I had their sweet and sour chicken and bbq pork fried rice. Both were delicious. Some place I go to, the breading overpowers the chicken. Here, the ratio to breading the chicken is much better balanced. The fried rice was once of the better ones I've had. Both reheated well for lunch the next day and was still great. read more

I read some of the elf reviews and it was a cold blustery day so I went in for some soup and hot food. I started off for the small order of the sweet and sour soup and at $3.50 it was a small little cup but it was loaded with egg drops and diced meat and served with crumbled peanuts on it. I then followed another recommendation to try the Szechuan beef. It wasn't that spicy at all. And I think I would pass on this dish next time. Or figure out a way to get double meat. The vegetables were all fresh and the sauce was delicious I just need something a little meteor. Not the best quality food. I've been here a few times and there is only a couple of items that taste great like there pho. As for there chicken, it taste expired. Their pork fried rice barely had any pork in it and the portion size was only a 1/2 cup size. When traveling over the pass from Western Washington to the east side, it is a favorite to stop for lunch or dinner at the Golden Dragon. This isn't an overwhelming, fast paced or even high priced Chinese restaurant...what you have here is a well established family owned and operated business. Golden Dragon has been here for years...I don't think much has changed either. The food is predictable...it is exactly as you remember it. It arrives to your table steaming hot and tasty. While I do try different dishes, I seem to not stray far from some of my favorites...the #1 dinner combination is a great recommendation, it starts with a cup of egg flower soup (...this ISN'T egg drop soup)...it is made the way soup is meant to be served, no cornstarch, eqq, broth, veggies and meat. We went there at 2 p.m............not too busy. the waitress was short handed (I think someone called in sick) and she was turning people away at door or telling them it would be half hour wait for ordering.................we had a great appetizer combo with lots of goodies. While we were eating she sprayed so much Lysol all over the booth next us it diffed into my food, I could literally taste the air freshener. 3. The place its self looks like the health department would have a hay day 4. We've tried calling in a pick up order on 3 different occasions and no one ever answers the phone. Each time, our large order for a family of 5 ends up going to another local Chinese restaurant. This time I was particularly frustrated because less then 30 minutes before my son went inside and grabbed a take out menu. I figured it was wise to order early (just after 4 p.m.). There was only 1 table seated at that time and he said they were not busy so they easily could of answered and taken the order. So unless we decide to go into the restaurant, which I doubt with the previous dining in reviews.. we won't be trying to order from them again. read more

Whenever I'm in the burg, I make sure to plan accordingly to make it in during the all-you-can-eat-buffet on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays (between 11-2), Awesome array of food options and for $6. You just can't beat it. It's family owned and operated, so don't be surprised if their kids are doing homework at one of the other tables. We go to the Golden Dragon every time we travel to Ellensburg. Jordan (owner/cook) makes the best Mongolian Beef! Having worked there for two+ years when I was in college, I can attest to a few things: The kitchen is clean, the food is fresh and it is made from scratch. (In fact, watching Jordan cook, you wonder how he can get things to taste the same every time. A little scoop from here, a big scoop form there, stir, stir...) The family starts, early in the morning, tenderizing meat in marinades, squeezing fruit for sweet & sour sauce, preparing egg flower soup (the best!) and getting the most popular foods (chow mein, fried rice, deep fried meats, egg rolls, ect.) ready for mass production. The other menu selections like Mongolian Beef, Mu Shu Pork and Thai Curry Chicken are made on the spot when you order. I love their food. I've been trying for years to get them to move to my town. So far I have been unsuccessful so I have to settle for a trip to the Golden Dragon once or twice a year. Mark: They're not Vietnamese, they're Cambodian. Diane: They have raised their three children in this family-owned business. The kids do school work at that table and the adults, who spend 90% of their lives there, use it as their break table. They only have a couple of waiters/waitresses, but they are really good with checking on you to see if you need anything. They serve PHO!! Just read a comment about being sick within 2 hours.
