Went here for lunch and enjoyed my experience, especially compared to a different location that I had went to. This location was neat, clean, well organized and they kept the food trays full. The floors and tables were clean too. The staff and servers were really nice. Our table server kept a pleasant smile on his face and kept our table clean. I also enjoyed the food I had. I didn't get much meat but the sides and veggies were good. There were just a few vegetables that needed more seasoning. My favorite was the sweet potato casserole. It was just right for me. I have to share my experience with Golden Corral in Victoria Texas.I moved here from sugarland texas several years ago I used to eat a golden corral a lot, I would give the food here, sir B to A C plus Last year. I think the staff was very good at your jobs.But the management has problems. Mostly a older woman who looks like she runs everything after being rude on 2 occasions and do and disrespectful. I had not gone there in 5 or 6 months. Today I wanted a baked Potato and a small piece of steak and a vegetable and salafter after arriving there around 5 o'clock. There were no potatoes. Baked potatoes in a display counter. I got my steak and salad awhile and checked again for Baked potatoes I then told the drive to counter there is no Potatoes out He very nicely said He will put. Some out. After waiting to eat for over 5 min saw what looked like a female who was in charge. So I told her no Baked potatoes. And disappeared in the back for another 5 minutes or longer.Now my food is getting cold. I asked a guy that was making mistakes to check on the baked potatoes and why they're not being put out.He went back and talked to her. Then there was a discussion back and forth still no answer. After that I said well , i'm going to sit down and eat my food before gets cold Then I was informed that it would be an hour until baked potatoes would be ready. So I asked the guy at the register So I , could I have When I get Home. He said sure it's 899 a pound.Will charge you for I explained.That's what I came in for steak salad and baked potato. After spending seventeen dollars And being a senior I couldn't even eaten half of That amount of money. The only reason I started going back there.It's because the sign Posted under new management.. Visiting Viktoria, we all wanted something different to eat. My wife suggested Golden corral figured what the heck. To my surprise the food was hot prepared correctly and had good flavor. All the stuff from the hostess to the waitress we're on point. Smiles and welcoming atmosphere made us feel comfortable. The team on the steak grill did a fabulous job keeping everything stocked hot and cut to order. I read some of the other reviews and it's hard to believe that this was the same place. The team here did a great job. States were good and tender fried chicken was hot and crispy desserts could not stop eating extremely well. Good job Y'all we will be back read more

Today, I returned with my family and can say I am impressed with my experience after the ones I had over two years ago. The service was great, and the food was hot and kept up. They had a leader, not sure if it was a manager, behind the hotline keeping the food stocked and making sure everyone stayed on their toes. This was a major improvement over the last time I was there, when the employees were standing around laughing and joking instead of doing their jobs. The other customers around us were all having a good meal and I could see people going back for seconds and the salad and dessert bars were both very busy. This is my first time here at Golden Corral in Victoria, and I got by far the best extra service effort I've ever had! I'm 8 months pregnant, and boy was I craving some chocolate chip cookies after my meal! There wasn't any, so I had asked a lady if some fresh could be made. To be honest I wasn't too sure if they were going to be made, but I checked back and she told me they had to cool. Wellll I must've been looking a little too intently because a gentleman came by, I believe he was a manager based on how he spoke, and asked me if I was looking for something, and I explained I was waiting for cookies. Well he left and came back to tell me they had just popped out of the oven a few minutes prior and they would be out soon. To my absolute joy, a few minutes later! He brought me a plate with some fresh cookies ! Ohh man did I feel extra happy. Call it a pregnant moment, I don't care, but that extra effort meant the world to me! Pork steaks were inedible... they were grilled to a crisp.. i took pictures... pot roast never was refilled.. most of the proteins that were on the line looked dryed out... the popcorn shrimp looked and tasted like it was fried in old grease... the fried okra was mushy... mac and cheese was spot on! Unfortunately my last trip to the line to get something sweet for my dismal meal... you cook drops what i assume is a clean pan in the floor... picks it up looks around and then dumps fresh food into it... COME ON!! NOW I FEEL THE NEED TO GO PUKE! Mean while the tall cook in solid black stands there and scratches his junk... no.. never ever will i come back to this location... utter disgust... Let me tell you I have been to golden corrals all over the place. This it the best one I have every been to, hands down the best! 1st service was awesome we had our drinks full the whole time. She ask many times if we needed help to find any thing on the buffet. 