Stopped by Gong Cha in New West to grab some bubble tea on a sunny day. They had a few dine-in spots in the cafe. My friends who are big matcha fans ordered two different types of matcha strawberry drinks - :: matcha strawberry cream - this was thick and milky, the matcha flavour in this one wasn't too strong :: strawberry matcha latter - this had strawberry pulp on the bottom which was really sweet and you had to really stir it well for it to mix well. The matcha flavour in this was strong enough. :: peach yogurt with coconut jelly - it was so refreshing but I accidentally ordered it with 100% sugar which made it TOO sweet, this would have been my new fav drink if it was like 50% sugar. I'll definitely get this again though! We also got their garlic butter bread which was delicious! It was soft, garlicy, and creamy. Loved it! I'm not sure if they always have it, but if they do, then I will be getting it. I also tried their coffee bun which was really good and had a strong coffee flavour. read more

Self serve kiosk to order, nice ambience and decor. I ordered the medium matcha latte w/ pearls, 30% sugar and less ice. It was 15% off because of a promotion and my total came to $7.31. The matcha was strong (rare since most bbt places have pretty milky matcha drinks) but the pearls seemed a bit undercooked/not fresh and lacked chewiness. read more

To have a high quality bbt place like gong cha in New West is amazing! The customer service is friendly and there is a lot of seating inside and outside, which is nice. Their strawberry latte was a tad sweet, but still delicious. Their brown sugar BBT had a nice deep tea flavor to it. I find their pearls were okay. read more

Nice interior with reasonable amount of seating. It's one of the few bubble tea places I can go to and actually have a conversation with someone and not feel as if i'n constantly yelling. Our order was taken quickly, and the drinks came out in a reasonable amount of time. I ordered the earl grey milk tea, which was good. I appreciate that the pearls were not too sweet, so the 30% sugar I requested was, in fact, less sugar, unlike other places. I'm not sure if it was an off night, but I felt as if I received less pearls than usual during this visit. I hope it was just a one off. read more

I came here one night maybe 10 minutes before closing time and there was still a lot of people hanging out, and the staff was still happy to make my order even though they were about to close. I tried their Strawberry Pearls Series (~$6.50+ per drink). I loved the heart shaped jelly pearls in these drinks. They're like a denser jello, with a bouncier (not chewy like pearls) texture, that pairs really well in these fruity strawberry drinks. They also have star jellies available (that actually look like stars), but the heart shaped jellies just look like cute red blobs. Cute store (mostly white, with some potted green plan aesthetics), that is clean and comfortable to be in. Nice and friendly staff as well. Strawberry Smoothie: sort of like a strawberry flavoured slushie (finely blended ice), and topped with a subtly salty milk foam. I quite liked the addition of the dense foam for the flavour balance as well as the mouth-feel texture. Strawberry Green Milk Tea: lighter tea taste in a lightly milky strawberry flavoured drink. Strawberry Green Tea: strongest tea flavour of the 2 drinks. Pretty simple, it tasted like sweet strawberries with a tea aftertaste. Bubble Waffle with Pearls: really enjoyed the chewy texture of the warm pearls inside a classic bubble waffle. I'd recommend eating it right away if you can, but you could easily pop it in the oven or air fryer to reheat if you're ordering takeout. read more

This location was opened in Nov 2020 and I am glad I came in today. I got the Strawberry Creme Brulee Latte with strawberry pearls It was helpful that the staff mentioned that this drink is on the sweeter side, so I went with 50% sugar level. The best Gong Cha of all locations in Vancouver/LMR! Waffles are always fresh and you can even taste the mochi! Whenever my wife and I visit my family in Burnaby, this is our go to place for bubble tea. My wife likes the Royal Milk Tea with Pearls and my favorite is Earl Grey with Pearls. She also tried the Lychee Oolong Tea with QQ ( Coconut Jelly and Pearls) and liked the flavor. At 50% sweetness, she still found it very sweet. I tried the Black Sesame Milk Tea with White Pearl and that has a good black sesame flavor if you're into that. I wasn't a fan of the white pearl though as it was a little harder in terms of the chewiness than regular pearls. I think I'll probably stick with the Earl Grey Milk Tea as I really liked that flavor at 50% sweetness and 70% ice level. Looking forward to our trip back up again in the spring! read more

Love the teas here! I am a fan of their Royal Milk Tea and often drop by to grab a sip. Staff is friendly and quick. I also had the chance to connect with the owner and he was so warm and welcoming - referred to all his staff as his family, just like it should be. Bonus is the decor of this place - so cute! Perfect for a date - some really good food options on the menu as well apart from the teas. Place is easily accessible as it is right outside the New Westminster SkyTrain stop and the prices are pretty reasonable. Place offers a nice patio seating if you prefer the outside. By far my favourite bbt franchise, and this particular location is such a gem. Staffs are always bustling, quick on their feet, yet friendly. Beverage always comes out tasting great while the waffle always chewy yet crunchy. What a delicate balance they have mastered! It will be my go-to in such beautiful weather. I have been ordering boba from here every weekend! They have an excellent selection of both milk tea and fruit teas. They also offer coffee drinks! Gong cha has an extremely wide range of toppings, from white pearls to all sorts of jelly. The drinks are always made well and delivered very quickly.
