Eh. Odd hours, pricey, small portions. That's all I remember from take out of 2 dishes. I was not impressed. Some standard pork / chicken dishes came with deep fried breaded protein rather than the flour/arrowroot/whatever coated protein.. more fried garbage than edible meat. I was not impressed. read more

Usually absolutely love their food but tonight was horrible may never return!! They have some young man in there who is very rude on the phone when you call and order he read my order back to me which was correct I then went to pick it up and have a small rice instead of a large so I called and they said oh we have it . Great on my way then they call me back and say I ordered small when he read it back to me. The time and gas to take my little ones out to get more rice, because that's all they eat so I know we always get a large something rice is all we order. Food is so -so. I really like beef fried rice but here it's kind of dry and they don't put a lot of stuff in it. Now I drive to Claremont and get it at the Imperial Chinese restaurant, as it's a lot better but it's a long drive. I think I am addicted to Imperial's fried rice. Classic Chinese food place. They have all the basics, made exactly how you think they would be made. This is no frills chinese food. The beef fried rice was delicious and was a surprisingly big portion (lasted 2 meals). Beef teriyaki was sweet and tender. Service was prompt and friendly. The restaurant isn't anything special but due to its location in Canaan being devoid of any other options the Golden Ming is a solid choice for take out. read more

I had one bad experience here (the food was not very fresh) and I didn't go back for at least a year. I regret not giving them a second chance sooner. I recently had lunch there and it was excellent! We stopped at this small Chinese eat in/take out (no liquor) for a mid day lunch, and lucked out to find them offering luncheon specials until 3:00. We shared one hot and sour soup while we waited for lunch. Soup was very delicious, great flavor and served hot. Our lunches also came in good quantities, rice and veggies were fresh and the spices/sauces over our chicken dishes were very nicely prepared. We'll definitely stop there again. read more

Best Chinese food around. My Husband and I will only eat Chinese food here. They have the BEST Crab Rangoons and fried butterflied shrimp with a thin batter (not like the chicken finger batter). We ask for the chicken fingers crispy due to once getting them cooked a little too light. Hubby loves the egg foo young and my favorite is General Tso's. From the outside it looks a little run down but it's pretty clean inside. They have a small 3 table eating area that has room for 10-12 people. They do a lot of take-out orders. read more

Great to see a Chinese restaurant out in Canaan! This place is always packed but always has a quick turnover -- we've gotten a number of different dishes from them and it's always been great. Kung Pao chicken, Hunan Beef, all Lo Mein, General Tso Chicken -- all your standard Chinese takeout fare but they do a REALLY good job of it. It's the only Chinese restaurant east of Lebanon and probably the only one between Leb & Plymouth -- thankfully it's good! Even during dinner rush, we call to order and 15 min later our food is ready. There's a small seating area (4-5 tables) so you can do that if you like. Even though this is out in Canaan, I think it's better than any other place in the Upper Valley -- putting places like Men at Wok and China Moon to shame. Dinner combos are the way to go -- best deal for the money. Spare ribs are nice and tender -- not overdone. Crab rangoon is nice too. Only downside is that the fortune cookies were stale for a long time, but who really eats those? Again, there are no surprises here aside from the fact that there is an excellent Chinese take-out restaurant in Canaan, NH! read more

Was surprised by this one, a lonely Chinese restaurant off of Route 4 en route to Grafton. Food was decent, clean and flavorful. I've been there two times now and had satisfying noodle dishes. The dishes seemed to tone down on the sweeteners unlike other Chinese restaurants in the area. Will certainly go there again when in the area. Prices are average, service was...well what do you expect at a counter service Chinese take-out restaurant. I was on my way up to Groton, nh from Troy, ny. Was looking for a good chinese restaurant on the way and found the Golden Ming. I read the other reviews. There all dead on. I had the garlic chicken extra spicy. I have to say it is the best I've had in a long time. Looks like a little dive out in the middle of nowhere, but don't let that stop you from going. Love this place! they have GREAT food for being a tiny place and in Canaan! So so happy when I found out they were there when I moved into town! You can only have so much pizza if you don't feel like driving to Lebanon or Plymouth to grab something to eat. And they are by far better than all but one Chinese Restaurant in the Upper Valley!
