Beauty, artistry, tenacity, and badassery take full form in Laurel Tynes, who I've had the privilege to be tattooed by not once, not twice, but three times. I was referred to Laurel by a friend when I described a pretty specific idea I had for a tattoo for my dog. She did an amazing (and quick!) job with that first one....and I proceeded to get the itch. She designed a beautiful, intricate bouquet (also dedicated to my pup) that took the better side of four hours, but with several breaks and Laurel's moral support, it wasn't no thang. This past tattoo has got to be my favorite so far, a concept that Laurel brought to me after knowing I wanted to do, at least, a half sleeve for my dog. She designed a beautiful "crawling dog" that's completely perfect and unique, and I couldn't be happier. Check her out and book her, you won't regret it!

This is a no attitude, friendly establishment with artists that take pride in what they do. For me, a tattoo is so much more than the end result. If I have a shitty experience getting inked, a masterpiece of a tattoo can never be beautiful. Needless to say, I think my ink is beautiful. Jordan has been working on some art on my hands over the last several weeks. He is a true craftsman that takes pride in what he does and has even taken the time to help me develop my own skills as an artist. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Truly a gem in North Park. Pay them a visit!

We walked in kinda last minute, & Francis was very professional, kinda and accommodating. I was concerned as I wanted a pretty specific tattoo (I had a picture with me) and I wasn't sure it was his style. Specifically, this tattoo was small & delicate, although simple. I've wanted to get a tattoo for some time and I'm glad I waited and ended up coming here. Mark and I discussed my idea and thought behind it and he was able to draw up my tattoo digitally. Communication was excellent and once I gave the go, we scheduled it and a few sessions later Mark delivered me my first tattoo. I'm already thinking of another, and that's telling you something as I live in Los Angeles and San Diego isnt close. The parlour is welcoming and the artists are super friendly, even the customers were great. My friend came with me for my first session, she was so impressed that she ended up getting a tattoo too!

I got my very first tattoo by Mark. It was a great experience. We collaborated on a design that would combine pisces (both parents) and leo (all siblings). Mark has now done two of my tattoos, the most recent a sacred heart. Love, love, love the colors and how it came out. So excited to find a talented artist. Golden Days is a solid choice for your tattoo needs. I have recommended this place to co-workers, friends and family. Everyone who works at this shop is kind, approachable, and willing to listen to your ideas. If you live nearby, walking distance or are a little bit of a drive away, I'd suggest checking out all the artist's instagram pages and seeing if anyone's tattoos speak to you. This shop can do your simple line tattoos as well that you find from Pinterest, but do check out their work if you're are considering something bigger than a few words. This is a solid shop here in SD. This shop is around some good food options if you get hungry. I have been tattooed here by Francis and he is a gentle giant with a light tattooing hand. Francis can give you a clean, bold, and legible tattoo that will stand the test of time. He has tattooed me and I got a rose that is drawn-to-fit. See picture. Anyone who offers to draw a piece on without a stencil is worth the time. Francis has tattooed myself little brother as well and I don't send my family to just anyone off the street either. read more

I thought it was deserving to circle back around with a pic & Update. Got two tattoos done in the same session by Laurel and it was such a pleasant experience! Sometimes tattoo shops can be intimidating but she was so welcoming and personable it made me feel comfortable. Her work was great and she made sure I was happy with the designs and placement. I do not have enough good things to say about my experience at this shop. I recently came with a friend and we walked in for small tattoos. Francis was our tattoo artist, and he was amazing! He is super gentle, patient, and kind. He did not make us feel dumb for any questions or being picky about the tattoo placement or sizing. We ended up at this shop on a whim and this place will now be my go-to in San Diego. I love my tattoo, the lines are thin and super neat for the design that I got. You will NOT regret coming here, worth every dollar! read more

I'm not one to write reviews, but I have to today because my experience with Francis was incredible. Even though I came in with a specific design, the care and dedication that Francis showed made it seem like it was his own original design. He put in so much extra time and effort just to make sure it was perfect for me, and I cannot express how grateful I am for his attention to detail and willingness to find how to make this tattoo perfect. On top of that, Francis is a wonderful person and I really enjoyed getting to know him and chatting throughout the process. There are a lot of tattoo shops around San Diego, but Francis and Golden Days have outshone my expectations of any tattoo experience. I will definitely be going back to him for future work. I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. read more

