Went in today for lunch specials. Great variety and prices were between $11.95-$14.95 for lunch depending what type you got. It's a combo plate and comes with half vegetable chow mein, half pork fried rice, cup of egg flower soup and cream cheese wonton appetizer (dine in only for soup & appetizer). The service was nice. It is a small place (which is not a big deal, I've been to plenty) and looks like they've been around for awhile and some locals seem to be regulars. The food wasn't really for me or my palate. The sweet and sour chicken was overcooked and didn't seem really fresh to me. The chow mien and fried rice was good but the meats in it also didn't seem fresh. I feel like this place is really used to their way of cooking that they haven't really modernized it. Meaning they're used to cooking it the same way for over a decade so they've kept it that way. It may work some people but wasn't for me. Overall great service. read more

I spent over $60 on four different dinner plates the sweet-and-sour chicken was not fully cooked not enough sauce, the chow mein has no vegetables or flavor and their rice has no vegetables and needs salt. Their food is very bland and you cannot compare this to silver dragon they need to reopen that place. I would've chosen panda express over this we will never come back here again read more

Been driving past this place for a while and finally stopped in. Almost looked closed, walked in, dead silent and not a soul to be found in the dining room. The nice lady came out and seated us.. Ordered food and watch a number of Togo orders come in a leave.. Had the house special show fun and the sweet and sour chicken. We were all blown away w the food, it was reeeaaallly good! I am really glad I decided to come here for lunch on our way back home. The food and service here was very good. We did not know that this is mainly a take-out kind of restaurant, however they did have indoor dining available. We were the only ones dining in for lunch and that was nice to have a quiet and peaceful lunch. I ordered their lunch special L10 which is chicken with fresh vegetables. My family members ordered L19 Tofu with vegetables and their lemon chicken. The soup of the day came out within minutes after the guy went into the kitchen. The soup was good and was nice and hot and not lukewarm. It had tofu and egg and some diced veggies. Was slightly on the bland side which is ok. Little dash of soy sauce fixes that. 5 minutes later the food came out. All the food was nice and hot. My food came out looking very nice. They give you 2 crispy won tons also. The vegetables were nice and cooked just right, not overcooked or anything. Chicken was good and the sauce tasted very good. Pork fried rice was good, but the chow mein was even better. All the other food we ordered also came out looking and tasting good. Best thing was the price. The price of their lunch menu gave the food great value for the money. Hi-ya! So, I really enjoy Mongolian bbq--I don't eat as much as I used to, but still enjoy the selecting your food, and cooking in front of you process and environment. This location I've bookmarked, but never went there until recently. The pricing structure is just a little different from typical ayce (all you can eat) Mongolian bbqs. For one bowl it's only like a $2 difference from all you can eat. BUT if you do the 1 bowl only AND you can't finish it, they let you take the leftovers to go. HOWEVER if you order unlimited bowls then no "to go". Makes sense. Anyway, the meat, sauces and veggies are all reasonable. I only like eating lamb, so their lamb wasn't really memorable, but not bad. Overall good and environment was good, clean and fast. They are a smaller location and we went during lunch. They were really busy, but again seating, eating and the paying was fast. They have dessert also--soft serve ice cream. Kids loved that part and I got to try another Mongolian bbq. Anyway good if you want a less oily Mongolian bbq feeling atmosphere. Overall 4 stars for cleanliness, service, but I say 3 star for the lamb. Check it out, still a nice find in Folsom. read more

Best Chinese food in the area! The place is unassuming, and the seating and interior are somewhat dated, but do not be fooled by this; the food is fresh and tasty, and the service is fantastic. Our server Alice, we knew from 15-20 years ago when we frequented Wonderful Chinese in Citrus Heights. (we do not go there anymore) She is about as pleasant and competent as they come. Came here upon a recommendation that it was the go-to place for good Chinese food. Boy, that was an overstatement. While the food was okay at best, it wasn't the worst I've had. It fell a little flat on flavor and something about it tasted prepackaged. Though it was fresh and portions were large, it just lacked anything special or even flavorful. Spices fell flat. The cream cheese wontons were filled minimally (which made me exceptionally sad because they were actually the best part of the meal but had barely any filling). The service was bare minimum. I know it may be cultural, but our server was super short with us and seemed uninterested. Other than delivering our food and the check, she offered nothing helpful and wasn't welcoming to questions about menu items. Overall, I've been on a search in this area for really delicious non franchise Chinese food and this dude not make the cut. Likely will not be back unless I'm that desperate. read more

