It started of as a 5-star experience and now it has become a 1-star and costly experience. JJ did a great job building the metal fence and guard rail and installing it. We were very happy with the work and told a few of our friends as well. Just less than a year into the installation, the fence started to rust. The paint started to peel off. A year into it, we hired another painter and he patched all the rusting locations and repainted the fence. It is little over 2 years now and it only has gotten worse. The fence is rusting in so many places that we have no choice to be hire a metal painter to remove the rust and repaint it. I heard this is going to be a costly job. As I am researching rust removal techniques, I am reading that we should apply a primer before painting it. If I remember clearly, JJ never seemed to have used a primer and that may be the reason that the paint on the fence and guard rails did not last even a year. We have guard rails in our balcony that came with the house and they have withstood the fog, rain and sun of the Berkeley weather. Even after 10 years, there is no sign of rusting.
