We did rent a Cabana and that was nice to have access to water and a fridge for the food we ordered. The drinks were more expensive than I thought they would be. The cocktails were around $20. There were little to no chairs available and the padding was old on them. They also won't let you use the pool after or before checkout without a charge, yet there was a $48 resort fee a night. They do have 1 tv by the bar but it's not ideal location. There is not a lot of shade if it's a hot Vegas day. I am only giving it one start cuz, it won't let me leave a review if I don't give a review. Came to eat at 9:25 pm and the girl who took the order was rude. She told us we needed to order asap because they were about to leave, we asked what time they closed and was told at 10pm. We order in a rush and ness up the order then she told us that that's what we ordered. The food was cold and tasted horrible. This is the worst Mexican restaurant in Vegas with the worse service. The pool with the shark aquarium is cool if you want to be in the water with a thousand people and ALL of their screaming kids. Be early to grab a lounge chair and claim it with the hotel provided towel. People seem to be respectful that, that is your saved chair. One star rating is due to the trash, trash everywhere. I brought it to the staffs attention that the pool had cups floating in it, tops from the coors tin cans. People are totally irresponsible to throw their trash, ultimately its the hotels job to keep the pool clean. Enjoyed my experience at the pool. Party of 8-9 rented a cabana in the 21+ section upstairs. Enjoyed the service, pool and cabana with a television. I didn't experience the slide but many others did-multiple times and enjoyed it. The slide itself takes you through the "fish tank" which includes share, tuna, sting rays etc. you can also see the fish and people going down the slide from the lower pool area. Lower pool area has a waterfall, a shaded tunnel. Would likely return to experience just the pool experience. read more

Great looking servers in pool attire. They have blackjack tables along the pool. Great music with a good sound piped in throughout the pool area. Big shark tank to view, and a slide that shoots thru the shark tank. They have chairs in the shallow end of the pool to enjoy semi-submerged. We have previously rented cabanas on the upper deck for large parties. The design of the deck is such that you can move around to stay out of the sun during the day as the sun progresses. This is where the action is!~~ We rented a cabana for a family member's birthday and had a BALL. There is a TV to watch sports, the waitress is friendly and kept bringing drinks and there are plenty of places to sit and store your stuff. The cabana's are also right off the adult pool which is very convenient. I may be biased because I'm a big fan of the Golden Nugget but, renting this cabana was a great idea. People waiting in line 2 hours before entry. Guests have no priority! We book a stay here in Mid September for 4 days. The slide was closed. The pool closes early and the only way to have a place to sit is to wait in a line for 2 hours. The host was very rude. I got on the website to book a cabana which was $115 for the day for 4 people. The website said see a host to book. The host announced that he raised the cost of a cabana to $265 because they were so busy that day! WTF?!!! We were told it was first come first serve but that is not true. People are allowed to "hold" chairs for other people by putting a towel on it. One woman was holding 8 chairs ! It's only kid friendly early when opening. Paid 60$ per person to come in. The pool was clean, was able to secure two chairs. Kids loved the slide and aquarium view. Up until noon the adult crowd comes w alcohol and it gets gross. My son witness some nasty couples making out smh. This is Vegas for us. What makes it bad is when it gets busy the size of the pool is small so it's unavoidable. Best to leave by noon to avoid the adults if you have kids. My daughter has been asking to come to this pool for year( her cousins have been a few times). We had a great time. The pool has a cool water slide that goes right through the shark tank! If you slow down just little you can see all the fish around you as you slide down. It wasn't too busy although it was a Monday. My kids must have went down the slide 50 times. They couldn't get enough and the wait is not that bad. There are lots lifeguards on duty and cocktail servers. The drinks were pretty good and weren't crazy expensive. You can order food from The pool cafe or they let you bring in food from one of the Golden Nuggets restaurants. While relaxing by the pool you can get a massage. My mom and I received foot massages and it was nice and kinda fun! On the second level of the pool is an adult only pool. We did not visit it but could see from the slide line. If you do not want to be bothered by any kids this might be the pool for you. You don't get the shark tank view from there. My family and I had such a great time at the pool we stayed an extra night in Las Vegas! read more

