Alejandro answered all our questions, showed us a bunch of clubs and also recommended a few based on our swings at the fitting studio. They may have lots in stock but the service is terrible. We had to chase down employees when we were obviously holding broken golfclubs that needed reshafting. The employees were standing around doing things that were low priority (reorganizing clothing). There is not a section for used women's clubs. I like that you get to try out used clubs in the area and that you can test your swing. The website advertised items that are completely shopped out already. The price for golf clothing is not competitive with websites. Service needs to be stepped up if they want to compete with websites. They must have had at least 6 employees milling around but we had to chase them down for help. read more

Solid value, I shopped eBay and another of other spots for new irons, and these guys had a great price for brand new sticks! Their staff is knowledgeable and helpful....although a bit overwhelmed it seems, once you get a hold of someone though they are solid. Their player rewards program sounds great....but the 15% off you get for joining is only good on...well I am still not sure what I would want that its good for. Anything with a brand name seems to be off limits... I guess you do get invites to demo days, etc though. read more

Wow! This is a great golf store. They have everything you need for your golfing needs: Men, women & children's specific club sets, balls, clothes, shoes, books, DVDs, repair tools, towels, caps, tshirts, push carts, golf course GPS units, dressing rooms. Specialize service in the back area of the store: Club fitting, swing evaluation, in door driving range. Ping, Callaway, Taylor Made, and many other professional golf brands can all be found here. There is also a fairly good section that is dedicated to tennis equipment and apparel in the front portion of the store. read more

Disappointed. Went in to get regripped, and some misc things. Waited almost 10 min, no one there, finally reached out to a woman, who I thought was talking to another customer, turned out to be a vendor..., she helped me. I asked for the grips I saw on their website for $4.95, "we don't seem to have those, but we have these, for $6.79..." Ok. Now it's been more than 20 min and she tells me it'll take another 30, I don't have that much more time, I'm on my lunch. Didn't get the clubs regripped, but I did go shopping for the misc things, didn't find those, either. Not likely to go back anytime soon. read more

I went in to return some shoes and trade in clubs. I used the money to pick up a new wedge. I asked for assistant with the fitting and had the worst service ever. Dude asked me a few basic questions then took me over to the track man and I took a couple swings. He told me I had to swing harder. Then he just walked away without saying a word and never came back. Haha wtf? Sorry I wasn't good enough for you. Then I asked for the managers card at the front. The manager happened to be up there and she didn't even ask what happened! She was just like "my name is Lisa what do you want?" And I said I wanted to provide my feedback. She said "ok" and then walked away. Haha! Clearly customer service is not top of mind here. I would go into more detail about the bad service I had over the past month waiting for my club to be returned from warranty inspection but what's the point? Bottom line....bad service. Well Golf Galaxy you have officially received my first one star review! at least there's one thing you can celebrate. Now before I start I will note that there are a couple good employees that are very personable and helpful but unfortunately they must of had the day off last night. Well last night I went into buy a Taylormade UDI 2 Iron retails $220. Asked an employee if they had any Demos I could try out and without even looking in my direction he says "if its not in the bags we don't have it" so then I ask well could I take one off the rack and try it out? He replies "If we have it you can go look and ill tape it up" Luckily I already knew where they were but he didn't even attempt to help me look. I bring it back over and he seemed like I was annoying him by asking for it to be taped up fortunately he was capable at doing that part at least. Spent around an hour testing out the club and kept stepping out of the bay looking around for an employee to ask a few questions and no one was in sight. Probably did this about 10 different times and still nothing. I really did fall in love with the club and decided I was going to buy it but wanted a different grip put on which is also more money in their pocket but walked around the Grips and still couldn't find a soul. Then went over to the golf bags because I'm also interested in getting a new bag which would be another $200 but still no one to be found! at this point it was getting ridiculous. I understand I'm in my mid 20's with long hair and maybe don't look like i'm going to be spending money, but unfortunately for myself I have become addicted to golf and really cant stop spending money even if i wanted to haha. So after about an hour and a half in the store with little to no help I see some balls on display with a huge sign saying 34.99 for some balls I wanted decided to get the balls and tees and take them to the Register and when I go up the same guy who wouldn't even look me in the eyes asks "No 2 Iron? you didn't like it?" I reply with "oh no I really liked it a lot its exactly the club I need" all i get is "oh" then the fun part is he tries to charge me 48 bucks for the balls that are clearly shown on the sign saying 34.99 then states that those balls aren't included in that price even though the exact ball is listed on the sign. I had to go back to the display and prove to him that it was what the sign said. luckily at this point a manager came over and said they would Honor that 34.99 price so I still ended up getting the balls. The only thing Golf galaxy has going for them is they are one of the only golf stores around to test out clubs but if you actually want help with anything you are better off just going on youtube and learning what you need on there and ordering Online. Amazing customer service! I went to this store to get a tennis racquet for my bf. I didn't know they don't sell tennis stuff anymore. As soon as I enter, Daniel greeted me and asked me if he can help me. He kindly explained me how to choose a tennis racquet despite the fact they don't sell tennis racquet anymore. I recently visited the Stevens Creek store and was happy to see the store had been remodeled. It looks very fresh, clean and well organized. I was looking to purchase a new set of irons. One of the managers helped me and gave me all the information I need without any pressure. (Unfortunately, I can't remember his name) He gave me great advise on irons that he thought would fit my game. He recommended some of the less expensive sets. (Most sales people would try to push me to the more expensive sets) I even got to try them out in their high tech hitting cages. I haven't made my decision on which set to purchase yet, but I will definitely be buy it from Golfsmith. read more

