When I received an invitation to celebrate a relative's bday for dinner here, I had to think back awhile to not only how long it had been since I ate at Golden Corral but just buffets period. I'm not a fan of them for several reasons but the main one being that food sitting out for anyone to cough over, touch, etc just doesnt sit well with me. But that's not the biggest issue here because the food would have to be edible and desirable first before you would be bothered by earing food people touched or coughed on. As a foodie, to not think anything was worth eating is saying alot. Much of what I saw visually was unappealing. The best part of the buffet was probably the salad bar and the fried fish and shrimp. I didn't eat a salad because I wanted my money's worth so I piled my plate with fried shrimp, fish, and jalapenos. Decent but I strive to not eat a whole plate of fried food. To help with my guilt, I saw some roasted zucchini and made a meal of it. Saving my appetite for this meal was my least favorite flex because calories count and my motto is I don't mind them counting if its worth it. This meal was not at all. Maybe a decade ago, Golden Corral had pretty good food, but even the dessert was subpar. Prime example; the ice cream machines produced soupy remnants of what could have been ice cream. Everything could have been better with a little time and attention to detail and presentation. Additionally, this location is definetly ran down and needs much TLC, but we didn't take it out on our servers, who tried to attend to our refills and need for condiments, napkins, and utensils for our party of 15 plus. Therefore we pooled together and left a generous tip but this place is neither Golden or one you want to Corral at for any meal anytime soon. read more

Racially profiling, plate watching, incompetent manger Lou made this a terrible experience for me. I came here to get breakfast but decided to stay against my better judgement. Should have stuck with my first mind. Food was mid. My husband said he did not like his food at all, I encouraged him to try something else. That's when I noticed the waitress take Lou my husband plate and Lou literally walked over to see who my husband was. This was terribly embarrassing for him. When we were walking to get dessert we heard "thank you for coming" and the 4 waitress as well as the manager stood by began speaking in Spanish and laughing at us. It's a Buffet!!! From door to table service here is never short of excellent. The staff on the register was patient and informative. The staff member who service the table for removal of empty plates and drink refills was amazing. The noise level was almost un-noticed and moderate. When pans ran out the servers behind the bar were equally helpful and worked replace them and allowing your continued consumption experience pleasure. The food was more than a delight as they have both warm and cold dishes that are vegan friendly. Also I believe the cherry pie is vegan, always verify for clarity. Thank you for reading! read more

I love to eat at GC. The place has a nice ambiance. I like to go to the back room, where it is mostly quiet, to eat and read. The day I went there, a server named Willie really made my day. He made sure that my needs were met and always had a nice smile and a great attitude. I have a few favorites I like to eat from the buffet. I love the carrot cake, brownies and cookies, and the fried fish, it is sooo good, as well as the little cheese burger, they are wonderful. Would you feel comfortable eating after seeing this on your plate? i don't think so.. to start of we waited like ten mins just to be seated being the only ones in line, there was a lady sitting at the register just talking to everyone and chilling there ( we're waiting there because the signs literally say to do so ) we had to talk to someone in order to be seated and they pointed out that SHE was going to seat us. then we ate and my husbands barbecue chicken was raw!the front lady said it could've been barbecue sauce because it's not possible that it's raw judging by the fact that they "check the food with a thermometer every hour". refused a refund because we stayed and i ate my food (this was my husbands food) his teeth could barely even break through the meat itself and they sat there and said it could've just be the sauce. our server even seen his plate and said it was raw and he was going to talk to someone. please save yourself the food poisoning and go to like a chick-fil-a or something but not this ish. read more

