It's officially ZERO HOUR! This place needs massive improvements when it comes to customer service, stat! I came here for an AX pool party and walked out. The place is so dead, all I saw was a sad twink who like me couldn't even place an order at the bar. Everyone from the patrons to staff were rude and dismissive. The bar lacked food options and wait times were unacceptable. I walked across the street to 7-Eleven and found more excitement/friendly folks there! The activities and "community" Golden Hour projects are false, it's very exclusionary and frankly not worth the time to visit. This is my final stop at this business. I don't care if your bar has a rotating carousel cover or if your pool is pretty, find some professionalism. read more

First off, Golden Hour is beautiful with the carousel on the rooftop. The pool and ambiance is beautiful and that's about it. We had a reservation on a Thursday night. We walked in and no one greeted us when we walked in so we decided to sit on one of the sofas by the pool that was labeled "reserved." Even after being seated for a few minutes, no one approached us to say hi or ask us if we wanted anything. I went to the bar and asked two staff members if it was okay for us to sit where we were and if we could get some waters to start. They said oh yeah of course it's open seating right now so sit wherever. Take some menus and we'll come by to grab your orders soon. The place was basically empty so we figured someone would stop by and check on us soon. One of the staff members came over and set an outdoor heater next to us and that was it. We waited about 15 minutes and no one else stopped by to take our orders let alone greet us so we left. We didn't have any drinks or food so I can't speak to those, but the customer service is definitely lacking. read more

Went to a pool party at Golden Hour Rooftop at Level 8. The ambiance was nice, although I expected a little more of a party vibe. Overall, it was still a good atmosphere with a decent crowd and good energy. The waitress was attentive, the food was good, and I'd definitely give another pool party there a try. read more

First time here...honestly I thought it was just okay. Nothing extraordinary like wowww! Service was good and we tried ordering food but were told that kitchen was closed and it barely 9p. Wth! Drinks were on the mediocre side, too sweet one and the other was just watered down. We had a total 4 drinks ordered just to see if maybe it was the drink but no there was just no consistency when making the drinks. Ambiance was nice. It must have been like a Jamaican night or dj was Jamaican because that's all that was being played. It has a nice view so I think this in a way kinda makes up for the overall experience. read more

The worst bartenders. They will serve people that just walk up instead of people who have been patiently waiting. They have serious ADHD. And when you try to say something, they give you an attitude. The ambience isnt worth bad service. Really bad service and attitude. My friends told me about the bad service and attitude but wanted to experience it for myself. I came here for the holiday event Winter Hour which was so much fun! Parking was madness because there was a game downtown that same night - but I got lucky with a spot in one of the lots. I got a complimentary drink, there was a s'mores station and cute photo ops spots. I would definitely come back next year for this. read more

Came here after watching the game at crypto, I saw it on Instagram and had high hopes for this place. The drinks were OK, a bit overpriced. It was super crowded, which I kind of expected, but it took forever to get a drink and it wasn't that great. It looked beautiful though and the ambience and aesthetics are nice. I expected the carousel to spin, it didn't. The little igloos to make s'mores we're really cute but that was also a little overpriced too. Cute little date spot. Just expect to spend a pretty penny for mediocre music and drinks. read more

I highly recommend bringing cash if you come here and beware of the bartenders. The first time I came here I caught the bartender taking a photo of my debit card. When I caught him and ask why he said to remember the business name on my card. Super weird and suspicious lol. I ended up going home and canceling my card the same night. This second time I came I decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt and caught the server adding herself an extra tip. She said don't worry I already included the tip you don't need to add any extra. I checked my receipts and she added herself an extra $10 tip per drink that I order. She said each drink is $30 lol. Really beautiful spot with a node view and sunset but suspicious workers. Definitely recommend bringing cash if you come to avoid fraud and also checking the price of the items on the menu before you order. read more

Meh. This place rests on its laurels of its rooftop location and puts no care into their service. When it's packed it's not a great place to be. The pool takes up so much space and most of the tables have to be paid for. This place is for nothing more than a drink or two and on to the next spot. If it's not busy then you might enjoy your time here more. I have not tried their food. If you like Christmas decor it is pretty at night in the Winter time. read more