We came to this hotel ONLY for the amazing water slide through the shark tank. We weren't allowed into the pool area without a room key... no problem. We weren't allowed to check in until 3p.... No problem. We checked in (while watching everyone going down the water slide), went to the room to change into bathing suits, and immediately went to the pool. THEY CLOSED THE SLIDE AT 4pm!!! Most kids and even adults are drawn to Shark Week on Discovery Channel. To be able to live it in first person is really cool. The first thing to note is patrons respecting rules. Common man! If you tell a Soldier, "thank you for your service" then tell the staff at ANY Las Vegas establishment thank you. As Soldiers we are expected to follow rules. Clearly staff in Las Vegas have to as well. It does not bring them pleasure to tell you to be respectful. They do it because they are told by people who make millions of dollars over them to ensure the safety of the others around them to make millions more. I forget often, but when an employee reminds me to put my mask on I say, "sorry". It's a simple courtesy. The Shark Tank is really cool. It could be so much cooler!!! Making it even bigger with an additional resort fee would be value added. I believe people would pay for that experience because it's so dope to feel like you are swimming with sea life. It's the great unknown that we as people simply don't appreciate (plastic straws). It is definitely worth the reinvestment to make it bigger and create a bigger draw. Then you can visit the pool the day you check in and the day you check out and it will probably be cheaper than a day pass. As a mature couple, I was not expecting to enjoy the pool as much as I did. I was especially surprised that my husband enjoyed it. He is not a "sit by the pool" guy. We easily found two chairs out of the sun. We watched all these kids coming down the waterslide (that goes through a shark tank). We decided to try it and it was really fun. We spent the rest of the time swimming and lounging and watching the fish tank. The staff were very friendly. We stayed until they closed. Rooms are worst quality.. outdated old furnitures. Room was dust central, dust had settled everywhere. Poor internet connection Youtube would freeze. Phone signal is poor here. Be aware of the sale people close to the chick a fill. Their annoying constantly approaching to sell tour packages. You can't walk their in the middle to block the customers from walking straight to the elevator. Also don't gamble here at the Golden Nugget no gold here. Winning ratio is zero out of ten. Went to Golden Nugget Pool for first time. Rented daybed, won't do that again...too pricey. The music was not my type of genre, and I consider myself someone who likes a variety of music. I didn't care for the celebrity cocktails. The Mai Tai was perfect. I only had chicken wings and they were okay. The wings at The Palms are the best but these were edible. Now the service was outstanding! Sophie was extremely pleasant and attentive. She gets a five-star for sure. I was disappointed that the parking was so expensive...$50! They do not have discounts for locals like so many of the other hotels do. This hotel does have excellent restaurants but I will not be going back to the pool. Next stop...The Cosmopolitan. Shark tank, water slide, alcohol and a smoking hot date!! What more can you ask for?!?! So why only the three stars you ask? Let me explain. 1. They don't start letting people in the water until 10 am. But make sure you get to the pool earlier so you can snag chairs. The bf and I got down to the pool at 9:30 am and were lucky enough to find a whole row that hadn't been occupied. People showing up at 10 am weren't so lucky. 2. People aren't even in the water yet, but why is the water already murky?? Gross!! Sunscreen, oils, sweat, pee...a big stew of humans. 