This place is terrible. They have poor customer service and their prices are more than other shops. The customer service department will tell you everything that you want to hear, but make sure that all the upgrades in writing if you are in the contract phase. Horrible service! Once they take your money, you are no good to them! They tell you they want to make you happy to your face then ignore you once you leave!! I have given them multiple chances to prove me wrong but they seem to be getting worse each time! They have had my boat for three weeks now after telling me it would take about one week to resolve a warranty issue! I was able to sit down with a staff member and pick color and configuration of the boat. They also were able to take my old boat on trade. I recently inherited a 40+ year-old 14' Klamath aluminum fishing boat with a 40+ year-old Evinrude 9.9 outboard that hadn't run in at least 15 years. I contacted Gone Fishin' Marine based on a recommendation from an outboard repair shop, who confirmed that my old motor would cost more to repair than it was worth. I arrived at Gone Fishin' Marine in Dixon, which turned out to be a very large and high-end boat dealership filled with brand new fishing boats of all sizes and prices, with a well-stocked store and busy repair shop. I was met by a very nice young man who showed me a slightly newer Johnson 15 horse outboard they had taken in on a trade the day before, which he said ran great and was available for less than the estimated repair bill on my old Evinrude. This man took personal care of me, on what was most certainly one of the lowest profit and lowest priority deals of the day for this thriving business, personally demonstrated the engine running in the test tank, personally carried the motor to my old boat and installed it, etc. This person turned out to be Mark Blanton, the OWNER of Gone Fishin' Marine. All the other employees I dealt with were equally professional and caring. I spent another few hundred dollars on needed accessories in the store and drove home a VERY satisfied customer. This was my first experience with Gone Fishin Marine and their service department! I was buying a boat through a private party and both the seller and I agreed to take it to Gone Fishin to have both outboard motors looked at. I booked the appointment with Josh, the service manager and told him my expectations. Josh, completed the inspection, and called me with his recommendations. Josh had the boat in and out of the shop within 48 hrs! When I arrived to pick the boat up I noticed none of my trailer lights worked. Found a broken wire on the 5 way flat. Dealing with Gone FIshin Marine has been a nightmare from the beginning. Initially it was added accessories that were paid for and paid for installation that were not on the boat when I went to pick it up (2 hour drive each way). Their excuse was we did not know where you wanted it. A simple phone call would have solved that, so I then had to wait another week and drive 4 hours round trip again to get the boat that should have been ready the week prior. I should have used that as a sign and walked away from the deal. Next problem, I go to register the trailer and boat which turned into a 6 month ordeal. First issue was the finance lady gave us the wrong information so it required multiple trips to the DMV. 6 months go by and we get a letter stating there was an issue and the title process was not completed and to contact the selling dealer. Did that multiple times and no response. I am an out of state buyer and am technically responsible for doing it, which we did. After going multiple rounds with the bank and the dealership nobody offered to assist as we still did not know what the problem was. Made another trip to DMV to get it sorted. These people do not know customer service at all and will not offer any post purchase support they will not profit off of. read more

