Been going here for about two months. The gym is huge and busy. There are a ton of machines to choose from, a few separate rooms and a pool. They offer more things if you add it on to your membership. However, the water fountain is always broken and I can tell they don't clean the gym as much as they should, other than that it serves it;s purpose, it is a little pricy. read more

This is a low key and clean gym with friendly staff. The hours are helpful. The price is very good for the value.

I'm in town temporarily for work and chose this gym because it's close to my apartment. Big mistake. While the facility and equipment are actually pretty good, the environment is absolutely terrible. If you're someone who likes to come in, focus on your workout, and leave -- don't waste your time here. This place is more of a social hangout than a gym. People stand around talking, taking up space and equipment, with zero gym etiquette. Some people are very disrespectful as well and will pretend you don't exist and taunt you while you're waiting for equipment to open up or intentionally getting in your path when walking to get dumbbells. If you're serious about fitness, expect to be treated like you're the problem. To make matters worse, I was threatened with violence by another member. I reported the incident, and new management did absolutely nothing. Not even after a conversation. Apparently, if someone harasses or threatens you, you're expected to just deal with it -- especially if you're fit and not part of the little social clique that runs the place. And yes, there is definitely a judgmental, self-righteous culture here that seems to take pride in it. I was targeted for how I dressed and what I represent -- all because I don't fit their preferred narrative. The manager was accusatory, dismissive, and completely unwilling to hear my side. Instead, he played mental gymnastics to make it seem like I was the issue. Totally unprofessional and spineless. I was also told to "Figure it out." about my refund in a very disrespectful and snarky manner. I will be reporting this to the corporate office. Bottom line: this gym might have decent equipment, but the toxic, petty, and frankly hostile culture makes it not worth your time. If you value respect, safety, and a focused workout environment -- steer clear. Horrible, disgusting experience. read more

