Im not sure what happened at this establishment. The food and everything use to be soooooo good but I guess they changed owners or the chef but it's definitely not the same. 11/4/2015 : today's service was much better & the Cabbage OMG, still loving it. Today I got the Curry Chicken & it was delicious, absolutely tasty, very well seasoned. The food is always good, today's favorite for me was the cabbage. You could taste the freshness and it was cooked to perfection; it wasn't over-cooked or under-cooked, it was truly perfect; I love the way they cut it and the crunch in every bite. This review is neutral. We didn't get to eat the food. We drove all the way from Newark airport to this place looking for Jamaican food. We didn't even get to buy and eat this food. We stood in line about 10 minutes, and watching the overall atmosphere, we decided to go elsewhere. It was a long line and it wasn't moving that fast. We also noticed it was kinda buffet style and one of the servers poured back some soup she head just dished into a bowl because it was too full. I'm sure the food is great, hence the long line. I felt like there was organization however they didn't know how to get the customers in and out. There isn't any room much to eat in. I like this location of GK. Yes it has had it's share of good and bad over the years. Hello it is located in Newark so you have to pick and choose when you venture out to get your west indian taste buds on. They recently renovated over a year ago and I have seen a mark improvement in customer service, quality of the food and service. Yes lunch time is crowded so the best hours to go are around 11am or after lunch around 1pm till 4pm. I wouldn't go after 4pm as the line can get long. The girls are always working hard and doing the best job they can. I try to tip when I can as these girls take care of their customers. Just remember no after 4pm and definitely not on a weekend.