I initially bought my first used boat from Gone Fishing in 2006...a 17' Lund. It was a great used boat. I outgrew it and ended up buying a used North River in 2015. Inventory over the entire West Coast was slim and drove to Oregon to have to purchase it. I had a couple encounters with Mark and his crew and every one of them have been professional and pleasant. Id often stop by when in the area from Tahoe and purchase some fluids and filters for maintenance. Around 2015, while down salmon fishing I had my kicker stolen off my boat. This obviously cut my trip short, but Mark was the first guy I turned to for help replacing it. Again, it was a great experience. He helped deal with the insurance and made a FAST installation at a very fair price. Although I live in Tahoe, GFM is where I take my boat if I have issues. Im a guide in the tahoe area and Mark understands I can't be without my boat during the season. He has always done his best to make any repairs quickly. There were some other instances where he has gone above and beyond to help me out in some circustances that didn't involve him, so I know he cares about his customers, boating community and everyones experience. My husband and I ordered a custom boat at this location instead of going to Bass Pro. We placed a deposit, put in our order and waited for the boat to come in. We had to extend the date of closing our house by 30 days and called to tell them we needed 30 more days until we could pick up the boat, we would even put more money down to secure our purchase. At first, Mark, the manager at Gone Fishin' said they had to sell the boat within 30 days of receipt from the manufacturer, but when we talked to Tahoe's corporate, they told us that was just a sales pitch, they are not required by Tahoe BY Tracker to do this. Then Mark called my husband back and said they would work with us, so we were relieved. A day before closing on our new home, my husband went into Gone Fishin' to schedule an appointment to sign paper work and pick up our boat, Mark said they sold it!!!! Our custom ordered boat that we paid a deposit on!!!! Do not go to this place, they are not looking out for your best interest! I had previously purchased a new starter at Gone Fishin' parts department and successfully installed it myself. But all the rest of it-- Oil change, tune up and such - -I need someone else to do. I came in to have the issue checked with lack of power and not exceeding 3500 rpm on my Honda BF225 motor. Should've been a simple diagnostic from any common sense mechanic. I am a well mechanically inclined person but I run a business myself and find myself too busy at times to deal with certain things I find not worth my time to do. I was left with a $160 estimate for a diagnostic. A week and a half later they wanted to check the plugs and wanted my permission to pull a couple stuck plugs and warned me they could break off. I figured they knew what they were doing and I can't blame them for breaking the plug. Well it broke. I asked how much to remedy the situation, they wanted well over 4K. They don't repair, they replace (new head ). I was puzzled why they started to look there before other obvious places to look at first. When I called to see where I was at on cost, they told me over $600 and I was surprised to hear that with a no result diagnosis. So the service person said he'll give a discount $480. Wow what a discount! For not finding the issue and not putting the motor back together with a missing bolt which I found out when they left me a bag of removed parts and when I went to work in the motor on my own I also found out the gasket seal was also missing and the diagnostic plug not plugged in place. I received my boat back not put back together. I left a message with Josh to call me back so I can tell him what I discovered. Never got a call back. I called twice but still never got a call back so thus I leave my review. I was totally pissed off. I did the repair myself and pulled the head off and extracted the broken plug myself and while doing so I did the entire service while at it. Replaced head bolts, gaskets, valve adjustment, thermostats, all fuel filters, hoses, plugs, oil, and lubrication for under $300 doing it myself, much less than the $480 they charged me with a no result. Guess what the issue was? It was just a clogged high pressure fuel filter. You would think an experienced outboard service person should have check that area. Well I did! I spent a day to service the head and another half day on the rest of the full service replacement and got it running again. The motor started on the first crank within 2 seconds! It's true. I will never ever bring anything in need of service before I check it myself. I am 99% capable in solving and fixing the issues myself. If service centers were more capable of finding issues with great experience, I'd be willing to pay to have it serviced. Not this place. They charged me $480 to do a simple plug in diagnostic, test fuel pressure and pull spark plugs out that ended with one broken stuck plug. That is exactly all they did, well that included not putting my motor back together and I found a missing lower panel gasket as well. Sloppy workmanship Josh. Thanks for not getting back to me. I told you I'd call you after I find and fix the situation. I know very well how much time it takes for what was done and surely isn't $480. $200-250 at most. I would expect a call for a partial refund and an apology, otherwise I stay where I stand. I would've given one star but I didn't because I didn't get any static on a person to person conversation. Anyone reading this should note I am a service person myself in my business and very mechanically inclined. I do the right thing and don't overcharge for my service and give back a car or anything I took apart and not put it back together and give it back to a client. I'm an easy to work with person and understandable but when I spot something wrong, I mention it. Do the right thing. read more