It's a shame to rate this gym so low, because I really do like the staff. But it has allowed far too many members for the capacity/amount of equipment available. If you come here during normal weekdays after work, you will struggle to complete a routine using any of the machines or benches you need. This is smack dab between Brandermill and Woodlake, so I understand. But it truly, truly needs to expand or stop allowing so many people to sign up. I have been a member of Gold's Gym at Swift Creek for over ten years. After my retirement as the Senior Associate Dean at the Medical College of Virginia, going to the gym became a crucial element of my retirement activity. Today, I had an experience I had never encountered. I went to use a bench to press weight. There was a bench open. After I had started exercising, a young man came up to tell me it was his bench and pointed to two large weights sitting nearby. I told him that you cannot save equipment and expect other people to wait for you. He then began calling me "old man, cursing at me and threatening me." His buddy next to him, who did nothing to save the spot, joined in and it felt extremely unsafe to me. I called the front desk at the gym, and it went to the director's voicemail. I felt unsafe to walk to the front of the gym to leave. I called the police and they asked me to meet them at the entrance. At the desk, I spoke to the manager, Philip Burke, and he in turn talked to the man who had caused me, threatened me and called me "old man." They both collaborated on an untrue account and Burke said there was nothing he could do because the two thugs were witnesses for each other. I talked to the police, and they said the same thing. I asked the manager if the thug would apologize to me, and he said he would not, which was no surprise as he seemed to feel entitled to treat anyone the way he wanted, and did not see where there was an issue in threatening and intimidating a senior citizen. I am very angry about what happened and the lack of responsiveness by management. Senior citizens need to know that there are places they can go to exercise, socialize, and recreate that are safe and free of threats and intimidation. They just got new equipment and it's already Broken as well I don't recommend coming to this gym location very poor quality. The spray bottle don't even work. Today I had a horrible experience at this gold gyms (swift creek). My family has been members of golds for the past 5 years. I moved out of state for college recently and just came home for 2 weeks to visit my family. My aunt has been wanting to get serious about her health so I wanted to attend the gym with her for support. I signed up for a 7 day free pass. When I got to the gym and told her I had the pass the assistant manager Valencia started pushing for a sale. I explain to her that I won't be here long just wanted to come and support my family while I'm here. She then says they have a promotion for 1 month for 1 dollar and I can cancel anytime. I explained again that I no longer live in the area and it would be no point in creating a membership. She then said okay and reluctantly asked me for my phone number to search my free pass. She then tells me that the pass has expired. I show her the proof that I never redeemed it. She says I did because it's expired, implying that I was lying. She also stated that she wouldn't honor the pass because I don't live in town and I'm not "interested in becoming a member." I don't understand what the point of a trial is if you are REQUIRED to purchase something you may not even enjoy. We asked if that was in the company policy or if there was any literature that validated what she was saying. Because I was never given that clause in the conditions they sent with the free pass. We then proceed to go back and forth about this for a few moments till she gets visibly fed up and tells the woman next to her "just let them go." As if we weren't standing there speaking with her in the same moment. She tells me to sign in on the tablet. And then she starts stating snarky remarks saying "I don't need to lie, I'm not trying to be the bad guy but I don't care if I am the bad guy." The statements she made after we were done discussing it was unnecessary and unprofessional. This is my family's local gym and they love going here. But after this experience we all know it's best to just cancel instead of being reminded that the staff here is disrespectful and has no respect for their members or potential members. Horrible experience! Rude unprofessional personal trainer. I joined the gym, I was told that I will get a free training session I scheduled my appointment for 11/18 @5:30. I arrived early; 5:15 and was told by front desk that my trainer was still working with someone. Since I was a bit early I jumped on the treadmill while I waited for my trainer. I was told by the desk personnel that my trainer will find me when she was ready. I waited until 5:45 and no personal trainer so I went up to the front desk and asked what was going on. She came up no greeting and said I only have 40 minutes but you can reschedule. I stated I had an appointment And I wanted to workout now. She said well "I'm doing you a favor". I ask her what did she meant by that comment. She proceeded to the back and got the manager(Phillip Burke) He said she will not be working with me because she didn't feel comfortable and I was refused service. I have no idea what happened and why she was so rude and did not want to provide a service that I was entitled to. In speaking with the manager, he said she ran over her appointment time with her previous client. if that, indeed was the case, she should have apologized for her tardiness, instead of being rude and disrespectful. Phillip Burke solution with the send me to another gym for training which was totally unacceptable because I did nothing wrong. I also said she was the only trainer at the Hull Street location. It's a good gym that needs a bit more TLC. There is a bench that has wheels that squeals at high decibels that can be heard through tour the gym that'll make your ears bleed...and has been like that for at least a year now. WD40, literally all it takes. 85 or 80 lbs (can't remember which) dumbbell is slightly loose, one side is held together with what looks like electrical tape? Unfortunately no one can do anything about this, just a gripe. Very difficult to workout during prime time, high school kids end up taking either the one and only squat rack or deadlifting station for hours! And they spread out to the point entire sections are just off limits because there's like 8 of them. Good on them for working out but Jesus they need to figure out gym etiquette, at least rack the weights. You see the cleaning staff but I'm not entirely sure what they're cleaning. You can see in the photos the grossness around the weights and machines have not been touched in months, possibly longer. Overall, it's an ok gym but the lack of attention to broken equipment and filth is disconcerting. Don't get me wrong, I don't expect hospital sterilization and cleanliness but this shows lack of engagement by management. Get it together guys. read more

It's a good place but it is kind of small for how many people are always in there. there's rarely ever any squat rack or bench presses and I've gone at all different times and rarely is there ever one that's open except for Sundays. Also, I literally walked into the gym the other morning, went into the locker room/bathroom to put my bag away and this lady was butt naked just walking around, that has nothing to do with the gym itself but I'm literally a kid. read more

