The women‑only room at Gold's Gym is like discovering a quiet side inside a very loud video game. You step out of the main gym, where plates cling and clang, mirrors flex back at you, and someone is always deadlifting like they are an Olympic qualifier. Out of no where ...quiet...absolute quiet. This space feels intentionally designed for women. The equipment is well‑chosen, practical, and not confiscated by someone powering through workout sets. You can actually get through a workout without feeling rushed, stared at, or compelled to guard your weights like a like a mall guard on Black Friday. The environment reeks supportive but blissfully low‑pressure. No grunting (what's up with this anyways?), no unsolicited feedback, no awkward competing for time on a machine. Just people showing up, doing their thing, and letting everyone else do the same. It's refreshing especially on days when you want to train hard without navigating distractors in the main portion of the gym. It's also a confidence builder. You are not competing with hundreds of people. You are lifting heavy weights, learning new movements, or easing back into your tried and true routine. The women-only room is judgment‑free and welcoming. No one's watching you. You are doing what you came to do...workout!

They have definitely given this place an upgrade since the last time I came here. It's fresher and neater overall. The staff has always been nice, and the machines tend to be clean. Most members have the courtesy to wipe their machines and dumbells down right after using them, I know I do. There are a lot of features this location has that I do not use. There's an indoor basketball court, which I think is important in Texas, the high was 86 today and we're only in March. They have a women's only section for workouts too. And now there is a sauna that's available for use! I would have definitely given that a go had I planned ahead of time.

I was visiting AF in Texas Round rock and, while the facility itself has potential, my experience…read moreraised serious concerns about fairness, communication, and overall professionalism. I was reminded by Sergi to return a farmer's rack to its proper place, which I understand and take responsibility for. Once it was explained, I made it clear that I would follow protocol moving forward. However, what I found unnecessary was the constant follow up through text messages. Even after acknowledging the issue and agreeing to correct it, I continued to receive a second reminder. At that point, it stopped feeling like a simple clarification and started to feel like harassment. On top of that, there is a larger issue with equipment access. There is only one Smith machine, and during my workout it was occupied for an extended period by a trainer and her group. When I raised the concern, I was told by Sergi that trainers have priority because their clients pay both a training fee and a membership. As a paying visitor, that was frustrating to hear. Whether someone is a member or a guest, everyone is paying to use the facility and should have reasonable access to equipment. First come first serve is understandable, but allowing one group to dominate a single high demand machine without rotation makes it difficult for others to complete their workouts. I was told I could ask to work in, which I will do next time, but there should also be some level of awareness and courtesy from trainers and their groups when using limited equipment. Additionally, the ladies made the environment extremely loud, which made it difficult to focus and train effectively. I am more than willing to respect gym policies, but I also expect clear, respectful communication and fair access to equipment in return. Hopefully Mr. Sergi takes a closer look at both how members are addressed and how shared space is managed, because the current approach does not reflect well on the gym.

I joined for the classes, but there are some inconsistencies with the quality there. Pros: -Amar's Zumba class on Saturdays. Her routines are high energy, and her song selection is perfect, so you get a good workout. She's excellent, so it's understandable why the class is always packed! -Annette's Tuesday evening Body Works Plus Abs. She is very intense with the repeating intervals with no breaks in between, but you leave feeling accomplished! Cons: -Some of the classes are slow, and you feel as though you did nothing afterwards. I overheard other members with the same sentiment. For example, the Monday/Wednesday evening Zumba is too low energy. I felt like I hadn't done anything. Same with the Friday morning Zumba instructor. Cycle instructor on Monday is not intense enough, and they play the same 5 songs over and over (some of which are pretty lame). -Annette is leaving, so that Tuesday evening class will have major shoes to fill. The only thing I want to change about that class is the music- it's cheesy remixes that are not inspiring at all! - This past Thursday, I waited 20 minutes after start time with 5 other people for the Body Works instructor to show up. She never did. I remember her from when I used to come in pre-COVID. She is a good instructor who is not too intense, but she often showed up late. A 20 min. wait is ridiculous, though. The gym should have better communication with the instructors. "No one called in" is not good enough- call them! -Also, I echo what others have said about Victor. He is pushy as hell. I told him multiple times I wasn't interested in signing anyone up for a guest pass. He continued. The fool should just be glad I'M signing up for a membership! Overall, the gym is fine, I just wish there was a better selection for classes. I just want to get what I pay for. I typically come in at least 3 times a week.

Tonight I went in and went to use a calf machine, and there was no pen to load the weights on it, I went to the front desk and the young man there said oh yeah we know about that you gotta talk to the manager tomorrow or maintenance and I said, "don't you want to write a note down about the machine number? He goes "huh...". So I went over to the sales guy that was still there and asked him if he could do anything about it and he said "I don't care. I'm just a sales guy." He went on to say "If you want to get anything done, you need to take time off and come back to the gym between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm to talk to the manager. He would even take note. This is terrible Customer Service. Terrible maintenance, and it makes me completely regret that I signed up with these guys just over a month ago. I'm now on the hunt to find something much better than this. Unless there is a serious change in their attitude about equipment maintenance, I discourage anyone from signing up here.

It matters that they call your name out when you're working hard. It means they see you and they care to pump you up and encourage you to keep going or to fix your form if it is off to avoid injuries and to make sure you get the best results. Buuuttt...you know there's a BUT, they've lost a gem of a coach and got replaced with one that is so-so. Don't get me wrong. Maybe because they're new or still getting the hang of things. But if you come in and introduce the exercises to a class without knowing what muscles are targeted by what exercise, or what the exercise is called, perhaps you might still need coaching yourself. And also the class is waiting on queues to get excited and encouraged still during the whole circuit which I don't hear or see from the new coach. Will I go back? Of course! But I'm hoping the coach will step it up and not just walk around but also encourage us as we're sweating and working hard. If the coach isn't excited to be there, it shows through their performance as well! ‍
