So I haven't had to go to an eye place in a long time because I had Lasik. However since 10 years, my eyes have gotten a little worse and I decided to stop on in based on a recommendation on a friend. I am so glad I came in. I was greeted by Huy, who did a phenomenal job going through the different frames so that I would feel comfortable and look good based on my preferences. He was able to look up my insurance with ease and laid out what the procedure was for getting the glasses and setting an appointment with their in-house optometrist. I had my appointment with Jackson Ma O.D. He was super friendly and educated me on what had happen with my eyes after some time with my Lasik. I felt confident in his ability and he was very approachable and gave me a great break down on my eyes. This place does get busy on the weekend, but I was able to stop by during my lunch. Over priced. The lens are more expensive and the frame are also more expensive than others. The worst part is the service. The eye exam was rushed and I felt the prescription was not accurate. The sales' attitude is even worst. Failed to explain progressive lens and give suggestions to someone never wore prescription glasses before. Saw 2 different sales afterwards, never seen a smile on their faces. Didn't feel they even wanted to talk to me when I told them the price range of the frame to be under 200 bucks. Finally went to another optical store. Totally deferent experience. I'm still waiting to get the glasses to find out if the prescription needs to be re-evaluated. Anyways, I really wish I didn't come here at the first place. I trusted the reviews, but it turned out to be totally different for me. I would not recommend it. Update: just found out I'm not the only one has a such terrible experience from here. My friend went to Cupertino location and had a similar experience. This place is really dope. I've been doing ortho-k with Dr. Ma, and he's really nice and gives me a good explanation for why my eyes aren't perfect (he uses an eyeball diagram and explains why I'm nearsighted, why I have astigmatism, and explains the anatomy of the eye, which I love learning about. And all of this without me needing to ask!). I'm also pretty tight with the receptionist Kathy, who was chill to talk with me about my summer plans while I was setting up payment. The whole process of waiting, checking up, and setting up payment runs so quickly and smoothly too! I was pretty much in and out in 40 mins for an ortho-k appointment (with annual payment setup time included). Would really recommend cause they're super cool. read more

Worst place! Hustle u for services with additional Charges without telling you alternative is free under insurance. Even worse is that they sell glasses at 4x the market rate. Just the type of Progressive" alone is 279 usd and that doesn't even include frame or lenses. The full progressive will cost you around 800 usd. After the insurance pays 200, you are still 600 bucks out of pocket. （this place totally feels like a scam, and really wish the ladies there could wash their mouth after eating onion soup).You are way better off going out of network to Costco get inspection and fully loaded glasses at less than 300 bucks, and insurance would still cover nearly half of it despite being out of network read more

If it were possible to give zero stars, I would. I ordered a pair of custom Nike sunglasses - the wait was over six weeks. When I finally got them, they'd tinted the lens with the wrong color. They sent it back to "the lab" and then waited for another six weeks. Then they returned the glasses with with a chip in the frame - so returned it again - now it's been months, over multiple phone calls and still the response I get is "it's in the lab, I have to check status." This is after making the payment in full. What a ridiculous and incapable supply chain and even more irresponsible staff. Awful experience. read more