I love this gym! It's very convenient to me, the staff is efficient, it is always spectacularly clean, and it is a great place to get in a workout while avoiding heat and humidity. I love the Cardio Cinema feature, and so far their choice in movies has been great. Something to remember: This is a Gold's Gym Express location, and that means there isn't childcare or a swimming pool (although the manager told me that if things go well they may expand) so this may not be what parents or swimmers are looking for. However the prices reflect the smaller size and that is why memberships are very reasonable. Right now basic membership is only $9.99/month and the upgraded membership with some NICE benefits (free guest, travel pass, free tanning, half-off drinks etc.) is only $19.99/month. read more

Good enough for what I need which is access to a variety of cardio equipment and close to my house. Purchased the $9.99/mo plan with no "contract". Instead it's an "agreement" that you sign stipulating you will give 30 days notice if you want to cancel. And you have to have a credit card so they can automatically withdraw the $9.99 every month. And there is the annual fee of $30. Don't be fooled into thinking there is no contract. And yes they will try to upsell you on the other plans they have which I think are 20 and $25 a month. So read the fine print on the front and the back and make sure you know what you're signing for you may have issues if you want to cancel. Aside from the false advertising regarding month-to-month no contract my only other complaint would be to turn the volume down on the music they play at the gym you could actually go deaf in the women's bathroom. I've been a member for 5+ years now. That said, my review of 2 stars is very generous. CONS: No sign of management, just a few high school employees. No cleaning staff (others have spoke to this and it is very true) or equipment maintenance. The gym is always cluttered with useless equipment that takes up functional floor space. During prime time there's no place to complete a warm-up (not because there's too many people, but because of no designated open floor). They recently spent $2,000+ on a stationary tire-flip (*face palm*) ..why not buy another squat rack or platform with that money? These last 2 cons play into lack of management - 3 people I've seen now have consistently been SMOKING juuls in the gym. In the weight room.. And from 7pm-9:30pm the only person you can hear in the gym is a wannabe bodybuilder with jeans, flip flops, and invisible lat syndrome. PROS: I pay $20/month for a Gold membership ..so I probably won't cancel but am looking into other gyms near me. read more

I brought a friend with me to the gym and as per policy she signed in and left her ID at the front desk. When we went to leave and pick up her ID they could not find it. She went to look through the IDs to make sure they did not over look it and Chellie came out fussing saying to put down the IDs even though someone else has hers. He could not look up who the person was and no one had recollection of who they gave it to. I told them they needed to pay for a new I'd if they couldn't find it and he responded aggressively that he "didn't have to do nothin" And told her to write her information down if someone comes in to return it. Chellie was not apologetic and made it sound like he did not care what happens if she didn't have her ID. read more

While the gym experience itself isn't bad, it is an absolute nightmare once you end your membership. My wife is very financially responsible, and she went through all the proper procedures to end her membership when she moved out of the area. Her membership payments were current, and she gave 30 days notice and paid any additional fees that were signed off in her original contract. Upon quitting, she was told that everything was in good standing. Several months later, she got a call from a company named First Credit Services claiming that she had an unpaid balance when she left the gym and that she owed them about $40, and if she didn't pay within 30 days, they would report it to credit agencies, which would ruin her spotless credit. As a side note, she was on a month-to-month contract that cost just $10 a month. Although $40 is not much in the grand scheme of things, it is the principle of the matter that she did everything she needed to do to end her membership and was told that she was in good standing. Furthermore, even if she truly did owe $40, neither the gym nor MotionSoft (who handles their billing) contacted her before sending it off to collections. We disputed this claim with the company and gave more notices in writing to the gym, to MotionSoft, and to First Credit Services, but the harassing phone calls about the unpaid balance are still coming, and they are still threatening to report it to the credit agencies. Upon doing a Google search for both MotionSoft and First Credit Services, we have found that there are many people out there who have had this exact same problem after leaving Gold's Gym. To this day, we still don't have anything resolved, and it is almost a year later. We are so frustrated at this point, that we are considering just paying the $40 despite the principle of it, just to avoid it affecting her spotless credit, but then we are worried about them claiming that we still owe more money after that. Just because this gym is cheaper than many others, please reconsider your choice. It's definitely not worth the harassment and stress that ensues once you are done. read more

