I've been going to Puetz for years not and they have never failed me. Recently my GF took golf lessons and as a beginner to golf, she came away with the same impression. Free warm up buckets before the pro arrived, extra balls after she finished, track man set up for right AND left hand golfers, friendly knowledgable staff. I needed a couple of grips put on and it usally is a wait ... maybe a day or so, but becuse my GF was taking lessons, they got them done for me, so they would be ready when her lesson was done. I was in search of a women's starter club set and found one on the Puetz website on sale for $300 from $500. I called and spoke with a friendly representative named Ryan, who kindly put one on hold for me for 48 hours. I went into the store on a Saturday and was immediately greeted and offered assistance. When I checked out, the young man at the register was fast and friendly, while a very helpful man (in zebra pants) unboxed and prepared my new clubs for me. Went to look at used lob wedges for my son. Was able to test multiple club at the convenient driving range at store. As many balls were provided as needed. Didn't quite like the used clubs. Ended up trying and hitting the new clubs. Great customer service was provided. Ended up purchasing new club. Also, brought out all our clubs and hit a full bucket. It's the pest place to test out clubs and decide if you want to buy or just test out. Will come here again when my son out grows this clubs. read more

BEWARE. Puetz posts items for sale that they don't have in stock. And, their online customer service is clearly not empowered to serve customers. Which is fine if you're just buying some balls on close out. I mean, is it that big a deal if you have to pay $10 extra at the pro shop? Well, maybe. But at least you've only been hosed for $10. ‍ On the other hand, when it's a limited edition item that is only at a few sites, that could suck. Here's their game. They post a limited edition item that's only at a few sites. But, they either don't actually know how many they are going to get, or worse, they have really, really bad inventory management software. It's probably a little of each. Either way, both are dishonest business practices that cost the buyer time AND money later on. But, you don't know all that yet. And, you choose to buy from them. Because, we all want to support a local shop vs. a giant retailer. And then, after that limited edition item is all sold out everywhere, Putz realizes that they can't fulfill the order. You get a weak email, abdicating all responsibility by Putz for "selling" you the item. But hey, don't worry, you get your money back. And now you can use it to pay hundreds more on eBay. Yay! The moral of the story. Don't buy from Putz if you want the item they "think" is in stock. Especially if it's a limited edition you can get somewhere else. read more

I explained my budget and what I was looking for, he pulled options both new and used for me, explained the differences, and let me sample everything on their range. Just wanted to share that I had a problem with my Ping Irons I have had for 4 years. I brought them in to the Aurora shop and Chuck took great care of me. He sent them to PIng, negotiated with Ping about warrantee and he was able to get me brand new I 525 irons with my custom shaft and lie angles for FREE!! I ordered a brand new Bettinardi Putter and they shipped me a used one. It also took almost two weeks to arrive. Then they are making me wait till they receive it back (probably another 14 days) to refund my money. I would not recommend and I will not be using them again. read more

