100% disappointed with this place, but it's either this or the up-chuck-a-rama (pun intended). The price is quite reasonable. read more

Every time my husband and I are deciding where to go out to dinner we always end up at Golden Corral. The y have a great variety of food, good prices, and the quality of the food is better than you would expect for the price. We often bring our friends and family because everyone can eat whatever they want and as much as they want. We like to treat because everyone gets so much for so little and we seem more generous than we need to be by going to a more expensive restaurant. So unbelievably dissatisfied. I have never seen this Golden Corral in Orem Utah so filthy. We went today for breakfast Sunday Oct 16 2016. They were out of everything. We waited 20 min for bacon, no hashbrowns long lines waiting for things to come out. Our server took 15 min to bring us coffee, never came back,never brought more coffee, never took plates. Ate here for a family Christmas party and it was the most disgusting food and meal I have ever attempted to eat in my life. Couldn't even swallow any of it, it was that bad. Sometimes the food is hit or miss, but we always found something worth going in for. At times the steaks have been tough as leather, but we got worse at places like Sizzler who specializes in steaks and at least here, if you get a bad steak, you just go and get another without any flack from the server. Only slam is their cutting back on real mashed potatoes and adding in some instant ones mixed in with real spuds. All in all a great value for the money. All of our relatives from back East insist on eating at GC every time they come for a visit if that means anything. read more

I've twelve years in Restaurant Management. I've been to several Golden Corral locations in Utah. This one I've visited at least a dozen times. I've read some of the less flattering reviews and wonder if these folks were at this Orem location. On some of my visits I've seen some messes, because this is a family buffet restaurant. Kids of all ages dine here and really young children tend to like the softer foods like, potatoes with or without gravy, mac-n-cheese etc. They tend to eat with their hands or with silverware they are just learning to use, hence some makes it to the floor. On these incidents the Staff are quick to clean up, once the family leaves. As for the food, on occasion I too have found an entrée or two not as good as on other trips. However, I've never not been able to find another entrée which was prepared very well. All in all, I've never left having eaten more than I probably should have. I've never had to agonize over whether or not to complain when my steak, wings, fried chicken, or fish was not excellent. If I got something not up to my pretty high standard, I simply left it on my plate and got another one or another entrée. No fuss, no worrying about the cook spitting on my food cause I complained, etc. The latter has only happened twice, which is not too bad considering I dine with my family, so one must multiply the twelve by at least six to get the full context of this positive review. read more

Dirty Dirty Dirty !!! Every time I end up at the orem golden corral, I am horrified by what I see the workers do. Last night I watched the worker at the salad bar use her food gloves to wipe off the counter with a dirty rag and open doors and push on top of the overflowing garbage and then she used the same dirty gloves to handle each piece of sliced watermelon as she used her hands to scooped them into the serving tray. I tried to explain to the woman that she had just made a horrible mistake but she didn't speak English. None of them speak English. The time before that I watched the salad bar worker pick up tongs that had fallen on the floor and put them back into the serving tray. Who trains these people?
