First time here. I was leary about ordering when I first walked in. Very dumpy looking. Water on the floor, down the hall (I'm guessing toilet leak). In all fairness, when I was leaving, one of the workers was heading back with a mop and bucket. With all that said, I still wanted to try the food. I just changed my order from "eat in" to "to go". I ordered L4. Lunch special. Shrimp lo mean and paid the extra 50 cents for an egg roll. The egg roll was tasty, especially for 50 cents. The lo main was very good tasting. The shrimp were small but plentiful. I have to agree with a previous review, the chicken rice definitely tastes like something out of a box. Nothing I would call a fried rice. The portion was plentiful, especially since this was a lunch special. If you can overlook the overall shape of the restaurant and the chicken fried rice, it's not bad. read more

This is our go to Chinese place for lunch orders. They are close by and it's quick! It's not the best but it's good enough for when you are craving Chinese food. We've tried a few different items here multiple times and it's always decent. My coworker thinks it's the best around here, you do have to go out farther for more authentic Asian food. The portions are big for me but I tend to not eat a lot but I will have multiple meals with this. It's a good deal for $10. You can pick from an appetizer and what rice you want. I ordered sesame chicken and cream cheese wontons. First I got all mixed up and accidentally drove to the golden wok in west Bloomington which apparently has no relation to this one in Burnsville. I ordered online which was a little confusing because for over an hour it kept only saying that my order was being prepared so I ended up just going over there eventually and it seems my order was already ready. It seemed to be all correct but I ended up being a bit disappointed - my sesame chicken ended up just being some fried chicken pieces with a side of sweet and sour sauce with sesame seeds sprinkled on top which is not typically my idea of sesame chicken. On the plus side though the cream cheese Rangoons were yummy and there was a bonus egg roll in my order which was an unexpected surprise. We have tried all of the local Chinese places in the area and this is hands down the best! Way, way better. It's exactly what I want from a small, family-owned Chinese restaurant. We have never ordered delivery - we always pick up since we live close by - so I cannot comment on delivery. The food is always extremely hot, portions are generous, and everything we've had is delicious. We love the garlic chicken, lo mein, sweet & sour chicken, sesame chicken, crab Rangoon - I could go on. They also have a few coupons for free menu items if you spend over a certain amount (check their website). This is my first choice when I have a craving for Chinese food. Don't waste your time at any of the other places in Burnsville or Apple Valley. Golden Wok is the best! read more

Somehow, my husband likes the chow mein here. It is 90% celery. Last night, he ordered takeout. I ordered oyster wings, tried 2 cream cheese wonton and ate some fried rice. The fried rice was literally chicken bits, onions and chicken broth. No carrots, eggs or peas and no flavor. The chicken wings were fried and coated in oyster sauce, but the wings were yellow. There was no egg or vegetables in the fried rice and about 5 tiny pieces of chicken with absolutely no flavor. Cream cheese wantons, again no flavor and not fried long enough to get that nice browned crispy outside. It was literally just a clump of cream cheese in the middle with mo seasoning or green onion. I had the Moo Goo Gui Pan. I woke up three times during the night with the worst dry mouth ever. No matter what I drank it didn't help. Way way too much salt. I could not finish it. Add in mail said new owners. I think they get new owners every year looking at the adds, menus, reviews and photos. Or at least they say they are new. . I got suckered in. I hate throwing this on here and giving 2 stars but..... the last couple times at Golden wok the food quality has seemed to not be the same. Thinking they changed the recipes? We order from them once or twice a month. We order 2 jumbo half gallons of Chicken fried Rice and use it for leftovers. Today we did just that and ventured out in the bad weather to pick it up. The Rice was this very weird bright yellow color, the lady who answered the phone did not speak great English, but we plan on calling them back. The veggies were crunchy and not cooked through. We always ask for one of the 2 orders to be spicy and it was not cooked to order. We also asked to take advantage of one of their coupons, of free rice with orders over $40, we were told we could get wontons or eggrolls, yet the coupon clearly states rice. 2 large orders of rice and orange chicken are $57. I normally can look it over but to quick grab a bite expecting one thing and getting this makes you mad. I was hoping to reach out to them directly, but there is no contact info to send to. ***not good!!*** So I decided to venture out and try a different Chinese food restaurant and went to golden wok which I've seen advertisement for. I ordered the sesame chicken, Kong pao chicken, cream cheese wonton and the orange chicken with vegetable rice. I'd you ever eat at a real authentic Chinese restaurant you know you rate the restaurant off the taste and quality of their rice. Which is very true and restaurant who have bad tasting rice dishes usually have horrible food. So after receiving our food we first tried the vegetable friend rice. Horrible. ... the rice is dry, very little flavor, the vegetables don't have a good taste. The vegetables taste like they were added in at the last minute and not sautéed or cooked with the rice. Next we tried the kang pao chicken. Oh my. First off this dish along with all the dishes were drenched in sauce, the chicken was very rubbery!! And the flavor was not there. Did not have much of any spice to it at all!! Next we tried the sea same chicken. (Again drenched in sauce). Was way to sweet, like it has a sugary glaze on the chicken, very thick and heavy. Then half the container was filler with broccoli. So I only got 1/2 container of meat?! Very disappointing. Next was orange chicken. Once again drenched in sauce this one way too much!! The sauce was almost a lemon taste more than a orange taste. Taste very much like food additives and Flavor additives. Not a good flavor. Made of dark meat chicken, bad cuts of chicken at that. They also stuffed some broccoli in about 1/4!of the plate too. So where's the chicken I ordered al a cart? Again very disappointing. Last but not least the iconic chroma cheese wontons. These were the most disgusting wontons I have ever had in my life. They were runny inside and tasted like some kind of. Icing off a cake. Very sweet and sugary!! I will never order from here again. Love the shrimp lo mein from here. You definitely get your money's worth of shrimp compared to some other take out places. I really liked the fried rice too. It wasn't dry at all and was tasty. The cream cheese wontons were yummy and fresh. I wasn't a fan of the service here. I was put on hold, but could hear them going back n fourth. I had to repeat my order at least 4 times. I prefer Eddie Cheng for takeout Chinese food because they offer crab rangoon as well and better service. This was a good alternative option though. The combo dinner platters were inexpensive and include an egg roll with a soda which was a great deal. They offer many different dinner options. read more