3. Our cocktail server was no where to be found. She did bring us a menu but never came back to take our order. So I just went to the bar and ordered. The skinny cucumber vodka drink and a turkey sandwich set me back $22 plus tip. I expected it since we were at a pool. Both were really good for being pool food. I even got another drink and was pretty tipsy by the time we left. 4. They don't check your bags when you enter the pool. The bf went back upstairs to the room and loaded the back pack with beers, juice and more vodka from our cooler. This is our favorite pool in Las Vegas! If you are lucky, you can catch a Groupon for a cabana or daybed. We did the Groupon for a daybed and it was the best part of our last Vegas trip! We got there when it first opened and they let us pick our daybed so we opted for one in the shade. The food and drink service was surprisingly cheap, fast, and delicious! It was by far the best drinks and the food was so good! The pool itself is a blast! There is seating around the large shark tank itself so you can sit or stand right up against the glass and watch the array of fish and sharks. The line to go down the shark tank slide moves extremely fast and it is a blast to watch people go down it! There is a surprising amount of shade so you can enjoy yourself without worrying about overheating, which is awesome! They also have spots with waterfall like features to cool off with. If you do want to sunbathe, you can position yourself for that too without too much crowding. read more

This review is limited to the Golden Nugget Tank pool as we had no real complaints about the resort itself and really enjoyed our stay. However we gave up on spending time at the pool. Pool was overcrowded, with tons of kids thus experienced lots of unwanted splashing as kids jumped in right next to you or oblivious parents repeatedly threw their kids up in air allowing them to come down into the water with a big splash that hit other pool goers adding pool water to your cocktail. Parents throwing water balls with their kids that almost hit you and splashed every time it landed. I understand it's a pool and expect to get wet but also expect people have more self awareness and to be more cognizant of the fact that they're sharing a small space with many other people. Water was very murky and highly chlorinated bleaching out my new swim suit. Lounge chairs touch each other with no space to walk between and no tables for cocktails etc. chairs worn and old. The pool is very loud because it is enclosed by walls making it hard to hear the music above the voices. Staff was great and lots of praise to the lifeguard yesterday that quickly jumped in to save a kid going under struggling while his mom meandered through the pool in front of him with her cocktail clueless that her son was drowning directly behind her. Pool is quite small small for the number of guests the hotel accommodates which makes it hard to believe they allow non guests to use and pay day use fees. Bottom line If your here for the hotel/downtown location only you likely won't be disappointed, however if your pool experience is a big part of your stay and you're without kids. I rented a cabana just after memorial weekend and had a blast! Marcy (hope I spelled her name right) was our cocktail waitress and she took good care of us. All of the staff was friendly. Completely incompetent pool managers. I'm going to start by saying my pool waitress was amazing! Sophie was friendly, attentive and efficient. She seemed to have no control over the fact our food took 2 HOURS to come out. That being said the pool staff is HORRIBLE. They have absolutely no idea how to manage a pool full of people! We were there for my sons 21st birthday and having a fun time at the pool. My kids were making friends and having fun. Meeting other 21 year olds. Some obnoxious guy kept doing cannon balls into the pool right in the middle of all of us and other people. Literally splashing onto food and drinks. Super obnoxious, annoying everyone. My husband had finally had enough. Where are the lifeguards you ask? Too busy whistling at the kids to get off the wall by the shark tank. So my husband finally said "go somewhere else please!!" The guy was super drunk and confrontational. Of course here come the incompetent pool manager and his henchmen. Both the obnoxious guy and my husband get kicked out!! What??? The entire side of the pool saw EVERYTHING and vouched for him that he did nothing! My husband asked the pool manager why he was being kicked out and his most intelligent answer was......"because I can do whatever I want". Yep. Once they were escorted out, (with the entire pool area booing the staff for obvious reasons) the completely useless pool jerks continued to harass me and the boys. They stood over under the cabana overhang, arms crossed, just staring us down. The boys, up to that point and continued to be very mellow. Doing nothing! The lifeguards did nothing about this man jumping repeatedly into the pool. Useless. We come to Vegas a lot, we stay at a lot of places for many years now. This was BY FAR the WORST pool experience we have ever had! We had kids with us that had never been to Vegas, very sad first experience. After reading some of the poor reviews in the last few months, Golden Nugget should seriously consider new pool staff. Maybe they will see this review, maybe they won't. Unless you get in line by 9 am any day of the week, good luck finding a lounge chair - any lounge chair! This hotel is in need of a second pool, to be honest.