2nd food fresh, hot and great! Every thing we tried was awesome! We had a party of 7 so we tried most of every thing!! Desserts were Great I mean all of them yes I tried several!! The way dad and I were just treated at Golden Corral is disgusting and I will NEVER go there again. I checked him out of the nursing home for dinner, and he wanted to go there because that's where grandma always liked to go. After dinner, dad was tired and I had trouble getting him in the car, and he fell over. An employee that was out smoking came and help, but had to go back to find someone else to help him because dad was so heavy. A few minutes later he comes out with a message from the manager that "none of his employees can help, but we can call the police?" Seriously? So the guy helps me alone and we both mess up our backs. I go in to ask the manager what his issue is, and he and the employees around him denied that anyone had even asked for aid. Ok, so, I saw this guy in the window talking to no one? Relatives said this restaurant used to serve awful food but now they've improved over the past few months. We came over to eat on dinner, I gotta say that it was good call on the meal. The best one I ate here is their Auntie B's Fried Chicken, the Gravy, Mac & Cheese, Pork, Boiled Spinach, Broccoli & Cheese Soup, and the Ice Cream. Most people prefer the Grill Section and they offer great meals but imo their steak taste bad and also the beefsteak with onions, tastes raw. The most noticeable section is the dessert as you look around. The Green Section offers great vegan options but the salad ranch taste nasty. I also think the bread rolls are somewhat hard on the bottom and soft on the top but they are dripping with butter, I don't recommend them. The service was exceptional, cleaning and maintaining but I think someone needs to be at the ice cream section all the time. The restrooms are a little filthy, I think it needs to be constantly cleaned. Overall, an exceptional buffet and grill, good for the price, good for families, needs to improve on hygiene and wide selection of food. read more

Was passing through Victoria today and decided to stop at Golden Corral (always one of my favorite places to stop)....Inside was clean and well organized....food was hot and tasty....our server was exceptional ...attending to our every need and constantly checking on us.... Don't let this one go GC (Elise I believe was her name... she was great ) ...With Covid on the rise, Loved the way the staff wore masks and gloves .....there was a sign stating customers must wear mask and gloves when going to buffet but I did not see it as enforced as several patrons did not wear gloves when handling the utensils at the buffet...on another note , both soap dispensers in the restroom were empty (dont they check these often? ) ...we informed our server of this and she did say she would let the appropriate person know...all and all, a good experience otherwise.....will definitely be back!! read more

Honestly this hasn't to do with food. This is from me working there and I wouldn't recommend working there.REMINDER IM 17. I used to work at this place in Victoria and I can honestly say, really poor management. Don't get me wrong the people I worked with were amazing and nice people. But there was one manager name jessi I believe that was his name. One day supposedly they had a complaint about the food and that I answered the phone (that wasn't true) and that I told her that I could give her a coupon. When that manager speaker to me about it. I told him that wasn't true and I never spoke to any person that day. He yelled at me because of that reason. The next day he started yelling at me again because my "pants" weren't the right pants but when I asked the other managers about them they said they were fine and that there was nothing wrong with them. and I told him That the other managers said they were fine. He got angry and told the owner. Then, all of sudden I wasn't on the schedule, he told the owner that I was being rude to the customers and to other people when that wasn't true. He took the the manager word for it and believed him. I had told then previously that I have a (ADHD) Attention high deficiency disorder. I'm other words I can't concentrate really well. Also, when I would tell the managers about people finding roaches in their food they just brushed it off and wouldn't Believe the customers. I recently had breakfast here. While the GC is really small and the selection is not HUGE, it's still good. The pancakes were a little burnt, but they had banana bread french toast to make up for that! Also, they serve cotton candy on the dessert bar!! I've never seen that at any other Golden Corral. I was desperate for a salad and couldnt think of anywhere that had a salad with just what I wanted on it, so I caved and headed to Golden Corral. To be fair, the food isnt terrible here, its just... buffet food. Its meant to be kept warm under lights for long periods of time. Everything just tastes sort of bland and covered in butter. The meat was mostly fatty, gristly and subpar, except for the rotisserie chicken, which was very good. The worst part about Golden Corral is the feeling of being in a crazy barn. There are wild, screaming children everywhere and the floor, bathrooms and buffet are a total mess. People clearly dont care that there are signs everywhere that children under 10 have to be supervised. I