My relationship with Gone Fishin Marine unofficially began in the late 90's, being introduced to fishing by my Father early in life and being very fortunate to have a Father In-Law who enjoyed fishing immensely. As a subscriber to the In-Fisherman magazine I got my first glimpse of the Lund Boating line which from a distance was impressive. As I visited San Jose's Lund Dealership and also stopping by Gone Fishing for a couple years of window shopping, my family was ready to begin our own boating experiences. I began finding my local sales outlet was uncooperative and unprofessional and 2003 San Jose boat show began my family approached the dealer about his pricing, it was no better than what he was asking on the lot. After a couple of days of disappointment I decided to give Mark Blanton a call to see what they had and how much they were asking. I was looking at a Tyee 1850 locally and Mark had a Limited Edition Tyee on a custom trailer that was beautiful, included more options than the standard Tyee. In less than an hour we had to come to a deal that included several additional options that we wished to have all for a better price than his competitor was asking for a lesser equipped model. The balance of the sales processes were completely professional and the delivery was amazing his staff members walked us through how each aspect of how the boat functioned. My Family created some of the most memorable boating and fishing trips during the past decade. Tubing at Berryessa, fishing at a dozen lakes, and my favorite...Salmon fishing in the Sacramento River! This year I was diagnosed with a genetic neurological disease that will take my life, needing to get my affairs in order, I needed to sell the boat. I contacted Mark to discuss our options, he recommended doing a consignment sale which I was not initially looking to do. I hooked up the boat for the last time and hauled it to Gone Fishing. Mark shared several options for us and convinced us that the consignment was the best path for me, we signed the paperwork that afternoon and I drove home boatless. I'm forced to give one star. Do not have your boat motor serviced here. I called in to the service department explaining I have a problem with my motor when under a load. (when in the water) I asked if they fix Honda outboard motors...they said yes, they said come on in... It took them three weeks to tell me they don't know what's wrong. They told me they would call me after a week. I patiently waited but after the second week I called in. They said they were working on it but could not give me any answer as to what was wrong...they're still checking. After one more week, I had to call in again they said they couldn't figure out what was wrong. They said it will cost an additional $400.00 to put the boat in the water to test it under a load. This is another reason why NOT to have your boat fixed here, they are land locked. We wound up taking our boat to Eagle Marine in Martinez and they found out without putting the boat in the water it was a spark plug that went bad. It took one day. We told them to completely go over everything while they had it. Nicer people too. Boat runs just fine now. read more

Just bought a pontoon boat this week from gone fishing and I just want to say that the whole experience was excellent from the beginning stage with Roy our salesman who is extremely knowledgeable about boats and not a pushy sales men but helped us with our decision making process from there we went on to Jamie in Finance got our loan approved quickly and was able to get us a very nice price on an extended warranty on our engine then from there we moved on to Pete in parts for some little extras. We also met the owner while we were there and told him that we didn't have a truck to pull the new boat because it was too large and he said no problem will take care of it and he had Richard do a walk-through for us . I'm giving 4 stars based on our purchase experience with Roy/Mark which was very positive, but there was one minor issue after we took delivery of the boat that was partly my fault for just not checking entirely. We purchased a fish/ski boat and when I put down a deposit, the boat had a ski pylon onboard and it was included in the purchase price. When we took delivery I didn't double check and when we got the boat home noticed the pylon was not where it's usually stored. We called up and they overnighted the pylon (they paid the shipping too) so not too much to complain about. They made it an easy purchase and the staff was friendly. I've purchased from other dealers and this place compares very well for the purchase experience. We've had the boat out about 4-5 days now since purchase and everything seems to work as promised. If that continues, we will likely be buying our next boat here as well! read more