I also realized when I got home that the "new" driver they sold me looked like it had been hit on their range hundreds of times (my fault for not noticing earlier, but really frustrating). I set up time at Puetz for a replacement of a full set of clubs as mine were quite old and I am getting back into the sport after finishing night school. Chris helped me with my fitting and couldn't have been more helpful. First he gave me some time to try the irons I had researched online and several comparable models to find the best feel. He then walked me through the full fitting process for irons, wedges, and woods. I ended up spending 2 hours in the fitting area (twice my allotted appointment time). I also purchased a bag. I exchanged the bag (twice) and exchanged the driver I initially went with for a standard model (as opposed to slice correction). During this process, no questions were asked and the team supported me with a smile on each visit for returns. The main Puetz store is a really good place for hitting balls at the driving range, purchasing new or used golf clubs, and repairs or upgrades to your current golf equipment. Andrew one of the sales person and fitter is very knowledgeable on golf. I ask him a few questions about shafts and club heads and other various golf related stuff. He seem to know his golf. The driving range is like any other driving range in the city. However, I do recommend this place for purchasing your golf equipment. Not sure what has happened to good ol reliable Puetz. I am a born and raised Seattleite and Puetz has always been the go to for reliable, excellent golf recommendations, lessons, knowledge and customer service. But what now? The staff the past 3-4 months have been more about themselves than the customer. I have been in at least 6 times (driving range/equipment) in the past two months and not once have I been acknowledged when I approached the customer service counter (I always approach with a smile and pleasant demeanor) The staff may ring your purchases up (after you stand there 10 minutes) and just push the whole pile at you when done.... Not offering if one wants a bag. Once All 5 young men were chatting behind the counter recently and I had to ask 5 times if I could get help with the ball dispenser as the tokens did not work. It took an instructor coming from the outside to help. But maybe the best was me standing at the desk waiting to inquire/make a golf purchase. Again, all 4-5 employees were behind the counter taking about who was best dressed that day and completely ignoring me. Their answers to equipment questions seem superficial at best. Is it because I'm a senior woman that I am clearly a ghost??? Not a (frequent) customer? Even my son, unsolicited, mentioned the smirks on the faces of the young men behind the counter. These young men need to spend time learning customer service and to be taught knowledge and decorum. They are not what one would want at a great golf store much less a golf course . Maybe they should strut their best dressed to the book store and read up on equipment and customer service. A simple cut down and regrip of my classic Scotty Cameron was absolutely botched by Puetz Golf in Seattle. After 20 minutes of tinkering, I receive my club back with abnormal lies and loft. I asked Sam at the counter what had occurred in order to cause a decreased loft and a lie that caused the shaft to set up ahead of parallel on the club. He told me that he hadn't done anything out of the ordinary, insisting that he has done "hundreds" of regrips without issue; his solve was that a bend-back service may salvage the club, but that I would have to go to their Tacoma location for it... I took my now, MANGLED, putter to a reputable local golf repair shop and we both discovered that there was wet epoxy on the joint between the head and the shaft, and with a couple wiggles, my putter head fell off. Sam failed to mention that he for some reason had taken the head off of the putter during a cut down and regrip? Incorrect re-alignment during the re-joining of this section on a double bent shaft that is on Scotty Cameron mallets caused the aforementioned inconsistencies. I can't speak for the quality of clubs or sales, but I would not recommend regripping or reshafting golf clubs at Puetz Golf. Today, they lost a customer of 25 years. Very disappointed. read more

Went in to get fitted for clubs. Guy who helped me was generally nice, but after he realized I was a beginning golfer struggling with my swing, he pretty much ignored me while I tried to find the right club. I noted that I was struggling and looking for a set of clubs to help mitigate that. He mumbled something about how it's nice to have new clubs, recommended I come back some other time when my swing was better, and left me to hit more balls by myself. When I intimated I'd like to try out a full set of clubs after narrowing things down (by myself since he offered no input), he disappeared and I didn't see him again. Dropped off the test clubs at the counter and walked out the door feeling like I had gained zero new knowledge on what to buy from the hour I spent there. Wasn't so much fitted for clubs as much as I was unenthusiastically told to try an assortment of clubs and left to my own devices. read more

Higher fence! The top tracer is a great new addition but the fact you have to use it with the yellow balls ruins the experience. Time to upgrade guys... read more

Well, this place isn't anything fancy .. but the people that work here sure are nice! I visited for the first time to check out their driving range because they're in my neighborhood, and I ended up trying out 5 pitching wedges. Like another reviewer mentions, no one really approached to help me as I wandered - I was forced to walk the whole store to find a staff member for assistance. I actually found two of them chatting near the back, but as soon as I got their attention I was thoroughly attended to. Instead of using my own clubs and purchasing a bucket of balls as I had intended, I spent an hour testing out wedges with the bucket of free balls that came with. The nice older gentleman that helped me was able to break down what I should expect with each club in newbie terms which I certainly appreciated. When I returned to turn in my test wedges, I was helped by a younger guy who gave me advice on pricing and brands. I left Puetz thoroughly impressed by the helpfulness and knowledge of both associates, and I will definitely return for their merchandise as well as their advice. I'll add the 5th star if they ever update the driving range and property (looking a bit rundown). read more

One of the best golf equipment stores I've ever been to. Don't let the outward appearance fool you. They may not have the extensive selection of apparel that perhaps a PGA Superstore or Golf Galaxy has. But their selection of equipment is excellent, and that's really what's most important when choosing a golf store. They carry a wide variety from all the major brands and even have some of the more obscure ones like Honma and XXIO. Better still, they have an actual driving range in the back where you can test out demo clubs. Launch monitors are great and all, but seeing a ball come of the club and into the air provides better feedback, in my opinion. The service is always top notch. I've been there 3-4 times and have consistently been greeted upon entering and asked if I need any help. I recently had my putter re-gripped, and the person who helped was super friendly and worked with me to select the right replacement grip. Also great is their return program. Used clubs can be returned for credit and, if you join their reward program, you get an annual mulligan on gear that's been used for a full refund. I have not used their club fitting services, but noticed that they have been awarded top fitter honors multiple times, most notably from Ping which is supposedly one of the more difficult fitting certifications to obtain. read more