I don't need them mushy, but I don't want them crunchier than a potato chip. The big complaint is that the entire plate had no flavor. I ordered using DoorDash, and the driver completely ruined my order; the employee at the restaurant told him to wait a minute for the food, and he instead just grabbed a huge box with WAY more food than I ordered & left. He ignored my delivery instructions so I didn't even notice the food was here for several minutes after delivery. When I realized it was over $100 worth of someone else's food, I called the restaurant, who were incredibly kind & immediately knew who I was / what happened. I ended up just driving to pick up my actual order & brought back the other food, and they gave me free krab rangoons with my order for the trouble. Will 100% come back here for food. Very good! Let me preface by saying that I've lived in San Francisco Bay for 20 years, and have had some of the best asian food this country has to offer. I'm not a snob, but I do know what good quality food tastes like. This doesn't mean the food here is bad, it's just that my taste buds are a bit different, and so this review reflects my tastes. This restaurant had wonderful customer service. The order was completed quickly, and the portions of food are big. The cost is about average, not cheap, but not too expensive. The food itself was underwhelming. I may have ordered the wrong items, I don't know, but I tried the items that were most recommended by other Yelpers as well as the kind woman who I called to place the order. The ChowMein was mostly greasy, without a lot of flavor. The green beans were also very greasy. The flavors just felt salty, not really robust or rich in flavor. I'll be trying out a few other places. read more

Ever since the Pandemic, the Golden Palace has ceased to provide what I consider to be "good food." We ordered our final helping from here just today. The pan fried chow mein was simply too hard to eat. The chicken had a distinctly barbecued flavor - which wasn't expected. The pot stickers were tasteless. And the spring rolls were more like winter rolls with cabbage so hard and stringy it must have been grown last year. This is a real unfortunate turn of events as the Palace, at one time, was a go-to place for us. Sorry to say, we won't be returning. read more

Wow I'm impressed. I usually dont go out for Chinese food bc I can make it at home. We had a group of 5, hungry from kayaking and wanted to get the most out of our monies. Very high quality menus and lots of options to choose from. We decided to do Option B - Family style and MAHH GAWDD there was so much food. Food wise, the temperature of all the foods that arrived was extra hot because I was constantly blowing before each bite but it also made the dishes that much more tasteyyy! I really enjoyed the soup with egg, corn, and tofu bits-- wished I had a bigger bowl of this. Food wise, everything was tasteyyy (must be that MSG tho!) And cooked very well. My friends and I came here after Kayaking at the Aquatic Center. We were ready for some good food as we were all hungry from rowing around the lake. When we came in, we were greeted and seated right away. The service was good and out orders were taken right away (enough time for us to look through the menu and make decisions). After taking our orders, we were served water and were asked if we wanted other drinks besides water. We ordered a family style (option B). IT. WAS. BOMB! The food was perfect - warm and awesome flavor! Not too salty, not too sweet. We absolutely LOVED the chow mein with shrimp and the cream cheese fried wontons. I would have given it a 5 star, but, towards the end, the server got confused and did not swipe my card for payment. Then, practically said that we didn't give her our card to pay. I'll be honest and say that we used to go to Silver Dragon prior to finding Golden Palace, and, ever since SD got to it's new location, it hasn't been the same and isn't good anymore. Thankfully we found Golden Palace! EVERYTHING we've tried from here has been delicious! When you're craving good chow mein, this is the spot! I also love that the beef in their broccoli beef dish isn't super fatty and it's thinly cut! The sauce is AMAZING. Their sweet n sour chicken is also really good and we like that the sauce is on the side so you can add as little or much as you want! The potstickers have such a unique flavor compared to others I've had, they're so good! And all the tempura veggies are crispy and the outside is never soggy, even with them only doing "to go" orders right now. We'd highly suggest this place! Decided to give this place multiple tries due to it being so close to me, but I have to say I was disappointed.. ordered takeout on a Friday night and boy was it unappetizing.. it's a old run down location black stains follow your steps in and into the kitchen, I can see why it's to go only. We got pork fried rice, Mongolian beef and chicken chow fun. The rice was dry and had no veggies, the beef was tough and there was more onions than anything I'd see and the noodle for the chow fun were dry as well? It all tasted old.. This is the third time we've tried.. we should've got the memo when there was a hair in it last time.. don't recommend! read more
