I'll let you decide what you think this gym should get as a review based on my experience. I was a member at this gym for 2-3 years worked out 5-6 days a week consistently and paid my bill on time every month (auto-pay) until I moved to a new location and needed to switch gyms. I worked with the manager to cancel my membership in summer of 2018 and he also helped get me signed up at my new gym. Unfortunately one of their employees must have made a mistake when cancelling my membership and I did not notice they were still taking $ out of my account AFTER I cancelled in August 2018, until one day in November 2019 when I noticed 2 Golds gym charges in one month and my current gym verified which charge was from them. That being said I contacted Newburgh Gold's regarding the situation and they ran me to the ground. I mean they made it so difficult for me that for months they played games and refused to give me my money back because I couldn't find the signed cancellation paper and told me I was "lucky" that they were even willing to work with me on this at all. The one manager even confirmed that I had cancelled in August 2018 because he was there that day and then decided to retract what he said to me on the phone because well he at that point needed to cover his own ass for the sake of not losing his job. Ok cool I get it. The other manager was just straight up not helpful basically told me I was lucky they were willing to give me half of MY money back that they weren't even supposed to have. Is this gym that hard up for $? They refused to give me in writing what they were offering me (half of what they actually owed me) because they knew they were in the wrong so whenever I asked for the document they gave me the go around and deflected and never called me back. Want to know how I had to get 75% of my money back?! I legit had to have one of my best friends who goes to this gym be gifted a year membership on my behalf (but they only gave 10 months and not even the yearly fee they charged me) And then MY FRIEND had to give me the money for it. Love Golds Gym Newburgh! It's truly an entire fitness and nutrition center; much more than just a gym. The owners are friendly and very involved with the business and they have dumped a ton of money into this place over the last few years. The GGX and Alloy classes are great. There is a ton of equipment to use, I almost never have to wait for something. They are always adding something new and seeking feedback for improvement. No gym in the area comes close to this Gold's. read more

Have been a member now for over 16 years and I hope to continue for at least another 16 There is so much to offer and the staff is great. There is something for everyone from cardio theater to the pool, cycling and machines. I have always been a fan of the classes and they have some of the best yoga instructors around. Even in the classes there is a wide variety of opportunities available. The place is very clean and they are forever making improvements. I have travelled around and seen many other Gold's Gyms and none come close to Newburgh! read more

First let me start with the disclaimer that "I am NOT a gym person"! I always find them to be intimidating but at this point in my weight loss journey it is a necessary evil LOL. I joined PF in Newburgh a few months ago and it is what it is. However I decided to try GG out because it is closer to home. It's been about 2 months so far and I absolutely love this place. The facility is truly top notch & they're still improving. I felt very awkward going in the first couple of times because I've always imagined GG to be a gym for really hard-core enthusiasts but it wasn't like that at all. If you open yourself up enough to talk to the people there, they're all extremely helpful in making sure you get the most out of your experience. From showing me how to use the equipment to explaining all the classes in detail and even getting information on diet and nutrition. All of the information that I've gotten from this journey has been nothing but helpful and I've actually gotten to the point where I feel comfortable going. read more

Went to join the gym and a week later it Closed due to Covid. I was never informed that the gym opened back up. I paid my fee for starting up and the first month. I also paid for the personal trainer Spencer Shaw which really is great at his job and selling service, which I had no problem paying for his services made me really excited to know what was in store for me. We set up a schedule around my schedule knowing I am a single father who works 12 hour shifts. Planned on coming in then the gym closed. Gym opens and I was notified, Charged annual fee and fees for services I did not receive. Called Gym and talked to someone who was very nasty and said that's their policy and there was nothing he could do. I asked for the manager and he stated for what she's not going to break policy for you. When the manager finally got on the phone she said it was against policy but she would freeze the account so I wouldn't be billed anymore. A couple days late i was put in collections and attempted to be billed. I will never go back to this gym. Very horrible customer service. I went today to pay the $139 Today. Asked for my credit and I'm still waiting on that to be approved by the owner. Kyle Williams was very pleasant as he charged me today. Use your own judgement when you enter this place. read more

Business must be great for this location. Went with my roommate to use the free daily pass because we are interested in joining the gym, my roommate moved locally in February due to the pandemic and hasn't been able to get his ID changed yet and the guy at the front desk refused to listen and shot us down from entering even though My ID shows our address. Guess we will go join planet fitness. Unfortunate for their sales people that the rude person at the front desk wouldn't let us try it out, we were set on getting the yearly pass on our way to the gym. Disappointing. read more