I am a 1st customer to Golden, everything is nice inside the store, really clean and they do check your temperature before let the customer in. Plus one start here ! I made appointment online but I did not get confirmation and they asked me when I booked the appointment, It was a day ago. I don't mind to come back or schedule to another time since it was my mistake, but the girl behind the counter said "i did check all the appointment request yesterday ." to her coworkers. It is a little bit unprofessional to say this in front of the customer. minus one star! The girl who help us explain the insurance throughly, correctly and we able to see the doctor within next 30 mins, and I am so happy that she can help us out ! + one star ! Dr wen was my doctor, she is nice and she did the exam really detail! +one star ! Since my insurance was not eligible, we just did the exam part and we will be back for contacts. At check out, another girl helped us, she told me the price was $115. The price was complete different with the girl who went over my insurance before the exam. I brought up the question like if i am going to get 15% off the fitting price since I am a vsp member , then she look at the other girl to confirm if i am right or wrong . well, the staff needs more training, and needs be more professional. Vsp is the easiest vision insurance you can understand, and staff should be well trained before they quote price to the customer. minus one star Eye doctors are everywhere, how to keep the customers coming back to your store is important. I definitely had a great experience at Golden Milpitas Optometry compared to other offices in the Bay Area. I came to buy glasses last year, but this time, I came for an eye exam and bought glasses on a Sunday. My Sales associate is actually the Sales Manager, Emily Nhan, who was helpful, nice, and friendly. I usually go for insurance-covered glasses and not brand names because my purpose of wearing glasses is to see clearly, not to enhance my appearance. I was surprised when Emily immediately knew and picked out the style and color of glasses that I would like and fit me. I didn't have to waste time looking at ones that I don't like. I also tried on other glasses to see if there were any better options. Another sales associate named Kathy Ip was nice to help me by giving her opinion of how the glasses looked on me before I finalize the right one. Kathy was sociable and gave a warm environment, which made me enjoyed my stay at this office. Yvonne La, the Assistant Manager from the Admin team, also helped me with picking the right glasses. Since she was a young adult and about the same age as me, she knew which glasses have the kind of designs that I would like. Since Emily was busy with another patient, Yvonne brought out the insurance-covered glasses for me before Emily sat down to help me. In addition, Howard Wong from the Admin team did a great job with the pre-tests. I did have some problem with taking the retinal screenings, but he was patient and took his time to help me. Although I took a while to get the photos right, he didn't show that he was annoyed and actually helped me by moving my eyes to make sure that I was looking at the right targets. Last by not least, Dr. Jackson Ma performed the eye exam for me. Although he was very busy seeing patients after patients, during the short amount of time, I found that he was not intimidating at all but was kind and approachable. He was knowledgeable about my medical history even though what I listed was not related to the optometry field. I have been a customer of Golden Milpitas Optometry for over 10 years. However, because I had moved to San Ramon in 2008, I switched to another optometry office in Dublin due convenience and proximity. My experience yesterday reminded me that I should have never left them in the first place... Here's my story. My son recently received an incision on his eye from his ophthalmologist in Fremont. He's an Ortho-K user, and because of his procedure, he was asked to instead use glasses for the next couple of weeks to give his eyes a chance to heal. The challenge for him was that he did not have glasses that were his level of prescription (those who are Ortho-K patients will probably be familiar with the different sets of glasses needed). Because he just started school and he was unable to see the whiteboard, we needed to quickly find a place to provide him with a prescription (all of his previous prescriptions were partial only, to support shorter timeframes post Ortho-K non-usage). We decided therefore to rush over to Milpitas Golden Vision, as in my memory they provided really good service I remember many years ago. From the moment we went in, we were welcome by their staff who patiently listed to our situation. Yvonne assisted us first, where even though it was quite busy (there were at least 20 other people in the office), she not only warmly listened to our needs - but also went ahead and suggested that perhaps there was a way we wouldn't need to spend extra money on an exam, and that maybe she could make a call to our normal optometry office to see if she could ask them a favor and send a full prescription to us. She spent a considerable time with another office on the phone (one which they are not related to), patiently discussing the matter so as to find a solution for us. Finally, she was able to arrange a full prescription for my son, without the need for any additional appointment or payment. I was so surprised and amazed - here is an optometry office for which I am not a recent customer, who went out of their way to actually not try to make money...and above and beyond that spend the time to help us get a prescription so that they could save a non-recurring patient some money. Who does that these days? After being impressed with the service Yvonne provided us, we went ahead and decided to book an eye appointment for myself (for which I was overdue anyways.) Even though we were walk-in and they were busy, they accommodated us, and in about 30~40 minutes I was able to see the doctor and her assistant. Ritu was the helpful assistant who helped me to obtain the necessary pre-exam readings for my eyes. Do you know that part of the pre-exam test where they shoot a whiff of air to test the pressure in your eye? Usually it's a horrible experience. But the way Rita does it, it isn't bad at all and the entire procedure is over quickly before you know it. In the past when I lived in Santa Clara and frequented this clinic on an annual basis, I was used to seeing Dr. Wen, who I remember being very good. However, this time I had the chance to see another optometrist - Dr. Shih. I need to say that Dr. Shih is simply amazing...the most patient, thorough, and empathetic optometrist I have ever met. My son was with me the entire time during the exam, when together with me she patiently went over all of the scans and measurements she determined for my eyes. Because I had a surgical procedure in my upper right eye several years ago, Dr. Shih even took the time to talk to me about that, as well as other parts of the scan I should be mindful of, and what I may want to be mindful about now that I am entering my mid 40's. Because my son was in the room, we also talked a bit about Ortho-K and tips on how to be careful with them...which was also impressive to me because, again, my son is not a patient. Just shows the type of caring person Dr. Shih is, and how much she enjoys what she does and cares about everyone around her : ) It's rare to step out of any sort of health/medical appointment so amazed and impressed that it drives you to write a very long review...just in case there may be the possibility that if there are others who may be on the fence when considering this optometry clinic, they may consider quickly jump off that fence after reading about the experience we had! I would therefore, without hesitation, very highly recommend this office for any of your optometry needs. Thank you again Yvonne, Ritu, and Dr. Shih for everything. Lastly, even though it is about a 45 minute drive from my home...I have a feeling I will now be making that drive down to Golden Milpitas Optometry every year for all of my annual eye examinations... read more

I made an appointment for 3:30pm and came here right on time and signed in on their iPad. However they are not aware of people signing in and at 3:45 I decided to ask a worker if it's my turn yet and that's when they finally decided to check the sign in sheet on their computer. The doctor who helped check my eyes was nice though. I was also dilated for an eye test so I couldn't read the price tags of all the eyeglasses. The man who helped me choose glasses kindly helped me and guided me through choosing my glasses and also gave me some advice on them. If you come here with a reservation, I would still tell the workers you are here on an appointment and be insistent on it. read more

First time my doctor was not friendly and nice. BUT the second time doctor Yee helped me with the contact test. She was professional, friendly, and quick. They charged me $105 for stigmatist contact lens test (I did not have insurance), but the base price was $70 for normal contact lens test. I was referred to Dr Wen by Dr Mandel, a very reputable LASIK doctor. Dr Mandel was unable to correct with LASIK my 2.5 Astigmatism due to my underlying Keratoconus condition and referred me to Dr Wen. Dr Wen measured me and designed a Scleral lens. Scleral lens are a type of hard contact lens which is both optically 20/20 and very comfortable (because the cornea never touches the lens). I am 100% happy with my Scleral lens from Dr Wen. It is indeed both very comfortable for daylong use, and it gives me 20/20 vision in both eyes. Something I never thought possible with my underlying 2.5 astigmatism. Best regards, Dmitry read more

I have been coming to Golden Milpitas Optometry for years and I am a very satisfied customer. I just went back for my annual checkup and would like to share my experiences. Dr. Wen is always very thorough and professional, and expertises in conducting annual vision exam for me and my family. I have high myopia, so finding and fitting for a correct and comfortable pair of contact lenses and glasses is not an easy job every year. But Dr. Wen is forever patient and helpful in finding me a good fit, no matter how many times we need to re-try a new pair. My boys are also doing Ortho-K treatment under Dr. Wen as well. She is very patient and great with the kids. I am very comfortable to entrust my kids under her care. Kathy is the technician who helps me to find and fit for my glasses.