LAUREL!!! My friend really wanted to get me a tattoo on my birthday and I'm not the type to get tattoos without planning ahead but I didn't wanna pass up the offer. I went along with it and we ended up at Golden Days with Laurel by chance. I'm so glad we did. Not only did my tattoo come out super crisp, clean, & beautiful but I had such a genuinely good time talking to Laurel, and I felt so comfortable and safe in her presence. She proactively made sure I was happy every step of the way. The friend that brought me got her first tattoo that day and she couldn't have been happier either. I was able to make an appointment the day of (very last minute) and they were happy to take me! Francis's work is very professional! He was very specific on the placement and made sure it looked perfect before he began. He also made sure everything was very clean and sanitized. I was very impressed. I love my tattoo! read more

I had Mark do a tattoo for me years ago. As I've shown and told more and more people I'm certain that Mark didn't like me or the tattoo idea maybe? Which ever one. He jacked my price way up. This review is solely based on Alex's tattoo work I was excited to get some mandala dotwork done by him and it came out like complete shit the dots and lines are all blown out it all needs to be completely done over again it's really uneven and just looks terrible.The shop on the other hand is clean and nice and the owner Mark is really nice and makes you feel at home. read more

I got my first tattoo by Francis (@tattoosbyfrancis). Francis took two ideas I had for a portrait and drew up the perfect fusion of the two! Best 1st tattoo experience ever! Francis is very professional, skilled, and ensured I was comfortable throughout. The whole experience was good vibes all around. Also, the shop itself is really clean/up-to-date, and there is parking right around the corner. Laurel is the greatest! I've been tattooed by her twice so far and I had a great experience both times. The shop is so comfortable and such a fun environment. Make sure you pick up a few extra business cards after your session because you are going to be handing them out left and right to all the people asking where you got your work done! read more

I generally only Yelp things that I love, but this poor review is out of respect to those people who care about the ink that they want to get permanently on their bodies. I wouldn't even give this a single star if it had the option. I wanted to get a full back piece done by Mark. My initial meeting with Mark was good. He said that he wanted to make sure that I would love the work that I was to get done and that he would do as many drafts and revisions as I wanted so that I could be confident with my future tattoo. I thought, "Great, I'm glad this guy cares." Only to find that he was full of BS. Mark was not be prepared for the appointments that I set up with him to review the promised drafts, he also said he would email me the drafts, that never happened. I went in for one of my appointments and he was working on a walk-in, even though he had an appointment with me. Obviously, money now is more important that providing the promised service. My last appointment with Mark, he didn't finish the draft, yet he wanted me to just sit down and let him get started because he thought it was "pretty much done". When I said no and set up another appointment, he canceled via text saying that he was having a difficult time with a particular part and wanted to work it out with his mentor and that he would get back to me by a certain date. He didn't get back to me, I had to call him, the last communication I had with him was leaving him a message to call me that he did not return. I never called or went back after that. How do you go from, "it's pretty much done" to "I need to consult my mentor"? Mark is a really great guy, and a great tattoo artist. I would recommend him to anyone that I know to get some sweet work done. However, everyone else here, I trust a little less. Actually not at all. I've had the worst tattoo experiences in this shop when it comes to the other artists. Either they don't have the time to talk to me, make an appointment, or I am just not worth their time, I get the worst customer service. Granted, you don't expect everyone to be the greatest, I would expect people to be a little nicer that I am trading hundreds of dollars, for an hour or two of your time, not to mention I am an AMAZING tipper. I used to come to Mark's as my first choice, and now Mark's is my last. Sorry guys. read more

I called in an hour before I decided to get my tattoo done because I had a couple questions. The guy I talked to was super nice and patient and explained to me how much it would be. I went in with a friend who wanted to get some ink done too but she didn't know what style she wanted it in. So they sat her down at their computer and let her go through different fonts. Finally my guy, Fonzo, sat down with me to design my tattoo. I told him what I wanted and he free-hand drew it out. It was love at first sight. The ink came out even better than I expected. The lines are clean and fine, and i think it's a beautiful tattoo. The two guys that were there that night (Fonzo and the owner) were CHILLLLLLLLL. I would definitely recommend going here to get your ink done, instead of some rip-off parlor in pacific beach. read more