This place is cool! It has toptracer tech for the left side of the range which allows you to see how far you hit the ball, direction, curve, etc. If you download the app, you can save your stats. It also has a "game" where you can play 18 holes! There's no way to "putt" so that kinda sucks, but it improves your short game at least. First 1.5 hours they're open it's 8$ for 2 buckets (100 balls) which isn't too bad, otherwise it's normally 11$. I like to come fairly early to get the special on 2 buckets and then take my time practicing. The store is cool, but the only thing I really buy from them is golf gloves. They have an area to test out putters and also let you try out other clubs. They also offer lessons but I don't have any experience with that (yet). read more

In particular, Larry and Steve have been extremely patient and understanding of my need for dialing in my clubs. I like Puetz. You have to look a little to find it, it's near the Home Depot on 99. They have a fine pro shop with a huge selection of clubs and other golf merchandise. I doubt that you can't find what you are looking for here. It appears to me that the prices are good and competitive. They also have a driving range which is average for Seattle driving ranges...plenty of stalls, hitting of mats (they are in good shape). Only problem is that you have to hit out of the chutes which may be good for safety (thanks to Happy Gilmore in the stall next to me) but cuts down on the realism of the practice experience. The range balls are good quality and the cost of a bucket is in par (ha) with other ranges. They do offer a discount card and discounted prices on the range for certain times in the day. I understand it can be crowded then so be prepared. Check it out! read more

How have I not written a review for Puetz yet??!! For every beginning female golfer you MUST take at least one lesson with Val. It changed my outlook so much on golf and helped me enjoy the game much more...even though I'm still not ready for the Tour :) Okay, so I started golf just a measly few years ago. Previous to that I'd simply accompany my husband (then boyfriend) and wearily glance at my watch while he perused the brightly lit and expansive Puetz showroom. When he'd glance at me, I'd quickly look interested in something and give him the thumbs up and a smile. Boy how times have changed, sometime between our dating and engagement I decided if you can't beat 'em join 'em and started golfing. Which meant more stops at Puetz. Every single person there has been so helpful. I purchased by first set of clubs there, all of our family shops there and has for years. We simply love Puetz. But I have to say that it wasn't until I started to take LPGA pro Val's golf "women's night group lessons' that I realized how awesome they are. Val is patient and kind and I recomend her for any level of skill golfer...my husband started taking lessons with her too. This place has been around, at the same location, for years! My Dad shopped here back in the day and I too came to this location during my high school days to hit bucket upon buckets of balls at the driving range. They even have a real grass putting green! This Seattle institution was around way before Pro Golf, the prices here are about par, oops, pardon the pun... Staff is very knowledgeable and the selection of products is top notch. Had a 30 minute lesson with Casey and my swing has always suffered from a bad slice and he fixed my grip and the way I swing in 5 minutes and my slice disappeared and I could hit further swinging half as hard as I used to. Played my first round the next weekend after my lesson and tied my course record at my men's league course. Highly recommend getting a lesson from Casey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Well I can't really give it one star because I've never actually had a lesson or used the range. What I can say though is that I've scheduled my first lesson, twice, with a private instructor and it still hasn't happened. The first one I had scheduled for a Sunday, it was my first lesson ever and first time learning about golf, so I was excited and nervous. I drive all the way to the Shoreline location (25 min) and when I get there the guy behind the counter told me all the instructors lessons were cancelled for the day. No sorry, nothing else. I had to be the one to ask to reschedule. So I did. It took him 15 min just to open the calendar. He said the instructor works Sun-Weds. So I asked about Monday, no she's not working that day. How about Tues? Nope. UGH!! I finally found a day she was actually going to work. Then the morning of the lesson I got a call saying she was cancelling, AGAIN. I'm tired of trying to schedule a lesson. Obviously they don't care about customer service or retention. The building is run-down and dingy. The customer service is awful. Scheduling for lessons has gotten me no-where. If I ever actually get to use the gift certificate I received, I'll update this post... read more