We have continually been looking for a good Chinese restaurant in Lakeville and all of them seem to be, just OK. We ordered food for delivery - which I know always can cause some changes in food quality - but the wontons were cold and hard by the time they got to us. We always get pork fried rice, sweet & sour chicken, orange chicken, wontons, and egg rolls. The fried rice hasn't been super consistent every time we order - sometimes it's fantastic, and others its lackluster - so that's always a gamble. We've stopped ordering the egg rolls recently due to the quality - but the sweet & sour chicken has always been a consistent staple for us. They provide generous portions for a reasonable price and for that reason - we will likely order from here again in the future. Although, we will still continue to look for a chinese place that sticks in our mind when we think of where we'd like to eat out for dinner that night. read more

Called for a takeout order at 510 on a Saturday night- picked up food by 520! We tried the general tso chicken, sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, cream cheese wontons, and veggie lo mein. We liked everything other than the beef and broccoli. Super flavorful, lots of veggies. Lo mein was the winner of the night. We will definitely return and choose another entree in place of the beef. If you like the taste of regret, order now! There food is greasy, has no taste and they don't follow directions. If you order fried rice with your selection don't expect any veggies in it, its just plain fried rice nothing else. I even showed them the email confirmation price, but they didn't care. I ordered the Singapore chow mei fun, and i don't know what they put in there but it was something that i didn't like! the noodles and cook of the veggies were good but the flavor was off, and it was supposed to be spicy and it wasn't! We tried out this place years ago, and decided to try it again when a friend told me last fall that it's under new management. This place serves the best chicken subgum I have ever eaten, and was loaded with fresh vegetables - broccoli, mushrooms, pea pods, celery, carrots, and big slices of water chestnuts. It's topped off with browned cashews. My husband had General Tso's chicken and our son had chow mein, both dishes were very good. The wontons steal the show - filled with a light citric-flavored cream cheese, and not sure on this, think there's diced shallots too? We order at least once/month, and they have pretty fast delivery. Usually spend around $40 for three adults, and always have leftovers, as servings are large. I ordered over the phone and it was super easy. Only a $2 delivery charge and the prices from the restaurant is cheaper than ordering off DoorDash or Grubhub. They said it was going to take an hour but, got here in 45 minutes. The food arrived hot and smelling amazing! As a cook myself I can tell everything was fresh. The delivery driver was also very courteous. I didn't try the food because I'm on a diet, but the family thought it was good. It definitely wasn't bad. We also got a free order of chicken fried rice because we ordered more than $40. I would absolutely order from them again! read more
