I visited Golden State Tire today on the recommendation of my brother. Yesterday I left my car at Discount tire to have a slow leak repaired. When I returned to Discount tire, they told me that the tire could not be repaired because the hole was on the edge of the tread near the sidewall where it cannot be repaired. . Because my tires are at about 50% and my truck is all wheel drive, that meant I had to purchase 4 new tires. They quoted me about $1400 for a set of Michelins. Today, Gary gave me a quote of about $1000 for tires of comparable quality and guarantee. He suggested that they take a look at my leaking tire to make sure that it was not repairable. I agreed. The hole was dead center in the middle of the tread and quite repairable. That means that they told me a bald face lie at Discount. Never going there again! Golden State will have my business for all my tire needs in the future. The repair and the rebalance cost me under $25. read more

For many of the same reasons others say, I recommend Gary and Golden State. Service orientation is all too rare these days... but not at this place. I even asked Gary why he thinks he has such a following and his response was quite matter of fact. He says that he has no mega dependence on any supplier and that he can focus on that his customer wants or needs and NOT the dictates of a particular brand. This is fantastic. In fact Im going back this week for some not so easy to find tires for my rider lawnmower. I have confidence that he will be as helpful as before. read more

1977 RV needed tires. Was recommended to other places which I called, got prices and was told that I couldn't get radial tires for I needed a certain size. I was going to take it to this place that I first called since it was a couple of miles away from the repair shop I had the RV in. The tires are 20 years old and sat for 5 years without driving it. Needless to say I was afraid to take it far. Just by chance I googled other places in Escondido and came across Golden State Tire Co. Right away the man on the line told me he just put some on another RV. Told me I could get Firestone Radial tires and let me know about valve extentions I could get so it would be easy to fill up the inside tire. I called back the other places that told me I couldn't get radial tires and then they proceeded to say "I could" but couldn't give me a good explaination of why they didn't tell me that in the first place. The other tires they wanted to sell me are sold for trailers and were made in China. Naturally I decided to go with Golden State Tires. Each person I talked with was very informative and went over everything with me. The price was less than I was quoted from the other shops with a much better tire. The RV was ready to be picked up the next day. After having lots of stress and aggravation at the mechanics (they had my RV for 2 months to smog and put brakes on it). Then at a shop to have the interior stuff fixed (and letting me drive off with a dead battery) and didn't have it ready when I came to pick it up. Golden State Tires, the owner and workers were a little bright light in the trauma of getting my RV up and running. I usually get my tires from Discount Tires but they didn't carry any for this RV. I would go back to Golden in a heartbeat. I'm a women and there's always a little element of feeling that we are being taken advantage of I did not feel that way at Golden State Tire in Escondido. Plus the other places didn't give me prices for all the little extra things that could be needed. That happened to me at the mechanic and RV store and ended up with a bill twice as what I was quoted. Golden State Tires covered all the charges right up front with no added prices once I picked up the RV. read more

Believe it or not this place makes other shops look like idiots. I didn't know how much knowledge has been lost by the typical tire shop. I had some off road tires which four other shops couldn't seal the tires to the rim. The last shop (a popular off road store) recommended them. I showed up and in less than ten minutes I was out the door. Been back twice now for multiple reasons and won't go anywhere else. I don't know why more people haven't found out about this place. read more

They have a larger variety than discount tire, and unlike them they were upfront on the out the door cost. I purchased 4 tires for my trailer, I was able to get a more heavy duty tire for less than the standard one Discount in Encinitas had. I'll go back for my car when needed. read more

I purchased tires from Gary in September for my 2011 Lexus GS350... I wanted a quiet tire with good wear characteristics... I have not been disappointed. Great and quick service with lowest prices in town. They carry both new an used tires. I was able to get a set of low pro tires 225/40/18 60 dollars cheaper than the cheapest place I have found previously which was about 120 - 150 bucks cheaper than Discount Tires, Express tires and Pepboys. This place is neither fancy looking nor in the main traffic route like other places but the service and pricing are extremely pleasing. I highly encourage everyone to give it a chance. I had very little time very early in the morning to get the tires in my RV fixed but I was still greeted with pleasure and they accommodated me by getting right into it and fixing my RV right away while I wait. Horrible service! Had to follow up on my tire order. Ordered 4 tractor tires and had to call back and ask when are the tires going to be here, they told me next day. Have purchased tires before and service was okay. This time it was like I was bothering them, wont be buying from golden state again. Debbie ordered the wrong tires and Gary blamed me. Yeah, you didnt realize I was standing next to the tire installer and heard every word out of your mouth. Was going to cancel order but Andy the tire installer promised he would deliver them. Wow. I have nothing but great things to say about this business. I was frazzled. Dead battery, flat tire, late to work. I pulled in and luckily my tire just needed a patch. I bought a set of tires from Golden State Tires last year. I came in today and asked them to rotate my tires and repair a slow leak caused by a screw. They charged me $17.20 for the patch and didn't rotate the tires. I'll go to Discount Tire next time I need tires. read more