watched a little girl cover a plate in chocolate at the chocolate fountain and no one attempted to stop her. I also watched kids stick their hands in jars of gummy bears, stick fingers up the ice cream machine and nearly run me over as they ran across the restaurant with plates full of mac and cheese. Went for thanksgiving and they kept the foods filled, even with how busy it was and how much people were serving themselves! Waitress was nice, checked on us appropriately and kept our drinks full. Me and my family went to this location today for the first time in 5 years that its been since I've been to Victoria and i was very impressed! When we first walked in, it didn't take long to notice that it was already cleaner than the San Antonio location and the staff was very friendly! We sat at our table and were greeted by Malik who thanked us for coming and told us he would be serving us. During the hour or so that we were there Malik came to our table at least 6 times each time smiling and asking if we needed our plates taken or our glasses filled. Needless to say we enjoyed our time there and were very thankful that we had such good food and friendly waiters helping make our meal better!!! Golden Corral ruined my birthday dinner. I had honestly not eaten here since the 80's. Boy have these ppl went down hill. I actually got 2 dinners, one for the next day. I ended up trashing both and ordering elsewhere from Texas Roadhouse. Thank you Texas Roadhouse for giving me a REAL steak I could chew. First meal the Steak I ordered was supposed to be cooked Medium. It was beyond well done, burnt. Maybe Golden Corral needs to teach their cooks how to cook first. Start by learning what MEDIUM is which is NOT burnt, I mean well done. Steaks should be the easiest foods to make. Put it this way, it was soo overcooked I had to put it on a cutting board and with my sharp steak knife I had to saw through it. And of course when you over cook steak, it severely shrinks even more. I almost threw it away in the bag because they placed it in a small container by itself. I guess if it fits in a small plastic green bean side container why not save their larger containers. After i sawed it in half I gave each piece of shoe leather to my dogs, which actually was only a bite for each, thats how sadly small it was. A name like Golden Corral is very misleading, you only have ONE steak, really? I could not imagine if I ordered the family dinner of steaks and getting 6 pieces of shoe leather. Next was the dinner I was supposed to have the next day, the fried chicken. Obviously it was sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while. The outside crust was as hard as the outside of the steak. The meat had an old taste, which explains why because when you leave fried chicken sitting under a heat lamp, the oily skin is absorbed in the meat. Tasted horrible. I pulled the crust off along with the bones and my dogs got that too. Now the sides. I got a side of green beans which were from a can, plain tasting. I ordered a salad. Now how could they mess up a salad? They did, it was drowning in ranch dressing. The lettuce wilted, croutons were soggy bread. Who in their right mind places that much dressing on a salad? I ordered mac and cheese with the chicken. The mac and cheese OLD, OLD, OLD. Did not touch that either. The rolls were edible. For dessert, banana pudding. As angry as I was that they ruined my WHOLE meal, I actually laughed at this one. It was vanilla pudding with sliced bananas in it and topped with whipped cream. Who doesn't put cookies in banana pudding. Really???? I counted 3 slices of banana. Thank you Golden Corral for ruining my birthday dinner and wasting $35 of my money. I have been there twice and each time, I picked up more than one plate only to find chunks of food on the under side. Not just stuck on little bits, I mean CHUNKS stuck between the plates so clearly this stack of dishes was not washed. This has happened both times I went. Well I've been coming to this place since I was a kid and this location was always the best. Then came the recent remodel. We eat here maybe once every month or so. Staff probably doesn't help because the service was absolutely horrible. The food took a huge dive in the wrong direction and it was the Saturday night buffet. Was expecting some solid food based off their latest commercial but we had to leave hungry actually for the first time ever and go snag fast food after..... At an all you can eat 60 dollar buffet for me my wife and 13 year old daughter... I thought I could salvage the night with the soft serve machine but they were out of vanilla. I asked the lady working desserts and wow what an experience with her. She said it would take 15 minutes.... Fine I'll wait I said. In the meantime I was going to grab a bowl of chocolate. No bowls in the area so I ask her for one. Tells me to goto the salad bar when there's at least 40 bowls behind the counter which I pointed at but she refused to give me a damn bowl. Like what the hell man. If you don't like your job in customer service, quit. I waited 30 minutes.... Still no soft serve. This place is okay--pretty standard for golden corral. The food wasn't particularly fresh when I went at around 12:30 pm. Someone of it was pretty good, some of it wasn't. I also got a salad, and some of my cucumber slices had a hole in them, almost like a worm had been through them. Other than that, no issues with the food.