I've been shopping at Puetz on and off for many years now - both this store and the Bellevue one. Truth be told, Puetz is appealing because of their pricing as compared to local pro shops. That's where the appeal ends though - the customer service is TERRIBLE. My impression of Puetz staff members as a whole is that they'd much rather be doing pretty much anything besides helping customers. In fact, I've never once experienced anyone, at either store, come up and offer to help without being asked. And even if you do get someone's attention they are pretty consistently curt and unhelpful, to the point that I've just walked out more than once. In addition, if you want to hit some balls at a range, don't waste your time at the Aurora Puetz. It's run down, small, overpriced and the balls are some of the worst I've seen. They've got to be several years old (and they look it). Add to that the fact that they're short range balls (lightweight, so they don't fly as far) and there's really nothing positive to note about this range. Interbay is not that far away and is very, very easily worth the drive - their range balls are almost always brand new looking, the stalls are larger, they're heated, the facility is one of the best I've ever seen, and it's cheaper for the same amount of balls. In summary, yes, you will save around 10% over a shop like the one at Interbay, but if you value customer service at all, avoid Puetz. read more

Not impressed with the service. Went in at the beginning of summer and I asked twice to be fitted for golf clubs and was brushed off- maybe because my budget was ONLY $800. The young salesman who "helped" me was either a robot or high. They had a nice selection of bags on sale. read more

First of all I'm not a golfer in any aspect, just to clear some of the air. But as a novice I went in with my friend and it was just so simple to start. They have a deal within the first 30 minutes of opening or closing (possibly one hour i forget) that you can get a large bucket of golf balls for 8 dollars. I think regular price is like 12 or something like that. Its so cheap! Not only that, when you go and hit the golf balls they have a huge range of different sizes for clubs. They also have games you can play with friends where it tracks who can hit the ball the farthest, the most accurate etc. As someone who's barely even touched a golf club outside of a P.E. class in high school I think this is a great place to come and just let loose! Even though I live about 30 miles away, I make an effort to come to Puetz anytime I need any golf equipment. I started golfing about 5 years ago so that my husband and I could have a common hobby to enjoy during the Spring and Summer months. Although by playing more, I've improved, I still consider myself a beginner, which is why he bought me a 30 minute private lesson as a gift. Their scheduling system is extremely convenient to use when booking, you choose your preferred instructor, then a time slot that works for you. I chose Casey based on his experience and was looking forward to getting some professional tips to improve my game. BOY DID IT HELP! Casey was patient and worked with me to really understand the areas that I could improve on. Turns out I was going WAY too far back on my backswing, which caused me to lose control and therefore didn't get accuracy or good contact with the ball. He was able to take video and play it back for me while we worked through a swing to really show the differences of before and after. Walked away very happy and confident that, with practice, my game would improve. Then, a friend and I went to the hour long ladies clinic on a Tuesday night, also taught by Casey. For $25, it was a great deal considering the amount of feedback and practice time we got. Casey remembered me from my lesson a few weeks before and commented that my swing looked much better. We then were able to tweak a few more things and I also walked away from that feeling that I would be making improvements. After several rounds, I've been implementing a lot of the techniques that we worked on and I can 100% say that I've seen great improvement with ball contact. I'll be going back to the ladies clinics throughout the summer. I'm also considering getting a new set of irons and Puetz will be my first stop. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I feel they don't have enough selection for Women's clubs - I'd say about 6 different sets compared to the dozens of options for men. I bought my 2nd set of clubs here,and 3rd,4th, and now im on my 5th set, but this time i actually got them fitted for me, from the grips, to the shaft, lie angle,loft and length...oh wat a difference it made to my game..now golf isnt as frustrating as it is....the store itself is well overly stocked with everything you need for golfing..from shoes to clothing, golf balls to tee's, drivers to the wedges, and a large amount of putters to where you end up buyin 3 different ones cause its hard to choose... I like the store cause it has a driving range and a putting green out back, so you can actually hit balls with the club your deciding on to make the right decisions, and if unsure...the staff there can help you decide on wats best fitting for you... First off I am terrible at Golf. I checked out Puetz for there driving range on my lunch hour today. The driving range is split up in two sections on ether side of the store, with lots of targets to shot at like an old golf cart and flags and such. Not that I came close to hitting any of them. The range balls run $6 for 50 or $11 for 100. which is a little high compared to other area driving ranges. The Pro shop is nice with a huge golfing assortment, and some cheap gloves too. Overall a nice place to hit some balls around. read more