The worst experience of customer service at San Jose store. No one in the store is interested to make sale. Waited for 20 mins to get assistant . A girl working there tried to page several times to get someone there. Finally one associate came and answered my questions and promised to give any same or other brand box for that set as I told him that i am shipping it to India. I took the set to register, askes for any box and paid $1421.86 for the set. Asked the person at register to call associate for the box. He said associate is busy and he got a small box of cart where the entire set will not fit. I requested for any box even from trash area of any brand will be ok. I was told that they can't get it and gave me option to return it. I have to return the set. I requested to talk to Manager just to let him know that a customer came to the store driving 25 miles and this is not a good reason to send him back. Waited for 10 mins but manager did not show up and other lady came and asked what is my question. Ahe was in rush. I tried to explain about the box but she said whatever register staff has said is final. Looks like this store is making lot of money and don't care for sales. read more

The ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I have ever experienced. I was prepared to buy a new set of irons $899, golf bag $199 and some clothes. I asked the Big guy (well over 6ft and a little heavy set) at the cashier if he I can get some assistance he said "sure I'll call someone over for you" I waited for 15 minutes and NO assistance. I walked up and asked him if he called anyone he said "NO" I'll call someone in a few minutes. I looked at him shook my head and headed out. It would have been ok if he said, Sorry I forgot, let me get someone over now... Not sure if they think they are the only game in town, but FYI you have competition! I thought about giving them another star because it seemed like they had a good selection but I guess I'll never really know. I walked around in there last night for well over 45 minutes without a single personal acknowledging me. I needed a new set of clubs, bag, and shoes. I'd say they avoided just me, but they literally weren't helping anyone at all. They definitely left a lot of money in our pockets in missed sales last night. Now I have to find a whole new place to get set up at and that makes me even more annoyed. Maybe I'll just Amazon everything, the same clubs were $60 cheaper on there anyway. To say that this place is less than desirable is being kind. They haven't learned the meaning of customer service and I'm not sure they ever will. I bought new clubs here last year and when I laid down my $700 the message was 'We'll call you when your clubs arrive'. Almost 5 days after they said the clubs would arrive and my two phone calls to the store, I'm told they don't call and when I go to pick them up, he says they were at the bottom of the pile. Like they couldn't even respect my purchase enough to do more than throw the box in a pile on the floor. Today I went to have a new shaft and grip put on a broken club. I begin to get some help to then find out my child has to use the bathroom and their facilities are out of order. So I have to drop everything and go next door. To then return and find that my items were just left on the counter and the guy is gone. When I go to the front of the store to ask for help I get blank stares because no one knows who I'm referring to. A second guy walks up front about the same time and says he's the club maker but done for the day. They both proceed to just look at me. Now I'm furious because I really wanted the club for my round on Saturday. If I hadnt had to leave I could have gotten my order in??? And nowhere on the site did I see a different set of hours and days for clubmaking that led me to believe I wouldn't be able to be helped if I went to the store before 3 pm. As I'm reading other posts here it makes me question if the company just has bad hiring practices or no good pool from which to pull its employees. Either way... I will NEVER again trade the convenience of proximity to this store for the better service that I am certain to get ANYWHERE else. read more

So I spent 75 on a pair of Nike golf shoes and they are extremely not comfortable for my husband. He thought they would be but after a round of golf his feet and calf's were in so much pain. Now he will never wear those shoes again and I can not get my money back. My father shops a lot with you guys and this was my first time and my last. You guys should have at least a 1 time exchange policy for shoes. What a waste of money. read more

I went in looking to get a few grips and some tape strips to regrip my clubs, the in store price on the grips was $4.50, the online price (from golfsmith) was $3.50 not sure why prices are $1 per grip higher in the store vs from their own website, and the store also didn't have the tape strips in anything other than 15 packs (and they didn't have the water compatible tape strips either, solvent only) I'm a lefty so I don't expect much from a golf store, but it seems like 8 times out of 10 when I walk into this store I leave empty handed because they don't have what I wanted (or in this case, they have the grips but not the tape strips, and the grips are overpriced compared to their own website) read more

It was a surprisingly huge store and seemed well organized. I came here to look for golf shoes and got some reasonable help. If I had to look for more golf equipment in the future, I think this would be a good place to start because it definitely carries plenty of inventory. I hope the employees will be knowledgeable about the other golf equipment. Golfsmith also has a website, which may have more items on sale. read more

