Food is excellent at reasonable prices. We've had the sopa tortilla and enchiladas both excellent. You order at the counter and they bring you it to your table. It comes out pretty quick and is a nice little spot in the neighborhood!

The best 3 leches cake I've had! I think it had strawberries in it So delicious and the workers were very friendly.

Ordered lunch (mole enchilada, pozole, carne asada burrito, and horchata) for pick up. Their website is easy to use (https://golondrinasgrill.com) and they give you nice options for each dish. Exciting that you can choose 2 different types of meat and different types of mole for the enchilada! Loved that they have a small parking lot (maybe 6-8 spaces?) They have a few seats outside, and the inside is very clean. Service was quick, and very friendly. All the food was fresh and delicious! Welcome to the neighborhood!

My wife and I, went to Glondrinas and had a really great experience. The food was amazing and the service was great. The inside is great to sit and eat. Today we both had the Nachos and they were fire the pickled jalapeño, carrots, jicama, and roasted Serrano peppers were fresh and on point. This place is one of the best places in the Bay Area hands down. Oh yeah the desserts are also great we both got the flan to go. If you're looking for great food go to "GOLONDRINAS MEXICAN GRILL". I give them five stars

Came here over the weekend for brunch because I was craving mexican breakfast. Food came out fast and it was delicious! I ordered the chorizo egg breakfast plate which comes with 2 sauces (one creamy and one pesto), beans, potatoes, and 3 corn tortillas. It really hit the spot! Very good value for the money as well. My husband got the pupusa plate and was also very satisfied. There is a bar in the back to self serve water, roasted peppers, salt/pepper, and pickled vegetables. Love that they give you squeeze bottles of red/green salsa for the table. Love this place!!!

Date: 6/19/2025 Time: 2:15 PM 65° Sunny A fellow yelper sent me a message the other night to check out Golondrinas Mexican Grill. Thanks, Steve D. Okay, this location is in the Laurel district of Oakland. I have to admit it is quite a challenge to get to this restaurant, using public transportation from Alameda to East Oakland. Certain bus lines are operating on a Sunday schedule due to Juneteenth, a federal holiday. There is indoor and patio seating. A guesstimate seating capacity indoor is at most 30 people. The outdoor patio seating is about 15 people. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. Decor is quaint. Specialties: burritos, enchiladas, pozole, chilaquiles, kids meals, taco salad, combo plates, agua fresca (horchata, sandia, sangria and jamaica), desserts (tres leches cakes, cookies). Eats: huevos rancheros with whole pinto beans, potatoes and warm flour tortillas. At first glance I thought there was too much rancheros sauce, but the beans and tortillas were perfect sides to complement the eggs. What happened to the leftover rancheros sauce? No, I did not lick the plate. LOL. It was sopped up by the remaining flour tortillas. The rancheros sauce had a nice kick...not too spicy. Yum, yum!! My sister had the chicken enchiladas with rice and pinto beans. She said it tasted okay. Service was a tad off. The gentleman who served me forgot silverware and napkins. Minor detail. Future visit: yes, an adventure to the Laurel District to Golondrinas for the red pozole and chilaquiles. Both dishes I haven't had in almost 20 years.

    Nachos, w/ Carnitas and Guac

4171 MacArthur Blvd Oakland, CA 94619 (Near Maybelle Av) Golondrinas Mexican Grill is a new restaurant in Oakland's Laurel neighborhood. I went to go try this place on a Saturday evening, about an hour before closing. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. The gentleman at the counter guided me thru the menu, and I ordered: - 2 Crispy Baja Fish Tacos - 1 Sandia drink (watermelon). This was a dine-in order, so I was given a number and I picked a table. The interior is very clean, with a modern decor. It has a cozy and warm feeling. There's also an outdoor patio with several tables. There's high chairs for the kiddies. My two Baja Fish tacos arrived, and the presentation was beautiful. The tacos were well dressed in shredded cabbage, cream and salsa. Sauces were provided. I asked for crispy tacos, and I got CRISPY. Those fresh tortillas shattered when I bit into them. The battered fish had a mild flavor, not fishy at all. Price: 2 for $12.50. The Sandia drink was very good and refreshing. It wasn't too sweet. It tasted exactly like eating a slice of watermelon. Before leaving, i ordered Nachos with carnitas and guac. It was served with peppers and sauces. It's a large order of nachos, with an even distribution of cheese and sauce. Very good! Very nice first experience, and I will return. Dress Code: Casual Support Local Business in the Eastbay!

Chicken asado burrito, tamales plato, quesadilla appetizer, plantains and beans, Mexican noodle soup with a side of crispy tacos de papa
    Isela P.

