Donuts are good but nothing to write home about. I'd give it a proper 3 stars. Issue I have it the people who work there. You always feels rushed and there always nickel and dining you for something. Before I got to the counter, the woman behind the counter asked if I wanted a dozen donuts. When I declined and asked for a half she looked at me with such disdain. I asked for a half a dozen donuts. Got your basic variety. Three of them were frosted with sprinkles. Suddenly the half dozen donuts had extra charges. Supposedly sprinkled donuts are an extra few dollars. No sign. Just her sudden point of view that was different than what is priced for half a dozen. When I brought it up I suddenly got talked down to as if I should know this is standard. Sprinkled donuts cost more money. Made the drive here cause supposedly these were great. Go to Colorado Donuts in Eagle Rock. Not only great donuts but amazing service. They're not counting how many donut holes they give you like this place. They take care of you and want you to come back. read more

Last weekend, I wanted to visit the Descanso Gardens to get my morning walk before my fitness session. Due to the winter storm weather (heavy rain), the garden was closed for the weekend... bummer! As I was leaving the La Canada Flintridge area, I drove past a donut shop. I noticed its name is called "Golden Donut Place". I thought it was an interesting name and said why not. I haven't had a donut in a while LOL. So I turned back to check this place out. This donut shop seems to be a quite popular. Customers were coming in and out throughout my visit. It's a good size donut joint. They have some indoor eating which is nice because not all donut shops allow dine-in. Atmosphere was comfy. They have a good selection of donuts. I have my go-to donuts... my favorite is the glazed twist and my honorables are custard cream filled, coconut glazed, cinnamon crumb, chocolate twist, maple bar, old-fashion glazed. I'm not much of a fan for cake donut, but I'll eat them if they are the only donut presented in front of me LOL. Anyway, I ended up getting half a dozen... yes, you read right... 6 big ones! LOL I got 2 glazed twists, 1 chocolate twist, 1 custard cream filled (+ $0.30 or $0.35 extra... I don't remember... just know it costs a little bit more LOL), 1 coconut glazed, and 1 maple old-fashion. The glazed twist was good, but nothing compares to Upland Donuts glazed twist... they are still my #1. The custard cream was very light and tasty... not what I'm used to at other donut joints... I liked it a lot... the extra cost was worth it. All the other donuts were good, too. None of them were overly sweet. One of my pet peeve is eating very sweet donuts... it's like eating a few spoonfuls of sugar IMHO. Luckily, I didn't have that experience with these donuts. Staff was very friendly. I constantly heard them saying thank you to their customers. Funny, when I left, I said thank you to them. They were probably surprised that I said it first because I received a hestitated thank you from them. It's all good. I know they have good intentions. Thank you! Anyway, I'll definitely be back here to get my donut fix when I'm visiting the Descanso Gardens area. read more

Service was attentive ambience is what you would expect from a doughnut shop. One of my favorite donughts and how I judge a doughnut shop is the pink cake donut. This one was a swing and a big miss . Super light and spongy zero flavor and the frosting was next to nothing. I know it's a very simple doughnut but if you can't execute this one you might have trouble with the big boys. Cash only. We came right before they closed on Sunday. And the donuts were enjoyable for being an afternoon donut. We ordered one apple fritter and a cake donut. We enjoyed the fact that the apple fritter had a crunch in every bite. It was soft in its interior. I appreciate that the cake donut was not too oily. My wife came here to pick up some donuts for me and the kids due to the good Yelp reviews. She really liked, it but I do think that they are cash only, which is unfortunate. She ordered a dozen mixed for $10, which is a pretty good deal. The donuts were good, but I don't know if they were the "BEST" I ever had. They were good though and quite standard. Even came in the stereotypical pink box, which was pretty great. I do get annoyed when places don't take credit card, but I also understand the reason. This was our go to spot for donuts and milk after Sunday school. They also serve coffee which tasted great especially in the morning. Busier in the mornings compared to after school before closing. It was my first time here and I wanted to buy something to take to my doctor's office. I walked in and the lady was very nice and helpful. My wife works in La Canada and has had these several times and told me about them, so when I dropped my kids off at school one morning remembering that I was supposed to bring in some donuts for work, I decided to jet over here real fast and bring some along. The donuts are certainly fresh, they have a decent variety but it's not a big variety. CASH ONLY which was a bit annoying as I didn't have any on me and had to drive real fast to the bank, get some, and then come back. I walked in, no one ahead of me, ordered the donuts, and walked out. Maybe 5 minutes. I got to work and put the donuts on the table to hear a lot of "mmm's" and "wow, these are really good, where did you get these?" I work near by so I'll pop in for a donut every once in a while. I like their croissants, but not the ham & cheese too much. Unfortunately, they run out quick. I've been there at 8am & they're already out of them at that point. The apple fritter is good. They have what looks like a bear claw but they don't use an almond paste. Everything else is ok. My friend said they have possibly the best French Cruller in town. Now this gets me pretty excited because the french cruller is my FAVORITE style of donut. The first time we came here right after lunch, they were all sold out of crullers (!!!!!) which made me weep, but hey, we're in a donut shop with lots of other options so we got a some standard donuts (glazed round, twist etc). All were good, def fresh tasting and fluffy/airy. Cheap (cash only) and easy to find/park at. So now my urges for a cruller cannot be controlled.....so I figure ok, I need to get there early in the morning before they sell out, so I decided to go before working out (what better time to overload on empty calories right) and sure enough there was a huge selection of crullers on a saturday morning. So what was the verdict? yes, it is mos def one of the best french crullers i've had in town. Many times the cruller can be kind of "wet' in texture but this cruller was just right. Typical light airiness that a cruller should have with that natural moisture inside the dough. On my way to work but needed alittle pick me up, drove by and decided to stop by. It was a great welcoming place. Lots to choose from. The donuts were more of the "traditional " styles which i liked and were decently priced. One of the main workers is apparently the "donut man" and knows just the right variety for a dad and daughter who are frequent Saturday customers and came in for a dozen donuts for her t-ball team. One: the staff is quick. 2: family owned and operated. 3: I asked the owner why his donuts tasted as well balanced as they do it was explained that he doesn't use the 50-50 fat split in cooking. 50% is vegetable fat. 50% animal fat. He spends the extra $ to use 100% vegetable fat. That gives the donut a fresher smell. 4. They change the oils so I've never had those extra burnt bits stuck to my donut. 5.