"Satellite Express Location". For Gold's Gym, this location is quite close to where I live and very easy to get to. Parking is a bit tight, as a lot of Midlothian users tend to go around peak hours (4-6PM). The prices are not bad, and the Gold membership gives you additional perks. You will need to pay extra for a trainer. There are also tanning booths and massage chairs for those with the Gold Membership. The gym is quite clean and does not smell 'like a gym'. There are plenty of machines and equipment to use. The Cardio Cinema is one of my favorite spots (cardio during a featured movie), however this room fills fast. There is no swimming pools or childcare for those who desire it. If you want those amenities - travel up 288 to Westchester Commons Location (however, you will pay additional for that). read more

This was a great gym. I'm a power lifter and have been a member here since 2018. I have never had a problem with any of the mangers till now. Valencia the GM has really killed the enjoyable experience. She will stop people in the middle of there workout for "trying a weight that is to heavy for them." She also harasses people for dropping bumper plates, which is what they are made for. I have seen her give people a hard time trying to cancel there membership. She will also try give unsolicited advice to people about how they are lifting. This does not mean that all the staff is bad. Lucas is a good assistant manager and very good conversationalist. He is knowledgeable and friendly. Dylan is a great front desk and alway smiling. The equipment is good for powerlifting and the people are friendly. I wish I could give this gym 5 stars but Valencia has kinda ruined the atmosphere for a lot of people. read more

I show up this morning, apparently interrupting a personal phone call from the young woman behind the desk, who then told me the fee was $20. She denied that anyone would only charge $10. The quality of the bathroom is completely unacceptable. I have been a member of several golds gyms over the years and bathroom cleanliness has never been a problem. This facility needs to work on a process for maintaining cleanliness in the bathrooms. It is becoming worse over the last few months. The floors are sticky, there's a strong urine smell, moldy showers. It is a health hazard. Many gym members are going next-door to use the restrooms at Publix. I joined this gym because it is very close to my new house, however if things don't change I am strongly considering taking the 30 minute drive back to Gold's gym Westchester. I know many many gym members have been complaining, I'm not sure if management does not care or is having a staffing issue? Every time I'm in the locker room gym members are talking about how disgusting the bathrooms are. There is absolutely no way that management is unaware of this problem. Friendly staff. Good amenities (talking about you, Cardio Cinema!). Low monthly fee. Lots of equipment, especially for an "express" gym. Can't really complain about much, save for the overwhelming number of people on Saturday afternoons/ Monday evenings. Alas, there isn't really a whole lot that can be done to fix high customer turnout. Plus, why would the managers want to? Popularity equals fat stacks (money, for all you non-millennials). I'm a crowd hater, is all. It's something I live with. I'm also a profuse sweater, so it's pretty cool that they let me use their treadmill lines without any fuss. Most places give you the stink eye when you're Shamoo splashing their gear with perspiration. This Gold's Gym, on the other hand, offers encouraging smiles and daps for days. So rad. Seriously though, everybody here - customers included - are great. It's a fun atmosphere and the staff makes it a point to interact with clients, even if you haven't paid for personal training. I've been a member at the Swift Creek Gold's Gym since it first opened back in 2011. During this time, I've seen them add additional equipment and renovate one section to include classes. I like that this location has quite a few amenities (tanning beds, massage chairs, cardio cinema) for a very reasonable price. One thing I dislike is the amount of wasted outdoor space. I also noticed a few months ago that there was a drastic change in the employees that were hired. There used to be people there that would greet you by name as you came in the door, making you feel very welcome. Now it seems they have gotten rid of them and replaced them with people who don't even acknowledge you and are too busy flirting/talking with people at the service desk. Overall, it's a great gym for the price, but I wish they had more professional people working there. read more