So happy to have delicious, clean, authentic, flavorful Mexican food in our neighborhood! My Mexican mom wanted this 3 days in a row when she tried it. Their tamales are the best, the mole options are in point, all the different style of beans are perfection, the flan is so good, and they even have one of my favorite side dishes, plantains with beans and crema. When we ordered party platters, the fixings they gave us were generous and beautiful. They lasted for days (escabeche for the win!) and their taco salsas were just right. On top of all the gorgeous food, they are super kind! Take all my money, Golondrinas-- and please, please stick around. We need you.

    Pastor burrito
    Jennifer M.

I ordered a pastor burrito and guacamole & chips and chose to dine outside. It took quite a while to get the burrito and unfortunately I was subject to a prolonged conversation of some extremely pretentious patrons. The green bell pepper was tasteless and I had to salt everything. The guacamole was fresh and the chips were fried to a good crisp. The service was good as the cashier was attentive and the server was careful. They had roja and verde salsas which were exceptionally bland. I was hoping for some authentic Mexican like they advertise. If you like white people Mexican food this is your place.

    The fajitas were tasty

The bowls are filling, nutritious and flavor bombs. I also love indulging in their agua frescas. Our personal favorites are the strawberry horchata (a MUST if it's available) and their coconut ice coffee. Refreshing beverages to help soothe your tongue because the sliced fresh chiles on fried fish bowl are indeed lethal. Overall consistently delicious. We tried coming here on a Sunday and couldn't find parking for 15+ minutes so we ended up leaving. There is some street parking but we prefer to park in the lot. Once you get inside you order at the counter. Once you get called up you put your receipt in the basket that the worker hands you and tell them what kind of meat you want in your tacos. Today I tried the asada, carnitas, Al pastor, and tripa. They all were delicious, my favorite was the tripa. Portions are good ($4.50/taco) and they have a variety of salsas, jalapeños, limes, etc in the seating area once you exit. I also got a hibiscus (Jamaica) agua fresca that was good. They do accept credit card but they'll charge a $1 fee so try to bring cash if you can. Definitely recommend, this is now one of my top taco spots in Oakland.

It's a lively, energetic establishment,…read moreand even though there were at least 20 people ahead of me in line, the wait gave me a chance to observe the well-orchestrated kitchen operations. Everything looked authentic, fresh, and incredibly appetizing. When it was finally my turn to order, I was especially pleased to see the variety of meats available. The suadero immediately caught my attention. It appeared to be the proper cut of meat--a cut that surprisingly few places in the Bay Area use, and even fewer seem to know how to cook properly. I also noticed that they use a traditional "disco"--the large, deep, circular pan with a dome-shaped center--to cook the suadero. At that point, my mouth was watering. We ordered a burrito, three asada tacos, two suadero tacos, two cabeza tacos (meat from cow's head), one lengua (beef tongue), and one tripa (beef small intestine). I also asked for some of the salsa available behind the counter where they serve your tacos, which turned out to be a delicious house-made habanero salsa. Unfortunately, not all that glitters is gold. As appetizing as everything looked, the meats simply weren't executed as well as I had hoped. The asada was dry and overcooked. The suadero was dry, tough, and overcooked. I was particularly looking forward to the tripa, but instead of the crispy, rich, savory flavor I normally associate with a great tripa taco, these were soft, soggy, fatty, and somewhat bland. One of the biggest disappointments was that all of the different cuts seemed to taste almost exactly the same. Part of the appeal of ordering tacos like suadero, cabeza, lengua, and tripa is experiencing the distinct character of each cut. Unfortunately, those differences were largely lost here. By the end of the meal, the dominant flavor in my mouth was simply grease, which made it difficult for the individual meats to shine. That said, there is a lot to like about Taquería El Paisa. I absolutely loved the décor and overall ambience. The restaurant has a genuine feel of as if you were in a Mercado in Mexico City, and that atmosphere adds a lot to the experience. I also really enjoyed the salsa bar, which offers a great variety of traditional taco accompaniments. The house-made habanero salsa, in particular, is excellent--bright, flavorful, and seriously spicy. A few drops on each taco is more than enough. Seriously, resist the temptation to douse your taco in it! I think Taquería El Paisa has tremendous appeal and a potential for the best taqueria in the Bay Area. The atmosphere is authentic, the selection of meats is impressive, and the presentation initially builds a lot of anticipation. What I would love to see is a little more attention given to the cooking techniques and handling of each individual cut. Better control of the cooking time, texture, and perhaps work on mastering how  the suadero, tripa, lengua, and cabeza can each maintain their own distinctive flavor and character. There's definitely something special here waiting to come through. With some refinement in the execution of the meats, Taquería El Paisa could really elevate the taco experience and turn that first impression of excitement into an equally impressive meal. Side note, is there a bathroom at this restaurant? I couldn't find one.
