I want to give this negative stars so that no one else goes here. I've been playing a lot of par 3 the past 2-3 years and this is by far the best kept greens and secret in LA. I read a few reviews of poorly kept fairways and greens but they must not have gone recently. The greens are the best I've seen. Which is bad, since now I can't blame my missed puts on the greens. I've played Rancho, Los Feliz, Alondra, Terrenea, Arroyo, Arcadia, Scholl, VN and a few others and Westdrift is ranked 1 in my book. The course layout and maintenance are fantastic. Staff are super cool, there wasn't any back up of play to complain about and parking is easy and free. read more

Enjoyed playing the 9 hole Par 3 golf course with my sister - it was up and down but greens were true. Young coyote resting under tree on hole #7 was unimpressed with our play.... First time for my sister who only putted. At least she had 4 one putts so it was a good start for her! read more

This hotel is on such beautiful grounds. I was lucky enough to have stayed here for a conference but also to enjoy the golf course. A beautifully kept and well manicured 9-hole, this was just lovely. I was lucky enough to be able to see the course from the balcony-patio from my room. My room was very spacious. Everything was so nice and neat in my room as well. I liked that there was a small table and lounge chair for me to just sit and enjoy the calm of the room and all its decor. I like that it had a very modern feel, in the lobby as well. The valets here were so sweet and so accommodating. the staff were all wonderful and the banquet staff were absolutely a dream. The banquet food was delicious, hot, beautiful in presentation and then some. it was more than I had expected. and for those who are wondering, Yes, make a reservation for golf ahead of time. No, there are no carts. you must do all the walking yourself. read more

Marriott holds themselves to a certain standard and the prices they charge for this hotel should say it's a 2.5 start nowhere near 3.5 or more .. The rooms and bathrooms are dated, the food and room service reminds me of Ramada Inn but the staff is very nice and accommodating. We found hair in our toilet and sink. Someone opened our door at 4:30am. Once we called down to the front they veered just as shocked. Later they called and mentioned it was security. He didn't realize someone was in our room. Proshop staff is great but hotel management refuses to invest in the course and knows nothing about golf. These are the worst tee boxes in LA and the mats are disgusting. Pre covid, the previous team had a sand box for divots on every tee box, they rotated tees and maintained decent greens. Now they just over water (see photo) and under maintain while raising rates. This par 3 could be so much better under different management and some investment in their product. read more

Westdrift was a great place for a quick Par 3, 9 hole round. Cost for a round was $30. Book in advance. No carts, just walking. Parking lot is behind the hotel. You enter through a small street. Dress code was not really enforced, people were in tank tops. Views were nice. The walking was not terrible, some hills. Course was spread out nicely. Took roughly 2 hours to finish. read more

While the sprawling greens were beautiful and the land had many small hills that covered the whole 9 holes, it was still a difficult par3 for me as a beginner of 1 year (with lessons). The start of the hole 1 was pretty much a small square landing for the tee off area, which was then surrounded by a cute, small lake complete with flying geese and ducks frequenting that morning's golf game. The first hole was the hardest, as trying to get past the lake shot was tricky. The next few shots were inviting because of the pleasantness of the green landscaping and architectural design of the par3. Some holes were uphill, some went downhill, it was very nice. Much akin to a walk in the park. I would def try westdrift however, it is a bit pricey and I got my tee time discounted to a cool $30 total for one player. That said, make it a special day or the very last of the few challenging par3's in or around LA. The view to eat was excellent overlooking the golf course. The weather of the beach only accentuates the lush, greens. Very inviting. The only negative light I must address is that there was a lot of dog poop around the tee off boxes, esp in the middle and the 9th hole had so much flies I was a bit disgusted by the stench and the amount of unpicked up dog poop on the tee off mats. I nearly fainted at the 9th hole mat. read more

What used to be the best kept secret in LA, is now worse than a public muni course. In 2019, I played here at least 4 times a month. The grounds crew kept this place in tip top shape and you played on carpets. I played in October 2020 and the tee boxes are destroyed (every hole, hitting off dirt), the greens are full of divots and randomly we saw two dead animals on the course (squirrel and raccoon). We heard the hotel is letting people play soccer golf and it shows, this is no longer a great golf course. Even though I have the membership I hate to say I won't be back for awhile, hopefully they fix it soon! I would give it 1 star, but Scott is great and the customer service is always amazing so giving it 2 stars. read more

Similar to other reviews, I've had the membership card at west drift for two years. I will not be renewing next year. I've never seen a place go downhill quite like this in such a short period of time. The staff is still the same great group but the management seems to be entirely different. Kids are allowed to play soccer on the greens. Imagine teeing off waiting for kids to clear the green with a soccer ball. I'm fine with soccer golf if the place is a real mess, but this place used to be incredible. It's become unrecognizable. It's a real shame, and overpriced for what it is now. I've golfed at West Drift for years. It's a hidden gem in the heart of Manhattan Beach. The staff is great, the tee times are spaced out, so you don't feel rushed, and the course is well maintained. A few weeks ago a couple friends and I show up for our tee time and the parking lot, which is reserved for the golf course had been converted into 4 pickle ball courts. WTH? Now, you are told to park in the hotel parking garage, which is a trek through the parking garage, then through the hotel or the street all while carrying your golf clubs. I've asked the staff about the situation and they have nothing nice to say about the GM. Another "corporate stooge"...the employees words not mine making idiotic decisions that make ZERO sense. The employees are also the ones taking the heat for the GM's terrible decision. I've golfed a few times since they converted the parking and not one time has there been a single person playing pickle ball. We golfed with a couple guys today who said they won't return to West Drift because of the parking situation. It's unlikely I will return as well. The GM's name is James Wroblewski, way to go James you've just turned this gem into another corporate wasteland. read more