Came to Golden Hour for my birthday and it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Audreyanne was our server and she was great! The vibes were everything! This is the place to be if you are looking for a rooftop sunset bar. We had espresso martinis, dirty martinis and margaritas and the drinks DO NOT DISAPPOINT!! It's okay to visit one time but the service is atrocious. The music is decent. The host told me it's $100 total when I first arrived Then the tab came out to $100 per person. I also waited 20 minutes plus for my drink. So make sure you're getting up to check on your drinks every 10 minutes lol. Their online reservation has two different prices also. One says $100 per person and the other says $75. So which one is it and why do you have two different rates? What an incompetent management team. read more

Golden Hour is located in the Moxi Hotel on level 8 in Downtown LA. The Moxi hotel has a ton of photo opps on the way up to golden hour which is very cool. Once you get to the rooftop it is really beautiful. The chandelier carousel is classy and fun. When its actual golden hour and the sun is setting the views of downtown are breathtaking. Cost of cocktails is $22 and they charge an 18% gratuity on top of it. So you are looking at almost $30 bucks for a cocktail which is steep. However, the cocktails were pretty great. I was a huge fan of night fever and lava colada. Heads up if you have a reservation it is required to spend $100 per person minimum which is wild. Its a bummer as this is the only seating available on the rooftop. So that also means everyone is standing and crowding the bar area which can make it difficult to order drinks on a busy night. Overall, a cute place to visit in the summer time. read more

The worst experience of my life. Went here today after work to unwind and wait out traffic. Got my drink and food seat down where the hostess said I could seat. Started eating my food when the manager came and rudely asked me to move all the way to the back. The manager was really rude! Then a security came and I asked him to help me since I had my hands busy. They refused to help me. Anyway definitely not coming back Update: went back to one of the other rooms of Level 8 later same night. The manager came by and apologized and the treatment was great! We went tonight and there was snow for a total of 5 minutes for the 3 hours that we were there. And there were also no reindeer as advertised in the ig reels. I would say I'm glad we didn't splurge for the igloo or firepits that were expensive and didn't have good or heating. Overall would not recommend for winter hour read more

First off, it was beautiful. I loved the bar area and since it's close to Christmas time, all of the lights looked beautiful. The service was subpar. Except one of the girls who was very friendly. The other one seemed like she didn't really care to be there or talk to us. They also gave us a menu that was outdated so we ordered items that they weren't even selling. They apologized and gave us the correct menu. The drinks were $22 each but tasted like a $10 cocktail from a local bar. I will not be going back. read more

I came here with my friends and wanted to get a table. Taylor at the host stand was amazing, super friendly, accommodating and bubbly - she explained the table and bottle minimums and made sure we were taken care of. Harley was sweet as well and we enjoyed our bottle service and food. The views are amazing as well as the vibe and the food. We came here for drinks on a Friday night as we waited for our table to become available at Que Barbaro. This place is simply amazing and has to be one of the most esthetically beautiful rooftop bar in LA and I've been to all of them. We love the entire pool cabana vibe and that pineapple carousel bar is so dope! The bartenders were polite, attentive, and just friendly provided great drink recommendations that were delicious and d well crafted. This is one of the bars located at Level 8 in Moxy and it has such a cool ambiance because it's outdoors. At one point when we were outside, there was even a fire dancer. I do think compared to the other bars located on Level 8, this one felt a bit more gimmicky to me. In order to get a table or cabana during a busy night, you may have to satisfy a minimum spend to reserve it. I tried the Everything Whale Be Okay ($20), which was good, but really pricey for a cocktail. You're definitely paying for the atmosphere, but I thought the one here was just okay. It also seems like the pool is never really opened here so it's more for aesthetic than actual use, which is a shame because I think it would be fun during the warmer months! read more

Saw this place all over social media and decided to stop by. We came on a Saturday night and it was extremely crowded. We wanted to try their signature cocktail drinks which required us to wait around ~20 minutes to order at the main bar. There is a second bar across from the main bar if you want to order basic drinks which doesn't have a long wait. The main bar was really nice and was essentially a rotating carousel which they are known for. The drinks however were pretty strong and lacked flavor. There was also nice house music playing but it can get a little loud to hold conversations. Overall, the ambiance of the bar is amazing but the drinks are mediocre. read more

