We are traveling and I ordered a dinner for take out. It just wasn't good. It wasn't terrible or overly disgusting, just not good. The sesame chicken is sweet and sour chicken with sesame seeds in the batter. Not every piece is chicken, some of it is just batter. The fried rice, vegetables, and egg drop soup are bland. This place is GREAT! We were driving thru on a road trip and stopped here for lunch. I guess if the service was "slow" it was because there were only two people on the floor for the whole restaurant. So it didn't bother us at all.. They were working hard. I had sushi and a Chinese dish, both were great. My bf had the dinner special where you choose 4 different things and he loved it. While visiting Baker city over the last few months I tried Golden Crown two times. Each time I ordered a different meal. I tried a stir fry that was so full of corn starch I could not taste the vegetables. The next time I tried General Tao Chicken - there was tiny pieces of chicken inside a large deep fried bread ball. Several balls did not even have chicken. So gross. I did enjoy the pot stickers so 1 star for that. I would not recommend this restaurant read more

They left the phone off the hook for over 30 minutes as I listened to servers talking about how they intentionally leave the phone busy so they don't have to take phone orders. Even drove down to the restaurant to confirm the issue and they all acted as though they had no clue. Even though I had proof. Terrible service! Far beyond any other I have ever experienced. What is even worse was when you get a chinese fortune cookie you expect something good, cute, proverb.. Not so with there fortune cookies, ours all read, "trust your spirit guides, they are here to support you".. So when we got home we looked up the cookies and they come from psychic company.. So if you have kids or young adults who do not know the difference please educate them or remove this place from your eatery.. Baker's Golden Crown just plain sucks. The chicken is rubber. Seriously. The asian gravy is cold grease. The veggies are poor quality The sweet and sour chicken is all breading and you might find a speck of chicken in the puff. Same for sweet and sour shrimp. Service is iffy. If you order take out, put an extra hour on the time that they tell you to pick up. I know COVID and all...but this was pre-C OI VID too. Lots of local crack head wait staff. I have had some bad food experiences in my life. But this place rates with some of the worst. Where to start? First, they were greatly understaffed. The poor waitress was responsible for the whole dining room and the outdoor patio area by herself. She did the best with what she had. It took us an hour and twenty minutes to order, eat and run out the door. Both our meals were absolutely tasteless. I had the seafood lo mein, it was terrible. My wife had a combination plate and it was equally bad... I was wondering if they had any type of seasonings back in the kitchen that they could have used. Both plates needed it. Highly recommend!! I use to love the divey little Chinese place down the street from here (yeah, I know...) and was sad to see that they closed. I came here even though it seemed like it was going to be a hip trendy place and I'm not necessarily into that these days. Anyway, turns out they ARE kinda hip and trendy but with that hometown hole-in-the- wall feel (with better lighting ). Staff (Morgan) is fantastic! Service was super fast. Food was SO GOOD!!!!! Full bar makes this spot on the river just perfect as a spot to relax. Great pitstop off the highway. And after all that greatness, I got several shots, a cider and all this food for under 30$!!! I realize that food is very subjective, but my wife and I are always on the lookout for excellent Chicken Pad Thai. We have eaten this dish in Medford and Tigard Oregon and Olympia Washington. Never have we ever had Chicken Pad Thai as good as is offered at the Golden Crown restaurant. It contains generous helpings of perfectly done chicken, scallions and was liberally sprinkled with chopped peanuts. I ordered potstickers and wonton soup. I could eat the potstickers with my fingers, but how do they expect me to eat soup without utensils? It's probably just as well because the food was horrible. The soup had barbecue pork, chicken, and shrimp included, all of which were not seasoned that I could tell. Bland and no flavor. The potstickers were not edible. We were a bit concerned based on the reviews but after swinging in for lunch on a Sunday I can say that I have no idea what everyone is complaining about. The place was pack with smiling and satisfied customers. The service was excellent. Drinks were refilled as soon as they were emptied without hesitation. Meals had great flavor and were quality, hot and delivered quick. Bonus - two adults ate and drank, with to go boxes for $21 - that's a steal. We've always liked GC, but we are SO glad that they've added more Thai entrees! Our favorites, Kao Soi and fresh avocado rolls, are a treat when there's no other Thai food for 50 miles. We love the wait staff and family friendly setting and look forward to outdoor dining again right by the river-- a wonderful way to finish a good walk along the Adler Pathway or playtime in the Geiser-Pollman Park across the street. Restaurants just had restrictions lifted on indoor dining so many restaurants were trying to figure out their new protocol. 3.5 stars for this establishment is far too generous. The shrimp roll appetizer was ok. Wonton soup was disgustingly salty and inedible. Broccoli chicken mediocre with super overcooked, soggy broccoli. I will eat just about any Chinese food, until now. Had to throw out the soup and half the broccoli chicken. Front counter was in disarray and filthy. Staff was friendly but did not give me any utensils nor napkins which I specifically asked for and was assured was in my sealed bag. This place really is shitty. The place only had a few other patrons, and we saw maybe two people stop in to pick up to-go orders. So, why did we have to wait over 10 minutes to have our orders taken? Why did we never get a check-in after our food arrived, and why did it arrive luke warm? We started with an order of egg rolls that were entirely too greasy and ...doughy? There was something terribly off about them, and the sauce was strange as well. Our main courses, Kung-Pao Beef and Mongolian Beef, were ordered specifically "HOT" but came out with no more heat than a mild order should have been. The lack of enough actual beef slices was a let down, but could have been acceptable had the orders been spicy and steaming. One star is even to much. Came in for dinner 3 waitresses on duty. An hour later we received menus and water because we flagged down a waitress and asked. Chris Morgan just wanted to continue to go outside and deal with the three tables which only had two or three people each at them it was more important to go outside forget about the people inside.other customers were complaining they didn't even get their soup. Chris argued with us about getting the soup to us and arguing with us the customer. We would walk out but we had already ordered this will be our last and final time we ever come back here again. If the owner had a camera and sat and watched how his employees other than this Liz she's the best he would see there is a problem here. And if he knows and isn't doing anything about it then shame on him. This was the only place we ever came Since the day they opened.