If you had zero stars that's what I would have rated. Granted I'm not the kind to do nasty reviews or negative reviews, but the cashier (man in green shirt) manager? was real horrible. I passed by this Golden Correal with memories of a sumptuous buffet full of a variety of hot, tasty dishes and famous yeast rolls. I turn in, ready to fill up. I left hungry and angry that I had spent money on such a horrible buffet. The food was below required temperature. The dressing was room temperature as well as the baked and fried chicken. I informed the manager that the food was at room temperature and he just blew me off. The store bought rolls were barely room temperature and had been sitting out a long time, by the way it tasted. The food was pretty good, bourbon chicken was ehh, not really what I was expecting. It was cold. Very cold not even room temperature. Other than that fresh food was immediately rushing out the door. Now the dessert bar is not the place for people that love sweets. Hot desserts were hot, the chocolate fudge fountain not on, cooks talking. Usually we eat at the Gulf Fwy location. The restaurant is clean, food is usually very fresh & service is excellent. We ate in Pearland tonight because it was convenient. That was a bad mistake that I will never repeat. Dinner time on Saturday night, we had to wait almost 10 min just for someone to man the register and that person left the food service line. Salad bar. 1 worker (only at times). Left me standing in line for more than 10 min as he left to assist another customer & never returned. Food service line. 2 workers to serve food & to cook steaks. No one worked at the desserts and yet it wasn't supposed to be self-serve. Didn't have salad dressings, cheese choices, meats for salad, or scooped ice cream. The excuse: "Well, we haven't had much business." The meats were overcooked, dry & ice cold by the time you could help In filling your plate. However they did have their weekend premium prices. $60 for 4 to eat this parred down menu. Considering GC for dinner? Not a bad place to eat. We usually really enjoy it. Ya know, maybe I'm just happy they exceeded my really low expectations, but I thought they were pretty dang good. I mean, yes, it's a buffet, and yes, it's just plain ol' comfort food that includes a lot of carbs and fried items and whatnot, and the people can be a little irritating, but all in all, this was a really good experience! I knew they would be busy, but we got there about 1:15 on Thanksgiving afternoon, and there was about a 15 minute wait, so that wasn't bad. You pay and get your drinks, and wait to be seated, then let the gorging begin! With two ice teas and two buffets, it was $32 and some change. So not a cheap meal, but you get to eat all you want. They were busy, and of course the area with the turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and such was almost always busy, but if they were out of something, they filled it back up, and everything was hot, so that was great! I hate cold food on a buffet...ew. They had a salad/fruit bar, and a Chinese selection, and tacos and fried shrimp and hushpuppies, and the traditional Thanksgiving fare, and baked chicken, and macaroni and cheese and steak, and fried chicken, and pot roast, and pizza, and of course the dessert bar as well. Really, they had a lot of different kinds of food. And they kept it filled and rotated, so that was nice. Hubby got some fries that weren't real hot, but everything else he got, and everything I got was hot and fresh...or at least kept heated. The dessert bar was a little disappointing as I didn't find too much that I wanted to indulge in, although the chocolate waterfall is fun. I got as piece of chocolate cake that was good, but saw the carrot cake after so kinda wish I had gotten that instead, as I LOVE carrot cake. The people weren't too irritating, although why do people let their kids run wild at a buffet? Most people were polite and in a good mood, although you do get the few that feel like they can line bandit. Um. No. Get back in line like the rest of us. All in all, it was a good place. The people were friendly, and efficient, and of course we left a really good tip, as hey, it was Thanksgiving, plus our waiter was really good. I was impressed. It seems as though Golden Corral has went down increasingly. Here I've included picture of their dirty cups that they are voluntarily handing out to guests. I also notice a mildew sliced cucumber in the salad bar. I've also included some pictures of the yogurt (ice cream) machine, as you can see there's buildup all around the handles and underneath is mold near where the actual yogurt comes out. The waitress started out well refilling drinks, and as they noticed how longer we were staying they just stopped coming around all together. I also wanted to order a steak, when I went up to the station they said that there is no one to cook them. There weren't many options of food there. Food looks like it sits out for a couple of hours. It wasn't until after we ate I noticed all of the insecurities of the buffet. Even ketchup bottles weren't clean. There was also loud music blasting from the back of the kitchen....you could hear it over the regular music the buffet was playing. This place seems dirty and understaffed. read more