Came here to golf on a Saturday. It was super easy to get a tee time online. The best thing about this course us that it's dog friendly! So we brought our dog with us and he loved it. This is a 9 hole course and is a 3 par so the holes aren't very long. They could improve on watering the grass a little bit more and cleaning up all of the geese poop. Other than that, its a fun course so amateur golfers. They have a shop with food and alcohol. Every hole has a ball cleaner station and a trashcan. The course is really pretty with palm trees and 2 ponds. Parking is easy as the lot is free but the course is a little difficult to find. It costs about $30/person. There is also a sitting area at the beginning of the course and a putting green. read more

Decided to call last minute on Sat for a quick round of 9 Holes of golf. luckily we got into a flight within half out of calling starter. The greens where in very good condition. The tee boxes could use better maintenance. Fairways are decent. If you are looking to work on short game it works. Price for 9 holes is def on the pricey side. Parking is very convenient close to the starter and lots of slots to park. Easy in and out. Our flight waited on 8th and that was it. Over all my friend and I enjoyed our round of golf here. read more

Westdrift was the best 9 hole track in LA in '19 when it was managed by Scoby. When the hotel took over it was quite obvious that they didn't care about the course at all and simply wanted to make money. Rates increased and the course diminished to not being worth it. Couldn't believe every tee box was destroyed from what looked like more than golf swings. I heard they allow golf soccer which could be part of it. Really bummed this is no longer a spot I'll visit weekly. Scott is a good guy and keeps things fun, really the only good thing about this course now is him. read more

Good set up. A very fun Par 3 course which is not flat but still easy to walk and you'll get though in no more than 75 mins. Nice practice green, well stocked starter shop where you can grab a hat or cocktail or cold one before you tee off. The greens have improved tremendously over the last year. The tee boxes? Terrible, and little has been done to fix them. Get those repaired and this is a 5-star experience! read more

One of the best Par 3 courses around. Well manicured and well kept, with challenging elevations and hazards that you don't see at most Par 3's. Friendly staff too, and dog-friendly! Two (minor) issues however. As mentioned in some earlier reviews, the tee boxes are kinda ripped up and muddy (but there is a mat on every hole if you prefer that). And it is pretty expensive, especially for a Par 3 (albeit a nice one). For a few dollars more you could play a full 18 nearby. Nevertheless, Westdrift is quite an enjoyable course right in the middle of Manhattan Beach, and I will definitely be coming back again. read more

The two stars is because I needed a latte at 11 am. They have an espresso machine at the bar but cannot serve lattes after 10:30 am. I don't think I need to explain why this hurts their business. If you can't do this right, how many other things can you do wrong? I don't know how they're still in business. We were there to play golf at their little 9-holer. We mentioned to the staff that our golf game isn't spectacular, and even more so that morning because we didn't have coffee. He said we would fit right in. And he was right! We came here hoping to play a 9-hole round with my family for my birthday. My sister booked a tee time on Monday morning for Wednesday afternoon directly on the website. When we showed up, we were told the course was closed due to flooding. They didn't send any email notifying us. My sister could have made other plans. It's a nice course for what you pay, if that's all you're really looking for. Paying $25 (at the time of this review) for a course with solid kept fairways and decently kept greens; especially since it's part of a hotel, but the staff are left to be desired for. The people that work the pro shop when checking in need to have their tone and attitude checked. We may have been a minute or two late for our tee time and it may have been a somewhat busy day but we were treated as if we committed a heinous felony. Never have I been met with people with nastier attitudes who work at a golf course in my life and I've played at PLENTY of courses. I've been met with much friendlier staff at even CHEAPER and EXPENSIVE courses. I really hope the staff was just having an awful day and that they're not like this on a daily basis. The tee boxes are poorly kept but it's to be expected at any Par 3 course with short length holes. Thankfully they have alternative hitting mats if the tee boxes are beaten up, I mostly hit from those mats anyway, my shots came out way better than I expected. Other than those issues it's a really nice amenity for a hotel to have this and how convenient the course is from the hotel. Great for casuals who are visiting considering they have rental clubs too. I'm hoping that my next visit the staff are much friendlier. But hey you get what you pay for. If you want a more premium experience, I recommend you drive up to Palos Verdes and play at Terranea. 2x the price but 2x the quality. read more

Don't quite understand the negative reviews here about how the course is kept. I went the morning of fathers day 2021 and it was beautiful. Other than the geese poop which isn't their fault, everything was well kept, green and playable. Customer service is insanely hospitable and informative and kind. They even had free Starbucks and Krispy Kreme's for Father's Day! Don't listen to the bad reviews. read more
