Out of all the Golden Spoons in OC the Newport location has got to be one of my favorite ones. First, the location there are seats inside as well as plenty of seats outside (always a plus when you can sit and enjoy your frozen yogurt at the location) Second, the staff here are always so cheerful and friendly. Third, the portions. This location does small, medium, and large (I believe others do a mini size and I believe you can request a kids size here; although it is not advertised). They are VERY generous with their portion size and topping scoops, which I very much appreciate! The topping to yogurt ratio is perfect. As a plus this is one of the only locations that does a variety of different cookie doughs as a topping. This location also offers a stamp card so after the 8th yogurt you buy you get one free. read more

Golden Spoons is a classic. We've been coming here for a long time. But lately it's been disappointing. The prices are OK. The service is average. But it's frustrating that their restroom is indefinitely out of order. And when you ask the staff to use it, even when a child has an emergency, they're extremely rude about it. read more

Stopped by on our way home to get some frozen yogurt. It's was Fathers Day Sunday around 3pm First I thought it was closed but no, it was just empty no customers. I hesitated for a minute but then we walked in to check it out. We got the original tart and the strawberry lemonade and both tasted good. They had many topping options except fresh fruits which my son and I like the most with our frozen yogurt. We chose cookie dough and some mini chocolates. We ordered medium size it was just the right amount. Customer service was ok, could have been a bit friendlier specially we were the only customers in the store. When I'm craving a thick and creamy type of yogurt, Golden Spoon is my go-to! It tastes partial ice creamy, partial yogurty to me. What's great is it's tasty as is without any toppings but it's nice to have options for the variety of topping they have. The inside of this location is quite small and it's not really inviting (as in it's literally chairs and tables) no ambiance, but there are outside tables as well for a more fresh air vibe. This review is for the Newport Coast store. In the last month, I have been there 3 times. All 3 times they have been "out" of Chocolate. The employees gave me different stories each time. It seems weird that they are not stocking the most popular flavor. I wonder if the store will be around by Summer. No worries for me - as I will not be returning. used to be a loyal customer at Golden Spoon Newport Coast, but their new pricing policy is a joke. $1.75 for four scoops of a topping -- but you're forced to get four of the same topping instead of mixing? Who thought that was a smart move? It's lazy and greedy. On top of that, the staff don't even wear hair coverings. I literally thought to myself, "how are they serving food with long hair hanging out?" Then sure enough, I found a hair in my yogurt that definitely wasn't mine. Disgusting. Between the nonsense pricing, stale product, rude service, and zero basic hygiene standards, Golden Spoon turned a loyal customer into someone who won't ever be back. No ambiance btw lol, staff rush you and are rude... what is the hiring process like? In response to the owner: The pricing is the same obviously... but now instead of 4 scoops of a variety of toppings it's 4 scoops of the same topping, pretty gross. What I ordered: Small Frozen Yogurt w/ Toppings - $5.50 + $1.49/ea 3/10: Mango Sunrise - non-dairy mango and passion fruit - the sample tasted good, but in the cup it tasted like lip gloss/had chemical flavors (no I didn't have any lip products on) - melted significantly faster even though it's 60 degrees out 7.75/10: Original Tart - creamy and tart, but slightly icy After seeing a Golden Spoon coming soon to Irvine, I couldn't wait and had to try the one in Newport! The server makes your cup and you get to choose from a large variety of toppings. You can sample flavors before choosing too. There are a few small tables inside, in addition to the outdoor tables throughout the plaza. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with my experience. The bad taste from the mango sunrise ruined my cup :( I don't think this small cup of froyo was worth $8, especially when the yogurt was average and the toppings are the same at other cheaper froyo places. Milkshakes! Honestly name something better. It's a luscious, creamy, sweet treat and it hits the spot. Came here on a Saturday evening and it had a 5-10 min line that was steady and one person behind the counter. The line moved fast, and the customer service was 10/10. We got the make your own shake with vanilla, coconut and chocolate bits. It was also a 10/10, grand slam. A few of the locations have mixed reviews, but this one was amazing. My husband and I found this location by accident and I'm so glad to have a Golden Spoon closer to home! On a Saturday night there was only one other couple there but I think that's because it's so new. It's been forever since I've been to a Golden Spoon and I'm happy to say it's just as delicious as I remember. If you need a refresher on how tasty it is, they do samples. I feel like this is uncommon nowadays so I was happy to hear that. I got vanilla and peanut butter cup yogurt swirl topped with cookie dough bites and peanut butter cups. Sounds like it would be too much peanut butter but trust me, it's perfect. 10/10 recommend and I will absolutely be back. Another huge plus of this location is that parking is sooo easy. It's a large shopping center and you don't have to deal with the traffic that comes with the Corona Del Mar location. read more

I'm a froyo addict but won't be coming to this location anymore because they are frequently out of vanilla, and today they were out of both vanilla and chocolate. This has probably happened 5 times that I've left the store with nothing because I don't want non-basic flavors. I questioned why they are always out of the most popular classic flavors today and was told it is because "the machine breaks." Somehow I think this frozen yogurt business should be more interested in overcoming the issue of their primary frozen yogurt machine never working. I came today (Friday) at around 3 pm and it wasn't that busy. But that makes sense since they told me they just opened this week. I haven't seen a golden spoon in a very long time, so it was refreshing to experience it again. It's very nice inside and there are tables. The customer service was great, I got a warm welcome from the two people at the front and they make the fro-yo for you! This lace is terrible. The yogurt started melting right as I left the store which tells me that they don't clean their machines as often as the Huntington Beach store. The yogurt tastes old, the help was very rude, and the price was $3.25 more than Huntington Beach Golden Spoon. Stay away from this store. Unfortunately we did not get the name of the boy who was working tonight (8/7 at 9pm) but let me just tell you, he deserves a raise! My boyfriend and I are frozen yogurt connoisseurs. No joke, we have froyo maybe three times a week (it's becoming a problem). Our favorite thing to do is to pick a couple flavors and top it with an insane amount of fruity pebbles. I'm talking like a 1:1 ratio. We usually make our froyo ourselves, so I was worried we would not be able to achieve the proper fruity pebble to yogurt ratio since we were forced to put our creation in someone else's hands. However, Golden Spoon DID NOT disappoint. When I tell you I told the guy to put "more fruity pebbles than he thought was normal" HE DELIVERED. BRO UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT.
