For years, every single time I've been to DCA, I have NEVER seen this ride in operation. It was always temporarily closed for some reason or maybe it was just running and then it would break down again and again. Unclear WHAT it is that makes this ride break down so much, but just recently it was less than a 5 minute wait walk on (probably cuz it just broke down and is running again) and my friend and I were like we gotta do this now cuz we never see it running. There's an elevator for DAS pass holders or anyone who needs to use it, but we just took the stairs. There's a couple rockets and 2 per seat with individual seat belts. The ride is QUITE short, but it's a nice breeze and view of the water and what's surrounding. There's no real music or any ambience for this ride, since the music from the Symphony Swings drowns it out. If anything, it's a more milder Symphony Swings since you're not dipping up and down and the speed is much slower, so if you're with a bit more apprehensive people this may be it (unless they too notice the ride keeps breaking down lol). Honestly, anything more than a 5-10 minute wait isn't worth it though in my opinion. read more

Nevertheless, if you have a squirmy little one, maybe hold an arm over the belly in addition to making sure the seatbelt is nice and tight! We went on both last month and waited about 40 minutes for Dumbo and almost no time at all for Golden Zephyr. I liked this ride quite a bit, though I admit a predisposition toward any Disneyland ride that doesn't come with a long line. It was smooth and relaxing, just soaring in circles over California Adventure in a silver sci-fi spaceship. My flight companion was my one-year-old Wade B., who clung to me the whole time but did not cry like he did on Dumbo. He babbled and pointed like he does at the ceiling fan at home. A rave review, actually. He loves that ceiling fan, which also goes around and around. I'd recommend Golden Zephyr, especially if there's no line and your kids are too small for the more thrilling attractions. We were on and off in less than ten minutes, and we all enjoyed our time in the sky. read more

Seriously one of my daughters favorite rides This is located in front of the paradise garden parks area which is a little bit after the little mermaid ride and right before the jumping jellyfish ride I adore the simplicity of this ride you are essentially loading onto a rocket shaped vehicle and being spinned circular motion the speed is not too high because my four-year-old loves this ride. It is definitely a nice view spinning in Pixar pier with views of Mickey's Pixar Pala round. The line which you were waiting in to get onto the ride does start on the ground goes up some steps and then ends up on the upper level where the ride is so if you do have a problem with stairs this ride might get a little tricky as far as loading goes Overall we definitely try to ride this at least once when we visit the parks because it is wonderful and it simple nature for my toddler children read more

I believe this was our second ride at California Adventure on Sunday, November 18th. We stuck to this area for a bit (I think this section is called Paridise Gardens Park?), so were able to ride most of the attractions before 12 noon. Since we had five kids with us, we were looking for rides they could go on. I can't remember if all five were able to ride, but I don't think there's a height requirement for Golden Zephyr, so I believe all five rode. I'm pretty sure the kids range from 2.5 to 7 years in age. (Can you tell I'm not a parent?) This is a very tame and chill ride. You're in a big rocket like ship that just goes around in a circle. Kinda like all the carnival swings, but since you're in a huge ship, it's less thrilling. You do get to enjoy views of the park though. And it's relaxing if you're tired from a long day at the park. Good for the littler kids since they can ride this. For me, this is a better end of the day ride. When I'm tired and just want to rest my feet. At the start of the day, I wanted something a little more fun. read more

While each rocket can hold up to four people, most times there's about 1-2 riders (or less) in each of them. And you just sit in the rocket as it goes slowly off the ground in a circle. In other words, think of this as a much slower version of the Astro Orbiter (or Rocket Jets) in Tomorrowland... if anything, you have a nice view of the park at least. While I appreciate the throwback to the Roaring Twenties, I wondered why and how Americans of the era were so easily entertained by such a ride back then. In today's era, the Golden Zephyr is only good for the kiddies and the resort completist - otherwise, you're not missing much if you skip this one. read more

