Work lunch that now received a 5 stars because everything was delicious! I stayed away from the chicken kebab since it was very dry last time. Ordered the shrimp salad this time and it tasted great! Perfect amount of shrimp which were grilled to perfection. A very filling salad! Ordered the same app where it came with a little bit of everything and just like last time it did not disappoint at all. The pita bread is extremely soft and the baba ghanoush was outstanding.

Kofta Kebab Entree. Kinda tough and dry but amazing char and flavor!

Walked in off the street and asked for a table which I think they were surprised by lol, this place feels more like a door dashing type operation. We just landed in Philly and headed straight to Angelo's and they were sold out. We were starving. We decided we needed some authentic middle eastern food in our lives so here we are. The owner was a charming funny and welcoming man who was happy to serve us and give us some insider details about where to go in Philly. The Falafel appetizer was yummy, fresh, authentic and a lil greasy just for me. But would still order again. My merguez wrap was actually surprisingly good. I didn't expect to enjoy it that much. It was pleasantly spicy and loved the contrasting textures of the French fries inside. The Kofta kebab platter was kinda dry and tough but the char and flavor made up for it. I would definitely eat here again if I lived in Philly!

We ordered pickup and weren't particularly impressed. Let me start with the good. We got the Grilled Chicken Kebabs Tunisian Couscous and Beef Kabob. The couscous was delicious. The hummus has a bit of a smokey flavor to it which was fun. The tiny bit of side salad had nice dressing. To quote my husband "if I wanted overcooked meat, I could have made it myself". So there's the bad. The ordering experience wasn't great. Everything went through and I scheduled a time for pickup, as far as I know that all went great, but besides the initial confirmation of receipt of my order, there was no communication about the food being ready or picked up or anything. I don't know that it had anything to do with the restaurant, so I'm not including it as a reason for my rating, but something to note if you order pickup too.

The lamb and couscous bowl has flavors that thrill, portions that kill. Comes topped with a pepper, plenty of veggies and tender, and juicy lamb. Quick delivery! Could either be one heavy dinner or two lighters munches.

Great little Tunisian resto on the border of Philadelphia's Little Italy. Mediterranean cuisine is featured with a Tunisian spin on many dishes from that region. The service was very friendly, efficient; the food coming reasonable quickly when you consider some items are made from scratch. Give this place a try as it is interesting when you compare similar dishes from other countries you may have had.

    Schawarma platter

Ordered for delivery through Grubhub. Food arrived on time. The delivery person was courteous and wearing a mask. Chicken schawarma platter comes with a small salad and hummus in a comparted container so they don't mix together. Rice and chicken were a little bit dry and needs more flavor. Hummus is decent. Baba ganoush doesn't have the signature smoky flavor, it has strong garlic flavor. It's the winning dish in my order. Foul mudama has weird taste. I didn't enjoy it at all . Baklava is small and the pastry isn't crispy, I don't think it's fresh

I order delivery from here often. My favorite is the Tunisian grilled chicken kabob with couscous, but I also like their falafel and hummus. Occasionally, I treat myself to the baklava (on cheat days). Not a big fan of their green salads, but everything else I've ordered has been pretty good. Again, I order from here often.

    Chicken Shawarma Entree

*This review is strictly about the chicken shawarma* This place has some brass balls to have the nerve to call this shawarma. It has absolutely *zero* seasoning and flavor to it and looks more like chopped up boiled chicken. I'm also very confused by the rice. It has what appears to be those pre-cut frozen chopped up carrots and peas mixed in it. One question: Why? I've never seen anything like this, and the taste and smell was off putting as well. This shouldn't be on the menu. Actually, it shouldn't be on *any* menu. I can't speak to anything else from here -- although I will say I did like the hummus and pita that came with it -- but this meal was so bad that I had to come out of Yelp Retirement and write this. If you're looking for shawarma don't bother with this place.

Delicious! We got hummus (came with delicious and warm pita), stuffed grape leaves, tabouli, and falafel. All of the items tasted fresh, we'll definitely be back.