Gold's Gym Newburgh is the worst gym experience I have ever had. I made three attempts over 3 weeks to see a Sales Rep or a Manager so that I cancel my membership since the people at the front desk are apparently NOT qualified to hand my a change form or accept one. In first and second attempt, there was only 1 sale rep available and I was told that I would have to wait 20 to 30 minutes to see him. Since I did not have the time to wait around, I had to leave. On my third and final attempt, again THERE WAS NO ONE AVAILABLE because there were all in a meeting. At this point, I ask them to please contact someone because I was not going come back for a fourth time. Finally, a sale rep comes down to see me with the worst altitude ever; almost like I pissed in his cereal. Anyway, he hands me a change form to sign and proceed to tell me that I will be charge another month since I didn't give them 30 days notice. (Another Gym scam but I digress) I told him that I was NOT going pay the additional month since it NOT my fault it took almost three weeks to see someone to cancel the membership. He response was indifference and proceeded to tell that there was nothing he could do about it At this point, I've decided to sign the change form and write that I do not agree with the additional charge and that I was signing this form under duress. When sale rep notice what I writing down, he snap at me and told me he could NOT accept the change form and that they will continue to bill me monthly. My reaction was ripped to change form and handed back to him. I had enough of his altitude and walked out of his office to the front desk and demand to see the manager. After about 5 minutes, I was told he was not available to see me. I handed the front desk a letter that I wrote before I came to the gym requesting to immediately cancel my membership. Plus, I gave the front desk my phone number and email and ask them to give to the manager. I told them I wanted him to contact me so that I can explain what happen to me and why I was refusing to pay the additional month For 2 weeks, I hear nothing back from them except I get a copy, in the mail, of the membership change form stating I WILL BE CHARGE ANOTHER MONTH and a copy of the contract highlighted in yellow to indicate the 30 days notice. The manager at Gold's Gym Newburgh is coward. I repeat A COWARD. He refuse to see me or call me back to understand the situation. He has totally ruin any chance that I will ever rejoin his gym or any other Gold Gym's establishment. I will continue to let everyone know about my experience until I hear back from this COWARD or someone from Gold's Gym contacts me to resolve this situation read more

I've been working out 3-5x a week since college with results that kept sliding closer and closer to the "overweight" category, then into what WebMD tells me is "obese"! Body Pump and Gold's Gym with Dante, John, Martina, Moses, and everyone really made the difference. I'm sure you read the words "changed my life" but I have to share this with you: The month I joined, I had taken my girlfriend to a state park for horseback riding, and, no kidding, the attendants told me they might not have a horse that could carry me. "We have a 250lb limit," they told me. It was humiliating when, that August, I climbed on a scale at the state park and the attendant looked down at my 283, sighing, "well, we have one draft horse that we can puut you on...." Well, that experience is behind me. I joined Gold's, and, while it's a daily set of choices that I make to be healthy, I have been as low as the 190s, well more than halfway of my goal to reaching a "normal" body-mass index. When I joined, all my clothes were XXL. Now I wear L, and it's getting a little loose! The men and women of Gold's make a huge difference in my life. That girlfriend, she's now my wife, and we work out together every chance we get, in Pump, Spin, and the Cardio Cinema and the pool. Thank you, Gold's Gym! read more

Great gym. I've enjoyed membership intermittently since 1989. Ownership is constantly making improvements. The facility was expanded and renovated within the past 10 years. The equipment is so well maintained, you'd never know I remember most of it from back in '89. The staff is ALWAYS helpful and friendly. Since there are toooo many varied activities, numerous classes, programs and amenities for me to mention here, it would be an injustice for me to even try. I've never seen so many different exercise machines and/or equipment in a gym before. The place is huge so even during busy hours there's still plenty of room for you to get a mostly uninterrupted workout in. Gym is very clean, and the equipment always works. I've never paid an additional maintenance fee before at any other gyms, but this gym is also much better than the others I've belonged to (LA Fitness, Planet Fitness) so even if it is more expensive you're at least getting your monies worth. read more

I came back to Golds because my health insurance offered the Silver Sneakers program. I had been going to Planet Fitness but they didn't participate in it. I had been a member 15 years ago and while there is more equipment,it seems unorganized.There are more classes,except now you have to pay for most of them.Still, there is enough to occupy every fitness level. The ladies locker room is a disgrace,it's the same old carpet,benches,cracked mirrors and broken lockers.I went to the new Middletown club,and I wish I lived closer to that club.That's what Newburgh needs to do to its locker room. As for staff, Juan gave me a intro training session and he is fantastic,easy to talk to,to understand. He is a great trainer.Newburgh needs a face lift,but it's still a good place to get your sweat on. read more