This gym is clean and has a nice atmosphere. There are plenty of elliptical machines and cybex treadmills. Also a couple stair machines. However, if you're looking to get in a relatively heavy lift this may not be your gym. Barbells only go up to 60lbs and dumbbells only go up to 100lbs. It also lacks a couple things I would like such as a free motion squat machine and a sauna that I've seen in other Golds. It kinda gives a starter gym feel. read more

Great gym and a really great price. Only $10 a month and they have a ton of treadmills, free weights and circuit training equipment. This one is a basic version, no pool or anything but they do have tanning. My favorite thing here is the Cardio Cinema! Run or cycle while watching a movie! They also have a membership where you get tanning and you can bring a friend unlimited time for $20 a month. They have classes too which I haven't tried yet but they look really fun, maybe next time! read more

I seen a man SNAP a coconut in half with his bare hands here, now that'll work out more than just your forearms. An elderly woman ran so damn fast on the treadmill, it started a friction fire between the surface and her sketcher platforms. The poor old woman was screamin SLOW THIS DAMN THING DOWN! But all anyone could think about was how long ago she probably bought those sketcher platforms. If you couldn't already tell this gym will take you to a whole new level. Only sign up if you're man enough to face the challenges that await you. By the way there's a small blonde haired woman that works the front desk with a mole the size of Texas on her right cheek that might look like food. You ask her about it, you're dead. I have been a member at this gym for years now. It started out a great gym for me to workout in but over the years it has dramatically changed for the worst! I have seen manager after manager, employee after employee turnover there! The gym has gone way down hill over the years, it's a very NASTY place, a gym is not clean by all means, but this one is the worst I have every been in. The dirt and dust is disgusting ! no one ever cleans there, when a machines breaks it usually gets fixed in a week or so! There is not enough equipment in the building, some of the machines are sitting outside. the owner obviously dose not care about his business or he never has been in a gym EVER! This gym probably will close down. Myself and about six or seven others are on are way out. We have seen enough nastiness, dirt, broken equipment to deter us to look to joining another gym! This gym is TRASH!!!!! the concrete floor on the free weight side is broken from weights being slammed on the floor and noting has been done about the floor, I personally has trip over the hump in the floor several times after even showing one of the managers that problem! someone will get hurt in that gym by way of faulty equipment. the cables on some of the machines are frayed, people have cut their hands by the frayed cables. it's obvious that the owner dose not care and it shows by way of managers and employees! it's very sad because that golds could be a goldmine. without a lot of work and a owner who wants to save his business, this place will not be there for long! I have held this comment in for years, it's such a shame and heart felt because I love that gym, but no more can be done. you cant help a business that doesn't want to help itself. My what perfect timing. I've been a member of your GYM Since it opened on Hull St Chesterfield Va. Everyone has always been very nice friendly joking atmosphere until yesterday. The young lady yesterday who had tattoos all over her upper arm not that that makes any difference must of been really having a bad day. She turned toward me when I checked in and accidentally pulling her shirt up half way over her stomach and I said in a very joking manner, better not do that to a old man I don't need to be anymore charged up than I am before my work out. Laughing in a very jokingly manner and proceeded to the tread mill. She knew I was joking... 15 minutes later one of your manager came to me and asked if he could speak with me. I thought some had died or something so I followed him to a room where he shut all the doors and proceeded to tell me how I sexually harassed the girl at the front desk. Are you kidding me, I have kids her age I said. Also I said anything I said was in a totally joking manner. I asked him to go get her and I would apologize to her for joking around with her. He went and got her she came in and I apologized to her and she puffed up and started crying and left the room. This is a 60 year old man apologizing to this young girl over nothing. Let's get one thing straight I'm 60 years old and have 3 kids, and getting charged by your employees for sexual harassment.. Are you kidding me then they asked me to leave the gym. When I got home I felt terrible, and called back to again saying what I said was in a totally in a kidding tone and nothing was meant by it at all. Then they put the manager on the phone who read me my rights like I'd been arrested, tried, and convicted of a crime for sexual harassment. Then the asshole told me I was suspended until he said I could come back. Really, you think a 60 year old man needs this.
