I have been a member here since it opened. I have been treated well and enjoy working out here, however I agree with others talking about the gym not being cleaned on a regular basis and women's bathroom really smell. I don't know what the cleaning person is doing there all day but it's not cleaning. Please clean the bathrooms and shampoo the carpets in the dressing room area. I can feel sticky buildup grime on my feet when I'm changing. I have learned to clean my own machines when working out. No-one is going to do that for you especially the cleaning staff. Plenty of work out machines and so far the staff has responded to concerns I have had in the past. Please do something about the uncleanliness of the bathroom and dressing areas. Would not recommend this gym at all. They make you jump through hoops to cancel. I wasn't even under a contract. Also, If you want to wait to use equipment while narcissists take photos of themselves and videos then this is the place for you. Equipment is old and run down. Terrible! I've always had trouble with the aggressive finance company and the deplorable tactics this gym uses- but this takes the cake! I'm going away to college next week and asked to cancel my membership in June. They didn't email me back for a week, then request more information. I sent them more information about my dorm, and a few more weeks pass. Finally they cancel it and charge me $50 cancellation fee. Then a week later email me back and say it can't be cancelled. This has went on for 2 months, during COVID while I'm trying to put myself though college. This has now resulted in 2 extra months fees for them. This is a planned tactic! I have been very disappointed in Golds. I go to the gym around 3-4 days a week and recently moved to Golds for both convenience and price. I struggle with the fact that it always feels and smells dirty. The yellow cleaning towels are always very wet, however I have never seen anyone put new ones out. Ew! The entire place appears as though it's never been vacuumed or mopped. The machines and equipment are poorly maintained and always all over the place. The thing that disappoints me the most is that the staff always appears on their phones and bored at their job. In other gyms there is always someone walking around, tidying up equipment, and chatting with members or offering help/suggestions. This staff seems like they're always 10 minutes from being "off" and inconvenienced that they even have to be there. I appreciate that I am left alone to do my own thing at the gym, however, I don't feel like a "member". And for the love of god, will someone please change the door hours from 24 hours to whatever it's actually opened so I feel like SOMEONE works there! read more

Currently looking for a gym as I moved to a new home. From a first time visitor POV: Pros: - Doesn't look like a crowded gym. Pool was empty, machines were available, sauna wasn't too crowded. - Pricing - $37 a month is what I was told during the time of my visit. - If you keep to yourself and don't care about quality in the gym, this might be a good spot. Cons: - Giving this two stars due to this. Would give it less, but the girl at the front counter was actually very nice. However, I came in as a potential future member and waited over 20 minutes before I could come in. Asked for Greg, who looks to "run" this place, but was told he was playing basketball and should be out in a moment. Silly that I would think someone on the clock would be able to help me out. After waiting for Greg, sure enough he comes out from the courts covered in sweat and not the friendliest of people. He gave me a tour, but throughout all of it, I was just wishing it would end and he would go back to playing basketball. Not sure if he could see I was not happy already, but he brought this WAY down. If he did notice, he did nothing about it. If he didn't, that's part of the issue too. - Pool didn't look super clean (neither did the rest of the gym) - Machines look old. - Basketball court is half court. - Nothing here seemed to stand out. HUGE gym in Westchester Commons! LOTS of machines! LOTS of space to move and breathe without bumping into people. HUGE cardio cinema. Three-lane pool that could easily be six narrow lanes (no lifeguard on duty). Half-court basketball court. Several tanning beds, even a standup. This Gold's is in my membership network. I think I'll have to go there to use the pool so I can get in some cross-training. read more

Gold's Gym - Gyms Near Me - Midlothian, Virginia

WARNING: Unless you want to sign your life away in contracts, do not sign up for this gym. The sad part about writing this review is that it's a great gym to work out in. But, you sell you arm, a leg, and maybe your soul to get out of contracts here. I joined in part because I liked their physical trainer program from my initial consultation. I signed up for a 2 year contract and 3 months of physical training at 3 days a week. I signed waivers on the physical pad (I was never offered nor shown the computer screen I was signing for). This was a mistake in my part to not read it. I took my trainer at his word. Here's where my issue came in. I was told there was no contract and that you pay by the sessions by my trainer. Turns out it is a contract that auto renews sessions. Here's the scumbag part of the whole situation. When my package almost ran out, my trainer sold me more sessions at a very discounted price. However, when my original package ran out and I still had my new trainer package with sessions left. They auto renewed saying that I had no sessions left, when in fact I do. Talked to management and it was initially difficult to work with. Greg is the only person in that whole entire company that remotely cared. He worked to help me out and they refunded 50% of my sessions as credit which I could use towards my membership. So not ideal situation, but it's resolved and I can deal with it. 1 month later I lose my job and move out of state. So now I have around $180 sitting in my account which is a waste. Nothing I could control, but it happened. This is lucky because canceling your membership was another whole ordeal. $50 to cancel and you pay your $30 for your 30 day notice required. I submitted my notice and no response for a couple of weeks. Finally after having to constantly follow up with the awful Taft services, they inform me one month after I submitted that I needed to submit more sufficient evidence. So I have to restart my 30 day notice. Fortunately I still had this credit to take out for the extra months notice I was required to pay for due to Taft being impossible to deal with. Lesson learned: never trust this dishonest, leaching company who will attempt to suck every bit of money from you. I never write reviews, but this dishonesty in a business is uncalled for. read more

