I would like to give a better review, as my kids enjoyed the food, and it wasn't really that bad. However, when I order a Dragon Roll I expect there to be eel on the roll, not on half of it. Conveniently they didn't charge me for half the food. Happened a couple times. I guess it don't really matter as I probably won't be returning. I won't say never, but I've never had a sushi place only put eel on half the roll Overall, I'd say eat there if you there isn't another subpar sushi place in the AV to eat, or that's open. Let's start with the positive - the Lemon Tree roll was fresh and delicious. Unfortunately, the service was slow - my husband and I both ordered a roll and his came out at the very end when we were about to pay the bill. We ordered shishito peppers (we have had them other places before) and it was so spicy that I think there is a permanent hole in my stomach. I've been to Sato at least 4x a month every year. Definitely a restaurant worth attending. Never had I had an issue with my food at all, our families come to eat here all the time. Our orders always right. Yes there are some bumps when new hires work their shifts, or etc, but they are always willing to resolve the issue, we generally have the benefit of the doubt. I have praised Sato Sushi for years. My husband picked up an order today that was terrible. We ordered two dinners, upgraded to fried rice and ordered two hand rolled salmon skin rolls with added avocado. Total came to $88 plus tip. We were shocked. When we sat down at home to eat, they didnt put the added avocado that we were charged for in the hand rolls. I had one long blonde hair in my sashimi and three small hairs in my fried rice and baked mussels. These are meals that we order all of the time. The portion of the yellow fin sashimi was so much smaller that the slices cucumbers that garnished them with were bigger. Im sad by this order. I will be going to Kaze from now on. $88?! I walked in and everyone was very nice. I got a rainbow roll and a chicken teriyaki bowl to go. The chicken teriyaki bowl was the best I've had! I love all the veggies they put in it! I havent had the best experiences when it comes to sushi spots out in Palmdale / Lancaster but Sato Sushi is quite alright. Dont go looking for unique dishes here but the normal fare is decent. I grabbed an early dinner on Saturday before a show. This spot had a good amount of seating at 5pm. Service was friendly and attentive. The iced green tea was quite refreshing. Free refills. I ordered Heart Attack, Yellowtail collar, Super Man Burrito, Monkey Brain, Edamame, Sato Special roll and baked green mussels. First off the portions of the Heart attack, Monkey brain are larger than normal. Good but not great but far from bad. Sato Special roll was good. And is a great option for a no rice roll. Not really sauced up. The fish wasnt fishy at all. They sprinkle a hint of Tajin around which goes well. The superman burrito was good. Although I wish they would give you a dipping sauce side of the spicy mayo instead of a couple of lines. No worries though. Solid choice for no rice option and quite tasty. The yellowtail collar was good as well. Probably more on the overcooked side but still good. Seasoning was a basic salt n pepper. Dipping sauce is a chili oil + ponzu. THe baked green mussels were solid too. Large in size. Good may and green onion toppings. What I liked about this is that it didnt have excessive water from baking which can make it messy like other places do. Everything was decent at Sato. Glad I choose here. read more

Food is great but the service was absolutely wonderful. The sushi chefs Alex and Jason, are super friendly with a very welcoming vibe. They walked us through trying new things that we've never had before. Our server Wendy was super attentive to us and made sure that we had everything that we needed. If I can give a 0 stars I would. They say they are opened until 10:30 so we waited until the Dodger championship ended and headed over there to eat. The man at the door said we're only taking to go orders and we arrived at 9:40 I said your restaurant online said you were open until 10:30 and he said yeah but we're slow and I said ok and left. Tried this place for the first time today. There was a really strong, indescribable smell inside, but I still decided to give it a try. The menu has a large selection, but nothing really stood out to me, so it took me a while to decide. I ordered the Ron Burgundy Roll, edamame, and shrimp tempura. The food was pretty mediocre. The flavors in the roll didn't mesh well together--maybe it was the spicy mayo, I couldn't pinpoint exactly what threw it off. To start off positive the food was great. Fresh fish, good flavors. I placed a phone order at 6:25pm that consisted of 9 rolls and 1 entree ( I understand it's a big order) the lady on the phone said give us 45 mins.. 45 was perfect timing to get there from the other side of town... I got to the restaurant at 7:30 thinking it had been ready for at least 10 minutes.. I go to the front register, paid the total and was advised it was still not ready.. ok so I wait a few minutes.. (mind you they said 45 mins at 6:25) now it's 7:40 and it's still not ready.. 7:45 they said they are boxing it all up.. 7:55 still nothing.. then I see them put the bags on the bar ( they all seen me I never left) and I ask if they were for me and they talk to each other and then they give me my food. I left the restaurant at 8:00pm.. they did not offer a discount or any type of compensation for the excessive amount of time I waited.. the service sucks. They did apologize, but waiting almost 2 hours for an order they said would take 45 mins? Not sure we'll come back. read more