They may not have had the clubs I wanted in stock but they placed the order and even sped up the shipping and they arrived in a few days, AMAZING!! Golfsmth is actually a little bit more than a golf store.. it actually has some tennis stuff too... which is primarily why I go. The prices of their racquets are pretty much "standard" as set by the manufacturer. In shopping around both web/brick-mortar the price of the new popular racquets are pretty much all the same. I am dubious when someone says store XYZ has a new product "cheaper". However, I have found some online shops will throw in a bag or string or something. Anyways... I go to golfsmith for tennis balls and tennis strings which are priced "fairly". They dont have a huge selection of strings, but they got what I use "Luxilon". I cant comment on the staff's knowledge of tennis equipment.... but based on the name of the store I suspect GOLF is more their expertise. read more

they have some good sales sometimes, and they send you extra coupons (get 20% off entire purchase, etc) if you sign up for their mailing list. otherwise, you can definitely find better deals elsewhere. they offer custom club fitting and high tech golf lessons, but i think it's pretty expensive. they have a range and putting green in the back where you can try out any of their clubs. they're not anal about it, either. you dont have to ask permission, they dont limit the amount of time you can spend there, and they dont pressure you into buying. they have a diagnostics golf ball tracking thing at the range. you need an employee to help you set it up, but it tells your your club speed, spin, etc etc. they're pretty good about recommending products that would fit your profile, and are not shy about trying to maximize discounts and sales for you. one of them even told me to "just wait a couple months, and i'm sure the price will go down, and we'll probably have a sale around then, too" everyone seems pretty knowledgeable about golf; they don't just hire any high school kid looking for a summer job. would've liked to see more women work here, though. girls play golf too! read more

Definitely will drive the distance to go to this store. Had a horrible experience with Golfsmith in San Carlos and will never shop with them again, but after coming to this store and they knew what they were talking about and took care of me while I was there, I will definitely will be coming back and spending more $$$ with them. Even some associates weren't sure on some of the product but they made sure they asked the right person or got me with someone who knew a little more then they did. Best place to go to find Golf Equipment. I would recommend going there to just try out the Golf Clubs and buying them on EBAY. YOU SAVE BIG TRUST ME. Golfsmith is pretty pricey, but hit the clearance isles and you can find deals. The bad thing about Golf is how quickly stuff is in and then its old news the next year. Don't go out and buy something new right off the bat, because 8 months later you guys it at 200.00 less on EBAY. They have a great selection and you can go in and swing or put with the clubs. my dad loves this store, and all he ever wants for birthdays/fathers day/christmas is golf related, so this is my go to golf store. it's easily missed, as its way deep into the plaza, next to the old circuit city and cost plus world market. the store is not the biggest, but always find something here for him, whether its golf shirts or golf clubs. its near the 280 saratoga avenue exit, so easy for me to get to and from. read more

The staff was great when they finally show up. This place is a large store where you can find a huge selection of golf and tennis items. The biggest problem is the service. It is incredibly hard to schedule a fitting for clubs since they only do it on non busy days (weekdays during the day) which is a huge setback. I enjoy coming to this store. The selection is excellent with the latest pro line equipment. My past experience with the staff has always been good. The people selling the clubs have always been helpful and allow you to demo clubs in their driving area. Plus, they have a great selection of balls, golf and tennis clothing and golf shoes. I recently went in to get some new golf grips for my irons. All the golf club parts (grips, shafts, tools) are located at the rear of the store, along with the person in the little shop back there to service the clubs. I needed some assistance as I was trying to decide on which grips and re-gripping kit would work best for me to perform the job myself. The person in the little shop was talking to another employee for what seemed like 10 minutes. Then two other people needed assistance. Rather than wait I picked the grips and re-gripping kit I thought would work well. I took the items up to the front to pay for them. The person ringing me up asked if I wanted to sign up for the Golfsmith rewards program. I agreed and filled out a form with my contact information. I paid for the items and left. As I was driving away about four blocks from the store I receive a call from the store that the cashier had left one of my grips out of the bag. I thought that was nice they called me, but bad that they left the grip out of the bag in the first place. It's a good thing I had just filled out the Rewards form with my contact info. Otherwise, I would have had to make another trip back for just a single grip. read more

I love Golfsmith! My brother got me golf shoes for Christmas and, when I wasn't sure that they were the exact ones I wanted, I had no problem exchanging them. The staff was so friendly and they helped me find exactly what I wanted. On top of that, I bought a few sweaters and I was surprised that they were marked down further than the lowest price. I just wish that their sale merchandise would have been presented better. . . I probably would have bought more! read more

Can't really complain about this place. I've seen the building change names many times but the inside stays the same. Prices aren't too bad but the place is seriously lacking in staffing. For Christmas, I received a gift certificate to Golfsmith. I finally got around to going there for the purpose of getting fitted for a hybrid golf club. I did not make an appointment so I had to wait for about half an hour. But I got to hit some balls with different hybrids and kind of narrowed it down to a few before someone came to video how I hit the ball. After analyzing a few hits with 4 clubs, I settled on an Adams 3 hybrid. I used it last week and probably will never use a long iron again. read more
