This has been my favorite Chinese food for a long time. Hot and sour soup is so good, full of mushrooms and tofu with perfect heat. I always get vegetable fried rice which is loaded with perfectly cooked veggies, not just frozen peas and carrots, like other places, but snow peas, bok choy and baby corn. Service has always been reliably friendly and prompt. read more

I placed a pickup order and it was done on time and super hot and ready to eat. I tried the 2-person appetizer sampler and that was neat to try all the different items included. Some were great and some just ok but over all really good. The main reason I love this place is for their Lo Mein dishes. I got the combination to try the different meat options and they all tased great to me. The noodles have a nice brown sauce to them I really like. Not at all like most places dryer noodles. After searching for a good Chinese place since moving here a year and a half ago, we were finally satisfied! And a place that delivers to us? Even better! The crab Rangoons were large and full and tasty. My husband had sweet and sour pork and said it was good, although slightly mushy. Hazard of ordering something fried for delivery, I suppose. But the roast pork fried rice was delicious. Nice, lean pieces of pork and super flavorful rice with veggies. Both the hot and sour soup and egg drop soup were very good, too. The egg rolls weren't the best ever, but decent. The delivery driver was very friendly. Overall, very good and totally hit the spot! Will definitely order again. read more

I found this little place when my son and I were intending to go and eat at Legends of Asia across 7 highway. I braved the mass of vehicles on 7 Highway, and drove across the street. Golden Eggroll stands by itself. It is kind of easy to miss. There is ample parking, and it's a quaintly decorated building. We went in, and were promptly seated. Their buffet at dinner was $7.95. I saw quite a few people getting the takeout buffet. This is a small restaurant, and a small buffet. I liked it. There was one aisle of Chinese food, with choices such as chicken and mushroom (not canned mushrooms), garlic shrimp with zucchini, sesame chicken with possibly the largest cut sesame chicken I've ever seen. There were green beans, (they are good), and some beef entrees. I didn't sample the beef entrees. In the next aisle there was crab ragoon, springrolls, chicken on a stick, fried shrimp,and other choices. The third aisle had desserts. I generally don't try the beef entrees nor some of the desserts. Everything was really good. I ordered water, which was refilled. My son's soda was also refilled. Good service. I intend to eat there again. It's a neighborhood place not terribly crowded, and comfortable. I didn't get pictures cause my son isn't too keen on picture taking at meals. read more