This place has no food to purchase, only alcohol, but you can bring food from the food trucks located down the hall in the Brown Sheep. The service was exceptional. It's adjacent to Que Bárbaro restaurant and has a beautiful upscale bar. The golden hour was amazing. It had a carousel bar with cute decorations. The bar is big and spacious with plenty of seating outside. Cute pool and cabana seating. I will return in the summer to get the full effect. Beautiful view of Los Angeles. read more

Honestly this is the best bar located in the Moxy/level 8. The ambiance reminds me of Las Vegas day club vibes. I honestly think they did a pretty good job with the concept. I got there a little early before it got too crowded so that's a plus. They offer drinks at the bar and table service. Drinks are a bit overpriced but you're definitely paying for the ambiance. I think it's a good place to catch a drink and vibe out before dinner. After dinner, I came back to check it out but it was way too crowded. read more

I make 6 figure$ and I can say this place is SO EXPENSIVE! Bartenders are SO DRY and always seem angry. Lots of seating, only if you reserve a spot, the last times I went. (bar seating is free), nevertheless, t's a BEAUTIFUL space !!! Too bad it doesn't seem customer friendly. read more

Golden Hour is a part of level 8 at the Moxy Hotel. It's outdoors at the pool area, nice set up with a chill vibe. Drinks are on the expensive end, and aren't as great as you might expect. I had made a reservation for five and was told that, in order to sit our group, we would need to pay $750 for a seating area. If that was the case, what's the point of a reservation? So we went to the bar, which was full, and sat in a small chair. One of the staff came up and asked if we reserved that area (out of the way, no signs on it, was to the side of the bar), to which we said no, and he told us it's $50 per person to sit in a chair there. So we promptly got up and exited the area. Should you visit Golden Hour? Literally just peak your head in to see it and leave, don't stay, don't pay for anything there, definitely not worth the ridiculous pricing they're trying to swindle you for read more

I felt like he didn't want to be there..looked like he was annoyed with my presence. Anywho I proceeded with showing him a pic of a drink ( This pic was on the golden hour page in their Instagram ) and he tells me he doesn't know what drink that is, he then proceeds to tell me to read off the menu. What kind of bar tender does not know the drinks they offer at their bar ?! He then makes me a drink and it was not what I expected. Highly recommend coming to Golden Hour during the golden hour aka sunset. There's a reason why it's called golden hour in the first place. The view of the sun behind the carousel is just stunning. [ Getting here ] Entrance to level 8 is on W. Pico Blvd next to the entrance to the Moxy Hotel. There you'll find a line for reservations and then a line for general admissions/walk-ins. Note that this is the same line for all the other new restaurants and bars so I would recommend going early if you don't have a reservation. Once you're past the security guards, you'll need to go through the elevator to 8th floor, hence why it's called level 8. [ Reservations ] I came here on a Saturday at 6pm for the 6:30pm sunset and it was perfect. First of all, I was told that I should make reservations but I honestly couldn't find the option to do so when I was planning. Now it seems like you'll be able to make the reservation at Open Table. Yes I tried specifically looking it up on Open Table and it wasn't created yet few weeks ago. I tried emailing and was told that standing room at the bar will not need any reservations. If you do want to reserve a table, they require a bottle service minimum of $1,500 for parties of 7+. I did not have reservation and luckily didn't need to wait in any lines. We were able to even get seated at one of the reserved tables next to the bar since those reservations are for later. If you come early enough, it's way less crowded and you get an amazing view of the sunset. [ Bar ] Great concept and experience with this carousel bar, except their drinks need a lot of improvements. The drinks remind me of those cheap pool drinks that are light in alcohol for around $20+. On top of that, this bar automatically added gratuity on our bill for the 4 of us. Expect to pay around $100 for 4 drinks. Either they're still in improvement stage or they're betting on customers visiting for the vibes instead of the drinks. I did hear that you're not allowed to wear flats/sandals, so I would recommend just dressing up a little! read more

The focal point of the deck is Golden Hour, a poolside carousel bar whose rotating top is strung with lights and hanging chandeliers like a Carnival float. The large, luminescent bar is visible from the street, capturing the imagination of passers-by. Guests can sip Latin-inspired cocktails along with small plates infused with the flavors of the tropics. The larger pool is used for swimming, while the shallow wading pool provides a venue for live performances — such as a 20 fire-breathing act or an underwater contortionist — when not used for sunbathing. Good size crowd, but it was easy enough to get a drink from the bar. Vibes were good and got better when the Gumbo Brothers came on. They are a cover band, but specific to hip hop and RnB, and they killed it. Jay on the sax was amazing, and Apollo on the mic was perfect. We will be back on Friday or Saturday, since I believe that's when the Gumbo Brothers are there.

