Took the waitress' advice and only got a single and I couldn't even finish it, while my 13 year old son managed to eat two giant chocolate chip pancakes and his side of bacon (where does it go??). Husband got an omelette and a biscuit and gravy and enjoyed all of it. They had a huge party of 12 in there which made it a little loud, but service was speedy still. We stopped on our way back from Myrtle Beach en route to Raleigh and it was a great choice! Nice and friendly!

The restaurant was m pretty packed on arrival. There was only 1 clean booth open. There was a large table but it needed to be cleaned. We opted to wait for the table to be cleaned due to us being a party of 5. We were seated around 11:55am and given paper menus and silverware. The menu was a little dirty as it had spots on it. Around 12:03pm, waitress took order. They didn't have a kids menu available for breakfast. Waitress said it was pancakes and fries or fruit, I believe... The kids menu for lunch items is on the menu already. I got the pancake and 2 tenders with a side of home fries. After ordering, I noticed the use paper/plastic bowls and plates for the food of customers who were already eating. I thought this was definitely different. However, it is easy clean up. The food came at 12:25pm. One of my pancakes was over cooked on one side.. however, the home fries were delicious. I ended up getting a second pancake because I thought my order came with two, but it worked out since my first one crappy. The 2nd pancake was nice and golden! With the plastic plates.. they gave me a plate with sections for my pancake... that's not very conducive to cutting and eating a pancake. This restaurant definitely gives me diner vibes. I can tell it's a popular small town place that is often frequented by the locals. The service, in my opinion, was a little slow especially as it was not as busy once we were sat. I think this could be due to being short staffed. If I'm ever in the area again, I would stop by again!

Bottom line: This visit to Melton's for takeout has some disappointments in an extremely long wait…read moreand fries being a bit mushy when eaten. The burger itself with mustard, slaw, chili did the trick and was pretty good. The Deets: I've had a few experiences with Melton's in Elizabethtown, the majority of which have been breakfast biscuits/sandwiches. They have been enjoyable in past visits. We decided this year when coming home from the beach and passing through E'town to grab some lunch to go at Melton's. I have to say, this visit did not hold up to past visits. When going in, it pretty much is what you would expect from a fast food type restaurant. Beyond the usual lit up menu over the ordering counter/register, there are a lot of printed paper items taped up all around as well, looking like they were possibly printed from an inkjet printer. We had a few customers in front of us that ordered then we placed our order to go, then waited. And waited. Yes, waited more. It was a long time, very much more than expected. I'm not sure what took so long, not only for us but other people that were waiting around us. Upon receiving my hamburger with mustard, slaw, chili, hold the onions, I was hungry indeed. The burger itself was pretty good. However the fries, they were not done to a crispy finish on the outside and were rather, mushy, in texture is the only word I can find...a bit disappointing. Enjoying this burger, as well as figuring good visits in the past, but disappointed by the very long wait and the fries not being crispy on the outside, I have to go 3 stars this time.

I have never saw such a beautiful chicken sandwich, let alone sub. They take their fried chicken and put it on the hoagie roll. It was huge and both of the people I was with think they are absolutely Amazing. The pricing was unbelievable for the amount of food you get, too. They picked up so I didn't see the inherit of the place.

My aunt and cousin joined in on the fun, and it was my cousin's first time as well. Some in our party got the meatloaf, and exclaimed over how delicious it was. I got the parm chicken with rice, which was a little dried out and disappointing. Enter Yoder's cabbage and Dutch potato sides to save the day! Both were absolutely delicious! The cabbage was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. I was delighted to find they were spicy, with visible red pepper flakes. The Dutch potatoes were creamy and cheesy...a new fave! The roll with the cinnamon butter was a treat indeed. And the tea? We like ours half & half...delivered in big cups with extra ice just the way we like it! I also got an English Toffee Latte to go...and it did not disappoint. Neither did the waitstaff, who were friendly, engaging and ensured our food was delivered with a smile. We left with slices of chocolate, coconut cream, and pecan caramel pie, a loaf of sourdough, and a mocha brownie treat for later. Ohhhh, and a ginormous cinnamon roll, cause why not?! The interior of Yoder's restaurant is a rustic place with a lovely shop to wander through while you wait to be seated. They have a lovely bird in the store that will sing you a song and tell you what the cat and the rooster say. So charming! All in all, I've been hearing about Yoder's for years and years...and it did not disappoint! Can't wait for a return visit!

After arriving a few minutes early we were told it would be "a bit" before they could seat us. "A bit" turned out to be more than an hour and even then they sat us at multiple tables throughout the restaurant. After being seated, we were promptly ignored. Fifteen more minutes went by before our sullen, unpleasant server took our drink orders and eventually our breakfast orders. She was not only extremely slow and inattentive, but blatantly disrespectful to one member of our party by rolling her eyes and making gestures when she thought we couldn't see her. Once our order was placed, we waited then waited more. We had decided to leave if our food had not arrived by 12pm and go to Bojangles in Vanceboro, but at 11:50, over three hours after arriving, our food finally showed up. My omelet was enormous and overflowing with ground sausage. It was OK, but would have been better with less sausage. My shredded hash browns were cold. The biscuit that accompanied the omelet was cold and hard. My dining companion liked her french toast, but noted her eggs, though properly prepared over medium, were cold. Same goes for her home fries. However, the buttery syrup, served with her french toast, was served warm and was absolutely amazing. Wow! It made my biscuit edible and was the best part of our meals. The restaurant is attached to a hardware store in a rural part of Craven County. It definitely has a country vibe and was spotless. Incredibly slow and disrespectful service combined with OK-at-best food make it difficult to recommend Voder's Dutch Pantry in any capacity to anyone.
