Called Jack on Thursday and we set up the delivery for Saturday morning. He was delayed that morning and called to let me know. Totally professional as he still delivered a couple hours after the estimated delivery time. I had already created a spot on the side of the house and showed him where to place the 1/2 cord. Pleasant, responsive and fast, but a cheat. Price was average. I ordered 1/4 cord of wood, and he promptly delivered and neatly stacked about 25sq ft (a 1/4 cord should be 32sq. ft) which was VERY loosly stacked. A cord of wood is measured as 128sq ft (or 4x4x8) and tightly stacked; loosly stacking is the primary way that some disreputable firewood sellers can fool their customers, it should be as tightly stacked as it is when it arrives on the truck. read more

We ordered a 1/4 cord and got it delivered right as scheduled. They had it unloaded and stacked in something like 15 min. I will go back to them again. The wood was mostly almond with some walnut sprinkled in. All the wood was about 24 inches long. read more

Jack's was able to get around the big bush I've got in front and put his wood right where I wanted it. He didn't try to enter through the backdoor or ask if he could come inside. He did come quickly, and when he finished he covered my rack. I'm hoping Jack's wood will keep me warm all winter. read more

Excellent service! I have a tiny woodburning stove and requested wood no longer than 16" and every piece fit. I recently ordered another 1/2 cord from Jack again and after they left it started to rain so I went out to put the tarp over the wood and they'd already done it! Great stacking job. I've used Jaq (sic) and Golden Sate Firewood for several years. They've always provided excellent service, and only charged me a small amount extra, despite the fact that I live on a nasty hill street, and there are 32 steps from the street to the place where the wood is stacked. Delivery is fast, and Jaq always calls if there's a delay. His prices seem to have jumped this year, but you can't have everything. read more

There's no doubt Jack's a great guy and the stacking service is certainly an added plus, but the wood we were sold was not the wood we ordered. It was supposed to be 1/2 oak and 1/2 almond. Delivery was delayed because he "didn't have enough oak." That's fine so we waited a few extra days. I came home one day and it was all stacked nice and neat where requested. Great. Problem -- as we worked our way through the stack, it was AT MOST 10-15% oak. Sometimes I'd remove 8-10 pieces for a fire and not get a single piece of oak. Almond, of course, is far less expensive and burns much faster. We went through our entire 1/2 cord in less than four months, when it usually lasts us more than a winter. read more