I just had the best boat buying experience at Gone Fishing Marine. Mike was very patient with me on the phone and answered all my questions. He is very knowledgeable. The same is true when I went to the store. I bought a Tracker and he walked me through the entire boat explaining how everything works. Josh in the service dept is equally helpful. He took my old Klamath in even though they don't normally work on older boats. This place is great. I recommend this place. when i bought my boat i took it here to get checked out. paid 110 n they said everything was fine except the spark plugs were wrong so they switched that out. after a year of owning the boat, it started running kind of funny, so i took my boat here again because i was happy with my first experience. It took them about 10 days or so to finally tell me nothing was wrong with my boat, but i knew something was wrong. They then told if they want me to keep trying, they would take it to the lake to stimulate the problem which will cost about 500-600$. I was not going to pay them that much money to joy ride my boat at the lake with no guarantee of them finding a problem, and telling me there was no problem. I took it to my buddy and it was a bad connection with the cables, which took him 3 minutes to find. I would still take my boat here but was unimpressed with my last experience. read more

Beware, we recently purchased a new outboard motor ($3300.00) from this shop. After they walked us through the operation of it in the test tank they loaded it up and we drove 40 miles back home only to find out the mechanic never reinstalled the oil fill cap. After contacting them they really didn't seem to care one way or the other about our problem they created. Bottom line is that we had to drive a total of 80 miles to resolve this issue they created. They made no offer to meet us half way or deliver the oil cap or even hand it to an Uber driver to save us the drive. Needless to say we won't be doing any future business we these people so as not to give us any more grief. read more

All my life I have wanted a nice boat to fish in. I finally bought a used one from Mark at Gone Fishin Marine. I have no boat experience. I didn't know what to look for or anything else. All I know is when I saw this boat it was love at first sight. I bought it so fast that I didn't ask about warranties, or anything else. The 1st time I took it out I just wanted to be sure it ran, and that I could drive it. The 2nd time I took it out I found some things that were wrong. I really didn't know what to do, so I called the service department, the said bring it in and they would check it out in a week or two. I didn't want to do that. I had a cover that came with the boat and they could not find it when I picked up the boat. They called me so I went and picked up my cover. I told Mark, who is the owner, what happened. He told me when I needed something, or something went wrong with the boat, to call him not the service people. They did not know who I was. He asked "Where's the boat", at home I told him. He told me to bring it up there. I didn't know what kind of warranties I had, or what to expect. It was my 1st experience buying a boat. When I took it back, I told Mark what I had found wrong, he found a few more things, he fixed everything, he showed me what to do, and how to take care of my boat. And it did not cost me a penny. I could not have been treated better. If you want to buy a new boat go to Gone Fishin Marine, ask for Mark and tell him Snooky sent you. If you can't afford a new boat you might find a used one. That's what I got. You can buy boats here without worrying about a bad deal. Like I said Mark will take care of you. I haven't had the boat in for service yet, but I am sure that they are top-notch as well. Word of advice - Don't buy the Dowco cover for your boat. Just buy a cover elsewhere. I'm Tony. I bought a boat from Gone Fishing, a Tracker 175. Before I bought it, I did a lot of research. It was the best place to buy from. They were patient, professional, and very friendly-everyone, from the owner on down. They are very knowledgeable and helpful anytime I have a question or something goes wrong with my boat (2019 Tracker). When I call them, they put me first. I had a warranty problem. Something went wrong in Clearlake. I called them and said it was not right. The owner himself said, "Tony, I'm on my way to take care it. I'm leaving now. What part of the lake are you on?" I had to talk him out of coming up there to fix a small problem. When I came back, they got my boat, took care of it, and brought it back to my house. Then the owner said, "It's our fault, I will make it good. I went back a couple weeks later asked about a Dalco boat cover. The owner said, "Hold on Tony." He went in the back and came out and gave me one in the box. They about $850 or close. I asked how much. Mark said, "Free, I told you I will take care you." Wow! I also took a couple friends there and they bought boats as well. We make a deal to buy boats from there. I got to say, I went to Sac Bass Pro and all the boat places around and ended up right here close to home. Best deal, best service, and now, I have some new wonderful friends. Gone Fishin' was the only dealership that had what we wanted, and 150hp instead of 115hp, and it was a 2018! All other dealerships that we spoke with were 5-6 weeks out for our particular boat. I have a 1997 Astro bass boat and have been bringing it to GFM for 3 of the 4 years I've owned it. It takes me about an hour to get there with good traffic (I live in San Rafael and they're in Dixon so there ya go). Why don't I take it to a more local boat mechanic/shop? Because of SERVICE and COMMUNICATION. All shops charge about $100/hr for maintenance, so I'm not saving money there, but what I DO save on his headache and wondering about my boat when I bring it in and attitude (from other shops I've been to that I won't name). GFM just plain seems to give a hoot about your boat and its owner: YOU. They have a wall full of certifications and their service department is top notch. Most recently, I brought my boat in for a fuel delivery problem of some sort and it turned out to be clogged fuel injectors and VST needed to be taken apart and cleaned. The cost to replace all fuel injectors is about $500 each (with new factory ones) so that plus labor could have easily run up the bill to about $4500 but GFM worked with me on lowering the cost considerably by having the injectors sent to a cleaning/calibration service and I was out the door for far under $2k instead of more than double that. Josh, the service manager there, was absolutely on top of everything from start to finish and kept me informed right up through the time I could pick the boat up again. If you have a used boat not under warranty and have a problem you can't figure out, call these guys up and let them take a look at it. Chances are they will fix the problem and do it for a more than reasonable price. If I ever buy a NEW boat in the furture, GFM will more than likely win my business. read more

