The Broccoli and Beef was like a bland soup with boiled meat. I ended up having to re-cook it at home with some teriyaki to give it ANY flavor. My husband and I went there for lunch on Sunday. I had eaten there years ago; this was my husband's first visit (and probably last). We were seated quickly, and received our drinks quickly also. I got the orange chicken, which was about 6 large chunks of chicken, the fried rice, and a little broccoli & carrots on the side. My husband got the pepper steak. I did ask for egg rolls when we got our meal. After we finished, they cleared our plates. I had several people ask if we wanted more tea at that time. We waited a long time four our check, and finally just got up from the table. While we were waiting in line to pay, our waiter finally brought our check. Overall, this place is pretty good. The service is good, the place smells awesome, and the prices are right. However, the dishes themselves are a little hit or miss. I had the pad Thai the other day, and my son tried the royal curry, both of which were excellent. So my wife and I went back yesterday for lunch, and she had the orange chicken and I had a Thai chicken dish with spicy sauce (I don't remember the name of the dish but it was #10 on the menu). We weren't impressed with either one. In my case, they should have used dark meat in the dish instead of white meat, because while the veggies were cooked perfectly, the meat was overdone and dried out. The orange chicken my wife ordered had the same problem - they should have used dark meat instead of white meat, because while the crust of the chicken was perfectly done, the white meat inside was overcooked and dry. So I've had two hits and two misses. Once I find three or four dishes they do well, I'll probably just stick to those. One other thing, the hot and sour soup was the best I've ever eaten, bar none. Oddly, it came with saltine crackers instead of those fried Chinese crackers you usually get, but it was delicious nonetheless. I also noticed that the pepper on the table was Chinese white pepper, not your usual black pepper. Kudos for that. Although I would have appreciated a dish of chile oil or Chinese hot sauce on the table. Also, I asked for extra fish sauce with my pad Thai and they brought it. I've eaten at Golden Moon since moving to the area in 1995. The food is always delicious and the staff very courteous. Some of my favorites are the Smiley Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, and the New crab rangoons. The one issue I have is related to their hours of operation. They close from 2:30 to 4:30 pm on every business day. That's fine but I wish they wouldn't go into "closing" mode at 2 pm. On my last visit, they didn't have enough egg rolls already made for the number of people still needing service. Ours came out after we were already almost done with the meal and were undercooked/cold. The lunch special is around $9, comes with tea, spring/egg roll, soup, and entree. I ordered the Hot and Sour soup, spring roll, and Red Curry. It was all fantastic.
