I got my club fitter here. Rob Seney helped me throughout the process, but I'm sad to say that the communication and clarity throughout the process was not there. Great lesson by Todd. The company, however, doesn't tell you how long your lessons are valid for until you get a PDF confirming everything. Never did I have the option to see my lessons expired in 3 months, until after you sign & view a day later via email. $500 for 1 lesson? Ridiculous. Don't try calling them when they're open, they don't pick up either. Their corporate line isn't useful either when it comes to billing matters. read more

I was/am trying to pin down the best club for me. My PXG 0211 were just stolen out of my car and I wanted to see if there was a better club, for me, or should I continue with PXG. GolfTec was able to fit me in, which is great. But, they showed me pretty run of the mill wedges, even when I told him that I already had the cleveland wedge in my old bag... that was with me... When I was trying out the different brands, of 7 irons, non had the "wow" factor yet my fitter was okay suggesting/pushing one of them. This was even after I told him of my stats on the PXG's were far better. I just hit the PXG clubs a lot better with much better spin rate. So no Irons needed, then we moved to hybrids. I tried a few of the hybrids, but I wanted to try a 3 hybrid. Apparently, they only had 4 hybrids... They were fine and I will probably go with a Ping or TSi hybrid. We moved on to drivers: I had a brand new TSi2 stolen so I was very interested in comparing that club with others. The fitter basically only showed me Ping, Mizuno & Titleist. Titleist and Mizuno have the same face, so not a big difference. The biggest disappointment was the lack of shafts, which is a big surprise! How they could not have Hazard shafts, I really don't get. During the driving was the first feedback on my swing, or any part of my game. I know it's not a lesson, but come on! We finally decided to price a few items, no irons. It came up to just under $1K. Understandable, those are nice clubs. I told the fitter that I needed to see what the insurance is covering and what I had to cover. He then very quickly told me that's fine, and it's $250 for the fitting. Okay. I asked if that goes towards any purchase, fully expecting it to, and he said IT DOES NOT. Well... There was the "wow" I wasn't looking for. Basically, that looses my business... A few things they can do to improve. 1) not have a guy who has only fit clubs for 4 months be the main fitter and or not charge full rate for someone who is NOT an expert. 2) apply any fitting fee to the purchase of clubs. 3) Get a better selection of shafts 4) If someone is in there for a full bag fitting, don't forget the putter!!! (There was no mention of putters during my fitting) All in all, NOT WORTH THE PRICE! read more

I'm a few months in on the 12 mo. plan, with Andrew Cave. He's excellent. Mellow guy, great listener and teacher. It's been fun. I've been a 14 to 11 handicap for at least a decade going into this. Turned 50 this year and finally decided it's time to give a full effort with professional help. Three months in, I'm a believer. I greatly value the educational aspect. I'm now confident that I know what to focus on, rather than trying to diagnose myself. Also, very importantly, I can match the swing feeling with knowledge of what I'm actually doing. It's been eye opening to realize the discrepancies between what I thought I was doing and what I was actually doing. read more

My wife got me a lesson for Christmas and I finally went in to use it. I was a little put off to start. They really brag about how great they are and it was a little much for me at the time. They hooked me up to all the wires to analysis my swing. The computer told me I did not have a good swing. The instructor made a few minor corrections and, according to the computer, my swing got better. Now in 45 minutes the computer and the instructor fixed a lot of things wrong with my swing. I was told to go out and practice and make the corrections. I was a but skeptical about what they changed. I went to the range and hit a large bucket and could see huge improvements. I went out to a local course. I really tried to follow the tips on corrections and I saw an improvement. These guys can brag about being good at what they do. I have had formal and informal lessons and the results were nothing like this. After 45 minutes at GolfTEC, my game has vastly improved. I will got back for further follow-up because I am a believer in this program. read more

Fun evening at GolfTEC event last night. Delicious refreshments and great golf swing analysis. They hook you up with wires & sensors to a computer program. The computer imaging identifies where your swing is weak, helpsalign your swing, which is supposed to improve your game. - I'll have to see what happens next time on the course. Friendly and helpful staff. Facility looks small from the street, but opens up into a nice sized facility. read more

I tried golftec last year after seeing their booth at the golf show. Overall, I would say it is a good for understanding better mechanics. They hook you up to many wires and sensors to show you on the computer where your swing is weak. It does help align your swing and will improve your game. I don't think a big series is necessary. I would say 4-5 visits should do the trick. It is pricey per visit but worth the investment in my opinion. Parking can be difficult at the Seattle location however. read more

I signed up for a practice and lesson package as I had more time to finally focus on playing better golf. The video practice is great, but the instruction has been poor and the cost is high. I am a high-handicapper and I felt the instruction I got was useless. Possibly even worse than that as I was actually told to do moves that may have solved one problem but introduced a range of others. One example is that I stood up a little on the downswing ("early extension"). When I asked what causes that I was told he didn't know. Most of the instruction focused on trying to get the club on plane using my hands and arms, which is the exact opposite of the right way, which is to use your core and lower body. The fitting was equally bad - I hit a few drivers and was told the one that went the longest was the best for me. The video practice helped me to see what I was doing wrong and then I was able to find online videos that talked about the real issues. I got better by ignoring the instructors and using the drills I learned elsewhere. Ultimately, with a lot of ranges adding video options and Toptracer, there's no need to spend the substantial premium to go with GolfTec. Also, instructors mentioned in other reviews are no longer with GolfTec SLU so perhaps they would have been more effective. read more

Really impressed with Golf-Tec. Had a great fitting session with Rance today. Didn't feel he was pushing me in one direction. Just following the data. Really nice facility. Recently remodeled. Fitting was only $100 compared to others in the area charging $250. I had a fitting last year at Gregg Rogers in Bellevue. This was a LOT better. More professional. Better operation. I have been with GolfTec South Lake Union for 1 year and have had an outstanding experience and learning period. I initially signed up for 6 months and have recently renewed. The #1 benefit in my opinion is the ability to watch and analyze your own swing on video. For as much time spent at the range and the course practicing, the majority of golfers never get to actually see their own swing. The understanding that comes from watching your swing greatly enhances your ability to understand your mechanics and compare them to proper mechanics. It gives you immediate feedback. How many golfers get to see their inside/out path? see an open or closed club face? measure their tempo? watch their head stay down, shoulder turn, hip turn, impact and follow thru? I have heard that golfers who use video improve at 3 times the rate to those who do not. I believe it. Video is a great way to prevent from grooving bad habits and instead learn to groove proper ones. There are innumerable additional benefits not listed in your selected program including access to some of the latest golf DVDs, golf shows, golf tournaments, physical training programs and instructor knowledge. They offer a variety of different programs that allows you to sign up for a few lessons or practice times, a short 3 month program or longer term. It allowed me to see if I felt I was benefitting from GolfTec without committing for a long time. Also, it allows you to take on more practicee during the off months and less during the summer when you are golfing more often. They only thing holding me back from giving Golf Tec a 5-star rating is that they will only be as good or beneficial to you and your golf game as YOU make them. While there is no magic potion to perfecting your swing, GolfTec has provided me with the tools and technology to understand and improve with hard work and practice. read more
