Can't really complain about this place. I've seen the building change names many times but the inside stays the same. Prices aren't too bad but the place is seriously lacking in staffing. For Christmas, I received a gift certificate to Golfsmith. I finally got around to going there for the purpose of getting fitted for a hybrid golf club. I did not make an appointment so I had to wait for about half an hour. But I got to hit some balls with different hybrids and kind of narrowed it down to a few before someone came to video how I hit the ball. After analyzing a few hits with 4 clubs, I settled on an Adams 3 hybrid. I used it last week and probably will never use a long iron again. read more

I have always had nothing but the best customer service at this location. I'm always greeted upon my visits and the staff is always friendly and informative. I have worked the most with Royce who always helps me with my needs and makes sure that the items I buy are the correct items and I'm not wasting money or time. This is specifically about the guys in the virtual range that help with club fitting. I came in today fully ready to spend $500 on a set of irons. Specifically, the Taylormade M2 set that I had been eyeing for some time now. I grabbed the 7 iron off the wall and took it to the back to get it taped up and swing it a few times to get a feel for them. As I approached the back I was greeted with a "Yuck!" by the older employee back there, to which I responded with " Ohh, is there something wrong with these irons?" Expecting a professional and objective response he says, "I hate Taylormade!". I ask why, still giving him the benefit of the doubt, and he snobbily responds "They're not Callaway, I'm sponsored by them!". I told him to find me a Callaway set that could compete with these clubs in a similar price range. He laughs me off and walks away. After hitting several balls with no assistance another older employee walks by. I stop him to ask what he thinks about the irons and if he thinks they are a good set for the price. He says "meh, they're alright, too light for me though" and then walks off on me. It seems these two men did their best not to sell a set of irons today. Overall, I'm incredibly dissapointed with my experience today, these two men were very unapproachable, unhelpful, and didn't even give me objective answers to my few questions about the clubs I was ready to purchase. read more

After a club fitting session at a local golf course, I came here to change the lie on my current irons and wedges. The service person told me the adjustment may leave marks on my clubs. As long as the marks were not too severe or affect the playability of my clubs I was ok with that. A few days later, my irons were ready as promised. I asked if it was ok to hit my irons using one of their hitting bays and he said yes. It was great to use a launch monitor to check on what each iron's carry distance may be after the lie adjustment. I was able to hit every iron and test out some demo irons for a comparison without being bothered by a sales person. When I did need to ask a sales person about a demo iron, he was very helpful and answered my questions without trying to pressure me into buying anything or making a golf club fitting appointment. read more

Great experience -- Paul Bayhouse approached my husband and me and asked if we needed any assistance. At first we declined, then realized we had no idea what we were doing, so we flagged him down and asked for help selecting appropriate clubs for my husband. Paul was extremely helpful, beyond any sales associate interaction we had ever experienced. He spent a good deal of time with us, providing advice, tips, and assessing my husband's swing and techniques. Paul helped him find great deals on all the clubs he ended up purchasing and he feels much more prepared to go golfing this coming weekend. This store is Awesome! This is probably the biggest golf store I have seen in the bay area. If you are looking for something big or small I'm sure you will find it in this store. They have everything you will need to improve your game including PGA instruction from GolfTEC. The GolfTEC instructors are very knowledgeable about the golf swing and even gave me a free 15 minute demo. I got the demo from Bryan Padua who is a PGA member and he quickly pointed out a swing fault for me to work on. They use video, motion sensors on the body, tour pro comparisons, launch monitors, and even put their lessons online. Give it a try if your looking for good golf instruction. read more

The customer service is TERRIBLE. Sure, one gal at the register greets you when you enter the store, but then after that, ALL of the employees ignore you. We wandered around the store for about 15 minutes and NO ONE came up to ask if we needed help. There were 4 employees standing at the registers doing nothing. So, finally, we went up to the register and waited in line to ask for help. We heard the gal at the register ask the customer, "Who helped you today?" which is quite surprising because IF we had bought anything there, we would have said nobody. It was finally our turn and we inquired about the golf GPS. The gal turned to an elderly man who was one of the 4 employees standing around doing nothing and asked him if he could help us, to which he replied, "No, I don't know anything about the GPS." And then he turned away. He didn't bother saying that he would find someone who is knowledgeable or find us other help. He just turned away. So, finally an employee tried to help us, however he didn't know what he was talking about so we left. We will never go back there. I am shocked that the management doesn't train the employees on better customer service skills. A BIG disappointment because it did look like the store had a lot to offer. read more

Amazing place! Friendly customer service! My husbands favorite place to buy golf equipment.