Body Marks is the BEST..!!! The owner Mark is super awesome as well. I've gone back to him three times now. He hooked me up with my first tattoo which was a half sleeve dragon on my left shoulder. The process took a total of seven hours and he only charged me for four. Hella awesome deal. I went back again to Mark a couple years later for my second tattoo which was another half sleeve dragon, this time on my right shoulder. Same deal, he hooked me up again. My most recent visit to Mark was today actually, got an Asian style writing done on the back of my neck, and of course, loved it.! Body Marks recently remodeled their place and it looks even sweeter. Has a really warm welcoming feel to it. The other artists there are cool too. Mark is one hell of a guy, super friendly and super cool. If you're thinking of getting a tat, go to Mark. Tell him I recommended you, he might hook you up too hehe. read more

I understand that everybodies anatomy is different and it could cause a slight tilt on the piercing but it's been weeks since I got the piercing and looking at it now with no more swelling or redness it is almost ridiculous how off the piercing is. It's very obvious and disappointing how crooked it is. I even went home to my home piercer and even he left a comment saying that it was done very poorly. Loved the service and friendliness but unfortunately Im going to take out the piecing let it heal and then get it redone somewhere else. I want to prefaced that I really hate leaving a bad review and I tried to convince myself that it was fine but honestly just the comments I get from my friends and even another piercer about how it looks just kind of made me feel like I needed to share my honest experience.

When my nail technician completed my manicure, she announced, "same!" as if she declared out-loud my powdered pearlescent nails are now magically transformed into the requested nude chrome color. I wish they would've told me upfront that this cannot be done. I would not request for anything out of the basic mani pedi here.

My brother had his first tattoo done at Body Mark's Tattoo and recommended that i check it out. Despite the many clients consulting with their artist, I was quickly greeted and helped right away without an appointment. Sky, the artist that tattooed me, worked with me very well. He was so stoked about doing the tattoo and very receptive to the ideas that i had. He quickly drew up a sketch and it was better than i pictured. He did an AMAZING job! Not only was it far beyond what i imagined, but he also worked with me on my budget. Sky, as well as the other artist, are super chill, the shop was clean and had a good environment. Mark Nes hooked me up with a rad tattoo of a Ballast Point Sculpin IPA bottle of beer (my favorite local beer) pouring an actual Sculpin fish out of the bottle turning the beer into the water the fish is swimming in. the tattoo starts behind my left knee and goes all the way to my ankle joint. I get many compliments and absolutely love his work. I already have my next tattoo scheduled. he made it very comfortable for me and finished the tattoo in 4.5 hours when i should have took over 8 without compromising quality. I strongly suggest checking his work out before you choose another artist around town. read more

Followed my artist Sky to this shop. Love the atmosphere, new remodeling is tasteful and edgy. The owner is awesome and even kept the shop open till 12:30 in the morning so Sky could finish up on a piece for me! This probably wouldn't seem like a big deal but both he and Sky had plans that evening and they put those plans on hold to take care of a customer, NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE! I have been to many shops and have been treated poorly, I was pleasantly suprised when I first went to body mark's. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had been looking online and saw that Nes specialized in lettering and I wanted something going down my forearm. He came up with the sickest custom script I've seen. sharp ,clean, and solid work. I was looking for a female piercer so i could feel more comfortable getting my nipples and private area pierced, and i found one at one shop, but she was rude and wouldnt answer my questions. Then i went to body marks and talked to shelley and she showed me her portfolio and answered all of my questions. she put me at ease and make me feel so much better, and now i have piercings that i totally love!! I got the perfect Tattoo that I had always wanted from Sky this past weekend. He was AWESOME!!! I almost passed out due to simply being a wimp but Sky took his time and allowed me to re-group. He talked me through the pain, the tattoo is healing nicely, and over all it was a nice experience hanging out and meeting the CREW!