After taking a break from Chinese food for a while, the kids and I started a quest to find the best Chinese takeout/delivery in the Blue Springs and Independence areas. We've tried many, many places and I even wrote a couple of reviews on some of them, but the search has always continued... Until now. The Golden Eggroll was once our favorite Chinese place years ago, but every since they'd moved (twice) from their original location years ago, I thought the quality had fallen off and had pretty much given up on them. But, after trying virtually every Chinese restaurant in a 7-mile radius, we decided to give them another shot. And I'm so happy we did! We've had The Golden Eggroll a few times before writing this review - just to make sure it was as good as we thought. We've ordered Beef and Broccoli, General Tso's Chicken, Orange Chicken and Crab Rangoon multiple times, and here's our opinion: * BEEF & BROCCOLI: The Beef and Broccoli comes standard with an absolutely delicious side of fried rice (no need to specify or pay extra for it like at most places). The beef is flavorful and super tender, while the broccoli and carrots are fresh, bright and perfectly cooked - never being mushy or raw. The brown sauce that accompanies the meat and veggies is rich with actual flavor and doesn't rely on saltiness like lots of other places. In all the time we've had entrées from The Golden Eggroll, we've never once needed to open a pack of soy sauce to flavor anything up. * GENERAL TSO'S CHICKEN: The same delicious side of fried rice that came with the Beef and Broccoli comes with the General Tso's Chicken. The meal itself is heaping pile of breaded and fried chicken morsels that are tossed in a generous amount of sweet and mildly spicy sauce. It's not in anyway "hot", and this is something that varies from restaurant to restaurant so if that is what you're used to or what you expect, it'll take a little doctoring to bring up the heat level. However, I'm sure that would be as simple as just ordering it extra spicy. * ORANGE CHICKEN: Honestly, the Orange Chicken is VERY similar to the General Tso's Chicken. The only difference seems to be that it tastes sweeter since it doesn't have the General Tso's spices to counterbalance it. You also get the same generous and tasty portion of fried rice as in the other entrées. * CRAB RANGOON: The Golden Eggroll's Crab Rangoon is what I feel the "gold standard" should be. It's an absolutely perfect balance of savory and sweet, which makes every bite a true delight. The entrées each come with a single Crab Rangoon packed in the takeout box, so keep that in mind when figuring out if you want an order of 3 or 6 extra Rangoons. Of course, the one packed in the entrées won't be as crisp as the side orders, but it's no less tasty. One more thing, which is a pet peeve of mine: The Golden Eggroll Crab Rangoon are shaped in the traditional "lotus" style - not the lazy, triangular "turnovers" that a lot of restaurants tend to try and pass off as Rangoons. * EGG ROLLS: The Egg Rolls I've had were crisp, flavorful and perfectly balanced with veggies and meat. The fried wonton wrapper was flaky and light, and the filling was well packed, without being too dense, and juicy without making the inside soggy. It's worth mentioning that at the time of this review, we'd spent about $30 on 3 entrées, a double order of Crab Rangoon and an egg roll and discovered a free order of doughnut-thingies in our bag when we unpacked it. So cool! ---------------------------------------- Now for the negatives: While this is a short list, it's worth mentioning. * Delivery: The delivery area is ONLY Blue Springs and Grain Valley. While the food is plenty good enough to be worth the drive to pick it up (and an order of 3 entrées and Crab Rangoon is consistently ready in 10 minutes!), I would LOVE to have it delivered west of Blue Springs. * Consistency: Sometimes the quality of the food is a little better than others. I've noticed that when I go to pick up my food and there are a lot of other orders waiting to be picked up, the quality of the food will be a bit less than when things are slower in the restaurant. So far, even at its worst, The Golden Eggroll still holds its own with the best I've had from other restaurants in the area, but when it's good it's AWESOME!! read more

We threw out more than we ate... their food is horrible. My husband got sesame chicken and said it was gross and tasted old. My daughter got sweet/sour pork and it tasted old or frozen and microwaved. I got combo fried rice with shrimp and the shrimp weren't even cleaned. The egg rolls tasted a day or more old and all our rice was mushy. We will never order from there again read more

Thought we would try some place new. I went in to order a to go order and the place was very calm for a Friday night. Looked clean smelt good, friendly, easy to understand staff. Had good suggestions. The deep fried food was slightly tinged with a darker color, oil likely needed to be changed. Friend rice was great, a real treat. read more

