Super nice staff inside and pretty tasty Chinese food. Stopped by for lunch on a whim since another Chinese restaurant went belly up. We were the only ones eating at this restaurant but since I overheard the staff speaking Chinese- I figured they have to be pretty authentic in food. So my husband and I ordered the two person dinner menu- won ton soup, potstickers, orange chicken and beef and broccoli, BBQ pork fried rice. Soup was tasty with bits of vegetables and won tons with a good amount of meat inside, broth was great. The orange chicken tasty, crispy on the outside with moist chicken inside- lots of sauce on it. Rice was tasty too, slight salty but ok. So we left with a lot of leftovers and full belly. This establishment decor- cute inside with Asian decor; clean tidy bathrooms. May come back to have lunch again if I'm in the antelope area. read more

Impressed from the first! Clean, neat, with friendly service! When we first got our orders I thought there was no way we could finish all the food....but dang! I had the salt and pepper chicken with green beans and I devoured it! Good amount of heat. The level where your eyes water but you don't go through your entire drink cooling it off. It was all deep fried and those green beans were the best I've ever eaten. They cook the food when you order I think and lord have mercy! Anyway, my wife and I will be back! I overlooked the dated interior & dived into the "rice plate" offerings (comfort food,to me) of fresh sautéed dishes (fresh veggies & protein) & hot bed of rice. Trying to find a good old "hole in the wall" place that serves pretty good Chinese dishes at reasonable price has been hard to find (out here). I think I found it. read more

This place is so good. You can go with a simple classic like Chow Mein, or something more exotic, and you'll be beyond content either way. Food will be hot and fresh, even for carry out. If you've never been here you definitely should give it a try. read more

Top quality service, food and atmosphere. Tried this restaurant on a Sunday evening, when it is difficult to find open asian places. So glad we did! Menu is extensive and lots of exotic choices. I was in the area and wanted to try something new and found this place looking at google maps list of food places near me. I ordered 3 $11.95 dinner specials. The first was orange chicken with chow mein which was really really good. It had a sligjt sweetness to it, the breading almost taste like funnel cake which was yummy. The second special I got was general chicken. It also had a really good flavor and wasn't spicy like other general chickens I had. The last special I ordered was sweet and sour pork with pork fried rice. I'm not a huge fan of rice in general but this rice was still pretty good. The sweet and sour pork was tender and had a good strong flavor. I split the plates with someone else and they loved everything but the general chicken was their favorite. As for me, I liked all 3 and can't decide which one was better. I would get all of them again and they all had such different flavor profiles it's impossible to choose. They have the best chow mein I've ever tried out of all the Chinese restaurants I've tried in Antelope, North Highlands or Rio Linda. It has a char flavor to it that sets it above the rest. I will definitely be back next time I'm in the area. read more

It's been six years from my last review (when they first opened) and it's time for an update. I'm happy to note that Temple Garden is still as tasty as I remembered. When I recently ordered takeout and asked about vegan options the woman on the phone was also knowledgeable. Unfortunately, when I tried to use the yelp check-in offer for free spring rolls I was told that they stopped honoring it over a year ago, which contradicted what I was told on the phone when I ordered. I ended up getting charged for the spring rolls when I showed up to pick up my order. Not a big deal, but kind of annoying to be told one thing and then charged. Although I have enjoyed all the dishes I have tried at Temple Garden, I still see room for improvement in their vegetarian/vegan section and would love to see some more items (like an orange tofu for example) added to the menu. Here's hoping they are even better the next time I order takeout. read more

We ordered takeout for our first time here. I would say the portions are nice we got sweet & sour chicken and Mongolian beef! Everything was tender and veggies were cooked nicely. The only think I would like in the future is if they don't substitute the chicken for so many pineapples. We will be trying this place again for their dinner menu. read more

If you've read any of my other reviews you'll know I normally order a few things to see if I should even come back. the first thing is Salt & Pepper Chicken or Shrimp. It's one of those dishes that sounds easy, and it kind of is if they know what they're doing. and also at least one other dish from the menu that's like a lunch or dinner special. This place has an interesting twist on Salt & Pepper Chicken, they added Asparagus. Yeah, this little addition made it SOOOO much better. everything was crisp and crunchy not unlike a tempura. The spices could have been kicked up a bit. Normally this dish adds Szechuan pepper to make it interesting but I didn't taste the telltale buzz of the ground Szechuan pepper and the usual sliced almost carmelized onions were missing as well, maybe because of the asparagus. Overall it was good, MUCH better than most of the other mediocre Chinese restaurants around Sacramento. (yeah I said it again, Sacto has a dearth of decent Chinese joints!). The other thing I got was one of their lunch specials: Mongolian Beef with Chow Mein. For a cheap lunch special, it was surprisingly good! The Chow Mein actually had lots of flavor and there was lots of it with plenty of veggies and BBQ pork. The Mongolian Beef is normally something I avoid, but I'm SO happy I got it here. The beef was super tender and flavorful lots of beef and other veggies. . I like this place and will come back to try other dishes and see if it's good enough to be part of my regular rotation of places to grab a bite. A solid 4 stars for this meal. read more

First, Cindy was great. very professional taking my order and answering questions. I hadn't been here before so had a few re: MSG use, use of low sodium soy if possible. Next, I was CRAVING POTSTICKERS. I found theirs to be superior. They are deep fried, that's a first. Their dipping sauce wasn't very salty, a hint of sweetness , snd very tasty. I also like mine spicy, so had requested chili oil and was given a 2oz container (same size as the dipping sauce). Perfect balance. I dumped both on the potstickers, and they sucked in the mixture. OH! SO! GOOD!! To accompany this I got a house fried rice which had chicken, BBQ pork & beef. So very tasty. Lovely pan bits from the stir frying, the scallions obviously in towards the end of the cooking process. YUM!!! I can't wait to return and experience other dishes. Their menu looked pretty extensive. Came in on New Year's Day and it was quiet inside. The restaurant is cute and clean inside. I was immediately greeted. I saw a special on the wall for lunch specials during the week but there is also a daily special, even on weekends. I'll attach it in my photos. 2 hour wait, had to cancel order. Lack of communication. Bummed on this, food itself is about a 3 star.

I had a $10 pickup coupon from Grubhub, and I was in the area, so I decided to pickup lunch and take it to the park. I ordered the pork egg fu young and the honey bbq pork. I got to the restaurant, and my food was waiting for me. The lady at the counter was very polite. I took it over to the park, and sat down for lunch. The food was still hot. The Honey BBQ pork was very good. It also had sesame seeds on it. The flavor was very good. Sweet, porky goodness. The Egg Fu Young was just OK. In addition to the egg and pork, it also had onions and bean sprouts. Every item was the right proportion, and the onions and sprouts were not enough that they were a "filler." The sauce/gravy was hot,and also added a savory flavor. There was also enough that I took about half home with me. While I did enjoy the Egg Fu Young, it was a bit greasy. As I ate, I saw that there was quite a bit of oil at the bottom of the tray. I know it's a fried product, but I've eaten Egg Fu Young at a lot of other places that weren't as oily. Again, it was good, but if I eat here again, I would probably try something else. It was an OK meal. read more

Got take out. They were next on the list to find our new local spot for Chinese. We ordered walnut shrimp, platter, Beijing beef and both house chow mein and rice. The best item was the shrimp. The glaze had hardened and the texture was great. The worst was the beef, expecting another great texture dish, the result was a bland boiled meat, with overcooked peppers. Also the chow mein had way too much dark soy or oyster sauce but at the same time was also bland. 6/10 read more
