My assigned trainer (Brian) left the company. I had taken 22 lessons out of a prepaid 40. There was an option to pay a maintenance fee to keep my lessons beyond the end of the 1 year contract. The trainer assured that since he is leaving he will initiate the suspension so there would be no fee and the Director of Instruction would be assigned to me to continue services. Months go by and I reach out. The Director (Josh) informed me that the suspension ended after 60 days (this was never mentioned to me and mind you - no one reached out as promised) and that I had "abandoned" 18 lessons. I shared my communications with Brian to Josh who then said we could "work something out" but then all communications drop off again. I reach out a few more times, at some point asking for the arbitration agreement (they refused to provide paperwork that has contract terms) and have since ghosted me. read more

Shane has been a great golf coach for me for the past three years. I love the Golftec system which provides immediate video feedback. The first 6 months we diagnosed and worked on fixing swing issues I'd had for decades - and which still creep up occasionally. And from then on, we've worked on making my "new" swing a little better. When I started my index was around 15. I'm now in the 7 range. Lots of improvement and much more fun on the course. He's easy to work with and provides great insights that I can work on in practice sessions. Far better than just hitting balls blindly with no real plan. Of course improvement will only happen if you put in the time, but the practice will be much more impactful if you are actually working on something constructive. Find a small business that uses Trackman. Way better. Golftec is just another corporate entity focused on sales. It's overpriced, golf staff is mediocre, and due to them overselling and being understaffed, good luck getting any time scheduled. Did I learn some things? Yes. Did it improve my game? Slightly. But after three weeks at a different company with a better system, much better. Save your dough and look at the small private locations. Try them both out with a lesson at each. You'll see why I don't rate Golftec very high. read more

I was hoping to find a diamond in the rough with this place, but it was more of a turd on the sidewalk to be avoided. I booked a one-time 30 minute lesson through the main GolfTec 800 number as I'm trying to get down to a single digit handicap and looking for a little help. I showed up 15 minutes before my lesson time to learn that my time needed to be moved to a different day due to new health restrictions.. TOTALLY FINE WITH THAT we're all being affected by this pandemic. The lesson was at 3:30pm and was booked 2 days in advance, the "coach" had all day to make the call but didn't, stuff happens, I get it. What was not acceptable was the rude and disrespectful manner in with the "coach" talked down to me, asking how did you even get on MY schedule and tried to push me into a $1400 minimum package or wouldn't reschedule me, never having seen me swing a club, even after he cancelled my lesson with no warning and no solution other than to sign up for a package on the spot. Go support your local course pro, find another facility, or just watch more YouTube videos. This place is a joke. read more

GOLFTEC El Segundo - Golf Lessons Near Me - El Segundo, California

Just to be 100% clear, this review is for the Golf Tec Studio located inside the El Segundo location of Golfsmith. I cannot say enough about Golf Tec, the coaches, and the mission of this business. Really, I know I am paying for this service, but all they want to do is help me enjoy golf, make me better at the game, and to completely (with technology and good coaching) help me to understand the mechanics of golf in relation to MY swing, MY body, and MY intended skill level. I enrolled in the Summer of 2015, and bought a year-long set of lessons, a custom club-fitting, 4 video (on course) lessons, and all the indoor range balls I could hit. It was not cheap. But when you think about it...if I am a 95 average golfer and I wish to be an 80-82 average golfer, I need to shave roughly 15 strokes a round off my game, and no manner of lucky putting, "decent" tee shots, or really lucky bounces will get me there. Only professional instruction, lessons geared to my learning style and physics, and practice will help do that. Since July I have lowered my average by 5-6 strokes. That's almost half the way there in 4.5 months of lessons. I took advantage of the club fitting to get new irons that are customized to my height, my grip, and my swing style (speed)...and DAMN...instant returns. My new clubs help my confidence level, I hit them straighter and longer, and they only build my trust level for this coaching experience. When I signed up, I drew Matt Newby as my coach...as fate would have it. He's a great guy, an avid hockey fan (like me), super personable, very passionate about golf, and he really understands me as a person (my hang ups on the course, my competitive nature, and my athletic physiology). Matt has been paramount in this improvement process and I cannot say enough about him and his teachings. The lessons are fun, and informative. I get instant (and constant) video feedback on the hi-tech monitors that record everything from my body positioning, swing speed, club orientation to the ball, etc...and we get HD video feedback saved to my own personal Golf Tec on-line lesson bank. I can re watch lessons at any time, and go over my sessions and homework on my iphone app or my PC. I can even schedule my own practices at any location, or communicate with my coach when needed. This is amazing in every way, and WORTH EVERY PENNY. You're only going to get better at something with practice, good teachings, a good attitude, and by committing yourself to it. I want to be a better golfer (I'm not old yet, but I know my days of competitive ice hockey are coming to a close). I want to have golf as a recreational sport for many years and I wish to enjoy it thru being decent at it, and doing my best. Matt is helping me through his teaching, GolfTec is helping me through the myriad of tools, and I am helping myself by committing to it. The review is not based on the quality of lessons as I have not been able to even get that far despite paying for an (expensive) series of 10 lessons and 10 practice sessions weeks ago. Due to system issues on the company's end I never received an email confirmation or certificate or other proof of purchase. Although we have provided credit card support to prove the charge and the company has acknowledged the system/website issues on their end, weeks have passed with no communication and no resolution. Originally, I scheduled an appointment for a club-fitting. Like most golfers, I thought that I needed to upgrade my equipment to play better. After consultation with Jerome, the manager, he noted that I also seemed interested in addressing some swing issues. So he recommended that we work on the swing before trying to evaluate which clubs and shafts would be best for me. That made perfect sense. So we've had several lessons now. I THOUGHT I understood the golf swing-- in fact I took pride in thinking I knew it better than most. But the improvement in my golf game has been dramatic. I have never swung a club with this much consistency and quality. Apparently, only about 10% of golfers take a lesson. With the help of their video system, Jerome has identified a number of issues that I could never have diagnosed on my own. In fact, previously I would have said these would be the wrong way to go! The results have been immediate and substantial. If you are at all serious about your golf game, and are not already a single digit handicap, you know it to yourself to take a few lessons. Cmon its 2016, really your not going to let me out of my contract that I was not aware I was locked into?? Lol This is a great set up! However BEWARE they will request a lot of lessons and LOCK you into a long term contract. The people are great but the emphasis is on sales not lessons and I've had easier time getting out of gym memberships then the 18'month lesson plan I signed up for with their recommendation. Being in Sales myself I can appreciate not reading the fine print and getting caught in several months of lessons but if you can't use a service for whatever reason you shouldn't have to pay for it! I have worked with Shane Gomes as my golf instruction for several months and he has been extremely helpful in making my game much better. He gives very practical personalized advice and practice drills which go a long way to helping me fix my golf problems. I can practice in the indoor golf bay in the El Segundo Office frequently as part of my package and can use the video cameras and monitor to help me refine my swing. He is very friendly and supportive of me and the whole staff makes me feel welcomed. read more
