We had a longstanding pigeon problem that developed on the roof of our house in North Las Vegas. Two regular roosting pigeons blossomed into three, then four, and in the course of eight weeks five. As it turned out, a pigeon nest had been built in the open end of a rain gutter that had been added to our home a year ago. On a neighbor's recommendation, Goldstar Services was called in to help. Its owner, Eric Stolz, is commonly referred to as the "pigeon whisperer." I had telephonic contact with him, but his assistant came out to do the work. The able assistant found and dismantled the nest, pressure washed the roof, closed off the open gutter with steel mesh, and on various areas of the roof placed several additional bird control spikes (a few were already present), a length of blinding reflective tape, and some "hot foot" gel. This helped to displace the pigeon couple and their three offspring to other areas of the roof. But the stubborn birds kept coming back in the late afternoon to roost on non-spiked peaks and elevated pipes on the roof. So, Goldstar Services was called again, and as promised, without levying any additional charge came out and put in place more spikes and another length of reflective tape, until the roof was bristling with bird control spikes. It took about four more weeks, but finally the pigeon family decided that better and much more comfortable roosting sites could be found elsewhere. Neither they nor other pigeons have been spotted on our roof since then. There were a few problems. The first scheduled service call was flat-out forgotten by the company, and no one showed up until I called to inquire about the missed appointment. And, while bird poop was pressure washed off the roof, after the technician left I had to clean off by myself the metal front gate on which some of it fell. The second time, service was delayed by a flat tire. But to its credit, the company came out the same day of the initial scheduled appointment once the scheduling error was realized. And, the technician timely called to report the delay due to the need to fix a flat tire on the service truck. The price quoted was very reasonable--much less than two other companies demanded. And the work was professionally done, and eventually got the desired result: no more filthy cooing pigeons on the roof! A solid four stars overall! read more

We had been having a pigeon problem for awhile and needed to do something about it. It was actually an Angie's List deal that was offered that we purchased, and gladly. We were contacted quickly to schedule an appointment within a few days. We had a standard 4 hour window, and on the day of service, the phone call stating the tech was on the way was even a bit early. Our house was power washed to remove pigeon gross and the spikes were placed (which we can hardly even see - pretty inconspicuous) and the owner even came by to make sure there were no other problem spots (basically to back up his tech, who was also amazing). There was even great care taken to make sure my dog didn't get out (they had to access the hose in the backyard). I would very highly recommend Goldstar for all pigeon problems. Eric came by to assess my pigeon problem...after cleaning the roof (power washed) they put up spikes and screens to keep the pigeons out of the area they were nesting. A few weeks later they (the pigeons) relocated to another part of the roof...I called Eric who came out the next day...he serviced that area....at no additional cost. When he finished he said "let me know if you have any problems but that should take care of it." You can't beat that for service... read more

Eric is the man! Marla at the office is awesome too. She texted and kept me posted the entire time. They were also half the price of another estimate I got. One estimate wanted $350 for a 30min job. Ridiculous. Eric added $40 to do the other side that needed a cage while the other guy was going to charge $175 even though he was already going to be on the roof. Eric was not shady like the other guy and extremely fair in his estimate. They did a great job the first time out and responded right away. Keep in mind they are very busy because they are awesome.....so sometimes the scheduling is tight. I also live close to their office so time frames will vary for others of course. Unfortunately one of the pigeons was stuck and I kept hearing him trying to escape. I practically begged them to come out ASAP because I didn't want it to die as it had been trapped for about a week. Eric came out the next day on a Sunday! Thanks Eric. He made a special trap door so the pigeon could escape but couldn't get back in. Unless you have a serious emergency and literally can't wait for them, go with GoldStar! They email you the receipts and take payment by phone. Eric and Marla are both just cool people. These guys are awesome! I had a big pigeon problems t my house due to my pool. The pigeons loved drinking the water in my pool then go straight to my roof and where they would do there business. they cleaned all the bird droppings from my roof and then put spikes screened off the eves so they couldn't come back. They also colored the spikes and screens the same color of my house and I can barley tell that there on my house. They also created a spa guard for a portion of my pool where the birds were drinking the water in my pool. They did all that a fair price. I had a big pigeon problem so it was a little more than normal jobs but still the cheapest in town. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who has a pigeon problem. read more

I called to get an estimate of for pigeon proofing our roof in the middle of May and they came over that day (good). It took several days to get a written estimate out of Eric (I get it, he was busy), and he got me an estimate. Eric and Kevin came on a Friday, but Eric left and Kevin finished later that day. I went up on the roof the next day and the roof wasn't cleaned up. It was full of all the pieces of cut metal fencing they used to pigeon proof the roof. I picked up as much as I could, but there was a lot under areas that I couldn't reach. There were also a couple of broken tiles that weren't broken before. I called and left them a msg about the mess on the roof and it took them a few days to get back to me. Someone (not Eric, the owner) returned the call and asked when they could come by to clean it up. I told them I already cleaned up the metal pieces I could reach, but I'd like to talk w Eric to resolve the problem. After a week, I called Eric and left a msg. He called me back that day and we talked about the problem. He apologized for the lack of clean up and taking so long to return my call which I appreciated. He asked if they could come by and make sure the roof was cleaned up, so we set a date/time and Kevin came back for the clean up. Kevin was also very apologetic. I told him if he would've just said 'I'll be back to clean it up later but it's Friday at 6:30 and I'm done for the day' then I would've been ok with it. I'm glad they finally got it all cleaned up and the tiles fixed. I realize they're a small company with a lot of work and not enough time on some days. Eric and Kevin are good guys and they do good work, but in this case it took longer than I would've liked to get it done right. In the end, I'd use them again. read more

I first spoke to Eric and Scott and explained that we had been having a terrible problem with pigeons since earlier this year. They had taken up residence under the solar screens on our roof and were extremely noisy as well as made an awful mess of our backyard where their droppings had become a daily clean up project. The birds also liked to bathe and drink from the little cutout that connects our Jacuzzi to the swimming pool so the decking around the pool was also constantly a mess. Our first conversation was on Monday and on Tuesday, Scott contacted me say that their tech, Derick would be out first thing Wednesday morning. Derick arrived at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday morning and within 30 minutes had surveyed our roof and backyard and had a plan and quote for work to be performed. Derick was back out Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. and had the job completed by around 11:00 that morning. He power washed all the debris and droppings on our roof under the solar screens, completely cleaned all of the fallen debris from our back and side yards, and then installed fencing around the entire perimeter of the solar screens so the birds can no longer nest under them. He also crafted a small fencing that he placed over the cutout at the pool so the birds can no longer perch there to bathe or drink. All work was done on time, as promised, and very professionally. Now, only 2 days later, the birds have moved on. Scott even called me the next day to follow up and make sure we were satisfied.
