Visited Goldie's in Fishtown for a meal of falafel wrap and black sesame shake. The place has a good amount of seating. The staff brought out a ton of falafel wraps and black sesame shakes to broadcast Joe Yonan's new book. The falafels were very fresh. I really liked how soft the pita was. I like how big the falafel balls were as well and how well it went with the tehina sauce. There were 3 different tehina sauces that I really liked. There was a harissa sauce that was amazing (highly recommend). This sauce was full of flavor. The other was the amba tehina which was a tangy mango pickle edge to the tehina. It tasted slightly like an Indian condiment. The schug tehina was too spicy. It was basically just green spicy pepper. The black sesame shake was topped with this amazing crunch. My friend and I think it was just oven roasted tehina. The shake was average. I don't really care for the idea of tehina in my shake and if I really wanted to indulge in a shake, I would have just gotten a fatty, sugary fruit tasting shake. read more

Honestly I just came for a bag of balls and to try the famous tahini smoothie. I was not disappointed!! It was a bit expensive so definitely a treat more than a usual haunt. But I'm still thinking about how to make it myself! Also special shoutout to the cashier, she was so patient and funny with us. Maybe the staff was generally better or it could have been due to Mike Solomonov visiting. I have been wanting to visit this restaurant for quite awhile now.The space is immaculate clean first and foremost. The young lady at the counter was very nice and explained the menu.I will honestly say,not only were the ingredients the freshest but delicious. Pitas,were perfection!!. Loved Goldie back in the day, at the 2nd floor location on Samson Street. Yesterday got take out from the Franklin's Table location on Walnut St. Very, very disappointing! The large empty space with multiple vendors was empty and depressing, would never eat there. Ordered the falafel sandwich, fries, 6 falafel balls, 3 extra different sauces, pita tops. Everything was subpar, not even close to the food served at original location. Fries extremely over salted and tasted of much re-used oil, falafel half the size it used to be, also over salted. Sauces not labeled, pita tops left out. Overall, below mediocre fast food chain taste and vibe. What happened Michael? Sadly, will never eat from there again. read more

Final stop of the vegan friend's food tour of Philly, and this is a high note to end on. I scored a reservation to Zahav when visiting a few years ago and it was amazing, but this casual outpost in Michael Solomonov's food family is more of my everyday jam. This vegan kosher Israeli falafel/hummus joint has a simple menu of good things well done. Fluffy fresh pitas, creamy hummus and crispy falafels are complimented by shawarma spiced fries, perfectly cooked. The only thing I didn't try was the Tehina shakes, but they looked thick and creamy. Counter service is fast and friendly, and the dining area has communal tables in a spacious airy space. Looking forward to more Philly food trips to try this restaurant group's other offerings. read more

We had a reservation at nearby Pizzeria Beddia so we decided not to spoil our appetites with food (and we also didn't want to annoy the employees who were likely looking forward to closing for the night) so I placed my order. The shake came out quickly and we took the shake to go. I wasn't sure what to expect -- a friend of mine insisted I try it so I promised I would. And I'm so glad I did! Grateful that this is in the neighborhood, after a failed attempt to go someplace in center city, I swung by this location because it's close to the Berks stop of the El. I preordered my food and it was ready to pick up early. I got a mint chocolate milkshake, a falafel salad, and fries. I knew the food was good but it was so refreshing to have a hearty salad after walking around downtown. The falafel was not as hot I liked but it was delicious. They add tons of ingredients like seeds and beets to make this salad truly a full meal. I would definitely get this again. Since moving to fishtown, I've loved all the additions to the dining scene! Was so excited to try Goldie as I am a die hard chickpea/falafel fan or middle eastern food in general. The indoors had a very rustic/industrial vibe which I loved and the sitting area is very spacious and wide. Plenty of space to sit or stand to eat while being socially distant. The falafel sandwich was a 10/10! The outside was dark and crispy which is what I always look for. The inside of the falafel was a bright green and was moist with good flavor. There was a lot of cucumbers and tomatoes which added a good crunch. I think the harissa sauce I picked was okay but it went well with the sandwich. But the pita bread was so soft and chewy! Highly recommend getting the combo with shawarma fries...it's got a very mild kick that settles in slowly as you eat it. Crispy and good size. Highly recommend when you're on the go! While in town visiting my sister, this is the first food spot she brought us to. I was starving coming off of my flight and this meal more than hit the spot! We ordered ahead so that it would be ready when we arrived. The falafel sandwich with the harissa sauce was so delish! A bit messy, but loaded with all the good stuff! Their falafel is definitely better than many of the falafel places I have tried before. The fries with the shawarma spice are a must especially with their amazing ketchup!! I've been to the Goldie in University City and this one is much quieter, I was able to do some work on my laptop during lunch. There's tons of table space and bar seats. If you're trying to charge your computer I only saw 2 outlets. Anyway- the food was good but just not mind blowing today. Falafel was excellent, but the salad was bland and barely had any dressing. I also tried the shawarma fries which are a lightly spiced turmeric flavor, but they could've been better if they were served hot. Would go again, hopefully the quality of the food catches up to the quality of the staff who were all super nice! read more