We've renamed this ride "Space Logs". That's about as fun as it gets. It's a simple circle gliding ride, and if you're prone to motion sickness (raises hand), it might not be the best ride for you. It certainly isn't a good idea if you're full up from a greasy breakfast. /burp Again, it's a simple and quick ride. The best thing about it was the cast member working the mic that day. He was in full-on performer mode, cracking jokes and adding sound effects at every "launch". His humor was much appreciated. The Space Logs go maybe two or three laps around the base before you're brought back in for your "landing". It was more than enough for this chick, who had to close her eyes to ward off a bout of nausea thirty seconds in. For some reason, the Silly Symphony Swings didn't mess with my equilibrium the way the Space Logs did. Don't think we'll be coming back to this one. read more

Sometimes even if it's just barely breezy that day, the ride will not run. I think they should replace it with another ride that won't require 0 wind in order to be safe to run. read more

Fun ride but may be too scary for younger kids. My 2-year old daughter freaked out as the ride started to elevate. It is a ride where you sit in what look like a cross between spaceships and those aluminium motor homes from the 70's. It is in the Paradise Pier area of California Adventure...right by the area that you watch World of Color. It is a very refreshing ride on those hot summer days, but can make one quite dizzy. Many times I have just closed my eyes while spinning and took in the cool air. My daughter and I usually skip this attraction not only because it always seems to be out of commission once the winds at the park pick up, but also because my daughter is barely thirty-seven inches, so she can't really see out of the rocket ships, which takes away the main attraction of this ride. Located near Ariel's Undersea Adventure and Goofy's Sky School. It's a swinging ride that holds up to 4 in car that is held by wires and you swing around the center console. It's about a 2 minute ride and you go pretty high up, and it gets cold up there when the sun goes down. Our favorite part of the ride is the announcer with the British accent. This ride was quite boring, the most boring ride we rode all day. There was no line and I am not surprised but it can hold a good amount of people so regardless the line would go quickly. You can get in a car with a bunch of other people and then you lift off a bit and go around in a circle. There are no fun lights and no loud music to make it fun. The only thing that was good was that once we were up off of the ground I could get a goo video of the park. The Dumbo ride is more fun than this one because at least with the Dumbo ride you can make yourself go up and down. If you are interested in getting as many rides as possibly done then I would ride it but there are no thrills with this ride. read more

Even if it's not closed, the attraction itself isn't very amusing. Circles. You go in circles not too, too high off the ground. At least on Silly Symphony Swings, your arms and legs have freedom. Not here. Here... you sit. That's it. I said Luigi's Flying Tires was an attraction to go on once you've gone on everything else. I messed up. This is that attraction. The silver - not gold - zephyrs attract me, as someone who likes shiny things. Gleaming in the sunlight, reflecting the Paradise Pier lights at night, this ride has always caught my eye, but never seemed exciting enough to ride on. Today I decided to take a spin (literally; the suspended rockets spin in a circle) and found myself, as I'd suspected, kind of bored. This ride must have been wonderful on a boardwalk in the 20s or 30s - and the slang used in the recorded announcement hearkens to this era - but since then, so very many more innovative designs for rides have come along, making this one sadly plain in comparison; the Silly Symphony Swings are almost the same ride and are just as simple, although you can ride individually, legs dangling, making them more fun. Turning in a circle only has so much appeal, even though flying through the air is always a good time, and once the zephyrs get going, the centrifugal force pushes them outward/higher. I have no idea why a ride that wasn't going particularly fast made me dizzy for 20 minutes after it ended, but it did. I'm glad I went on, but don't see myself clamoring to ride again. read more

Sure, it's not the most exciting ride in the park, but it's a call back to the classic boardwalk rides of the past and a terrific addition to the Paradise Pier area of the park. I've never waited more than ten minutes for this ride, though I'd wait up to twenty. The ride itself is quick but fun as you're soaring above the pier and lagoon in your more-silver-than-golden zephyr. You have a pretty good vantage point from this attraction to scout out other parts of the park (not as good as the Silly Symphony Swings or Mickey's Fun Wheel). It's simple fun, which I suppose is why there are low ratings. I, for one, love this ride. Children and the young-at-heart will love this ride. read more
