Forest food, especially beef and lamb dishes. The service is good as well. It's new and decoration is new and shining as well.

My father was a the head cook (back then they weren't called chefs) for many Chinese restaurants on Long Island, Connecticut and NYC. I know Cantonese food as well as the next person. This place is a different type of genre. It's a lot Cantonese with a mix of Sichuan and a flair of Hong Style. The food is good and from what I'm hearing from the staff will only get better with new menu offerings in the near future. What gives Golden Mirage or Donglai Mirage its edge are the wonderful front end staff. They really try to please with professionalism, competence and personality. The manager whose name is Wagner stopped by our table. We started to chat and I told him that he should get more traditional Dim Sum items on the menu. Most of the Dim Sum items are mostly Xiao Long Boas which are soup dumplings. With that he sent over an order of Shui Mai to show me their other Dim Sum offerings. . The Shui Mai was a definitely a step up from the traditional carts pushed by Aunties at restaurants in Chinatown. The food was well presented and portion sizes were more than adequate. We ordered Peking Duck which was well prepared but lacking the traditional white bao to wrap the duck in. Instead we had thin steamed crepe wraps. The beef with broccoli was tender and the broccoli was cooked thoroughly. The prawns with walnuts and white sauce was exceptionally well done. I'm not a fan of mayonnaise but this sauce had a hint of it to make the special taste come through. The General Tso chicken was a basic dish that was served and prepared in its most basic way. Wagner came by to chat and it's that type of experience from management that is lacking in the food service industry. I remember the front house manager interacting with the diners when my father worked the kitchen. These interactions enhance the dining experience immensely and Wagner has the ability to pull it off. First time here. We decided to stop in to try it for lunch. It was a really nice experience We ordered Mongolian beef and chicken with garlic sauce. They came with a choice of soup so I chose hot and sour and my friend got the egg drop. Service was really good, everyone there is very friendly and personable. Soup was delicious. Nice and hot. The entrees followed and they were very tasty. The beef was very tender with good flavor and the chicken was delicious with its variety of fresh vegetables. we really enjoyed it and the atmosphere is very relaxing. We often ate at the former Chinese restaurant that occupied this space and were unhappy when it closed, so we were excited to try Golden Mirage as soon as it opened. We were greeted enthusiastically at the door. The server was friendly and helpful as we placed our order. The interior is new, clean and bright, although the booth we were seated at had almost no leg room. The menu is fairly limited compared to most Chinese restaurants, but there were more than enough interesting options to choose from. Unfortunately, the quality of the food was disappointing. My cumin beef dish was overly spiced and my wife's tofu dish was swimming in oil. The hot and sour soup was neither hot nor sour. I'm tempted to try Golden Mirage again in the future to see if they improve, but there are more solid dining choices available so I'm not in any rush to do so. read more

The restaurant is shiny and new inside. The chairs at the tables--not for wide hips but they do have some booth options so that is good. The food is delicious. There is another restaurant location of theirs in Manhattan. My husband flipped for the crab dumplings. He said he would have to reorder them again. His main dish of sesame chicken was delicious too, from the chicken to the rice to the broccoli. I ordered shrimp lo mein after a conversation with our server. I received chicken lo mein from a different server. This speaks to their service. They're still absolutely experiencing growing pains as another reviewer already mentioned. On a positive note I really wasn't even mad because it was definitely delicious. The chicken was very tender and tasty and the lo mein was mixed perfectly with the right combination of crunchy vegetables. Very tasty. I also think that lo mein is often overcooked but this definitely wasn't. Unfortunately, the service took so long I didn't even have the energy to mention the $3 shrimp upcharge and I had nothing but an empty plate to show anyway because our table was visited so infrequently and the wait was long enough for the food that when the food came I ate down. Which actually reminds me. My husband ate nearly his entire meal while I waited for mine. We all know, that's a no-no. I'm giving a strong 4 stars for the tasty food. Service was so terrible I would be lying if I didn't take it into account. We'll probably be back but we'll be patient about it. read more

Came here for an event and had a really nice time! We sampled a ton of dishes, the lamb stew and bok choy was my favorite. They specialize in Northern Chinese cuisine so it sets it apart from other spots in the area. Make sure to leave room for dessert! read more

Welcome and Happy Grand Opening, new owner /new Menu but same old location where Central Seafood used to be, right next to the old Best Buy. New Look More booths, extended Bar with Happy Hours, I had to try this place out, so I had take out. They are giving vouchers for 20 bucks off on your meal. I was thinking and assuming for an old tradition menu, but what I read was a list of dumplings , dumplings this dumpling that, remind me of Nanas Dim sum & dumpling on white plain rd. I ordered the broccoli & beef, beef was good but Broccoli had a bitter taste. in spicy garlic sauce, the wonton soup was ok, the appetizer I wanted, they did not have so was given sweat and sour chicken , was good. Their portion /serving is like a lunch portion not a dinner portion. The atmosphere is good for friends/ date/ get together/ occasion party . On a Monday evening was quiet / couple ppl at the bar . Finally, an upscale Chinese restaurant in the area. Golden Mirage just opened and the atmosphere is gorgeous. Had the Cumin Lamb and 水煮鱼--both were outstanding, especially the fish. I heard the chef is award-winning, and the food definitely lived up to the hype. Will be back. read more

