    Goldie's falafel sandwich
    Dinesh A.

Restaurant was busy yet clean. We came for the Joe Yonan book release. Unlike the Fairmount location, this Goldie served great food. Maybe the staff was generally better or it could have been due to Mike Solomonov visiting. The Black Sesame Tehina Shake, a creation designed by Joe, was delicious with its light and slightly sweet flavors. Goldie served that falafel sandwich. It was savory, especially combined with their sauces. Would come back again for both!

I have been wanting to visit this restaurant for quite awhile now.The space is immaculate clean first and foremost. The young lady at the counter was very nice and explained the menu.I will honestly say,not only were the ingredients the freshest but delicious. Pitas, were perfection!!. This is a must try if you love this menu or trying first time.

In town for fishtown festival and wanted to try Goldie. Cashier was helpful, asked about Tahine recommendations and ended up going with Turkish coffee. Didn't taste like Turkish coffee at all but was delicious; tasted like straight peanut butter. She also talked about my 100 gecs sweatshirt which was neat. Falafel salad was great.

Final stop of the vegan friend's food tour of Philly, and this is a high note to end on. I scored a reservation to Zahav when visiting a few years ago and it was amazing, but this casual outpost in Michael Solomonov's food family is more of my everyday jam. This vegan kosher Israeli falafel/hummus joint has a simple menu of good things well done. Fluffy fresh pitas, creamy hummus and crispy falafels are complimented by shawarma spiced fries, perfectly cooked. The only thing I didn't try was the Tehina shakes, but they looked thick and creamy. Counter service is fast and friendly, and the dining area has communal tables in a spacious airy space. Looking forward to more Philly food trips to try this restaurant group's other offerings.

Reliably good lunch spot! My friend ordered a falafel sandwich and I ordered the shawarma loaded fries! Both were made to order and turned out great. Recommend this place for a quick bite. Interior is very cute and spacious!

    Tehina shake -- yum!

My partner, friend, and I popped in a little before Goldie closed one day. We were on a mission: a tehina shake. We had a reservation at nearby Pizzeria Beddia so we decided not to spoil our appetites with food (and we also didn't want to annoy the employees who were likely looking forward to closing for the night) so I placed my order. The shake came out quickly and we took the shake to go. I wasn't sure what to expect -- a friend of mine insisted I try it so I promised I would. And I'm so glad I did! It was great and I would happily return for another one. Goldie is definitely not Zahav, but Chef Solomonov is absolutely doing something right!

Grateful that this is in the neighborhood, after a failed attempt to go someplace in center city, I swung by this location because it's close to the Berks stop of the El. I preordered my food and it was ready to pick up early. I got a mint chocolate milkshake, a falafel salad, and fries. I knew the food was good but it was so refreshing to have a hearty salad after walking around downtown. The falafel was not as hot I liked but it was delicious. They add tons of ingredients like seeds and beets to make this salad truly a full meal. I would definitely get this again. The milkshake was delicious as always and I am always shocked that it is vegan, you could never tell.

Super excited for Goldie in the hood. In love with the Falafel sandwich, shawrma fries and Tehina shakes. They do have nice community style seating space. And if I am not mistaken, I did spot Mike Solomonov at the location...missed the opportunity to say hi while I was ordering food but hey Mike welcome to the hood

Since moving to fishtown, I've loved all the additions to the dining scene! Was so excited to try Goldie as I am a die hard chickpea/falafel fan or middle eastern food in general. The indoors had a very rustic/industrial vibe which I loved and the sitting area is very spacious and wide. Plenty of space to sit or stand to eat while being socially distant. The falafel sandwich was a 10/10! The outside was dark and crispy which is what I always look for. The inside of the falafel was a bright green and was moist with good flavor. There was a lot of cucumbers and tomatoes which added a good crunch. I think the harissa sauce I picked was okay but it went well with the sandwich. But the pita bread was so soft and chewy! Highly recommend getting the combo with shawarma fries...it's got a very mild kick that settles in slowly as you eat it. Crispy and good size. Highly recommend when you're on the go! The service was quick!

I've been to the Goldie in University City and this one is much quieter, I was able to do some work on my laptop during lunch. There's tons of table space and bar seats. If you're trying to charge your computer I only saw 2 outlets. Anyway- the food was good but just not mind blowing today. Falafel was excellent, but the salad was bland and barely had any dressing. I also tried the shawarma fries which are a lightly spiced turmeric flavor, but they could've been better if they were served hot. Would go again, hopefully the quality of the food catches up to the quality of the staff who were all super nice!

Came here during my lunch break with a coworker. The space is decorated so cute and the food was ready in minutes. I didn't know what to expect from the Tehina shake, but it was pleasantly delicious.

