Goldenberg roofing brooklyn completed a roof repair and maintenance on our commercial building in williamsburg brooklyn after dealing with leaks and ponding water issues for a long time. honestly we thought we were going to need a full tear off because thats what a few other roofing companies were telling us and the prices were crazy expensive. they took the time to inspect the entire flat roof and offer options. they explained that parts of the roof were still in decent shape and instead of ripping everything off they recommended a liquid roofing recovery system that could restore the roof and waterproof it properly while saving us thousands of dollars and extend the life of the roof. they repaired damaged areas, fixed flashing details, sealed problem spots and cleaned all the drains before applying the new coating system over the existing roof. what i appreciated most was that they were honest and practical. most contractors just wanted the biggest job possible but these guys looked for a solution that made sense for our building and budget. we still recieved a warranty on the roof system which made us feel alot more comfortable moving forward. read more

I went through two other contractors before landing on Goldenberg Roofing Brooklyn and the difference was night and day. I had a persistent water intrusion problems, moisture coming in through the roof near a skylight and also some issues with the rear facade where water was tracking down into the top floor ceiling. Both problems had been "fixed" before by other guys and kept coming back. I finally decided to call someone who specializes specifically in roofing and waterproofing rather than a general contractor situation. An experienced crew was onsite who actually took the time to trace where the water was originating. They didn't just patch the obvious spots they looked at the whole picture, including the flashing details, the membrane condition, and how water was moving across the roof surface during rain. They recommended a combination of targeted flashing membrane repair and a full waterproofing treatment along the problem areas. The proposal was detailed and the price was competitive. The work itself was clean and professional. The crew protected the work area, showed up consistently each day, and finished on schedule. More importantly, the results speak for themselves I've had zero water intrusion since the repair, through an entire Brooklyn winter and spring rain season. The photos below speak for themselves. I had my roof done in late 2016. Since then, Eden Goldenberg's team has attempted to fix the perpetual leaks in my skylights three times. I never needed a new roof...merely new flashing on my skylights. My daughter's ceiling has been repaired and painted twice before these photos were taken just today. Notice the sloppy tar work on the skylights. He stood me up on December 21st, 2017 to 'scrape off' the visible tar. Never showed and offered $1500 back to use someone else. It's all memorialized in text massages. I've yet to receive any restitution. His work and his word are worthless. Since posting this review this morning, I have gotten threatening text messages from Eden Goldenberg with respect to my livelihood. Beware of this businessman. In response to Eden Goldenberg's message below...the house was built in 2003. I don't consider that to be 'very old.' Update...Filed small claims court suit in April 2018. Eden Goldenberg never showed. I was awarded the total amount by the judge (4K+ court costs). We recently had to hire them to replace my roof that badly needed replacing of shingles and such since it an older house.  I have to only give them 4 stars because although once they came Eden was very thorough and the process was really relatively good from start to finish, and I am pleased. My complaint is that and I know it is really nit picking a little bit but I am extremely busy and have a very set schedule. They could not make the first two estimates that were set up to see the job. First time yes they called - second time I had to call them and they did apologize profusely stated a schedule mix up. Because I had to leave, we had to schedule a time that afternoon. As I stated overall yes pleased but I could not give a 5 star review for that reason. read more