I used to go to this gym when I lived in the area and was a member. I always felt like this is an overall good facility. However, recently I was in the area visiting some friends and we decided to go workout together. Both of my friends are members here and we figured I can simply do a day pass. 5/8 - More equipment to pick up and put away in order to use workout equipment myself. Lights on and ceiling fans running all night in exercise rooms while gym is closed (this has been an ongoing observation). 5/7 - Opened on time, had to pick up plates and other equipment from floor to avoid tripping (see photo) 5/6 - 3rd time this week no to open at 4am. Plates on floor and equipment that I have to put away to remove tripping hazard and to workout on equipment. Empty and half full water bottle on floor throughout. Facility equipment has loose parts that require allen wrench to fix. After 7 months, I've become very disappointed in the ownership of this gym. Extremely messy, have to put other peoples weights and garbage away, can't always work out in am because no one is there in the morning to open the place up. Was asked to fill out survey and provided same information. Received email acknowledging the survey feedback and asked for phone number to discuss further. Provided number and 7 weeks later have not received a call nor has anyone at the club approached me to discuss. I verbally reported that a spin bike I use needed batteries replaced and three weeks later I purchased and replaced the batteries myself. Absolutely awful. Totally agree with the previous post about Taft services and in my opinion, they are a bunch of crooks. I have a superior credit score and ALWAYS pay any bills or fees. I canceled my membership in October of 2016 and I just received a harassing text message today saying they were sending me to collections. I have not received a single call or email about this charge and now they are sending me to collections? I cancelled November 1 and they charged me for all of November and December. Who would do that? I also have a similar name to my dad so I got charged for the past 7 months because they cancelled my dad, Daniel and my name is Danise. So that caused a million other phone calls and visits. I could go on and on about the countless hours spent talking to a million different people at this gym and how they all say my account is in the clear and everything is fine. But sure enough I get this text message about collections. Long story short, I was in a "month to month" and it is clear that is not the case. It has been a NIGHTMARE to cancel my membership and 7 months later I'm still getting harassing text messages. I just coughed up the 70 dollars to end any further issues but I feel totally taken advantage of because I always paid on time and when I cancelled, owed nothing. read more

The worst experience I have ever had. Greg came and got me and my kids and told me I had to pay for a day pass when I have been a member at this gym for over 5 years. I told him I would pay for my kids who are (under 13) on my way out ; who usually go to the day care but daycare being closed and said no I would have to pay immediately. I can pay for a drink through my account but me being a member and not having to pay for my kids who are part of my plan to begin with? I will be canceling my membership and I don't recommend anyone coming to this location! I walked out and I won't be returning with this behavior. Raising his voice and walking up to me and my kids like we committed a crime. I don't know who hired him or thinks this type of behavior is appropriate. Not to mention I am pretty sure he had his own child with him as well... if I could give 0 starts I would. At the beginning of COVID they charged by 71+ year old mom for Personal Training and her gym membership in April (the gym was closed). On the phone, they told us the only way to cancel was in person. We attempted to go in twice to cancel her membership and PT, but no-one was there... (duh COVID). After telling them on the phone to cancel the membership and stopping payment on all transactions, they are now harassing my mom for payment of almost $1000 in PT, membership, and fees from May thru October. Taft Services and Gold Gym Midlothian are the most dishonest companies out there. DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM. They will scam you and bleed money from you. They have no ethics. read more