Two in our group ordered cashew shrimp and cashew chicken and were brought out PEANUT dishes instead. I ordered the pork-fried rice and it was the worst PFR I've ever had...tasteless and not much meat, and fatty pork. The rice was wet like Rice-a-Roni is. I ate part of it and threw away the plate. I feel EXTREMELY horrible for Ang C. after reading her review. The experience she and her husband had is definitely FAR from the norm of the service and quality of Golden Eggroll. I will agree that the decor is rather outdated (and out of place for a Chinese restaurant), but that has actually become part of the charm to many patrons/regulars. While their main attraction was the buffet, they also have an extensive menu of single dish items to choose from that always come with steamed or fried rice and a crab rangoon. These dishes are always cooked to order and always fresh. This was originally their main focus, but they added a buffet a couple years ago when they got really popular and focused on it for a while. I haven't been in several months, but I hear the buffet has been taken down, presumably to shift focus back to their single dish items. They deliver as well, which is a huge part of their business. Ang says they visited about 1:00 in the afternoon. This is immediately after their lunch rush, which would explain the lack of food, and perhaps the poor quality as well. And maybe the waitress was having a bad day, or had had a bad lunch rush, but that is no excuse to treat cutsomers as poorly as she did. Yes, some of the employees will shout when you walk in, but it is generally in a friendly and inviting manner, not so unfriendly and brash. I will admit I have talked to a couple employees there who seem rather abrupt, but they all speak English as their second language, so if anyone sounds abrupt I usually chalk it up to the language barrier and shrug it off. However, that doesn't seem the case with Ang's experience. That waitress just seemed rude. I have always enjoyed my experiences at Golden Eggroll, and I think many of their dishes are the best out of the many Chinese places around (including Legends of Asia, which I think is highly overrated and overpriced). I love General Tso's Chicken, and Golden Eggroll is the only place around that still does it right in this girl's opinion. Absolutely horrible. I think we all can understand that times are a bit unorthodox and even difficult for some during this pandemic, so most of us are trying to just make the best of it and support local business. But, tonight was absolutely horrendous. Placed an online delivery order at 5:30pm...7:15pm rolls around and nothing. We keep trying to call and just a business signal. So, we drive up to the restaurant to try and get our food. When we arrive there are about 12 people standing out in front of it (they've boarded up the front door and cut a window in it). I casually ask if everyone was there to place an order or picking up. FOUR people proceed to tell me that they had been waiting there for almost 2 HOURS after they placed their order online at 5:15! Several of us ask to just have our orders canceled and get a refund, but the lady kept refusing us! I told her I was contacting my bank to dispute the charge, and then she magically produced my order! Then "kindly" offered to refund my $2.50 delivery charge! No apologize for the long wait, nothing. Two and half hours later, we finally have our food and it wasn't even worth the 1 star of this review! The General Tso's chicken was bland, the fried rice was just sticky white rice with soy sauce spilled on it and the crab rangoon had NO crab, just cream cheese wantons. Terrible customer service! I had called an order in, picked it up and got home, it wasn't what I ordered. I called they let me know to bring the food back and they will make it correct. (it took 4 calls before getting an answer) the lady at the front argued that I had ordered something different and never ordered steamed rice, in 20 years of me going to this chinese restaurant, never have i been treated like this. The chicken was slimy - think similar to a texture of fat - and the fried rice was just that. No veggies, no egg, just rice. We went to the Golden Egg Roll in Blue Springs last night to enjoy some fast food Chinese. As I was half way through my Moo Goo Gai Pan I noticed a bug that appeared to be a spider. When I showed the man working there he argued with me and said, "That's not a spider. A spider has 8 legs. This only has 6 legs". So I replied and said, "Then you are admitting it's a bug, right?". He then said, "I don't know. I will have to take it in the back and inspect it". He came out and basically didn't say anything. He just gave my food back and started to walk off. So, at that point my husband spoke up and asked if they could at least bring me a half an order since I only ate half before I found the bug. The man agreed to that and then what he brought me wasn't even what I ordered. We were more concerned about the horrible customer service than the bug. They didn't offer us a refund or a new dinner. They not only tried to lie about the bug, but they didn't try to make things right. I was very dissatisfied and they just lost 3 customers because we will never go back. read more

Best Egg Foo Young & Crab Rangoon when it comes to Blue Springs Chinese food! Has been a staple in our family since I was a kid.

With the very RUDE service it is understandable why they have had to "down size" and move to a much smaller space. We usually have our food delivered, but NO MORE. Last night we called in 2 large entree's and a double order of an appetizer, (in which the lady taking the order clearly repeated back to us and was correct) but when our food arrived there was only 1 entrée and the appetizer. The deliver driver called back in and hand my boyfriend the phone and said the "boss" wanted to talked to him. I will spare you the entire 10 minute call but, at first he was very nice and didn't understand how our order could be wrong when she had repeated back and it was right, but when it got there it was wrong. Her tone was very RUDE, she clearly told us "if we didn't like it we go somewhere else". When it was mentioned that because she messed up the order we were not as likely to tip the driver as well either, SHE SAID "SHE NOT CARE ABOUT THE DRIVER". We felt sorry for the driver, he was a very nice young man and was being EVER sooooooo patient. It was not his fault the order was wrong and he was tipped very well for doing his job. It is obvious they do not care about their customers. They do not care if they have repeat customers and they said out loud they don't care about their employee's either. The lady on the phone may or may not be the owner but I don't care. If the owner is going to allow his employee's to talk to his customers that way and treat the other employee's badly, I do not want any part of it.
