I've enjoyed the few dishes I've ordered from Men at Wok and love the name pun. You can find authentic Chinese dishes here, as well, vs. the strictly Americanized food. Some of their entrees are not easy to find anywhere else nearby. Really I just came here to say that they have gigantic egg rolls here! I've never had an egg roll this big and now whenever I'm in the area, I stop in just for a gigantic egg roll snack. They taste exactly the same as the Americanized egg roll you know and love. The food was disgusting and inedible. My ginger chicken had no flavor and the chicken was slimy. I didn't notice my daughter's chicken fingers were pink in the middle until after she ate some. We threw everything else away and she spent the evening throwing up. The food here is just OK, but the delivery service is consistently disappointing. Today, several of us at work placed an order scheduled to arrive at 12:00pm. By 12:30pm, when nothing had shown up, we called the restaurant and were told that the delivery driver never came in to work. We were then informed they would "try calling the driver" and, if unsuccessful, someone from the restaurant might bring the food themselves. As a busy office, we value our limited lunch break and ordered well in advance to ensure an on-time delivery. The restaurant should have contacted us immediately once they knew the driver wasn't coming in and offered alternatives, rather than waiting for us to call and ask what was happening. This level of communication and reliability is unacceptable, and it really impacted our experience. They have lost our business for good this time. read more

Probably the worst Chinese food I've eaten in my life. awful General Tso chicken was bland, not at all spicy as it should be.. didn't have a single hot pepper in it. And how did they get the chicken to almost uniformly round? It's as if they ground the chicken and mixed it with some sort of filler. It was was rubbery almost like a vegetarian type alternative and upon closer look, doesn't look at all like chicken should The fried dumplings were equally as forgetful. read more

Very nice dining area, simple. Tea is in a large urn to help yourself. I had the coconut chicken with white rice and egg roll. He had a combo with boneless ribs, fried rice and a few more things. Prices are pretty good. They are serving dining room food in plates. A few years back it was served in a styrofoam box and plastic fork. Ordered the fried wontons with meat that were delicious. Placed a carry out order at 5:45pm on a Tuesday. Took until 6:20 to get the order. Many people came in while we waited. Most had similar experience with orders they called in. Very slow. Ordered fried wonton, Happy Family, honey chicken. Not worth the wait. At all. Honey chicken was more bread and soggy than chicken. The white rice had more flavor. Dry too. Happy family looked anemic. Fried wontons were full of grease from lack of draining properly. Cross this place off the list. Not worth the price or the wait. They are involved in taking orders, getting them out to the customers and just engaging with the room. Standard Chinese-American fare. I got the General Tso's chicken, which came with broccoli, pork fried rice, and egg drop soup. The sauce pretty good though not spicy enough, while the chicken varied in quality with some pieces being mushy or not the freshest. I wish they gave more broccoli as well; I only got two pieces. I contacted their customer service and was told a driver was never assigned and immediately canceled the order on me. I was furious. I called Men at Wok directly and they immediately threw my order together, and delivered it in record time right to my hotel roo.! The food was hot and delicious! Very good experience at this place. We've been looking for good Chinese food in the Upper Valley and the Kearsarge areas for five years with very limited success. This place is at the top of the heap. Walking inside, it's a very small venue. The few customers were all Chinese, one good predictor of the quality of the food. The rice tasted like mildew or moth balls. I ordered the cashew chicken, fried dumplings and beef broccoli. I had to throw the rice out and only took 1 bite. I called to speak with the manager to tell her the rice was bad and she said "I tasted it and it is fresh". There was no apology or willingness to consider that it could have been a bad batch. The service was poor when I went to pick up the food, I waited 15 min (after the 30 min that they said the food would be ready) before they even acknowledged I was waiting for an order. This is the second time I had poor quality food that tasted like it had gone bad. Hopefully, we will not get food poisoning. read more