These guys are morons. Heres the deal: My wife and I were in town visiting from California. My sister and her fiancé were looking for a gym to sign up at. We all printed out the "7 day trial membership" passes. My wife and I provide the address where my family lives (a mere 10 miles away) but are upfront about being here on vacation for the summer. We were denied entrance into the gym because we didn't live "local". They told us to read the fine print on the pass. I did that, and it said nothing about having to be local. The guy behind the check in counter then refers to the "other restrictions may apply" notation on the pass. Then tells us we can workout for the day for $25 each! Yeah, like I'm gonna pay 50 bucks for 2 people to workout for an hour and a half. "Kyle" then comes over and repeats the same thing. The thing I find to be odd: at no time did these people even entertain the fact that my sister and her fiancé were there to check the gym out and likely sign up, had everything looked good. Instead, they focus on making it clear that two of us can't use the trial pass. They make no attempt to go through the motions of "selling" the gym to my sister and her fiancé. My sister and her fiancé left that place having decided they weren't going to pay golds gym Newburgh $110 a month if the business doesn't care to sell their gym to them. They would have signed up had they honored all the 7 day passes. Seems to me like it would have been smart business to let 2 people use the 7 day passes, if it meant 2 other people were going to sign up. Needless to say, they are now planet fitness members. I haven't been able to find a better gym in the Hudson Valley. There are machines covering every surface of this huge gym. You can workout the entire month and never use the same machine twice. The movie theatre aerobics room is great not only for the movies but also the freezing air conditioning. The locker room is not a highlight but the showers and lockers work. I haven't used the pool or the childcare but they got that here too. I just wish it was open 24 hours. read more

This gym wasn't as nice as the ones I am used to. Many of the machines were fairly older and if you forget your towel they charge you $2 to rent one and give you one dollar back when you return it. I don't see how a gym can't have spare towels for customers free of charge. What was nice though was that they have two separate gym areas. So if one is full then you can move to the other one. They do have a sauna and steam room which is a nice touch too. read more

Still my favorite gym. It's nice to have a variety of straight bars and ez curl bars in some 2.5 pound increments. Not many of the clubs I have been to offer that. I like being around other gym-goers who take working out seriously. I suppose it could be intimidating for novices but the numerous classes and nice trainers are helpful for beginners! read more

Gym layout is so strange - they have this indoor track that cuts through the weight floor. They got a rogue squat rack/rig which is awesome. Great functional lifting space where you can deadlift/oly lift, calisthenics etc. awesome group fitness classes. Too bad Lagrange and fishkill members can't go there for free anymore. Really bad communication around that, but from the way it was explained to me, LG and FK are at fault. read more

To start with on any given day I have a complaint about something,(hence only four stars). We can all review the machines, the cleanliness, and the instructors, ( the best in the Valley), but everyone has done that. Let us talk about the club. People care. The staff cares. The members care. They hug you when you are sad. They rejoice your triumphs. They miss you when you are gone. Sometimes you might even get a well-intentioned scolding. Great gym. I travel for work and I have worked out at numerous franchise gyms from coast to coast (24 hr, Golds, LA Fit, NYSC, Retro, etc..) Newburgh Gold's is easily my favorite. I used to live in the area and was a member for years. I have since moved away. That being said, I still make a point of dropping in for a workout when I get a chance. I get a sense of nostalgia each time. Staff and members alike say hello and catch up. To echo what the reviewer Carole D. said "...big crazy family which you are privileged to be a part of." They even host a great holiday party each year with members and staff! Great staff, stacked with equipment, and overall an awesome facility. Plenty of bars, weights, and machines for everyone to use even during peak hours. I would highly recommend this location to everyone from your class-goer and weekend warrior to your competing athlete. read more

Great gym, with lots of options available for whatever your fitness needs are. The trainers are absolutely amazing!! Allison in particular is a fantastic trainer who helped me get back in shape. She is great at analyzing and diagnosing where muscle imbalances are and coming up with ways of fixing them. The group classes are wonderful, if a bit crowded, and the staff is really hard working. Loads better than other gyms I've been to in the area. You defintely get what you pay for. read more

Absolute best gym I have ever been in. It is very clean and there is so much to do. There is even a room just for women in here. The women's changing room was so big and clean. There were saunas in there and so many showers. The upstairs had a cardio theater as well and other private rooms that you could rent. It was absolutely amazing. It is unfortunately out of budget though but I'm not docking my rating because of that. The only actual issue I did find was that every once in awhile, the pool would be unusable and I really enjoyed the water Zumba classes they offered. Then we'd hop in the hot tub after that class. It was just a shame that every once in awhile (For some reason, I do not know why), the pool would just be unusable. read more