An oldie but goodie - sometimes. Buffet style with so many choices. We like coming during the holidays for the dressing and turkey. We haven't been by in a long time but came in for the variety since we couldn't make up our minds on where to go for lunch. We came in right when brunch ended at 2. There's something for everyone here. Seafood, salad, chicken, steaks and of course, dessert! There's a whole section for dessert!! My son loves their cotton candy. They'll make fresh ones for you if they're out. There are cookies, cupcakes, pies, cakes, ice cream, pudding and more. I admit, it's not getting any foodie awards but for parents on a budget or those with picky kids, it'll do. We used to try to wake up early enough to eat breakfast here every once in while because it sort of reminded us of hotel breakfast buffets. They've got eggs, hash, potatoes, waffles, pancakes, etc... But alas, we came right when their brunch hour ended so we had to make do with their lunch selection. I usually like their pot roast but today I saw they had pulled-chicken in gravy which I paired with their dressing. Yum! They also have some pretty good fried chicken. What else do I usually favor? Their shrimp, fried fish, chicken noodle soup and make your own nachos station. They've got a variety of fruits and salads which is near their breakfast area. The rolls here are superb! They used to have their own butter packets but I didn't see any today which was a let down because they're very good paired with their super soft rolls. We really feasted on lunch today. Either it's the holiday menu or they've changed something because I thoroughly enjoyed eating here today and felt like I truly ate my money's worth. my wife started working in the kitchen and unfortunately she had to resign the same day due to how dirty it is every single area in the kitchen, she left with a headache from the smell of sewer in the kitchen, they told her that they do not pay overtime, 0 benefits do not allow them to drink water, while they are working, also a man arrived yelling at everybody that he was a professional graduated, that he was going to fix the problems in the restaurant and whoever did not like it could leave, without any sign of politeness yelling at the employees and worst of all that there were customers listening to the shouting etc. we will never eat in that filthy place anymore, be careful!!! read more

Two, the insane amount of people who are expecting a steakhouse experience at Golden Corral is absolutely hilarious. There's no way this is currently a 2 star restaurant. My waitress was very polite, pleasant, and didn't bother me. The salad and food areas had the usual Golden Corral assortments. This Location is really hit or miss.... We like buffets and really want to like coming to Golden Corral because we genuinely like their food choices. This location is subpar and out of 4 chances to get it right, they succeeded just once. It's a shame they can't get it together here. First, let me start by saying that Golden Corral has been a staple in my diet growing up. It was probably the first buffet type restaurant I ever remember going to. Back in the day when your parents would say that you and your sibling were all under 7 yrs. old so you pay less at the cash register. Now that I am an adult, I'm sad to say that I have probably only ate at Golden Corral maybe 3 times in the past 10 years. :( Golden Corral is like those places were you say...." Hmmm... I havent been here in a while, and I'm craving their rolls." And when you're done eating you say... "the food was Ehhh..... rolls were still good tho." The food isn't the greatest but it also isn't the worst. It's a buffet and you can't expect prime cut steak and super fresh seafood. The food is oily, greasy, and watered down. I'm happy to say that the Buttered bread rolls are still scrumptious! The place always stays busy. Good luck on Sundays after church. I comb over the usual fried fare, and hit up some fried chicken and buffalo wings. Both, nothing to rave about. I love the veggies here...they need a bit more salt but otherwise tasty and aren't sitting in the pan for 6 hours. I do enjoy the Grille tho, where they cook to order your steak. When you ask for medium rare... expect medium. . The meat is still good though, just not the best. If you're hungry and don't know what you want then stop on by. This was a unpleasant experience. I was standing waiting for my steak, and had asked for 2 mid rare steaks. When I had gotten to my table, I cut it open, and was shocked. This steak was cooked to hell dry and gray, and the other one was just a big piece of fat, and to add to it they were burned. All of the other food was mediocre. read more