We ordered delivery, couldn't believe how fast it arrived and the price was great. Chicken plate: chicken was tender and flavorful, with a salad, hummus and veggies! Great food Baba Ghannouj : it's an eggplants dip for those who haven't tried it, so yummy just enough spices to add flavor but not overwhelm. Foul Mudam Mas: a fava bean dip, creamy and good for you! Delish! Chicken Phily cheesesteak: finally a Phily cheesesteak I can let my husband have more than a bite of! He loved this sandwich and I loved how delicious yet healthy it was.

Merion Park Labneh: this labneh is thicker than other restaurants which I really like actually. the photo I insert may be deceiving, as it looks chunky. rest assured, it's absolutely smooth, just a thicker consistency than most labnehs. the spices on it are so so good. I think this is a must get along with a hummus. me and my sister are vegetarian, we share a hummus and a labneh and are decently full after those. we also snack on some small plates for the table (fries and olives) and leave full. Israeli Pickles and Olives: comes with two ramekins filled with varying sized pickles, not pitted olives, and some tiny yellow peppers I *think* are either pepper-chinos or at the very least taste similar. they also come with a small ramekin for the olive pits. The yellow peppers are very spicy, but I loved them. the olives are green, and i'd consider them friendly olives for those who are particular around olives. pickles were great as expected. French Fries: easy order for the table. portion is large and I think $8 is a steal for the quantity and quality. comes with a yummy ketchup my sister loves (she is considered a ketchup hater). COCONUT MALABI: I did not know what to expect. and honestly, first bite I was a bit confused by the texture, but by the end, I really liked it. its a thick pudding consistency, smooth, has a decent bounce to it, not too sweet at all, subtle coconut flavor. has a strawberry (I think) jam situation on top with some sort of crunchy thing. will be getting that again for sure. we had three people split this and it was enough. would consider getting two for four people though. service was quick, efficient, and kind. love the atmosphere. it has a sort of lively fun vibe to it. also we were in and out pretty quick without being rushed at all which is nice. just efficient. Also, I haven't tried them yet but they have a good little mocktail menu for those who don't drink!

It consists of ten salads which can all be refilled as needed. At the center is a bowl of creamy hummus and a side of fluffy pita. The dishes change based on the season so ours had a lot of summer produce. Considering the salads are already premade and that this platter is served to everyone by default, I would have expected it to come out to our table almost immediately after seating. This way, we could have had more time to sample each one and decide if we want refills. The portion is quite large and filing so we barely got seconds of anything. - cauliflower shawarma (6/10): roasted cauliflower on a bed of tahini with pine nuts. The cauliflower was cooked very well. Roasting it gave it a soft and slightly creamy texture that falls apart in your mouth. When we first ate it, there was no spice at all. It seemed like all the flavor was in the sauce at the base. Pouring the sauce on the top or mixing it in more thoroughly would have made for a richer experience. - mushroom shishlik (6/10): portobello mushrooms and asparagus on a herby tahini sauce. This one had more flavor than the cauliflower but I was not a huge fan of how the mushrooms were cooked. The pieces felt large and not pleasant to bite into. They also had a meaty and chewy texture. - eggplant (8/10): grilled eggplants with dollops of tomato sauce. This was by far the best of the vegetarian entrees. The eggplant is very soft and creamy with the right amount of spice from the topping. The red sauce which I assumed to be tomato based added freshness and acidity. With a scoop of hummus from the salatim on top of a piece of pita, it was an enjoyable bite. - tahini soft serve (7/10): tahini soft serve with chocolate magic shell. The dessert is included in the menu and this is the vegan option. After the salatim and the entrees, we were quite stuffed and barely had an appetite for dessert. The tahini ice cream has a strong bitter flavor with the mildest touch of sweetness. While I liked the concept of the chocolate shell, I would have wanted it to be thinner so that it could crack easier. WOULD I GO BACK? Maybe. I think some of the dishes are worth trying but going at a less busy time would be more enjoyable.