Very good food and good sized portions. We went on Thanksgiving Day and it was very busy but the owners were friendly and pleasant, as I have always found them to be. I have always loved the General Tso's chicken and I order it without spice. They always accommodate and make it perfectly. We had enough for a meal and then leftovers for lunch today. I have been patronizing the owners of the restaurant since they ran the place in Claremont. Now they are much further away so I don't get there as often. Shockingly bad food. We got 5 dinners- 3 general tso, 1 shrimp and vegetables dish, 1 beef and vegetables dish. The pictures on the menu show vibrant vegetables and fresh looking food. The shrimp and beef dish tasted exactly the same. Even the vegetables all tasted the same- like boiled vegetables that lost all flavor and tossed in a non descript flavorless sauce. The only flavor came from the shrimp, which were unpleasantly fishy. The rice was the best part, and that wasn't great. The general tso was ok, but its just breaded chicken with a sweet, flat noted sauce. Will not return. read more

Food was delicious! Very friendly staff. We ordered the peeking spicy lo main and that was amazing! Great flavor and nice fresh snappy veggies! Not your expected type of spicy but the tongue numbing very subtle kind of spicy. Also ordered shrimp dumplings which were fresh, and delicious! Steamed buns could use a little more flavor in the inside of them but add a little sauce and it brings you down to flavor town. Man, I really wanted to like this place, and I've been craving some good Chinese food since I relocated here from L.A. a few months ago, but I have to be honest in my review here. This is located in a little strip mall, and is nicely decorated and has a good atmosphere. The menu is very interesting, and appears to have a good variety of fresh items and some interesting twists on your typical Chinese food fare. The service is very friendly (that's why they got the extra star from me - it would have been 2), and I was impressed when discussing the many different fried rice options and the fact that they even use different types of rice for different textures and flavors between menu items. I ordered the house special fried rice, and it was freshly prepared in about 10 minutes. I got home with it and excitedly sat down to eat. They gave me a large container for the $8 I paid, and I was excited to get a few meals out of it. Upon the first bite, though, I tasted an overwhelming amount of salt and something else. Now, I've been going to one Mandarin place in L.A. for years now, and they strictly don't use MSG, and I am pretty careful about reading labels on all the food I buy (soups, chips, lunch meat, etc.), so maybe I'm extra sensitive to it now? Anyway, I'm going to assume that there was a tremendous amount of MSG in this order, as I was only able to eat about half of what I started out to eat for lunch. I had a strange burn in my mouth and throat (not the spicy/pepper kind) for the rest of the day, and I was even turned off from my dinner. I could be being a bit oversensitive to this, but I honestly LOVE a good order of fried rice, and I had to throw away the rest of this container. My two regular Chinese places closed due to COVID so I gave this place another chance. The food quality had gone back up a bit (not what it once was but still better than the last time I went) but the service was AWFUL. Just like all the other recent reviews have stated, I was told 20 min. and it took just under two hours to get my food. If you're busy and it's going to take two hours, fine - but tell people that. Don't tell everyone 20 min. when it's six times that and they all end up waiting in your lobby for over an hour during a pandemic. No apology. Total chaos. Avoid at all costs. read more

Decided to treat myself today, and I am sorry that I did. The kid that took my order and handed me my food was uncooperative and distracted. He didn't even close the bag of food. My order was wrong - I ordered Pork Lo Mein and got Pork fried rice instead, my egg roll was overcooked and full of oil, like it was put in when the oil was too cold, and the sweet and sour shrimp was under cooked. When I arrived to pick up my order it was sitting out on the counter and not in the hotbox, so all my food was lukewarm at best, except the sweet and sour sauce, which was piping hot. And I had arrived back at the office before opening the bag and looking at the food. Such a Disappointment! read more

A small, no-frills joint offering standard Americanized Chinese cuisine. My husband and I were looking for a takeout place open on thanksgiving and this was the only place so we took a plunge. The order was prepared in a timely fashion, the kitchen seemed pretty clean and the staff were friendly. I really liked the fact that they used white meat for their General Tso's chicken. My husband said the beef and broccoli was pretty good as well. The crab Rangoon leaves something to be desired as it contains imitation crab meat but to expect a real deal would be pushing the envelope, especially from a small Chinese takeout in the middle of nowhere.