As a Jewish guy and avid lover of Good Falafel, I am sorry to have to write this review. So this is the Falafel / Hummus Platter. I was impressed when i read the platter included 6 falafel balls. Let me say that the size of the falafel are a bit deceiving. believe it or not. They're not even the size of a golf ball they're like half the size. Sort of remind me of the little meatballs you get with your SpaghettiOs. Not to mention they were far from fresh made to order, I'll tell you that much. Dark colored inside, not a bright green whatsoever. Seemed pre-made or batch made and held. I would've also thought that with a falafel and hummus platter I would've received some type of vegetables to accompany the platter and the pita..... FAIL. Pita was quite fresh though. Had the coffee shake and it was unique. Lemonada was enjoyable. Sauces could have been explained a bit better. I took two buses and one train to your Fishtown location so that I could take the famous goldie hummus and sauces home to my family. I'll take some fault for arriving so close to 7 p.m. But I thought they would accommodate my tiny order, as it was just preped items. When I walked in at 6:59, I was quickly rushed out, and told they were "all out," it was disappointing to say the least. I want to support small businesses, but I will go to the grocery store next time. read more

Their falafel pieces are EXTREMELY small. I don't know if that's a typical Israeli size but the falafel pieces I'm used to from Arabic places are more than twice the size of these. The food was ok. I think the food needs a little more flavor. Like more spices. If you've never had falafel before I'm sure it'll be fine but for people who eat this regularly it will leave you a little disappointed. We ordered dinner just before 5 PM on a Saturday for delivery. I've been on the hunt for a favorite falafel spot since moving to Philly (Banzo in Madison, WI sets a high standard!). We each got a falafel wrap, mine with extra sauce, shared shawarma fries, and I got an OG shake and wife got the Tumeric-Lime soda. Pricing was very reasonable for the amount of food/portion sizes. The falafel wraps were good - but due to delivery issues, the pita bread had gotten pretty soggy and neither of us finished the bread. However, based on the non-soggy bits, I'd still rate this wrap super high on filling and flavor. The tahini shake was REALLY good - creamy and not too sweet. The shawarma fries definitely had some spice to them! Pro-tip: fries getting a bit cold? Pop them in the air-fryer for 6 minutes and they are like new! Goldie uses a third-party courier for delivery, and it took awhile for a courier to accept our delivery order. Someone from the store called me about 20 minutes before our expected delivery time to let me know they were still waiting on a courier, but they hoped to still get it to me on time. She also told me that if it was late, they'd refund my food cost of the order. 25 mintues past delivery time, we were still waiting for food, but a quick call let me know it had just been picked up and was on the way. I also saw they had actually refunded the food cost as they said they had. I understand courier issues are beyond their control, so for them to refund the food was unexpected and an incredibly nice gesture. Based on the food AND the exceptional customer service, I know we'll be back before long. read more

They offer both sandwiches and salads. very clean establishment with super nice folks working there. all the food is very fresh. falafel is on the small side and not my style. for me it's too soft possibly the result of over whipping the chickpeas. i like the more firm with crispy bits style like i have had in Israel and other places around town. the pitas are some of the best i have had in Philly. very fluffy and fresh baked. i would definitely be back due to the pita itself but wish the actual falafel was more my style. read more

This location was a major letdown. Was SO looking forward to going and it was such a disappointment. Had the salad, which was basically a sad-looking, half-full bowl of lettuce and cabbage and 6 tiny, over-fried, over-breaded falafel balls. Nothing more to it. Literally. When it came out, I was actually embarrassed in front of my out-of-town guests. I asked for a side of tomatoes to beef it up a bit, and they cashier obliged, fortunately. Just strange, considering how well CookN'Solo usually does this type of thing. That said, I have been to the Rittenhouse location -- salads are big and plentiful there, so I'm not sure what is up with Fishtown. On top of it all, the staff was kinda 'tudy.
