Mom and I have been here so many times over the past 6 years. The last time was a couple of weeks ago. We again had our favorites. I wasn't very hungry so I only had the super spider roll. I am a big fan of the spicy fish,(水煮鱼）my only complaint is that it's a bit salty. You can really taste the flavor of the peppercorns cooked into the soup. Green beans are well cooked. I also think they are a little on the salty side, but I prefer the green beans like this. I generally think it is hard to go wrong with walnut shrimp. The batter is especially even. The price is maybe on the high end. For example, walnut shrimp is over 20 bucks. I think it's fine, and maybe the most consistent Chinese / Japanese place in moraga. Stopped by while visiting my daughter in Moraga, CA. The staff greeted us as soon as we walked in. It was late (within an hour before closing), so it wasn't crowded. We ordered the honey walnut prawns, spicy eggplant (we added tofu), vegetable chow fun & steamed rice. They were so nice, they gave us an order of California rolls on the house! The food was delicious! I would go there to eat everyday if I could! Portions were large, so we ended up taking left overs home. My daughter placed a take out order of sweet & sour pork for her other half. He enjoyed the pork along with the left overs when he got home. Service was great & our waitress was very attentive. Pretty good sushi spot in Moraga! My friend and I were craving sushi and decided to come here, was not disappointed! Service was great, everyone was so attentive and kind the entire dinner. Also the vibe of the place is nice and simple, good place to eat dinner. We got crab cheese puffs, miso soup, and a roll each for dinner. Crab cheese puffs: 5/5 - very tasty! A go-to appetizer because they're simple and tasty. These were great, fried well and had a delicious flavor. Totally get these if you don't know what appetizer to start with! Miso soup: 4/5 - this soup was good but a little bit too salty. I like that they had real shaved bonito in the soup, added a lot of flavor but it may have made it slightly too salty. Wish there was a little more tofu but overall really good too! Spicy Tuna Roll: 4/5 - really good! Quality was great and the tuna was very flavorful. Rice was not dry and the roll was balanced. I do wish it was a little bit bigger but it's ok since we ordered other food too! Tempura Roll: 5/5 - this is the roll my friend god, she really liked it! Shrimp was tasty and fried well and she said it was very satisfying and that she would order it again. Overall our experience at golden palace was great! We definitely want to return when I visit her again. The menu had a lot of Chinese dishes so that will be what we tackle next! Modest and spacious place. Service was very quick and the staff was super friendly. We tried only sushi, however they gave a decent number of Chinese dishes as well. Nigiri pieces had decent size and fish was fresh and tender. Scallops were really good. Didn't quite like the taste of uni and tobiko has light sour aftertaste which was weird. But they do carry Hokkaido uni, scallops and fish so that can be a good treat for sushi enthusiasts. It would be pricey though. All rolls we tried were great, no complaints there. Green tea is made with packets which is not a good sign for me. Not getting it again. Despite the few issue, definitely coming there again. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in the area. The menu is just chock full of amazing dishes. I like that they offer both Chinese and Japanese food. Had dinner here with my boyfriend for the first time today and it was honestly some of the best Chinese food I've had in a while. The food has an amazing taste, the service is extremely fast, and the workers are really friendly and accommodating. I was surprised coming here from out of town, I was worried it wouldn't be worth the drive but it definitely was. The servers would check how we were doing often and refill our drinks. On top of that they provided watermelons and a basket of fortune cookies to choose from! Overall great experience.
