My only complaint is the menu signage outside is too low for SUVs and the font size is too small to read. Then again in the early early 2000's when both daughters were in music competitions @ CWU, it became an annual migration from the west side. I ordered the double patty "Bulldog Burger" and some very crispy thin cut fries, and they were both fresh and hit the spot. I'll admit I'm a bit biased, since I don't eat beef. However, if you're going to offer a veggie burger, it should be something high quality. I was pleased to find that they weren't offering the nasty fake beef patties that everyone else has, but what they offered instead was the first burger I've ever had that "squirted." The insides actually squeeze out the sides of the bun when you pick up the burger. Not particularly flavorful either. There are a lot of good patties out there based on fresh vegetables that have a good texture. They should look into switching brands. read more

Stopped by U Tote-Em for a quick bite after wandering trails around E-burg. We loved it!! Hubs ordered the Signature burger & fries, and I chose a yummy grilled cheese and thick creamy blackberry shake. And of course we had fry sauce with the fries. Such a great spot, I can see why they were busy, even in the middle of a Monday afternoon. Definitely worth a stop, next time you're in or near Ellensburg. They have indoor seating and plenty of picnic tables both under cover and open to the sun. read more

Overall very solid spot. Came to Ellensburg for an event and wasn't expecting this little surprise. On the way home we saw this cute little drive in filled with people so we decided to try it out. Service was great and food came out super fast. Many options to sit both inside and out with some shade. As for food, fries were definitely a spotlight. Nicely seasoned and great crispy texture, can tell they're fresh. The fry sauce was a perfect pairing, not sure what was in it, maybe coccaine. Tartar sauce was just okay for fries, definitely opt for the fry sauce. I got the campus burger basket, and my dad got the bulldog. Meat was nicely seasoned but a bit salty for a double meat. I think that its thin size for a regular burger makes for a great balance of flavors. Definitely recommend the Campus (or other single patty options). Burger seemed small for the price (was about $21 each for me and my dad, for basket and medium drink), but was very satisfying in the end, so no complaints from me. You can really tell that the ingredients were fresh: lettuce was crispy, tomato was juicy, and pickle was pickley. Every bite was a good harmony. They're no Rossow's - but they're closed now so...... Hamburger was just okay; the patty itself is super thin so getting a double would probably be more like a regular one someplace else. They use canned mushrooms which are yucky - so won't get the mushroom burger again. Fries were kinda floppy so we didn't end up eating many of those. The onion rings were very good and the ice cream cone was delish. It was our first time coming here so we may stop by again when we head east next time. It's mainly kids running the front (I did see a couple adults in the back ) and they were very polite, customer service oriented and friendly. While I was waiting inside, a couple people came back b/c their orders were messed up. The kids handled these with a great attitude and rectified it right away. They get VERY busy both at the walk-up and inside - so you shouldn't be in a hurry. read more

I had a blue cheese burger. Lettuce was yellowed with dark streaks, patty size was similar to that of the 19 cent burgers I had as a teen. I know that inflation has taken it's toll, but the price is the same as I pay for a much better and appropriately sized blue cheese burger at the Porch Restaurant' Indoor seating is similar to that of a railroad diner car if anyone remembers those. The Wife, the Tax Deduction and I were in Ellensburg to tour the Central Washington University (CWU) campus. The Tax Deduction isn't going to be for long, and now it's time to send him off into the world. Before the tour we were looking for a place to grab a quick bite. A friend, who is an alumnus, suggested we try the Campus U-Tote Em. It was easy to find, directly across the street from the CWU campus. It didn't look like much from the road, but looks can be deceiving. It's old, but you can tell it has a great history the minute you walk in the door. The menu is pretty diverse but the burgers are the stars here. We each made our order at the counter. There is seating inside and outside, inside is pretty small but comfortable. Our food came out quickly. The burgers were large and the fries were piping hot. Not only were they visually appealing but they tasted wonderful. You would think a place across from a University would need to be good to stay in business, but this could be one the best fast food burgers we have ever had. If the Tax Deduction does go here, at least we know he'll eat well. The staff was very friendly, the eating area and the kitchen area looked clean. This more than a burger joint, they offer full dinners too. I can see why alumni wax poetic about this spot. read more

The burgers have changed quite a bit with new owners. The burgers used to be so juicy that they had to put a napkin around it inside of the outer wrap. Burger gets a 6.7 from me, the fries an 8, and I'm not a fan of the mayo-ketchup -relish fry sauce every burger place in this area have as their "special sauce". But as far as burgers go, this place has the best in the area. They all have the same kind of frozen patties. Idk what it is. They charged me incorrectly for a chicken burger. Let me explain...I ordered a Hawaiian burger with the substitution of a chicken patty for the beef. I don't eat beef. I was willing to pay a small charge. Instead of ringing me up for a Hawaiian burger with the chicken substitution, they charged me for a chicken burger plus all the individual toppings, which brought the humble chicken burger to $15.00 instead of $8 when I asked them about it, they didn't understand the difference and said this was how they always did it. This place is really cool looking and the Service was really good. I got the special of the day which was a cheese burger basket (with fries) and it was more than $14. The fries were mid, they weren't bad but they weren't crazy good, the fry sauce is really good which is a plus. Everything about the burger was also extremely mid, it was greasy, but nothing to hate exactly. It's not better than most places but it's not worse ether. There really isn't to much to say about this place I'd say it's perfectly average. Would recommend though it's a safe choice. read more

I was shocked! I moved away from the area a year ago and was in town visiting. I was excited about eating at one of my favorite burger joints. We had talked about it all morning and were so excited when we pulled up. This excitement quickly turned to disgust as I was greeted by one of the most hateful employees behind the window. When I asked for a cheeseburger basket and a hamburger, this confused him and threw him into a tirade. What pushed him over the edge was when I asked for no mayo, mustard or onion on the burgers. Disgusted, he tore the ticket he had been working on and vehemently said "I'm going to have to start another one now". At that point, I realized that this place had changed and wasn't worth my time. With a simple nod I looked him in the eyes and said "don't worry about it". Getting back to my car, I started to read other reviews to see if this was just me. I really love old fashioned burger joints, I have quite the sweet spot for them honestly. And looking at Yelp while travelling through Ellensburg just gives me all the feels. It is a joint where you order burgers and it takes a while because they are making them fresh so you can hang in your car while you wait. We took our meals out to a picnic on the river and my heart was so full. Eating burgers and fries on a picnic blanket with my little family was one of the highlights of my summer and I loved it. The cashier was friendly and helpful as I ordered the campus burger, fries, two drinks, and a burger for my friend. Once the food arrived, and swiftly it did, I bit into disappointment. The burger was unappealing to the eye, but all is forgiven in my book if the taste is there. The taste, however, was not. All the ingredients tasted bland and stale. The meat was not seasoned well and had an odd texture. The fries were okay and the drinks were good (a cherry shake and fountain Dr. Pepper). Overall, this place is not somewhere I would get food at. The only complaint that I have was that the service service was a little slow. This is a neat, small town spot to get a burger and fries. I went through the drive thru to order, and they were super busy with a baseball team that just stopped by to eat. This place is hit and miss. I like my fries xtra crispy. Sometimes it's like i get pissed off fries because they are limp and slightly cooked. Tomatoes, lettuce and pickles always look sad. My bacon is still oinkin'. But my husband likes sad food so he keeps going and I get a surprise meal every time. Good thing I have an air fryer at home and fresh pickles. I never tip because cooks are never consistent.