Finally got to experience Golden Mirage, the new Chinese restaurant recently opened on Central Avenue in Hartsdale! We've been waiting for this, considering that the restaurant that was at this location was one we frequented with some regularity and we've been hoping for something similar here. Walked in, we were immediately impressed with the interior. Beautifully designed and furnished! Obviously the new owners wanted to make the space be impressive, and succeeded! Well spaced tables, and a full bar with seating at the counter. Service was attentive, helpful and cordial. We chose soups and two dishes for lunch. The hot and sour soup was exceptional. Generously portioned and flavorful. Probably the best we've had. The sesame chicken and the Chicken Lo Mein were also generously portioned and beautifully plated. Tasted obviously freshly made. The accompanying white rice was perfectly cooked and delicious. We ate and had leftovers to take home! We'll definitely be back! About Last Night: What an unforgettable evening at the newly opened Golden Mirage, an amazing new Asian spot in Hartsdale, NY. Our hostess, Mz. Nicole, was so friendly and attentive the entire time, starting us out with many wonderful appetizers. The VIP-style treatment continued, and to top off the evening, she surprised us with celebratory shots at the end of our dinner as we were there to honor a great friend that was leaving to fly back home -- a perfect and welcome touch. Meh. Not impressed at all with the food or service ordered crispy calamari. Comes out soggy soaked I'm some mayonnaise sauce. Small serving for the price. Hot and sour soup not hot or sour. Big disappointment. General Taos chicken tasted like chicken in ketchup. Mongolian beef was 80% onions and the beef had a powdery taste. Pork lo mein hardly had any pork and the pork that was in there was very dry. They don't even serve tea. Bring out noodles or cold vegetables before the meal. They didn't give fortune cookie or orange after the meal. Over priced food. Definitely not worth it. read more

Service was abominable! We proved at 6pm and ordered at 6:15. Our appetizers cane promptly but then we waited over an hour for the entreees. Turned out they couldn't find our order and it's because the waiter never put it in transitioning I no I'm The food was just mediocre and definitely not with the wait. We didn't leave until close to 9pm! Literally the worst restaurant experience in my 28 years in Westchester. The manager of the store also never came by to apologize for the wait. There also several other tables who were super frustrated with the wait time. One customer left his table of 3 and never came back. You can't pay me to go back there. Super disappointing! read more

We understand it must be very hard to open a new restaurant, but this place has introductory growing pains. The food is great. It's more than food, it's a cuisine. Two menus, a bar and a table menu.  The table menu is small, one page, but everything we have ordered was great.  OMG order the Chicken wings from the bar menu.  Real home battered not frozen wings.  Amazing. Delicious and sophisticated.  We also ordered Cumin Lamb, Sauteed Pea Shoots and Mongolian Beef.  Food is so good you bring the leftovers home and eat them that very night. But it's more than food.  We happened to stop by the first day they were open and, well, the service was terrible.  More than one waitress stopped to take our order and the service was slow.  We were privileged to witness the manager berating a waitress that seemed to be running away from her.  The waitress was one that had served us and we thought she was great. From what we witnessed the manager is a bit of a brute. A Chardonnay was $18 and the pour was VERY CHEAP.  Soda was $5 with refills an additional $5.  Don't drink there.   First night's bill for 2 was $150.   Still, that food...We went back that friday.  Again the service was a S#it show.  Appetizers came after the main courses, they forgot one of the entres and it was 12 minutes before our drinks arrived.  We ordered the Jasmine tea ($8 which was worth the tough price).  Corn soup, (which to most of us is Egg Drop) was lukewarm but delicious.  I only ordered one glass of wine and stopped at the welcoming Japanese restaurant a few doors away before and after for a much more reasonable and generous glass of vino.  Surprisingly the food is reasonably priced!  Especially for the quality.  Really some of the best asian food we've ever had. Really special.  Portions are moderate, but enough.  The decor is more modern than its predecessor Central Seafood, but they seem to have sacrificed table space for ambiance. The bar area is very nice.  We got there late afternoon on both occasions and by 6pm on Friday they were turning away customers.   Friday night's bill was $125, but we only ordered one wine and one soda and more food.   More discomfort when the check comes via tablet, with a 25% tip already logged in.  This happened both nights. I fell for it the first night out of some kind of guilt, but downgraded it to 20% the second night.  Anything lower is not offered unless you choose the "other" and it feels awkward. read more

Menu is smaller than the usual Chinese restaurant. At first glance , the portions seemed on the smaller side but at the end of the meal, we had leftovers of each dish, and we shared 4 dishes for 4 people (no appetizers). Everything was very tasty. We had Mongolian beef, jumbo shrimp (they were large but maybe not jumbo), string beans (lightly salted which was perfect) and Peking duck. The wrap was very thin but didn't break, didn't become wet (from the sauce). The sauce was also different, not just regular hoisin sauce. It came with red pepper, which was different --it added crunch and sweetness. The interior is a huge improvement from the previous Central Seafood--it's brighter and feels more spacious. The women's bathroom, while redone, can fit only one person at a time. We will definitely be back-- glad to have another Chinese restaurant to frequent in the area. read more

I hate to pan a place so early, but, by and large, I found the food inedible. The shrimp lychee fritters were tasty, as was one of the soup dumplings (The pork crab, I think; I ordered the sampler, so I'm not totally sure which was which,) But that was about it. Most of what I got was stupefyingly tasteless. The Mongolian Beef was the exception; it was so pungent it was hard to get down (I think they overdid the rice wine.) Combined with the prices (which would be tolerable if the food warranted it,) I doubt I'll be a repeat customer. read more

We were excited to try this new chinese restaurant but it was a dreadful experience. The food was a bland and entirely unremarkable but the true downfall of this place is the horrendous service. Interminably long wait times for food, nonexistent communication from the management and an indifferent attitude overall. They are in soft opening so it was a trial run. This is the site of the former Central Seafood and the place has been totally renovated and now has various smaller seating areas, kind of upscale Asian modern. The cauliflower and green peppercorn fish were excellent but the chicken lomein lacked umami and the steamed eggplant was a disaster. They served a starter trio of pickled daikon, celery peanuts and spicy cabbage that was very tasty. We would return to try other dishes. read more