Don't go here if you're trying to go get your food right and on time and you want it to be professional. This place is a joke. Not only did I wait an hour when they told me to wait 30 minutes for my food, the cooks preparing my food are just messing around not paying attention to what they are doing. They don't take anything serious. On top of that, when I finally got "my food" the hostess gave me somebody else's food and she didn't even notice. I went back and she clearly didn't notice me standing in line until I said hey you keep calling my phone. I brought back the food. It's until then that she noticed me. Food was very average. Our party of 10 adults and 5 children were not impressed with the food compared to other sushi restaurants we have been to. I got the baked salmon roll and the BSCR. The baked salmon roll had too much cream cheese which overpowered the other flavors (I've never had cream cheese in my baked salmon rolls before). The BSCR was not good. My husband tried it too and he is a sushi fanatic (he will eat pretty much any sushi) but he didn't even want it. We did take out so can't speak to the ambience. But the service was good-- they were helpful and willing to accommodate our different needs and big party. But food wasn't worth it-- take your business somewhere else & eat something yummier. read more

Drove 40+ mins for terrible sushi and service. Walked in at 7:50 on a Saturday, ordered at around 8:05 and didn't see or appetizer till around 8:40 all the while watching a table that had showed up after us, order after us, and with more people get their food, eat, and pay and leave all in the time it took to get our first sushi roll. We ordered 3 deep fried rolls and 1 normal roll....... The deep fried rolls were colder than the normal roll. Also we were missing a role. The rolls didn't taste like anything. I thought I had caught covid and my tastebuds were shot. Our waitress was extremely rude. She never checked in on us even when we were waiting 30+ mins for the appetizer. It was like she was avoiding us the whole time we were there. And when we finally got the chance to ask her about our missing roll she walked away and never came back to tell us what was going on with it. After waiting another 10 mins we just decided it wasn't worth it anymore and got up to pay. My first time here and yes, as the previous comments indicated, the service was on the decline. I felt bad because there was only one waitress for the entire restaurant. Even though there were only a small amount of tables, she appeared to be somewhat overwhelmed. However, she was sweet and patient when taking our orders. I just recovered from stomach surgery, so my intake of protein has to be pretty significant for one meal. I was very pleased with their sashimi selections and prices. The worst rolls I've ever had. Don't like to leave bad reviews, but wished we could have sent it all back. Waitress seemed lost and overwhelmed in an almost empty restaurant. Another waitress picked up her slack. The garlic edamame, crunch salad and hand rolls were luckily good. The Ron Burgundy, snow roll, baked spicy salmon and fried spicy tuna were all off on flavor and freshness. The avocado was old and brown. For my husband to leave food on table says a lot. I've been coming here since I've moved back and the food is top notch. My favorite Sushi place around. The service is always excellent especially by the waitresses. After coming here often, I noticed two incidents where a manager or chef is yelling at his girls. (I am not sure who he is or his role at the restaurant. )Twice, in front of people trying to enjoy their meals. I noticed one is no longer there and she was very pleasant. The second time, the poor girl was new, he kept giving her a hard time. The whole restaurant can hear him banging his hand down and yelling at her, saying that she should just know this stuff. I was appalled by this, anyone in management knows you pull someone aside and handle it accordingly not banging your hands in frustration for everyone to see. Poor girl looked like she wanted to cry but still had a job to do and that she did. As a customer trying to enjoy their food with someone else we couldn't help but feel frustrated. The other staff members are very friendly, food is terrific but this....isn't okay and definitely plays a part of me not wanting to go back if I'm trying to enjoy a meal. read more

I used to love this place but I've lost count on how many times I've showed up and they say they are closing early due to it being slow. Keep in mind the time is an hour before closing. It is such a shame that this business does not care about their customers. Don't advertise that you are open to a certain until a certain time when you don't mean it. I understand the shortage with staff. Food is great, so I don't mind waiting. My problem is the new waitress. Blonde girl that just started a few months ago. She has zero customer service skills. She seems like an efficient worker, but it looks like she's always bothered, in a bad mood and is rude & has attitude the moment you walk in. Zero communication skills. I hope the owners know that they are losing several customers because of this waitress. The ones I've spoken to.