I finally was able to check it off, thanks to a hotel offer with a dining credit. Dahlia is the gorgeous petite space behind the larger ground floor restaurant space now called Cabrillo (formerly Caldo Verde). Dahlia opened as a bespoke cocktail lounge, then began to offer tea. Now it's just tea. There are five 2-tops and two 4-top tables. All food and beverage venues at the Proper used to be under the auspices of famed chef Suzanne Goin and her business partner/sommelier Caroline Styne. They are no longer affiliated with the Proper, but many of their dishes/contributions remain. The last named vestige of them is on the tea menu, "Suzanne's Deviled-Egg Sandwich". The tea menu has several options: Classic, with a seasonal mocktail, or with different champagnes. I opted for the Classic experience, because the mocktail had mocha, not my fave. Server Lluvia was clearly a Dahlia veteran; she offered a tea-smelling of all the teas that interested me as well as crowd favourites. I ultimately chose one of these faves, Mad Hatter's Tea Party, which had passionfruit and vanilla. I declined milk/cream, but did get lemon. There were rock sugar sticks on the table. It seems the selection of tea sandwiches and sweet treats changes every so often, although the vanilla bean scone, dried currant scone, Devonshire cream and apricot orange jam seem like constants. The sandwich selection at my visit were: cucumber, crab/creme fraiche, beet hummus on pita, smoked salmon and Suzanne's deviled egg. All were delish, the beet, crab and deviled egg especially. The sweet treats were: orange fig butter cookie, spiced apple brown butter crumble, cranberry frangipane hand pie, chocolate mocha macaron, pumpkin madeleine, plus the 2 scones. All were excellent. There were no leftovers. A bit pricey, but a relaxing and lovely experience. The room was not crowded when I visited, adding to the calmness of my visit.

Leaving: After 20 min wait for our car, the valet attendant gave us the key, asked us to find our car (which was close) and had us serve-serve. Would I go again? Absolutely not. I fear I am not the only one who sees it that way - as half the tables were open - on a Saturday night from 5.30-8:30pm. A shame, as we brought friends and were coming to have a good time.

I recently visited Golden Hour, a bar known for its stunning decor and carousel picture, and I must say, the ambiance is truly captivating. However, my experience with their drinks left me less than impressed. Let's start with the prices. Golden Hour's drinks are undeniably overpriced, $25 drink I ordered. While I don't mind paying a premium for a quality beverage, I was disappointed when my drink arrived in a plastic cup. For the price I paid, I expected a more elevated presentation that matches the bar's aesthetic. Sadly, the quality of the drinks matched the disappointment of the presentation. My $25 drink tasted like something I would expect from a dive bar, lacking the sophistication and balance I had hoped for. It was definitely a letdown considering the price I paid. To make matters worse, an 18% gratuity was already included for just one drink. The menu indicated that the 18% gratuity was for parties of 6 and above, but there were only three people in our group. This felt unfair, as we were automatically charged gratuity even though we didn't meet the party size requirement. It would be better if the policy was clarified and applied accurately. Despite my disappointment with the drinks, I must emphasize that Golden Hour's decor is truly breathtaking. The attention to detail and the carousel picture create a whimsical and magical atmosphere. If you're looking for a place solely for Instagram-worthy photos, then Golden Hour is worth a visit. However, I have one earnest request to the management: please ensure that drinks, especially those priced at $25, are served in appropriate glassware rather than plastic cups. This simple change would greatly enhance the overall experience and make the price tag feel more justified. Overall, Golden Hour is a place of mixed emotions. While the decor and ambiance are enchanting, the overpriced and mediocre drinks, coupled with the use of plastic cups and the discrepancy in the gratuity policy, detract from the overall experience.