I value my time just as the next guy so here goes my experience. We had a scheduled appt window between 10-12. 2 PM rolls around and I called to see if they were coming out as planned. Rep called me back, gave me some BS excuse, and we reconfirmed for the following day at 11 AM. It's now 2 1/2 hrs later again. Goldenberg has not even had the decency to either say we're running late or they have simply disregarded their appointment again. 2 days back to back Bear in mind, I also called the day prior on the original appointment, and the receptionist had confirmed that were on the calendar for the 10-12. ------- "We dont know who you are... we run a fully micro managed office here and every appointment is document in our office with a job number we don't have you in our records sir " Update post in response to Goldenbergs response suggesting this is a fake review. I might not have even rebutted your response, but the constant barrage of calls to my phone warranted it. You could have owned up this review, said we screwed up not once, but left you hanging twice. But instead, you call this a lie. Please don't pretend to the community that you don't know whom this review references. My phone started blowing up from the person who scheduled 2 dead appointments back to back. I have both the screen shots of the text messages sent from 2 parties who had texted me. There was no need to constantly call my phone over a span of 4 hrs if you did not believe this was a legitimate review. You messed up on the 1st scheduled appointment. Not even a phone call. I had to call you 2 hrs past the latest time you were to arrive. No worries. Stuff happens. We rescheduled for the following day. A opportunity for redemption perhaps ? We woke up on a Saturday to water leaking from the ceiling into our son's bedroom. I called these guys at 9:00AM on their 24/7 line and they were at our Coop in Park Slope before noon. The roof had some ice dams that were backing up water and we had a few small leaks in the front and rear of the building. Eden helped me clear the ice dams, shovel off the excess snow that was causing a problem and inspected the rest of the roof. (Al while getting soaking wet in the process) It took ~45 mins to 1 hour to get it all done, and here's the kicker, he didn't charge me anything for his time! I've never received that type of service for any work on our building or unit since we've been here. I was happily shocked. Goldenberg is going to provide us an estimate for the work to fix the leaks, but Eden's help on a Saturday stopped the immediate problem we had and I couldn't have been more thankful. My spouse and I weighed out the pros and cons and decided to take the golden pledge with the manufacturer warranty. I really found a trustworthy construction company when I found Eden and Goldenberg Builders. Messaged them on Yelp! Sunday morning. Senior Executive of the company called me (even though, he was out of country) to let me know one of his local teammates would be out to my site in two hours to give me a quote. They got someone out right away. Diagnosis of scope of work was on target and pricing was very competitive. They said they would have some come next day 8:30 AM and sure enough someone was there next day 8:30 AM. The job was for a new roof and it was going to rain in two days. Goldenberg Team came through on time and budget and I have no leaks since job completion about 3 weeks ago. [Sorry for late Yelp! review, Eden but I wanted to make sure! I had a new roof installed in 2016, my experience was and still is negative. Justin was the project manager and even after speaking to Eden, my problems have not been resolved nor my money for work that wasn't done refunded. They sent Justin to my home to make a deal. His price was not competitive (I later found out) it was grossly high and at the end of the job, he added $2,500 more for a beam that I never saw installed and since I am on a fixed income he initially promised there would be "NO" additional charges. Goldenberg was not forthcoming with a written proposal. When I finally received one after making several calls to Justin, the workers were late on their first day. No phone calls. I called Justin and he wasn't helpful. I requested a contract/proposal. I further requested their liability insurance in writing; and the workers' schedule; none of which was given without some angst! When I called the office to discuss the cracks in my foundation after the work started, the light bulb exploding from the pounding, the lack of a beam, and the ceiling dropping down, Sophie was very rude and chalked it up to "...it's an old house..." They used heavy hammering tools to remove the initial roof and the pounding cracked the foundation of my home in various places, made the ceiling in my laundry room drop down; damaged and caused another light fixture to pop out of its socket and other things. When the first real rain arrived, there was a leak. Eden addressed that, made a few promises but to date hasn't followed up. I do not recommend Goldenberg for anything! UPDATE: Today, Eden showed up to my house two hours late and several weeks late (without workers, and without my overpayment of $2,200). Instead, he came with an extremely hostile, rude, impatient, guy who told me, "...you're wasting my time...!" He then walked away, angrily and said, "So sue me." Trying to work with GOLDENBERG NYC (Construction) has been a NIGHTMARE!!!! They send out a man, Justin, who sets you up with promises that are never realized. You have to beg for a contract and wait to receive one, beg for their insurance, then are charged twice as much as the normal rate for roofing. The workers don't have a start, and stop time. Justin gets impatient over the phone when you ask about the workers' delay. Their