We had a extremely negative experience here. I came with my boyfriend to get his club fixed. The process seemed easy and they said it would be fixed within the week and to come back by a certain day. We came back on the day they told us to, and come to find that his club was missing. First off, we should off received a call regarding this information instead of being blindsided and wasting our time driving out there. Second, not once did they apologize for this mix up or inconvenience. Eric, the club shop specialist, acted like it was no big deal and acted like he was doing us a favor by "allowing" my boyfriend to borrow a club until they located it. Almost 10 days later, he gets a voicemail stating they have not heard about the club and if he can come by with the specs of the club so they can order him a new one. We had been out of town, so we finally went in to give that information and then they tell us someone finally turned it in. They claimed they left a voicemail regarding this information, but we double checked and had no voicemail about this. I let the manager know their customer service needed a lot of improvement and that this was an extremely frustrating process. Each club has the receipt and information of the customer attached to it when they are being repaired. There is no excuse for the mix up to have even happened on the first place. Nothing was offered to make up for this inconvenience and if I was the manager you should have at least offered a discount or reimbursement for the cost of repairing it due to all the issues they caused. The only the manager did right was apologize. We definitely will not be coming back here. read more

This store is fantastic. The employees are helpful and extremely knowledgeable. I came in looking for a fathers day present and was approached by young employee. He asked me a few questions and gave me some recommendations. I am totally oblivious to the game of golf but the employee gave me a lot of information about the clubs and about the technology. I walked away from the store by purchasing a new taylormade R11 driver, and may come back to get myself one. Highly recommend this store. read more

These guys really suck! I took my clubs to get the shafts redone, they not only fail to fixture the new shaft with my specs. They also damaged my new shaft and offered very weak and stupid excuse. If you want custom work done, take it to your club pro. These guys are not professionally competent and will waste your money. The only thing I would trust them do is grips. Nothing else. read more

The prices are good, the service is spotty. A great place to go into the back of the store and hit balls into the computer screen, if you are lucky the salesman with the Scottish accent will help you out as he has a really thorough understanding of all the different equipment in the marketplace. read more

I have gotten my tennis racquet restrung here a couple of times and I must say the experience was poor. The folks there were not knowledgeable about the different types of guts they had on sale, and I ended up buying poor quality guts both times. Also, the quality of restringing was also quite poor, and the gut didn't last long either time. I have since moved on to other stores dedicated to tennis to get restringing done. read more

this is a great store to go to if you know what you are looking for. do not expect to get tips or help from the employees as they are all basically morons. selection is huge so do your homework first, go in and get what you want and you wont be disappointed. nice big selection of used clubs too which you can try out using their practice driving area. look out for their tents sales too. you can usually find some steals. read more

My recent experience last night at Golfsmith was hands down tremendous. I have been in the customer service industry for over a decade and the trip made to this location was just grade A. Alejandro was one of the best reps i have come across. I am getting back into golfing and have been out of the loop for quite some time, he the the time to explain everything to me and what i should look into getting. I had my heart set on the Ping G series, he showed me other irons that he personally tried out and told me the pros and cons of each set the Steelheads by Calloway is a great set and i am considering them. He went over getting fitted and what i should do when i am ready to pull the trigger on my new set of clubs. When you shop here ask for Alejandro he is very personable and greets every customer that walks in and definitely wears more than one hat in this place, very, very great experience last night at Golfsmith!! read more

I see some other reviews that talk about poor salesmanship, but based on my experience it must depend on who you get. I went in last Monday and spoke with Paul. He was extremely knowledgeable and very easy going. I didn't feel any pressure to buy, he just asked me questions about my game and figured out what I needed based on my answers. The store has a great selection of clubs and accessories. I'll definitely be back when I need more gloves, tees, and golf balls! read more

If you want to learn golf fast try here from 3 months deal cause after that you will be better off at the golf field and golf range for the practice. My husband i am taking 1 year lessons here and referred at least 6 people here all pleased with the results. However, if you can not practice at least two or three times a week for the lesson its not worth your money. My only issue is it doesn't get any cheaper even after the whole year lessons simply cannot afford them even with the specials i dont understand why. read more

I love coming here at least once a week to check out their used golf club selection. Prices are great especially with their used selection. I have bought a few new clubs from them and they have a great warranty service. I've broken my driver shaft after I had a new shaft installed by them and brought it in and they fixed it free of charge as I had only been out with it a few times. I love dealing with Paul as he's a very knowledgeable man and will give you his honest opinion on what works and what doesn't for your game. Had a wonderful experience at Golfsmith yesterday! Had a reservation for a fitting with Joseph. He was very patient and very helpful (I'm a novice golfer). It is very intimidating to start a new sport and he was very encouraging. We drove up from Hollister, and it was well worth the drive. read more