Notice the 1 star reviews only revolve around the reactions people have when they discover they don't understand basic contractual obligations. Read and keep your contract. That's all you need to do. I've been coming to this gym for a little under a year now. Initially, I was turned off about the pricing structure as I used to be a member of another Golds (not of this group, unfortunately) and was paying $10 less a month for a membership. Having just moved to Powhatan and not wanting to go to the YMCA out there nor having many accessible options, this Golds Gym got me and I was a little salty about it. With that being said, this gym is so clean, much larger, way less broken equipment, no meat market vibes and a pretty friendly staff. I never take advantage of the pool, basketball court or classes, but maybe one day!? For now I'm content being able to get in and out of here, even after work when it's busiest, without the feeling of rushing because someone is breathing down your neck about working in. I'd give them a higher rating if they had less expensive membership options & less expensive guest pricing because I'd love for my husband to come with me sometimes but theres no way that guy is paying this price when he wouldn't come that often due to his schedule. read more

I joined shortly before the COVID-19 outbreak. I attempted to cancel my membership march 1st through an email so that I would not be charged additionally. But it was immediately suggested by management that I put a freeze on my account instead. It was made very clear in writing that I would not be charged for the freeze. When I attempted to cancel the freeze, at no charge per our agreement, I was told that I had to pay 57.99. When I expressed my concerns, I was very troubled by their lack of costumer service to include absolutely no words of sympathy or understanding. Additionally, I went through a pretty similar situation with the Powhatan YMCA only how they handled it could not have been more different and positive in comparison! They actually waived fees from a previous month (which I certainly wasn't expecting but their graciousness was very much appreciated) AND did not try to give ANY additional fees! Once things progress and we are no longer socially distant, I will be sure to re-join the Powhatan YMCA with their lovely facilities and family environment and... they put the costumer first. I frequent this gym probably 4-5 times a week. I always go at different times as it is right next to my job. I am always greeted by name with a smile almost as soon as I walk in the door. I've been a member for probably 4 years and probably will continue to be a member for a long time. The gym and especially the women's locker room are kept very clean considering the amount of sweaty people in there all the time I also see them put fresh towels out,not everytime I go, but the majority of times. I've taken a couple group classes there, and while not really my style they are always very fun and challenging. I would also like to highlight Tamara and Clay, if they are there when I go they make me feel so welcome and they both are always smiling! read more

Pretty great gym. I have two kiddos that live the kids club. Taylor and Brooke always greet them by name and make their time fun (so I never feel guilty about leaving them). I wish the kids club hours were a bit longer on the weekends. They offer barre class now- So that's awesome. The body pump classes are also fantastic. Clean and well maintained (there are people there cleaning almost every time I go). Front desk staff is very friendly as well. Equipment is always available and working too. Only reason for the 4 not 5, I brought a friend once for a free trial and she was made to give her credit card and then she got a phone call thanking her for joining. She was pretty much going to join until this happened- she felt pressured so she passed. read more

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! From the moment I joined they were deceptive and sneaky. I was a STUDENT only 19, and they took advantage of me and my money. They charged me incorrectly several times taking 3 days to put the money back in my account- money I didn't even have. When I was asked if I'd like to try a trainer I did- thinking I could pay for sessions when and if I wanted to train at the time, but that was also contracted. I was never told That until they started over drafting my account twice monthly. I was obviously young and not financially stable and they tricked me into taking all my money. Terrible people without a conscious to be able to deceive and steal from someone who was only trying to better themselves. UPDATE: there is no way to cancel your account.. you can freeze it and continue to pay $10 monthly and the start again if and when you can afford it. Absolutely disgusting how money hungry this gym is. I will say Christian was very kind and helpful and I understand it is out of his power. He was very compassionate as I sat crying my eyes out in front of him. But it will cost me nearly $200 JUST to freeze the account. With no cancelation option. My advice, unless you are very RICH, do not join this gym. ANOTHER UPDATE: manager told me to cut everything else out of my budget and was asking how much I spend on food clothes makeup etc and told me to cut those out. Then he told me to find a sugar daddy so I can afford their gym membership. Absolutely inappropriate and unprofessional and I have no way of getting in contact with their corporate office. Tried cancelling with them when we moved 45 min away. Sent a document of our papers of where we now live. They said it wasn't enough information sounding like cops. Knowing we hadn't been to the gym in 5 month we still have 6 months left on it and being a human knowing the situation and see we haven't been in months they don't care. Seriously difficult to cancel memberships. They were instructed in February 2019 to contact my attorney before withdrawing March 2019's dues as we were filing for bankruptcy. Refused to contact the attorney and are now refusing to refund Marchs payment despite having received the notice. Also, refused to acknowledge the Better Business Bureau's complaint that provided the attorney's contact information for at least the third time. read more