favorite excuse is, "...we got pulled over by the cops..", or "...there was a lot of traffic..." The lack of professionalism or cooperation is inundating. Even the office workers, (Sophie) are hostile and argumentative. I had to call one day because they were closing up my smaller roof without first putting down insulation. It was half way closed so I called the office and had to get very firm about their workmanship. The next day the insulation came in. Another time I spoke to Sophie about their method of using a heavy steel long handled sledge hammer to rip up the roof. This method caused structural damage to my house, blew out a light fixture, and caused my ceiling to drop causing two split seams in the drywall and the nails holding up the ceiling popping through . Sophie dismissed me by saying, "...It's an old house, etc." P.S. ---My skylights are filthy from the debris they left behind, my daughter's gown was damaged from the leak and My roof still leaks!!! My ceiling is now damaged from the water. My smaller ceiling is threatening to collapse from the roof pounding. After Eden came to see the damages, he made a lot of promises verbally to make the repairs and refund my overpayment within two weeks, two weeks ended on April 13, 2017 and nothing has been done. He and his cohort came and became hostile, disrespectful and left without doing the work or paying me my overpayment. This has been going on since 2016. NOT RELIABLE PEOPLE!!! read more

I never thought I could be this to see it rain! I own a bunch of coffee shops in NY and one of them has had a terribly leaky roof for a little bit. We've brought in several different roofers and the problem persisted. We reached out to Eden and Ari over at Goldenberg and they were out at the site within 24 for an estimate, set up an appt for a couple days later and.... problem solved. I have an apartment in Manhattan that had a major problem with a leak in the ceiling that was coming from my roof deck. I had it fixed multiple times by different people and the problem was still not solved. Obviously this problem stressed me out and even more so because the unit was being rented out. After calling many people that were top rated on Angie's List (with either no answers or an operator with major attitude) and striking out, I decided to chance it and just call whoever popped up on google. Luckily Goldenberg was one of the first ones to pop up on my search and they got back to me immediately. The company is super friendly and easy to work with. They fixed what they thought the problem was and now it's just a waiting game to see if it really has been solved. Price wise, it was a little more than I wanted to pay but because I have already spent so much money on this problem I figured I might as well go all in. Thankfully they also offer a 8 year warranty on the work (or 7 year, can't remember the details at the moment) so the price evens out that way. Will definitely call these guys again! Remember the old routine on the radio program 'Car Talk' about contractors who take things apart and then disappear into a 'parallel universe,' never to be seen again? The routine could have been about Goldenberg Roofing. They took apart our roof deck to repair the roof, disappeared when the roof still leaked, and re-appeared only when we posted bad Yelp reviews. After much haranguing, they finally fixed the leaks. Now they have disappeared and refuse to re-assemble the deck. The owner either has the most tragic personal life on the planet, with 'emergencies' getting in the way of every appointment, or he has a problem with showing up for work. Awful. read more

Beware I heard that Eden pays people to have good reviews including he makes his employees post good reviews - but if you start digging you will see otherwise. The first thing I want to say is my husband gave Eden an extra check by accident and Eden cashed both - instead of giving us the money right back - he said he didn't have the money to give back. We have been extremely patient. Eden still owes us $3,000 and it has been over a year ago now Installments stopped in September. If that not what you call unethical I don't know what is. We had our roof fixed over a year ago. We still have not received a proper warranty on the roof. We also still have the original issue which was a leak - he sold us a roof and really all that we needed to be done was to tar the chimney that was causing the leak. While fixing the roof they didn't pay for a proper garbage disposal they just throw everything over the roof into the front yard causing the whole front patio's paint to chip so we had to pay to get that fixed. Lastly Eden's workers called us several times after the fact to ask us about payment - it seems Eden never paid the workers who did the actual work. We put this review up before but Eden said if we didn't take it down we would never see our money he owed us but now I would really like our 3K back - we also would like a warranty on the roof he sold us since we still do not have that.