Parking always seems to be an issue. Dont like the new changes at all, less weights and workout areas for members who are not in any personal training programs. Drinking water there also has warnings on it and taste horrible. read more

As a bikini competitor and having a extremely busy business schedule my training is lengthy and has to be done early in the morning. They seem to lack the management to have this gym open on time. There has been many mornings that members have been waiting outside the gym at 5am. This is a huge problem!! Investing money into renovating this gym is pointless if it is under poor management! read more

Great gym, crappy policies. I have been a member for about a year now, the staff is always friendly and the equipment is well maintained. However, in the the past years we have seen man gyms adopt policies that are member friendly...such as 1 free guest per visit, ONE FREE MONTH trial VIP passes, one free week of personal training, low or NO down payment to join all with monthly prices that are lower than $30/month. This gym may have one day been the best in this area...but once a NYSC or RetroFitness comes to the Newburgh area they will be toast. Also, don't expect to find a parking space between January-April as the parking lot cannot accommodate all of the New Years Resolution folks. read more

The staff deserve 5 stars, but the facility earns only two. This place could be great, but they continually skimp on important things. Starting at the front door, the steps are slippery when it rains and the handrails are metal that get burning hot in the sun. When they attempted to renovate the ladies locker room, they removed some of the carpeting and installed tiles that are slippery when wet. And they won't put down enough rubber mats to cover the floor. Why are the handicapped showers the furthest away from the door? And why are the hooks in the handicapped shower stalls over the safety bars so that when you hang your towels they cover them so you can't hold onto the bar? Something is always broken or out of service. Maybe the pool is closed or the water isn't heated, or the hot tub is closed, or the steam or sauna is not working, or the AC in the Lady Golds workout room doesn't work. And oops, they over-chlorinated the pool so now your bathing suits and pool shoes are faded and falling apart. They apparently use their in-house maintenance people so it takes forever for repairs to be completed. It just seems as though they can't or won't provide proper oversight of their physical plant, which is such a shame. They try to keep up with the newest fitness trends and offer great classes with terrific instructors, but it's crazy to have to put up with these issues at the prices they charge. read more

It is horrible when u pay an employee with a great job while the manager and owner are standing there and manager comes back with..She is not the only cleaner so it should b clean everyday. I wasn't speaking of other women cleaner. I was speaking of Jody. It makes me feel horrible for her. She busts her ass in that place but they just don't seem to care. Gold's Gym has a lot of nice features (pool, basketball court, smoothie bar, a cardio theather). The atmosphere is inviting and friendly. Although the membership fees seem a bit pricey at first, the classes alone are worth the money. As far as the classes go, my favorites are RPM and Body Pump. I am looking forward to trying Yoga and Boxing in the near future. Gold's has become a part of my routine that I always look forward to. read more

I have spoken with a Golds Gym representative about moving and told them I will not be in the area. I informed them of this when I was reporting trip hazards and violations that were in the rest room. I was also informing them of the need to get cleaning supplies so members can clean off the equipment they use. This gym has little to no care of cleanliness. I even saw dried blood on the boxing equipment and refused to use those bags. They ensured me that they will take care of it and, for the billing, I should only see a bill for the one more month. Their affiliates "ABC" is stating I will continue to be charged until I go to the gym to fill out paper work. I was not told by the Golds gym employee about this paper work when I left. I am no longer in the area and cannot go fill out any paper work. I also cancelled my membership and find it troubling that they will try and take advantage of people like this. read more

Signing up was easy but canceling your membership is a nightmare. I had to go back 5 times to try and cancel which is a right every member should have but each time I tried to cancel I was turned away. No one could help me. Every time I tried to cancel, the person at the desk would tell me that whoever is responsible for canceling memberships was not around. So I learned my lesson, the next time I called prior to walking in, and I asked whoever answered the phone if the "sales representative" in charge of canceling memberships was around. Her response was the person was there and won't be leaving until 5 PM. I told her that I will be coming in to cancel my membership and will be there in under 20 minutes. I got there in 15 minutes at 4:30 PM and I was told by a woman at the desk that the "sales representative" was gone for the day. So I complained and explained that I was advised that I would be helped and her response was the person in charge was not there. I was so upset and started yelling. She spoke with the man at the counter next to her and the man called me to his desk and cancelled my membership in under 3 minutes. So the person who could cancel memberships was actually there but just didn't want to do his job. I had to yell to be helped and this was out of extreme frustration of not being helped after 5 attempts at trying to cancel my membership. So be careful when join, because they will make it difficult for you to cancel your membership. read more
