When you first walk in there is a wall with many plaque awards. Surprised not to see any customers. Went further down there were 3 customers at the bar however no customers in the dining area. A bit chilly out just looking to enjoy hot tea but their equipment is not working for hot tea. Both employees on their phones definitely not a warm welcome however with the restaurant not busy I really could not blame them. The restaurant has a nice layout and appeared to be clean as we glanced and made our way to a booth. Server greeted after he saw us sitting down. He did what a server does nothing above or beyond. Menu had a lot of options. Pretty standard and easy to navigate the menu. Ordered a panfried Szechwan dumpling appetizer, wonton soup and a Szechuan wonton soup. The dumplings for the Szechuan soup were cold in the middle and the dough for the wonton was very thick and doughy. The wonton soup was perfect good flavor. The Szechuan panfried dumplings very thick dough however the meat inside was portioned appropriately. If you prefer thick wontons in your soup or panfried then you may appreciate these dumplings. read more

Food only on this review. I had just returned from a weeks vacation in Maine and wasn't ready to head back into the kitchen to cook so we ordered take out from Peking Tokyo. The pan fried raviolis had dipped in quality recently but today they were back at it...spot on. Chicken fingers for my granddaughter and she ate them up. I order the Four Happiness to try to eat healthy and it was amazing. Tasty, yummy, scrumptious! We are all looking forward to leftovers for our back to work/daycare lunches tomorrow. I've dined at Peking Tokyo on several occasions over the years, and have always been very satisfied. Really great place in the past. Today however, I ordered my usual shrimp and vegetable tempura. When it arrived, it was a soggy gross mess that consisted mostly of cooking oil. Unlike typical tempura, which is supposed to be the very definition of "crispy", it was a soggy mess. I've had tempura all over the world, including Japan, and it's never been saturated with cooking oil like today's version of the dish at Peking Tokyo in Lebanon NH. I called the waitress over and she said yes, it wasn't right, and sent it back for a do-over. The second attempt, pictured below, was an improvement, however it was still a soggy mess. When I bit into it, the grease oozed out of the vegetables and shrimp into my mouth. Yuk. I asked the waitress to take it back, and asked for the bill. To her credit, she did so with no grief or aggravation, and I left I satisfied an hungry. On a side note, I visited the bathroom on my way out and it smelled like the latrine at a hobo camp (no disrespect intended towards hobo's). So disappointed. I'm crossing the formerly great restaurant off my list of acceptable places to eat, and I recommend you do the same. I'm not sure what is to account for its drastic downfall, whether it's lack of talent in the kitchen, or loss of practice during Covid, but it sure went downhill. This place is terrible. It rates less than one star. It took more than 20 minutes for the waitress to bring our drinks. The "pork" lo mein was not pork. It was beef. The sushi had a weird, off taste. The steamed rice was so mushy and sticky, and had an off taste, as well. 12 hours later, I was puking and had the runs so bad, I had to call in sick at work. Nothing to write home about. I got takeout from there today and it just wasn't impressive. The quality of food to price is very poor. I paid almost $15 for General Tsos chicken and it didn't taste like any General Tsos that I've had anywhere else in the country. It was almost tasteless. I ordered delivery from this place. I ordered shrimp fried rice, the American dream roll, and egg rolls. Upon eating my fried rice I discovered NONE of the shrimp had been deveined (aka there was still poop in my shrimp.) I immediately called the restaurant and told them what I had discovered. The girl on the phone asked if they can send me different food. I said no, I would like a refund because this is not okay. She told me the driver would come back and get the rice and she would refund me the rice. I told her I want a FULL refund because there is shrimp in my sushi and I don't trust it. So she got upset and didn't understand why I didn't want to eat the shrimp or egg rolls. I explained that this is disgusting and I don't trust to eat any of their food after this. So she kept getting more frustrated, and I was obviously getting frustrated, until finally I said, you know what, I will pick the food out of the trash and bring it to you for a full refund. Luckily the guy who helped me at the restaurant did not argue once with me, and immediately issued a refund. While I was getting said refund an old man from the back came and snatched the food as if it was MY fault. Horrible service, disgusting food handling. Stay away!!! read more

I ordered the standard Mongolian Beef and Moo Goo Gai Pan and egg rolls. A lot of food for one, leftovers are great for lunch. I first tried the Moo Goo Gai Pan. Um, mediocre at best, watery, tasteless broth, loaded with barely cooked vegetables and the potato pieces were raw. The chicken pieces were fine, just bland. The Mongolian Beef should have been called Mongolian Onions, where the hell is the beef? Sure there were some pieces of beef, swimming in a sea of slivers of onions and green peppers. Sure cant call in Mongolian Beef when there isn't any. Super fail on this one for sure, just gross. The egg rolls were okay, not really worth commenting on. This is about the worst Chinese food I've ever had, i would have commented to the workers if I ate in, otherwise, not worthy of a phone call. read more

Very discouraging walking through the gaggle of people smoking out front in the foyer. Nothing more disgusting than waking in and out through a smoke screen of cigarette smoke to pick up your takeout order. Really put a damper on the entire meal. I have been here a few times. I have found hair in my food two times. The sushi is ok. The service is ok. The drinks are good I will give them that. I love there scorpion bowls. The only reason for the return is that it's right near where I work. I have been here and had a great experience. But that's few and far between! The staff is nice and friendly, unfortunately that isn't enough. I have sat at the bar for 15 minutes before anyone even came out to acknowledge me. I don't think I will be going back here again. When we lived in the peoples republic of vt we use to go here all the time. We left in 2012 and on a return trip in 2019 we swung by as we always loved this place and the food. I've had bad chinese out of state in backwater joints. This food made the backwater places look like china town in san fran. Terrible . Glad to see the reviews agree. Going back this aug. A decent Chinese-Japanese restaurant (or more accurately, a Chinese restaurant with sushi.) A few creative, non-greasy sushi rolls like the salmon tempura roll w/ spicy mayo on top. For the lunch specials you get hella food for like $6.95. Comfortable enough on the inside, but if you take the building's exterior and plunk it down in the middle of some sketchy-looking city block then it'd fit right in. Kinda cool. I can't for the life of me understand how Men at Wok has a full star more than Peking Tokyo on Yelp. I ordered from Men at Wok shortly after moving to the area at the end of 2013, based on the positive Yelp reviews. The meat was chewy, the lo mein was gummy, and the duck sauce came in packets... yuck. I was terrified at the idea that they were the best option for Chinese food in the area. Fortunately, I found Peking Tokyo, which I think has MUCH better food! At the end of the day, Peking Tokyo is still Americanized Chinese food, which we all know is not exactly fine cuisine. Don't come here looking for the best meal of your life. However, if you want decent, reasonably priced Chinese food in the Upper Valley, then Peking Tokyo is a solid choice. I also really like that they have sushi as an option. The husband doesn't like sushi, so we go there when I have a sushi craving, and he is still able to order food that he likes. Also, the lunch deals are fantastic! For something like $7, you get an entree, appetizer, rice, and soup... or you can even get sushi with soup and salad! Lots of food for cheap, which is what Chinese food is really about, right? Also, they'll deliver to me in Enfield for a $5 fee, which is a great option to have in a town with so few takeout options! read more

Every couple of years I go here and experience feelings of regret. I did it again recently and the meal was no exception. Bland gooey hot and sour soup - how can anyone manage to make this dish bland? This place has achieved it. I could not finish the soup. The worst Bloody Mary I have ever had, followed by the flattest beer. I am giving it two rather than one stars because the ginger chicken with string beans was edible.
