It has been a while since we have dined here and was so happy we walked in today! We ordered the Bento lunch specials ($11.95!) and really enjoyed the chicken teriyaki and katsu. We also had tempura and sashimi and both were also fresh and delicious! Yum! The service was quick and attentive and we shall return soon!

We were here for lunch on a Sunday and ordered from the Lunch Special menu. It's a small restaurant and we were the only ones dining in. However I noticed a steady pace of take out orders. We did not order any sushi. We ordered beef tip ($14.50) and the two item bento box (3 pieces of sashimi and teriyaki chicken.) for $10.50, It came with miso soup which was slightly too salty for our taste. These are great prices for lunch. My hubby said the 3 pieces of sashimi was very fresh and oh so good. The chicken teriyaki was good - not dry. It came with a decent serving of ginger which is one of my favorite side dishes. Service was good and since we were the only ones there we actually finished in less than an hour. This might be petty but I don't believe in tipping on the tax and I noticed that on the bill. Overall - food was good.

Solid local sushi spot. Didn't get the lunch special but couple of friends did which was very affordable and looked good. Unagi Don had the perfect proportion of rice to fish, good condiments to go with it. Service was fast. Restaurant was decorated nicely, on the smaller size but didn't effect waiting times when I went in for Lunch.

Late post but I need to warn that we made a reservation through Yelp back on 3/6/26 for table of 4 at 6:15. When we arrived they had no record of the reservation. The place is small and all tables were taken. I showed them my confirmation text and they said we should've called. We were on a tight schedule to attend a show at Orinda Theater so had to find another place to eat. Funny how Yelp sent me a message today but good thing since it reminded me to post a warning. Neve got to try the food but giving 3 stars since unsure if it's the restaurant's or yelp's fault.

One of my rules is to never leave a review based only on DoorDash because it's rarely representative of a true experience and generally, the food isn't as good. However, I was craving sushi the other night and decided to try a new place and man! This place is amazing, and I can't wait to go in person to get a sense of the in restaurant experience. For now, the 5 is based on the great sushi! I ordered: Sushi puzzle - I wanted to not like this because it had little bits of green onion on top, which I didn't expect, but this was delicious and had a really nice kick! Spicy salmon roll - this is delicious! Super simple, but absolutely right. Lafayette handroll - again, delicious and fresh and a really good amount of fish! The frustrating thing is that all three were so good that I don't know what I'd order next time because I do like to try new things.

We stopped by on a Saturday evening, we sat by the bar, ordered a Bento box and two rolls, one was on the menu and the other one the chef (Alex) prepared for us after we told him what we liked, and we enjoyed that sushi the most, he said that it's a titanic with a little twist , the other sushi roll was great as well, everything was fresh, service was on point, they did everything on front of us, the sashimi was great too. The portions were generous , we couldn't even finish the bento between two, and took the chicken katsu to go. I'm surprised to see people think otherwise because we thought that this little "hole in the wall" was a hidden gem, if we are in the area again, we will definitely come back!

Stopped by this spot randomly. The place has a cozy vibe -- small, low-key, and relaxed. The waitress was friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Sapporo and some edamame to start, and I'm just chilling watching the game on TV while waiting for my Spider Roll. Good atmosphere if you're looking for something casual to unwind for a bit.

The food was very fresh and tasty, and the prices were fair for the quality. The waitress Winnie was so friendly, attentive, I highly recommend this place and will definitely come back again!

Sirene absolutely knocked it out of the park…read more We started with their seafood tower (or Captain's Platter--I can't remember the exact name), and it was the highlight of the meal. The presentation alone turns heads, but the quality backs it up. Sitting proudly at the very top of the tower were two sea urchins filled with uni. Not just a token garnish--they were generously loaded and set the tone for everything that followed. The jumbo prawns were incredibly sweet and juicy. We had three different kinds of oysters, each with its own personality, ranging from bright and briny to rich and creamy. The scallops were excellent, and the ceviche was fresh and flavorful. After the tower we shared a Margherita pizza, which was very good, followed by the fried chicken. The batter was crisp while the meat stayed juicy and moist inside. It's not often you find fried chicken that nails both texture and tenderness so well. The seafood tower wasn't just delicious--it was visually stunning. Honestly, if this exact platter were served at a restaurant in Palo Alto, I wouldn't blink at a $250 price tag. At Sirene, it was just $125, which felt like an incredible value for both the quality and quantity. I'm perfectly happy not paying Palo Alto rents if this is what Oakland delivers. And don't let stereotypical perceptions of Oakland keep you away. Grand Lake is one of the city's most charming neighborhoods, with beautiful homes, tree-lined streets, and a vibrant local dining scene. Sirene is absolutely worth the trip.

'm extremely disappointed by how our group was treated, particularly by the manager, Devin. Our…read moreexperience left us feeling that we were being singled out and discriminated against because we are Asian. We were a party of four celebrating a birthday. Between the four of us, we ordered two double shots of vodka. We were not loud, disruptive, disrespectful, or acting intoxicated. Despite that, Devin decided to cut our entire table off from ordering any additional alcohol. What made the situation especially upsetting was watching other tables with approximately the same number of people order multiple bottles of wine without an issue. When we politely asked Devin why we were being cut off, the explanation we were given was essentially that it was because we had ordered double shots. That explanation made no sense to us considering our behavior and the amount of alcohol being served to other tables. We fully understand and respect a restaurant's responsibility to stop serving someone who appears intoxicated or is behaving inappropriately. That was not what was happening at our table. We were simply four Asian customers celebrating a birthday and enjoying dinner. Being treated differently from the other patrons around us was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and completely ruined what was supposed to be a special celebration. Whether discrimination was the intention or not, that is absolutely how the unequal treatment made us feel. Management should seriously examine how decisions like this are being made and whether all customers are being treated by the same standard. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I cannot recommend this establishment

The restaurant space is well-lit, has plenty of indoor seating and seems suitable for a date or casual get-together with friends. My partner would give the food a five-start rating for its simplicity, generally flavorful, with spicy sauces and THE BEST guacamole! He had the Korean spare ribs and mash potatoes. He found the ribs to be fall-off-the bone tender, with potatoes that were more whipped than mashed alongside a carrot puree. I, on the other hand, had the New York Steak and au gratin potatoes. Though I wanted to enjoy my entree, I found the New York Steak to be unfortunately chewy and with too much fat. The au gratin potatoes could have had more crispy layers but tasted mediocre. Though I'd only rate this first experience with three stars. the service staff DID win us over and could potentially be the reason I'd be open to giving it another try.