    Falafel & Hummus Platter

As a Jewish guy and avid lover of Good Falafel, I am sorry to have to write this review. So this is the Falafel / Hummus Platter. I was impressed when i read the platter included 6 falafel balls. Let me say that the size of the falafel are a bit deceiving. believe it or not. They're not even the size of a golf ball they're like half the size. Sort of remind me of the little meatballs you get with your SpaghettiOs. Not to mention they were far from fresh made to order, I'll tell you that much. Dark colored inside, not a bright green whatsoever. Seemed pre-made or batch made and held. I would've also thought that with a falafel and hummus platter I would've received some type of vegetables to accompany the platter and the pita..... FAIL. Pita was quite fresh though. Had the coffee shake and it was unique. Lemonada was enjoyable. Sauces could have been explained a bit better. So after food costs, taxes, tip and fees, $45 for this with two beverages and an extra pita..... not cool whatsoever Michael S.... Sorry to say, you have let me down.

Merion Park Labneh: this labneh is thicker than other restaurants which I really like actually. the photo I insert may be deceiving, as it looks chunky. rest assured, it's absolutely smooth, just a thicker consistency than most labnehs. the spices on it are so so good. I think this is a must get along with a hummus. me and my sister are vegetarian, we share a hummus and a labneh and are decently full after those. we also snack on some small plates for the table (fries and olives) and leave full. Israeli Pickles and Olives: comes with two ramekins filled with varying sized pickles, not pitted olives, and some tiny yellow peppers I *think* are either pepper-chinos or at the very least taste similar. they also come with a small ramekin for the olive pits. The yellow peppers are very spicy, but I loved them. the olives are green, and i'd consider them friendly olives for those who are particular around olives. pickles were great as expected. French Fries: easy order for the table. portion is large and I think $8 is a steal for the quantity and quality. comes with a yummy ketchup my sister loves (she is considered a ketchup hater). COCONUT MALABI: I did not know what to expect. and honestly, first bite I was a bit confused by the texture, but by the end, I really liked it. its a thick pudding consistency, smooth, has a decent bounce to it, not too sweet at all, subtle coconut flavor. has a strawberry (I think) jam situation on top with some sort of crunchy thing. will be getting that again for sure. we had three people split this and it was enough. would consider getting two for four people though. service was quick, efficient, and kind. love the atmosphere. it has a sort of lively fun vibe to it. also we were in and out pretty quick without being rushed at all which is nice. just efficient. Also, I haven't tried them yet but they have a good little mocktail menu for those who don't drink!

If you haven't been since the renovation, be prepared for an entirely new, full-service restaurant space complete with a revamped menu, including entree plates, hummus, sandwiches, and desserts. The standout of the restaurant is still the hummus with jammy egg, but dishes like the sabich are very tasty (if not a little salty) in their own right. The atmosphere is fun and trendy while still being casual, and the cocktails are a fun pairing with the food. Overall, 4.5/5.

To that end, we never had problems with their food. We typically get their Make your own Bowl option. Their Slaw and Potatoes are very distinctive and delicious as base options. We appreciate how their Yeeroh Meats are actually shaved fresh and not some pre-packaged meat or something that isn't shaved, which kind of runs counter to the point. Their hummus is solid as well. The only thing to note is almost all of the veggie toppings aren't necessarily always prepared -- the tomatoes for example are straight up grape tomatoes they throw onto your bowl which could overpower the meal. Still would recommend them as a solid restaurant in the area. What you didn't come here for: - Water: There's no free water option (or at least if there was, I'd be suspect given Philly's reputation) - Restrooms: There is a single occupancy restroom in the rear but... - Accessibility: While it's wheelchair accessible, the path to the restroom gets tight since that hall is where they store their high chairs for kids as well. It could be workable but you'd need some help from someone to move things around for you. - Seating: There is limited seating up front but it's often enough. - Will it fill you up? Yes the serving sides are generous.

I ended up creating my own bowl. I selected the steak, rice, cucumbers, tomatoes and a hummus. At Naf Naf Grill, it's all about fresh ingredients, flavor and the ability to create your meal as you would like. I ran into one minor issue when I went in and there was no pita available for purchase that night. They actually gave me extra hummus which I thought was very nice! I didn't like the steak as much as I had expected. The steak was a little chewy and difficult to eat. However, the fresh vegetables and the hummus were very good and helped make up for the steak! Overall, the experience was good enough for a quick grab and go type of dinner. Since it was convenient and they were open at the time I arrived, I would give them another chance if in the area again. The employees were helpful! The ingredients seemed to be good quality and Naf Naf was one of the only places in the area at the time open at night, so that made the restaurant a pretty good bet for a quick bite after a long day of work. There are probably some adjustments I can make to my protein selection next time, or some new options I can look into trying from the menu before I go back. But based on this experience, I would likely visit again if I'm in the area!