Extremely tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. -Lamb Ribs - Another standout item. The meat was incredibly tender and practically melted in your mouth. -Filet Mignon Kebab - Very good. Tender, well seasoned, and cooked perfectly. -Chilean Sea Bass - Flaky, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. -Lamb Chops - Cooked perfectly medium rare and paired with amazing layered potato fries. Easily one of the best dishes of the night and another must-order item. -Braised Short Rib - Served with dill bao buns and pickled onions. The short rib was rich, tender, and paired really well with the light acidity from the pickled onions and the soft bao buns. -Chicken - Served with basmati rice and packed with great flavor. Final Thoughts - This was an outstanding dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was beautiful, the service was excellent, and every dish we ordered was delicious. It's not often that an entire table agrees on so many menu items, but Almyra delivered across the board. We would absolutely return again, and I would highly recommend it for special occasions, celebrations, or anyone looking for a memorable meal.

I had the opportunity to visit Greece for the first time a few years ago, and while I always liked…read moreGreek/Mediterranean food, the trip 'heightened my senses', and I now seek out the food I enjoyed so much during my visit. Almyra - I happened to walk by it a few weeks ago, I didn't know it was there. I thought, 'looks very nice, I'll have to try it'. The restaurant, which features 'modern Greek' is part of the Estia Group, which includes 7 restaurants - 3 of which are in Philly (Estia and Pietro's are the other two). I went for dinner this evening on a Wednesday, and there was a good crowd - the restaurant is quite large, and it's decorated beautifully. I started with three of the Spreads - Smoked Eggplant, Beet, and Hummus. It was wonderful trying these 3 - I spread them on the pita and crispy rice crackers - and tried them separately - spoonful by spoonful, to really taste the differences. The Edamame Hummus has a unique flavor and texture with tahini and garlic. The Beet features roasted beets blended with labneh and garlic and topped with pistachio and feta. The Smoked Eggplant with peppers and balsamic rounds out the 3 with a deep, smoky flavor and a soft, smooth texture. I always look for 'classic' Spanakopita these days, but rarely find it. The dish at Almyra was labeled 'Spanakopita Manti' - I asked my server, what that was. She said it was a favorite of hers, a fried 'flower shaped' pastry filled with blended spinach and feta, served with tzatziki and leeks. I ordered them and they were heavenly - lightly battered, crispy fried 'flowers', with a creamy spinach center, that tasted exactly like spanakopita should. I dipped every bite in the creamy tzatziki and thoroughly enjoyed the appetizer! While pork is the most popular meat in Greece, lamb is a dish served on special occasions and holidays. I 'discovered' lamb in Greece, as I hadn't ordered it that often when I would go out to eat....specifically the lamb chop. Almyra has a great lamb chop! It's seared on the grill - and I do mean seared - the deep char definitely adds to the flavor. The 3 large chops are Australian lamb, herb marinated for days highlighting the flavor of the meat. They are seasoned with sea salt, cracked pepper and olive oil for a tender finish. I like my meat pink inside - not red or rare. Cooking lamb chops medium to medium well is no small feat, yet the meat was cooked exactly the way I liked. They were tender and very juicy. These chops may have been some of the thickest I've had - and I made the 'mistake' of trying to eat them with a fork and knife. Wrong! If you order chops, you 'MUST PICK THEM UP' and eat them! What a difference!! The meat just came right off the bone and it enhanced both the texture and flavor! I'm not sure why eating them off the bone was so different, but I can't emphasize it enough - and, it's a lot more fun! Part of the treat when you order ribs are the 'layered potato fries' you get with them! These aren't your ordinary fries, in fact, they're really not fries - they are little potato masterpieces! The fries are prepared by thinly slicing potatoes and layering them to create a multi layered texture that rocks! They are truly a savory, rich side dish to the lamb chops! After such an epic dinner, I had to order dessert, and the Olive Oil cake immediately caught my eye. It was a two layered cake with a creamy custard like center and a citrus orange topping. It was light and moist, accompanied by a scoop of vanilla gelato resting on a bed of ground pistachio nuts! It was delicious and a wonderful ending to a great meal!