Took my Champion 196 with a 200hp Mercury Optimax in for the annual service. The service manager was very helpful and informative. Only took one day of the service. They also have bulk oil to purchase. Just bring in your empty jug and they'll refill it. Saves about $10 per gallon then buying a new jug. read more

He was very helpful and immediately went out and took photos and video of the boat and sent them to my phone. Horrible. Ill save the saga but will give a small recap. Put a $500 deposit on a boat that was supposed to tie it up. Went there the next business day to buy it but was told it was just sold to a higher offer. What about the deposit??? Not even an apology. Was told they will send me a $50 check to cover my gas after bringing the family down to buy it. Never came. Then got a phone call saying the higher offer fell through and they wanted to sell it to me!!!!! Unbelievable!!! Worthless business and I'm amazed they are still in operation. If you're looking for a nice boat or outboard motor, they've got a great selection. The store isn't bad either, a bit limited but, not bad. HOWEVER!, if you have an older boat that needs service, look elsewhere. These guys tell me that 50% of the time they can't successfully rebuild a carburetor that's been running California fuel. My boat is a 1980 Marlin with a 120HP OMC 4 cylinder and they couldn't even tell me if they could get a carburetor replacement for it. Obviously, all they want to do is new stuff and insurance repairs. I've had multiple carbs rebuilt by the private owner of GT Boats in Cordelia without any problems at all. All older and all running on California fuel. Just thought I'd give these guys a shot. I'll definitely be keeping my business with GT Boats. read more

I've been coming to GFM since about 2007 for most of my boating needs. Their service department deals with all variety of boats both big and small. Every time I request service, their friendly staff gets me in right away and does superior quality work at better prices than other boat shops in the area. I recently traded in my 20' fish and ski boat for a used 27' cabin cruiser. I received outstanding sales representation from Mark, the lead salesman. He convinced me to pay the extra $$ for an extended bumper-to-bumper warranty which was a wise choice since I had a few minor problems with the boat already. With my boat docked in the slough 24 miles away, two service mechanics came out to my boat keeping me from the hassle of landing the boat and driving up there. That was a huge convenience and time saver. My last problem with a shore power ground fault was fixed but I needed to drop the boat off for that repair. Factory support for the repair was unavailable and the service department used their ingenuity to find the correct part and fix my problem. They also performed two custom installations; an electronic chart plotter and an in-dash mounted VHF radio. They have a wide variety of accessories and other equipment and if they don't have it, they can definitely get it ordered. Thanks to GFM for superior customer service!
